Chapter 12: Meeting The Siblings

Despite her determination to convince Nik to wake up his siblings it was harder for her to find the words then she thought it would be. Perhaps because their relationship was strained from the little incident, which just lead more credence behind the fact that they shouldn't be anything more then friends. If one little lapse in judgement lead to them acting like they were teenagers in school again. Then again she couldn't really remember ever acting the way she and Nik were now. Alexinia just prayed it was something they could fix.

They had also moved into Mystic Falls, it seemed Nik hadn't been disappearing off to get rid of his frustration with someone willing. Instead he had been preparing a gorgeous mansion for them in Mystic Falls. It was beautiful although much larger then she personally preferred, it was even better then Grimmauld Place which had been expanded by magic. Of course the room assignments hadn't changed her room had still been built behind Nik's so he could keep her safe. Lately it had been more annoying then anything since Nik didn't even say a word to her when she would pass by him. Barely even acknowledging that she was there. It hurt more then she had ever thought it would. She was afraid she had already lost him.

Nik knew he was hurting Xinia, but he couldn't help it. Ever since he had lost control he was always on the verge of making a move again. In a constant state of arousal and agitation around her. He was afraid spending too much time in her presence would make him snap again.

It was like she had become even more beautiful to him. Especially after he had caught that glimpse of her body. It made him hard just thinking about it and how maybe the rest of her would be just as milky white as her perky breast had been. Nik wanted to taste her, tease her, and claim her as his. The wolf inside him was still locked away, but he could feel it dimly every time he was around her. Howling inside him. Begging for him to make her his and never let her go.

Unfortunately he knew Xinia didn't feel the same way. Sure he had made her aroused and lustful, but her heart was still locked away and that was what he wanted. If she couldn't open her heart to him then it was useless to try and pursue her. Xinia would never just be a cheap fling to him. She was his end game, the woman he wanted to make his wife and Queen. Nothing else was worthwhile. It would only ruin their relationship if she couldn't open her heart to him before he tried more.

He just didn't understand why he was acting this way with her. Nik had always prided himself on his control. Something he had originally learned to keep his blood lust from overwhelming him, but it had worked for normal lust as well. Yes he had been teasing Xinia for years, wanting to acclimate her to seeing his body, make her want more from him. To think along those lines and realize they were perfect for each other. Since coming back to Mystic Falls however he had lost most of his control. He needed her in a way he had never needed another woman before.

A knock on the door to Xinia's room made him turn around, growling lowly at himself as a reminder that he couldn't do anything. Xinia had taken to knocking on her own door before exiting her room to allow him time to be decent. Neither of them were taking any chances for control it seemed. Any other time it would have made him ecstatic knowing he was affecting her, but now it just made him sad as he reflected on their current relationship.
"I'm sorry what?!" He demanded his ears had to surely have been playing tricks on him there was no way she had just said what he had thought she said. He must have been too distracted by his thoughts of what had become of them.

Alexinia sighed it had been hard enough saying it the first time, but she should have known Nik was distracted when she had entered his room, she had just never known him to be so distracted that she had ever had to repeat herself. Their strained relationship must be affecting him as badly as it was her. Maybe more so since she could see the outline of an erection when her eyes ended up wandering down to far. A part of her said she was just making sure he was alright, but the more mischievous side declared that she wanted to know that just being around her affected him deeply.

Shaking her head to get those thoughts out of her mind she brought herself back to what she wanted to discuss with him. "I said I think we should wake up your siblings. Their knowledge might supplement my research and allow us to end the curse earlier then planned. We need to keep Elena alive and human, but so far I've found nothing. Your younger brother Kol was deep into the magical arts from what you told me and Rebekah was closest to your mother. One of them might know how to keep Elena alive. Besides I'd really like to meet your siblings, don't you think they've been daggered long enough. There has been nothing from Mikeal in years and we are stronger with them."

"They would kill you love!"

"You don't know that. Let me wake them up Nik we need them. Besides they'll be grateful to me for finally convincing you to get that damn stick out of your ass and actually start trusting that your siblings are strong enough to stand by your side. What was it you told me you vowed with them always and forever, it's easy when they are locked away in magical coma's with daggers in their bloody hearts, you need to give them a damn chance Nik."

"Like you've given us a chance?" he growled back.

Alexinia staggered backwards as if he had hit her. She couldn't believe that he was bringing their personal problems into this argument. They were talking about his family. Did he even remember how much she had told him she would do anything to get her own family back. To have actually gotten to get to know her parents, to have siblings to bicker and fight with, but know that they were always by her side when she needed them.

Nik was bloody lucky. He just didn't see it because he was so damned broken. But then their mutual brokenness was what held them together. What if by healing him, or healing herself, she finally broke the bond between them. Yet if she could help Nik even if it meant losing him she would. He deserved a second chance with his family even if he was a damn idiot.

"Our problems have nothing to do with your family Nik. I'd give anything to have my parents with me again. I know your parents are different, they were monsters just as much as Vernon and Petunia, but your siblings aren't like them. You need to let them free Nik. They will forgive you, but you need to explain your fears to them. We aren't dolls you can take out when you want to and then shove away again, we are people who care about you, and even if I've never met them I know they won't leave you."

"You can't know that Alexinia Ivy Potter! Even you are pulling away from me. If we have no hope, why would my family and I."

"Perhaps because you lot have a thousand bloody years to look back on. Besides you aren't going to lose me, everyone has awkward spells and spats, but I am still the witch I have always been. Your best friend and that will never change."

Although she knew that he wanted that to change. He didn't want her to be his best friend. He wanted more. She just couldn't give it to him. Everyone she loved died. Even if he was immortal something terrible would happen to Nik if she admitted how she felt to him. Anyone who could potentially be family to her died. Only her friends lived. So he had to remain a friend only. No matter how much it was starting to hurt her to keep him in that category.

"Fine we'll wake them, but promise you will never leave me Xinia."

"Not even death could cause me to leave you Nik. You are the brightness in my dark world," and that wasn't that ironic. That a vampire werewolf hybrid was the brightest spot in her life.

Somehow she had convinced Nik to stay upstairs while she went down to the coffins. Blood bags in hand for each sibling, she would wake them separately to make sure their blood lust would be controllable. Not even she was suicidal enough to think she could take on three bloodthirsty original vampires on her own.
Opening the closest coffin she was certain it was Kol's, he had a boyish face and an air of mischief around him even in his sleep. She was certain he would have fit in with the Marauders quite well if he had been awake during that time. Grasping the dagger she yanked with all her strength, the moment the dagger left Kol's chest it sparked in her hand and she watched in shock as it melted before her. The magic from her core lashing out and destroying it not liking the feel of the magic or it's purpose.

Alexinia was prepared to wait for Kol to awaken, but was shocked when his eyes popped open immediately. "Why hello their love, you are quite a beauty, such a nice view to wake up to. How did you find us? More importantly how did you destroy my dagger?"

"I found you through Nik, he allowed me to wake you up. On the guarantee I make sure you don't kill me and that you don't run off somewhere. Seeing as I unintentionally destroyed the dagger and the means for him to put you to sleep again, perhaps you'd be amendable to becoming an ally of mine and Nik's. I don't care if you fight out your grievances with him, just as long as you stick around to help us. Nik might not show it, but he is quite afraid of losing you."
She replied as he drank from the blood bag.

"Calling him Nik are you love, guess you're the one he's been waiting for though he probably doesn't know it. I guess I could help you. Are you going to wake up Rebekah now, I'd leave Finn he'll only try to find ways to kill himself until we find Sage."

She did want to wake all of them, but perhaps Kol was right. She'd have to find out who this Sage was and get Nik to send out some feelers to find out where she currently is. Although she had no idea what he meant about her being the one Nik's been waiting for. Must just be the confusion from waking up so suddenly.

Walking over to Rebekah's coffin she couldn't believe how beautiful the vampire was. She didn't look much like Nik, but instead like the cheerleader who always made other girls look bad at school. Hopefully her personality wouldn't be that shallow.

Grasping the dagger this time Alexinia wasn't shocked when it melted in her hand. Perhaps it had something to do with her additional role or to do with her deep desire to help Nik. Either way it didn't matter, after all melting Kol's dagger had made him more friendly towards her. If it had been anyone other then her who had destroyed the daggers Nik would have gone on a rampage, but at least she could honestly tell him she hadn't purposely destroyed them. Although maybe subconsciously she had wanted to take away the means Nik had to rid himself of his siblings. He needed them even if he didn't want to admit it.

"Morning Sister dear," Kol called as Rebekah sat gasping up. "Don't hurt the pretty lass she actually convinced our brother to wake us up and she made sure he could never put us down again."

"Kol! Wait who are you? And why would you wish to help us?"

"I'm Alexinia Potter and Nik's my best friend. I've known him since I was eight he saved me from a fate worse then death and since then I've been slowly erroding at his shell. Of course that means he treats me as if I'm a fragile doll half the time, but it's also made it so I can convince him of things that will only help him in the end. All I ask from you Rebekah is don't leave him. Nik is changing slowly every day. I think having you and Kol by his side, and Elijah once I talk sense into those two, will make him heal even more."

"Nik wouldn't change that much in only ten years," Rebekah scoffed, although there was a vulnerability she was hiding that was clear in her eyes. Clearly the vampire wanted her brother to have changed.

"I've known Nik longer then ten years, although a lady never shares her age."

"You humans can be quite odd."

"No more then you vampires Kol. Now why don't you two come upstairs. Your rooms are ready and you can fight with Nik as much as you like, just don't destroy the house it was only just finished and I've grown attached to it."

Kol pouted at that. He had probably wanted to unleash a lot of destruction after the many years he had been spelled asleep. He looked cute, not in the attractive kind of way, but in the little brother I've always wanted kind of way. Even if she knew he was a thousand years older then her, Alexinia felt like she had finally gained the little brother she had yearned for. From what she had heard from Nik over the years Kol's personality really would be like the mischievous little brother sort. It was much too bad he would never meet her father. But perhaps Sirius and Remus would enjoy holding a prank war with the youngest Original.

Even from a few floors away Alexinia could feel Nik's worry and concern for her. Lately it had seemed like she could feel him even when they were apart, as if balance was trying to be made with them arguing. It made her happy to be able to feel Nik's emotions, if that was what she was feeling and not just wishful thinking, but it also made her sad that it came at the cost of actually talking to him.

As she walked with Rebekah and Kol up towards Nik she couldn't help feeling nervous. Knowing that the siblings could have just agreed to her terms to make sure she wouldn't try to find some way to keep them away from Nik. Plus she didn't need them to feel the tension that was still rampant between her and Nik. They needed to seem as if they had a united front if they wanted this to work.

"Kol, Rebekah," Nik greeted his tone would sound cold to anyone who didn't know him, but Alexinia could sense the nervousness he was good at hiding. He wanted his siblings to love him even if he went about it all in the wrong way.

"Nik. So what was important enough for you to wake us? Is our dear father finally no longer a threat, or have you realized we are stronger together?"

"I need your help."

"The Great Niklaus admitting he needs help, now that is a first, but it will cost you. I want a party, Rebekah can help plan it, but it needs to be glorious. Encompassing all of the holidays I have missed during my long slumber."

"That would look ridiculous!"

"Ridiculous, but fun big brother. And it's my cost of helping you. You can explain what you need help with after my party."

Luna just had to choose that moment to walk into the room. Alexinia had thought Luna was out and would be for the rest of the day. She hadn't wanted to risk her younger friend with two ravenous vampires in the house.

"Why hello there beautiful. You are quite radiant love might I ask for your name?"

"I'm Luna Lovegood. It's nice to meet you Kol. You certainly are lacking wrackspurts despite your long slumber. I think a party is a wonderful idea."

Kol's eyes were watching Luna ravenously, but not with physical hunger, it seemed the young Mikealson had been brought under Luna's spell. Luna did have a habit of attracting those who most would think would be too much for the younger witch to handle. But oddly enough Alexinia could see them working out. Luna and Kol would balance each other beautifully, even if it would probably cause Luna to become even more vague once she learned from a master of the art.

The two of them ignored the others as they walked out of the room. Alexinia wasn't worried though, despite her appearance and personality Luna could be quite fierce when she needed to be. Besides Kol was absolutely smitten with her already. He would probably be a good bodyguard for the somewhat spacey witch.

"Another witchy pet brother?"

"No a friend of Xinia's and mine. She will keep Kol in line, now what might you want for helping me sister dear."

"Nothing you have given me. Rather Ms. Potter has already repaid the help I will give. Now I would like to freshen up and perhaps have Ms. Potter bring me shopping for this time periods fashions, I do so hate being behind on the latest fashions."

"It would be better if you found someone other then Xinia if you want to know the current trends. She might be a powerful witch, but she knows absolutely nothing about fashion."

At least they were getting along. Now Alexinia would just have to worry about how Nik would react when he found out she had destroyed the daggers, but she would leave that until his siblings were out of the way. They didn't need to see whatever argument was unleashed. Nik was much too protective of her and would think that lack of daggers would put her in danger. Although she doubted his siblings would be a danger to her at all. Rather she felt they would become quite important to her.

AN: I am unsure at this point who I will put Luna with, it depends on how the characters write themselves. She will either end up with Kol, Elijah, or Matt. So what do you guys think, did I do the siblings justice? Soon the curse will be broken.
