Chapter 15: Girl Talk

"While now that the important things are over with would you mind explaining why you are only in a towel in my brother's room Alexinia, darling?" Kol's eyes sparkled in laughter as Alexinia squealed darting into her room slamming the door shut behind her. Not that being in her room was any better then being surrounded by originals while only wearing a towel. The disheveled room with pillows torn to pieces and blankets strewn everywhere just reminded her what had gone on in here last night.

Dressing quickly she briefly debated just apparating to Jen's to get away from the original family for a while, but she knew that Jen would see right through her. Despite cleaning up in the tub and running a brush through her hair, there was nothing she could do to take the flush off her skin and she had never paid attention to glamour charms for love bites. Nik really had done a number on her neck it was like there wasn't a piece of it that wasn't covered in purple bruises. The only thing you couldn't see were teeth marks, Nik was quite careful not to drink from her since that unexplainable incident when he had met Jen.
Groaning in frustration she knew there was really no way she could avoid everyone outside her door. Despite Kol's question he clearly knew what had happened between her and Nik, there was no way considering there was love bits covering the top of her chest as well. It was better to just let him get the teasing over with now instead of later.

As she walked out of the room she was a little surprised to see that both Nik and Kol were gone. Instead Jen, Luna, and Rebekah were waiting for her sitting on Nik's bed. Jen had a cat that caught the canary look on her face as she took in the love bites on Alexinia and squealed loudly, "finally. So when will I get to be the maid of honor?"

"Jen there still isn't going to be a wedding," Alexina scoffed wishing that she hadn't totally seen that coming.

"Come on, the big bad wolf is old fashioned, he took your virtue; you the woman he's loved for ages, and hasn't popped the question? I guess I expected too much from him. Rebekah what do you think of all this?"

The beautiful original smirked at Alexinia in a way that made her skin shiver she knew that the girls had something planned that they had already discussed this at some point. Had her silencing spells failed for Nik's walls as well as her own? Did they already know before she screamed in shock that she had slept with Nik? If they did they had most likely spent the night deciding what to say to her when she awoke.

"I think my brother has met his match. Alex dear you are perfect for my brother and I can't wait to plan the most amazingly ridiculously expensive wedding I've seen in a thousand years, and trust me I've seen many weddings even if my brothers and I have never married any one our selves. Nik has never looked at another woman in the past thousand years as he has for you, and I know the only thing holding him back from claiming you is you! Whatever hangups you have you need to get past them before you break Nik's poor little heart. Something I had thought died a long time ago!"

Alexinia was a little shocked at the turn of Beks mini speech, from playfully teasing to deadly serious and protective. After what Nik had done to Beks in the last thousand years you would think she would stop being so protective and hero worshiping of her big brother, but it seemed that Beks took the vow of forever and always seriously. It made Alexinia a little sad and at the same time panicked. She worried a little that if they thought she would hurt Nik that his siblings would separate them and she might never see Nik again. That was one thing she couldn't bare. Even if she was afraid she needed Nik as much as she needed air. Alexinia couldn't survive without him. He was her entire world. Which is why she kept rejecting letting things go to far, even if they might already be passed that point, she had never wanted to lose him. Now she might lose him if she kept up the way she had been.

Tears streamed down her face. She wasn't ready to lose what they had. Wasn't ready for it to become more. But she just couldn't lose him. "I don't know what to do anymore Beks."

"Oh Alex honey, sometimes the scariest things are the most wonderful. Nik would rather gouge out his own eyes permanently then hurt you. He loves you. I think you love him just as much otherwise this wouldn't be so hard for you."

No Beks was wrong. She couldn't be in love with Nik. Yet why else would she feel like her entire world was ending. Even if she wasn't ready to admit it to them she could no longer deny it herself. Alexinia Ivy Potter had fallen in love with the most important person in her life. Honestly she had probably been in love with him since her sixth year at Hogwarts.

For some reason it was absolutely impossible for Alexinia to sleep. Instead she kept tossing and turning and felt a pull dragging her towards Hogsmeade. Not knowing what to do about it other then listen, despite everything other then her heart telling her it was stupid to follow a feeling after what had happened last year, she followed her heart. Grabbing her invisibility cloak and quitely sneaking out of her room. She didn't need to wake Hermione up her best friend would just stun her and keep her from following this feeling.

The pull seemed to become more insistent the closer she got to Hogsmeade and it was becoming a little difficult to keep up with it. She was running through the tunnel to Honeydukes panting like crazy as she went. And it was practically painful for her when she was outside the wards keeping her from apparating she just let instinct take over and was shocked when she found herself in the forest outside of her home in Privet Drive. The feeling had led her back to where she had first met Nik and she screamed when a hand came down on her shoulder. Spinning around planning to use the self defense moves Nik had taught her she sagged in relief when she found her best friend in the entire world standing behind her. His eyes red and a drop of blood on his lips, for the first time she felt the urge to kiss him despite the blood, and blushed like crazy.

The moon light was enhacning Nik's features in such a way he looked just as inhuman as he was, but instead of being a vampire she was seeing him as a god. His dark eyes had an emotion in them that made her clench oddly wanting that look to be directed at her.

"Xinia love what are you doing here? You are supposed to be in school. Did something happen? Who do I need to kill?"

It hadn't been anything serious other then feeling like she had to get to Nik at that precise moment in time. Alexinia had never found out why she needed to be there that night, Nik hadn't explained what he had been doing, and she had never asked trusting him. Yet it had been the first time she had ever wanted to kiss him. The look in his eyes had been lust, but she had always known it wasn't for her. She wondered now if he had been with someone that night, feeding both types of his lust.

"What are you thinking about Ali? You have a peculiar look on your face."

"It's nothing and Beks it's hard on me because he's my best friend. I know he's in love with me he told me as much today, but I just can't cross that line. Nik deserves someone who isn't broken."

"That's a load of bull Alex! My brother is just as broken if not more so then you, but the two of you heal each other. You are each other's perfect match. If soul mates existed you two would be it. Why else do you bloody think the curse is broken?! The oldest magic cure in the world is True Love's Kiss, you two kissing for the first time yesterday is what broke it!"

No that wasn't possible, True Love's Kiss was a legend in the Wizarding World, the last one recorded was between Merlin and Morgana, from when they were still in the same side. Naturally everyone knew, even muggles, that they weren't the match such a kiss would allude to. Soul Mates who became enemies. Most Soul Mates never met, and those that did usually ended in tragedy. Magic seemed to work against Soul Mates, making it so they never actually stayed together. Some sort of tragedy had befelled almost every recorded pair in the Wizarding World.

If Nik and she were truly Soul Mates then they were doomed. Even her luck wouldn't break the curse that not even True Love's Kiss broke. The Curse of Soul Mates. To either become bitter enemies or die trying to be together. She couldn't risk it. Nik could never know. She would lose him one way or another if they tried to be more then friends.

"True Love's Kiss is just a Fairy Tale. It isn't real. Most likely something else happened to break the curse. Don't tell Nik your ridiculous idea. Whatever you think Nik and I will never be more then friends. I love him as my best friend. That's it nothing more. I'm not interested in love or children. I won't marry or fall in love. Not even with Nik."

It was a lie, but she was terrified if she didn't lie she would lose Nik. By the look on Beks face the vampire believed her and she looked crushed. Having wished that Alexinia would become her sister one day. It was surprising she believed Alexinia considering the fact that she had just admitted only a few minutes before that she didn't know what to do. Apparently she was a better actress then she thought. But she would do anything to protect Nik. Even hurt him if it meant he would live happily. Or as happily as he could with a broken heart.

'I'm sorry Nik, but it's for your own good.'
