Blaine hated having to let Kurt's dad know what happened. He still felt completely at fault for what had happened, and knew Mr. Hummel would be disappointed in him.

Hey, son," he answered. Blaine wanted to hang up. He couldn't do it…

"Hey, Mr. Hummel," Blaine replied. He normally called him Burt. "Um, listen, something happened with Kurt…"

Blaine paused for a moment, trying to think of the right wording.

"Well?" Kurt's dad pressed. "What's going on? Is everything okay?"

"Uh," Blaine panicked, beginning to pace up and down the hallway. "Well, he was coming home from being out with Elliot, but he never showed up, and wouldn't answer his phone. Well, I got a call from the hospital, a-and they think someone assaulted him." Blaine could barely bring himself to say the word.

"What?" Mr. Hummel said immediately. "Who? How is he now? Did you call the police?"

"We're still at the hospital, they want to monitor him overnight because he has a concussion and broken arm. The doctor said he would need to talk to police tomorrow, but I don't know who in the world would do that to him."

"I don't either," Mr. Hummel replied. He hadn't said much, but it was obvious to Blaine how upset he was. He walked back to where Kurt's room was and stood outside the door. "I'm going to DC the day after tomorrow. I'll see if I can leave here a day early and come see him. Is he awake? Can I talk to him?"

"No, he fell asleep a little bit ago. He was feeling pretty bad. I think it'll be better tomorrow, though. And I'll let him call you when he wakes up, too."

"Okay," Mr. Hummel sighed. Blaine knew he was trying not to sound too upset, but it was evident that he was. "Just take good care of him. You know how he gets around doctors and stuff."

Blaine laughed a little to break the tension. Kurt had quite the fear of anything related to hospitals or needles.

"I will," he promised. "He's gonna be okay. I'll let you know if there's any news, but if not I'll just let Kurt talk to you tomorrow."

"Thanks, Blaine," he said, and hung up with a click. Blaine was surprised how calm he had been, having just found out his son was assaulted. But Blaine figured it would be hell on earth once he found out who hurt Kurt.

Blaine went back to sit with Kurt while he slept. He was feeling drained himself from the night he had had, but wasn't about to fall asleep.

He stayed awake until his eyes hurt, and then a little longer. Kurt slept restlessly, but never woke. Blaine shushed him and he would still for awhile, before repeating the cycle all over again. Every so often a new nurse would come and check on him to make sure he was resting okay, but for the most part they were left alone.

Blaine didn't realize he had dozed off until his actually opened his eyes. His iPhone said it was 9:12. Kurt was stirring, as well, but it took him longer to wake up.

"Kurt," Blaine said quietly, squeezing his hand. "Wake up. I'm right here."

Kurt slowly opened his eyes and looked around, finally focusing on Blaine.

"Hi," he mumbled, as if everything were just fine.

"How do you feel?" Blaine asked. Kurt didn't appear to be in any pain. His bruising looked worse than the night before, but that was all.

"A little sore," Kurt answered, trying to shift positions without moving his arm too much. "But not bad."

Blaine was glad he felt okay, after how miserable he seemed the night before. He helped Kurt eat some breakfast, and then Dr. Young finally returned to see how he was doing.

"The swelling in your arm looks better," she noted, making him move his fingers and attempt to rotate his wrist. "One of our orthopedists will probably come by later to put a cast on it. Just try to rest as much as you can, and make sure to let someone know if it starts to hurt. Okay?"

"Okay," Kurt agreed. Blaine hoped more than anything that they would be able to go back home without another night at the hospital. Kurt fell asleep a little bit after the doctor left, and slept most of the morning.

Blaine expected Kurt to still feel fine after he woke up, due to his heavy medication, but the opposite turned out to be true. He was feeling horrible, and even started to cry. Blaine paged for the doctor, and tried to keep Kurt calmed down.

"You're okay," Blaine soothed. "They'll give you some more medicine, don't worry."

Kurt choked and tried to breathe, but Blaine knew how hard it was for him to keep a level head.

Holly the nurse was back, and she gave Kurt some more medicine. He calmed down eventually, but the strength of it made him throw up his breakfast. She reported that the police were coming by at two-thirty to talk to Kurt, and told him to try and sleep before then.

"I don't want to talk to the police," Kurt confessed once they were alone again. He was quickly becoming sleepy, and held Blaine's hand while he forced his eyes to stay open.

"I know," Blaine told him, running his fingers through Kurt's hair. "I know you don't. But just tell them what happened, and it'll be okay. They're here to help you."

It was then that Blaine realized that he didn't even really know what exactly had happened to Kurt. He didn't want to press him for questions before it was necessary, though. He could just listen to what Kurt said to the cops.

"Have you told my dad?" Kurt asked. "He's gonna be so worried…"

"I talked to him last night, after you fell asleep," Blaine explained. "Do you want to call him? He seemed like he wanted to talk to you."

Kurt nodded quickly, so Blaine got out his phone and held it up to Kurt's ear for him. He could only hear Kurt's end of the conversation, but Kurt seemed a bit cheerier by the time they hung up.

"What did he say?" Blaine asked, pocketing his phone.

"He's gonna stop by on his way to DC," Kurt murmured, fighting to stay awake. "Then again when he's coming back home. I told him not to worry."

Blaine frowned. Of course everyone was worried about Kurt. He was just too proud to realize it.

"It's okay for us to be worried about you, you know," Blaine pointed out, tucking Kurt in and adjusting the melting ice pack on his arm. "Last night, when you never came home, and none of us knew where you were, it scared all of us. I'm glad you're okay now, though. Well- you're going to be okay. And me and your dad and Rachel and all of us are here to help you. Just don't push us away, honey. Don't shut me out."

"I know, I know, I won't, I promise," Kurt shrugged, finally giving in and closing his eyes. Blaine didn't say anything else, since he knew Kurt needed to get some sleep before the police came. As much as Blaine hated the situation they were in, he knew that if anyone could get through it just fine, it would be Kurt.

Author's Notes:

Sorry for keeping y'all waiting! The website was being dumb last night, even though I already had it all written. I hope you liked it as much as the first, though I did feel like the phone call with Burt was somewhat awkward. However, I'm not a parent myself, so I don't know how I would react in a situation like that.

On another note, my spring break from school is coming up soon, so I'll have a lot more free time to write then. I already have a list of prompts I plan to tackle then, but if you have one or two or several then just leave a review or message!
