Hey everyone. I haven't written anything in ages and honestly didn't think I would ever again, but for some reason I have gotten back into reading Trunks and Pan FFs recently and got really inspired to write my own again. This isn't neccessarily a Trunks x Pan romance story (although I do imagine them ending up together eventually), but more about a really close friendship. Feel free to interpret this however you want to though. And just for classification, I don't really have a fixed time in mind when this is supposed to take place, but I guess either shortly before or after GT, so Pan should be around 12-14 and Trunks in his mid-twenties. Also, if you're interested in this pairing, I am currently editing/rewriting another Pan/Trunks FF I wrote forever ago, so check my profile if you're interested :)
Reviews and criticism are always appreciated and please let me know if any expressions or words I used sound strange, so I can (hopefully) correct them quickly.
Anyway onto the story.
...
The sky above Capsule Corp. was already changing from red to dark blue, but Trunks Briefs was still in his office, bent over his desk. He had already been spending all day in his office to tackle the paperload he would have to deal with this week. Not only was reading documents all day really boring, but the silence in the room and the sheer endlessness of the task just made it all even more exhausting. There wasn't really anything he could do about it though. After all he was the head of a multimillion dollar company now, it was only natural that there was a lot of paperwork involved in maintaining that. A sigh left his mouth. He was just about to start on a new pile of documents when he heard a knock on his window. A small smile graced his lips when he turned around to welcome his guest.
"Hi Pan!" he greeted while opening the window to let her in.
As soon as he had opened it, he had to take a step back to regain his balance as she had flung her arms around his neck, hugging him tightly. Laughing softly he returned the hug.
"Happy to see you, too." he laughed. "What are you up to?"
"I was bored at home, so I figured I'd just come and make sure that you're not being lazy." she said smirking.
The same answer as always. Pan had been visiting him almost every day for the last couple weeks now and whenever he asked her why she would always give him the same answer. He wasn't sure if her life was actually as boring as she claimed it was (which with the Sons as family he could hardly imagine) or if she just wanted to come see him and didn't want to be too straight forward about it. Regardless of her reasons, he was grateful for her company and he had actually come to looking forward to working in the evening, knowing that a young Saiyan would always visit and keep him company.
While he was in his thoughts Pan had let go of him and was now eyeing his complete mess of a desk.
"Busy as always huh?" she asked, giving him a sympathetic look.
"Yeah, I feel like it's getting worse and worse by the week." he answered with a sigh.
"Is there anything I can help with?" she asked with shining eyes.
Trunks laughed at her enthusiasm.
"There's some more documents on the table over there. If you want, you could help me put them in order, the page numbers are printed on the bottom of the pages and you would just have to stack them by number."
Pan followed his pointed finger to the table on the side of the room, which was just as covered in files paper as Trunks' desk was.
"Damn, how do you get this place so messy every day?" She asked astonished.
"So are you saying you can't do it?" Trunks asked in a provocative tone, raising an eyebrow.
She looked back at him with a fake pount that quickly turned into a confident look. "Of course I can! There is nothing a strong Saiyan woman like myself can't do!" She said with closed eyes, her nose high in the air.
She hurried over to the table, sat down on the couch next to it and started gathering the documents in one big pile to start organizing them. Trunks looked over at her with a smile before going back to his own desk to get back to work. He could already feel how the stress from the long day wore off little by little. It was refreshing to have Pan with him. She was always so positive and full of energy, there was almost no way for him to not feel energized by that as well.
The room grew quiet again, only the rustling of the paper and Trunks occasionally moving in his chair broke the silence, but this time it was a comfortable silence. Both Saiyans enjoyed each others company, even if they weren't talking. From time to time Trunks would take a short break from reading and looked over to Pan just to find her looking very focused to put the papers in the correct order. He was actually grateful that he didn't have to do that himself as he had already seen enough paper for one day, plus Pan also genuienly seemed to enjoy helping him out, so it was a win-win for both of them.
Around an hour after Pan had come flying into his office, she grabbed the documents from the table in front of her and walked over to Trunks' desk.
"Finished!" she exclaimed cheerfully, a big smile on her face.
Trunks took the stacks of paper from her and placed them neatly into one of his drawer. Then he looked back at her smiling.
"Thank you, Pan. It would probably have taken me another hour to get those back in order."
"That's what I'm here for!" she smirked before making her way back to the table on the other side of the room.
"I'm sorry, but I still have a bit of work to do and I don't really now what other task I could give you, so maybe it's best if you go back home?" Trunks looked at her apologetically.
"Oh no, that's okay, I'll just wait for you to finish then." she said while walking around the table to the couch and lying down on it, putting her feet on the armrest and crossing here arms behind her head.
"Don't you have school tomorrow?" Trunks asked.
"Yeah, but school isn't thaaat important, I'm a warrior after all. Plus my marks aren't even half bad, so I think I can afford to stay up a little late once in a while." she said closing her eyes.
"Well if you say so, but don't let Gohan or your mum know that I'm always letting you stay up so late. I don't want them to think I'm a bad influence for you." he said frowning. "And don't fall asleep over there, I don't wanna have to carry you all the way back home again." he added, now smiling.
"Don't worry about it. Mum actually told me she likes me coming here, because she thinks I'm way more cheerful when I get home. And don't worry, I'm just getting a bit more comfortable, I'm not even tired." the young Saiyan said smirking.
About half an hour later Trunks could hear soft snoring coming from the couch on the other side of the room. He couldn't help but smile.
"I knew this was gonna happen." he thought walking over to the couch while taking off his jacket. Carefully not to wake her up, he covered her with his jacket to make sure she wouldn't feel cold.
He made his way back to his desk so he could get the rest of his paperwork done with as soon as possible.
Finally at close to midnight he held the last file in his hand. Now all he had to do was view these documents for a meeting he would have tomorrow and he would finally be finished for the day. He decided to go over and sit with Pan for this. He looked up to the girl sleeping on his couch and saw that she was now lying on her belly, snuggled up into his jacket and looking really peaceful. Trunks smiled. There was little that made him feel calmer than watching Pan sleep. Grabbing all the documents he walked over to the girl fast asleep in his jacket.
He sat down on the couch Pan was sleeping on and breathing softly, his legs only a few inches away from her head. She must have felt the cushion moving, since she lazily opened her eyes and looked up at Trunks for just a second, before closing them again and crawling closer to him. She rested her head on his lap and fell right back asleep.
Trunks looked down at her sleeping form and smiled. He could feel she had let down all her guard and he felt honored that she would trust him this much. Placing a hand on her head he started petting her. He decided to finish with the documents quickly, so Pan wouldn't have to keep sleeping on this hard couch. Of course he knew he could just tell her to go home early, but whenever he had tried to do that before, she would always insist to stay until he had completely finished work. And since the girl was as stubborn as every Saiyan there really wasn't any arguing with her.
He smiled at the thought of her pounting face last time he had tried telling her to go home, since it had already been late and she would have school tomorrow. With a confident grin she would tell him to just finish quickly so they could both get home, and that she wouldn't be leaving until he was. Knowing this, he figured he didn't have a choice but to just hurry up with his work, to make sure Pan wouldn't be aching all over tomorrow, just because she wanted to keep him company while he had to work.
When Trunks finally finished the last page he breathed out in relieve. He looked down at Pan again, whose head was still resting on his thigh, her face looking completely calm and peaceful. Careful not to wake her up, he placed the file on the table in front of him. He looked back down at the sleeping girl and stroked a strand of hair away that had fallen onto her face.
Now he was faced with a new challenge. How would he get up without waking Pan? He slowly moved his hand under Pan's face and lifted her head really carefully. Then he moved to the side bit by bit, an inch at a time, until his leg was finally free and he could place Pan's head down on the cushion, all the while taking care not to make any abrupt movements. She must have noticed that his warmth was gone though, because as he placed her head down she had started to shift and was now turning to her side while also making noises in her sleep.
At first Trunks thought she would wake up, so he tried to stay completely still and even held his breath for a few seconds. But when shortly after Pan started snoring quietly again, he breathed out in relieve and relaxed a bit. Then he slowly moved his arms in under Pan's shoulders and legs and lifted her up carefully. Luckily for him, Pan was a pretty heavy sleeper, so he managed to lift her into his arms and carry her over to the window without any more trouble.
He was about to fly out of the window to bring her home when he decided that she might as well just stay the night. It had got pretty cold outside at night anyways, so he didn't wanna risk Pan catching a cold either. He made his way over to the door and out into the hallway. The neonlight in the hallway was pretty bright and he could feel Pan burrying her face in his chest to escape from the brightness trying to interrupt her sleep. He quickly walked over to the guestroom next to his and lay her down in the queensized bed.
Her clothes didn't look like the most comfortable to sleep in, but he was also pretty sure she wouldn't be comfortable with him undressing her, so he only took off her bandana and placed it on the bedside table. He did however go to his room to get one of his own shirts and placed it on the other side of the bed, just in case she woke up and wanted to change into something a little bit more comfortable herself.
He then went to call Videl to let her know Pan would be sleeping at the Brief's house tonight and not to worry, he would make sure she won't be late for school. Videl was surprisingly chill about it and told him just to make sure that Pan wouldn't miss too much class and that she would come home for at least a few hours the next day. Trunks assured her to do so, wished her and Gohan a good night and hung up.
Before going to bed himself, he once again peeked into the room Pan was sleeping in. When he saw her still in the same position as earlier he just whispered a "Good night, Panny." into the room and then went to his room to get some well deserved rest as well.
