Chapter 32

Martin finishes creating his account for Four Goddesses Online in little time at all. The nation he chose was Lowee for the boost in magic and alchemical abilities.

The potions he will make will prove excellent in battle once his skill gets high enough. With Me and Vert around, he should be able to take on dungeons way higher than his skill level.

Once everything is finished loading, our avatars spawn to our last location that we were at. For me and Vert, that would be Hero city down in Leanbox. Martin must've spawned in the main city of Lowee.

"Give us a second Martin… we'll get to Lowee soon."

The question is how are we actually getting there? I don't know if teleportation exists in this game or not. It would suck if it didn't offer a way to travel quickly.

Vert's avatars head perks up. Hopefully she has some idea on how to get to Lowee in no time at all.

"Actually, I may have a way for us to get there. Take this"

Out of nowhere, a snowflake shaped crystal appears in Vert's hands. After clicking her avatar, my inventory gains a new item. The name of the item is a Lowee Ice Charm.

All I can think of to do at this point is click on the emotion action that makes my character scratch his head with a question mark appearing above me.

Vert in turn laughs at my gesture, both her avatar and her real self. I hope that's a good sign.

"It's an item that can transport you to Lowee once every hour. It only teleports you to the main city. A master Alchemist can craft ones that will transport you to different towns."

Martin may come in handy with his Alchemy skill later on. Or I could just Ask Rom if she can make me one. She's from Lowee and her magic skill is pretty high to make things better.

Clicking the crystal, both Vert and I are encased in ice then submerged into the ground. After a few seconds, we reappear in the main city of Lowee. One down one to go, we just have to find Martin now.

"Martin, meet us in the market place will you?"

Martin nods and immediately tries to find the market place. Good thinking Vert, while we're there, Martin can get some sweet new equipment. Provided he pays us back in the future.

A couple minutes go by as we wander the city of Lowee. We reach the market place and sure enough Martin is there waiting for us. His avatar waves to us to signify that he is there.

When in reality, he could've just tapped me on the shoulder in real life. I keep asking myself why we do in game actions first when we could be talking to each other when we're a foot away.

The appearance of his avatar is what you'd expect of a Lowee character. His hair goes just past his shoulders and is silver in color. The color of his eyes are azure blue, and his face has a very thin complexion. There is more to it but I'm not that good at describing things.

"Sorry to keep you waiting Martin." I'm the first to speak in game to him. I'm such a hypocrite right now from the previous statement.

"It's quite alright, it wasn't that long of a wait."

"Well then Martin, while we're here, would you like some new garments?" Vert takes the thoughts right out of my brain. I was about to suggest the very thing.

Martin shrugs and we walk along the side of the street viewing the different wares. Everywhere you turn someone is trying to sell you something.

"Fifty percent off all shields!"

"Buy one thousand credits worth of potions and get a free paper weight!"

"Last one left in stock! Get it while you can!"

One wanders where you can get good quality products without all the hassling. Ah crap, I forgot to ask him an important question.

"Hey Martin, even though you chose Lowee, what type of character would you like to build?" A good question for any RPG player.

He taps his chin a couple times before finally making a decision on his class. Please be a mage, please be a mage, please be a mage.

"I suppose I would like to be a white mage." You can never have too many healers in a party. And with him around, we might be able to complete that one dungeon from last time.

Vert's emotion action shows her with a light bulb over her head. If I'd have to take a guess, she has an idea.

"Gentlemen, I know a dealer here in Lowee who can give Martin here some new equipment. He owes me a few favors, so we should get it for free."

Equipment for a friend for free? Sounds pretty good to me. This way I can afford a new schematic for a revolver I've been looking at.

Martin once again shrugs, Vert takes this as sign that he's in on it. The three of us begin walking down the streets again looking for the merchant Vert is talking about. I wonder who it is actually.

"Greetings friends… ah Vert honey how have you been?"

Oh no, not this guy again. I've run into three times now, and he's still the same crazy merchant that he was a week ago.

"I'm doing fine William. I was actually here to cash in the favors you owe me. My friend Martin here requires a change in wardrobe from the starting clothes. Could you spare some items for a whit mage?"

"For you Vert, anything. Now friend, lets get you into some new robes."

I'm baffled at the spectacle before me. All this time I could've been getting free items from William and no one told me? Suddenly my awesome sword doesn't seem worth it. Ah who cares, it's awesome anyway.

"He might be a little on edge, but he's a good merchant." Vert gives a sales pitch to me. No matter what anyone says to me, I won't trust a crazy man so easily.

William shows Martin a wide variety of wares ranging from staves, rings, robes, and boots. So far Martin has two rings picked out. I can't make out what they do yet, but I'm sure they're good.

Martin then picks up a staff from the side of the crazy mans stall. He holds it close, examining the staff. Twirling it around a few times, he picks the staff to be his own.

Time for a joke that Maurice once taught me.

"Nice staff… compensating for something."

The joke earns a few laughs from Vert, and a lot of laughter from William. Even a few passerby's chuckle at the joke once they heard it. Sadly Martin doesn't have the reaction I was hoping for at all.

He just stands there and smirks a little bit.

"You know, the last man who said that to me received a mouth full of…"

"Stop! I don't want to hear the rest!" Note to self, be careful who you use jokes on next time. Also… stop listening to Maurice.

Martin gets back to his fashion trip for a wizard getup. William has a lot of trunks and chests full of seemingly random items. But sure enough, Martin finds exactly what he's looking for in the jumbled mess.

Two rings, a pair of boots and gloves, Robes, a pendent and staff. Oh yes, he's good to go.

"Are you sure that's all you want? There's plenty more items I could get rid of."

"I'm fine thank you, thanks again Vert for telling me about William."

Vert smiles and closes her eyes. "Why you're very welcome Martin."

Martin goes to his inventory screen and selects his items. A flash of light appears and when it gets dimmer, the new look is revealed. A few strands of his hair on the left side of him are tied in a braid going down.

The robes he's chosen are a light blue tunic style robe with a gold trim along the cuffs and the bottom. A belt of the same color as the trim is apparent as well. There is also a small satchel for carrying various alchemical ingredients.

The robes sleeves stop halfway up his arm and his forearms are covered by a wrap of sorts. The same goes for the lower part of the robe. The stop at just below his knees and the rest I can see is his boots.

Overall… not a bad look on his character.

"So, if we are all finished, there is a good dungeon we can all explore." I like where this is going Vert.

"I'll accompany the both of you. It'll be an opportune chance to increase my level."

The both of them look at me next. They know I'm going to say yes so why do they pressure me like this?

"Splendid!"

Vert grabs mine and Martins forearms and begins to drag us away from Lowee. I know already that we aren't going back to the dungeon in Leanbox so that's a relief. I wander where we're going actually, knowing Vert it could be anywhere.

Well at least I have Martin in tow to take the torture with me. I don't know what it is but he seems like a good friend already. Even if some people would call him socially awkward or an immediate death flag trigger, I'm sure he's just misunderstood like we all are.

And with that… we're going to clear a dungeon.

A/N: This is faster than I usually write. There have to be boring chapters here and there to make way for the chapters that you all as the readers crave. And concerning whether or not Martin is bad… I'll leave that for you to decide loyal readers.

Until then, see you in the next update.
