Chapter 37

As soon as school let out for the day I had Maurice drive me to Martin's house. Neptune and Nepgear are still with us, and this time Nepgear can trust me being alone with someone.

He does like it that I'm making more friends by the day though. I like it too; it's just that he has a very, very weird way of showing it.

Sigh, I suppose one day I'll thank him for everything he's done for me. But for now I will despise him for his actions, not even knowing how much he actually cares for me. But let it be said that I care for him as well.

Enough of that, Martin's house is almost upon us. Hopefully the address is correct and he didn't pull a practical joke on me. I wouldn't have taken him for that kind of man.

But sure enough we see a driveway in the distance that presumably belongs to Martin. Maurice instinctively turns into it to make sure that it's the right one.

When we reach the end, we can both see Martin sitting on his porch drinking out of a glass. Yep, we're definitely in the right place.

Opening my door and getting out, I look at Nepgear one more time and simply gaze into her eyes. The shade of lilac that her eyes are is still as captivating as the first time I saw them.

"I'll see you later Nepgear. Once I get back I'll swing by your place."

She nods and speaks back to me. "Ok, have fun then."

Before going away to meet Martin, who is staring at us waiting for our finish. I plant a small kiss on Nepgear's left cheek.

Immediately both of cheeks begin to glow red. I knew that this was going to happen, but its little steps like this that keep our relationship moving forward.

"I… um… I"

"Goodbye… I'll see you later."

Nepgear mutters under her breath, "I love you." I can barely hear it, in fact I'm thinking it was a hallucination. Either way, I still like it that she cares for me as well.

Closing the door behind me, I can quickly see Neptune giving me a death stare of sorts. I really hope she doesn't kill me just because I've found someone I show a lot of interest in.

Maurice begins to back up, and before I knew it, he drove off. Leaving me alone… except for Martin who I'm pretty sure is walking up towards me.

"I love you too." I say that quickly before he reaches me.

"Afternoon friend, I do hope it wasn't too much of a burden to reach my house."

It did take a little bit to find it actually. Both Maurice and I didn't even know where in the county that the address belonged to. We had to stop on the side of the road to look it up actually.

Not to mention his house is in an isolated part of the county. You have to actually look for it since a lot of trees block its view from the road.

"It… was an interesting journey to say the least."

"Well then… without further delay, shall we make haste?"

I nod to Martin and the two of us begin walking towards his porch. I almost forgot his house from the outside looks to be very decorative but a little old at the same time. While it also gives off the feeling of superiority.

Making our way through the door, I finally get a peek at the interior. The walls are plain white with a dark cherry wood border that goes along with the floor.

The room we're in now is what I can only assume as the living room. It has a dark maroon leather couch and loveseat with a coffee table made out of a lighter wood in front of both of them.

The TV in the room is a bit on the large side, I'm guessing it to be about a 60 inch screen that more than likely has stunning picture.

"I was hoping to show you my room. It's up the stairs and down the hallway to the right."

Both of us walk up the stairs that are right next to his kitchen and make our way through the hallway.

I want to say that it's quiet in here but I just remembered something. He lives here alone technically, I remember him mentioning that his parents thought it would be best for him to stay here when we were in the nurses office.

Still, he could possibly have a butler, knowing him anyway. I'd say if his Uncle owned a house like this then he might have enough money to hire one.

"Wandering where my parents are?"

"How… How did you?"

"I can see it on your face. People give many little facial expressions as to what they are thinking about. I learned how to read most of these in my spare time."

Wait, how much spare time does Martin have exactly?

"I haven't had any friends for a long period of time."

Damn, he read my face again. As creepy as this is sounding to be right now, it could actually prove to be useful later. I'm not sure for what yet, but it could be none the less.

Martin opens his door and I'm greeted to a very nice looking bedroom. Instead of the hardwood that the rest of the house has, his room is adorned with short brown carpet.

The bed pushed up against one of the corners of a room is a full size one with an icy blue comforter neatly tucked in with the sheet under it. Right by his bed is a desk and chair similar to mine actually.

Looking into the closet right by the TV, I can see a bookshelf from the door that's open on it. Three of the four rows are filled with books while the last row has video games organized on it.

Going back to his TV, it's mounted on the wall above a TV stand which contains a few consoles. Some newer, and some of them not so new. The one that catches my eye off the bat is the Nintendo 64 he has displayed on one of the shelves racks.

"Wow…"

"Shall we play a game maybe? I'm not to sure on how this is supposed to work actually."

He did say not to long ago that he's never really had friends before. So it only makes sense that he wouldn't know how to deal with this situation.

Looking closer on his desk I notice a box that seems all too familiar. From what I can tell, it's a fat pack box from the set Avacyn Restored of Magic the Gathering. I remember that when it first came out.

If he plays Magic or has at least attempted to then maybe that's how I'll connect with him.

Reaching into my pocket, I pull out a box of the same set with the picture of the Demon Griselbrand. In that box contains my zombie deck among other related cards.

"Ah, so you play too I see. Perhaps I could finally get a game in with someone."

"I'll accept your challenge, let's go."

It takes us a little to get everything set up properly. That includes making sure that there won't be any mana clots along the way. But after a minute or two we draw our hands and get ready for an epic bro fight.

"I hope you don't mind if I go first."

I nod to him and he lays down a white mana. He nods to me signaling that it is my turn. Drawing from my deck, I drew into an island. My first move is playing a swamp, tapping it and play Diregraf Ghoul.

Martin inspects it for a moment before looking back into his hand. As he did, I nod to tell him that it's his turn.

"Alright Jack, I'll show you what my deck can offer now."

A decent amount of turns have gone by since the beginning of the match. So far he's winning with a life total of twenty three. I picked the wrong day to use my zombie deck. Because his deck… is an angel one.

He has seraph of the dawn, Serra avatar, two angel tokens, and an archangel equipped with moonsilver spear.

My side consists of four zombie tokens, diregraf captain, and makeshift mauler. The only reason I'm losing is because his creatures have flying.

"My turn… oh this will be nice. Tap out, angel of glories rise."

Son of a bitch this is bad. When that card enters the battlefield, it automatically destroys all zombies in play. And all my monsters are zombies.

Putting all of my cards into the graveyard, I wait for my fate to come to me. I knew this was going to happen when he played angel of salvation at the beginning of the game. To put it short, Martin is amazing with tactics and can read opponents movements.

Martin attacks all out, and my life total becomes zero. Well, it couldn't be helped. I'll just say I let him win for now.

"Good game, that was a close one back there."

"Yeah…"

I look the other way to avoid facing Martin. The person who beat me will probably know what I am thinking if he can see my face.

"Come, a brisk walk will clear our minds. Today is nice so it's the perfect time to be out."

I nod to Martin and we make our way back downstairs. When we get back downstairs its still void of any people like when I arrived here. Maybe I should come here more often.

Opening the door to the outside the wind blows against us. He's right, it is a very nice day out today. No wander he wanted to go for a walk, it really is the perfect time.

We start to walk to the grassy area in the backyard because there is a trail in the woods behind his house. It's some beautiful scenery to look at, one that I wouldn't mind coming back to.

As we go into the woods, it's almost as if we're stepping into a new world that's separate from the one we live in. I don't think I want to live here, it doesn't have Nepgear after all.

"you know… it's actually hard to say this."

Oh please don't tell me that another person is confessing to me. I can't handle my friends telling their unyielding feels for me out of the blue.

"You're one of the only people I consider a friend.

I'm a bit shocked at this, he told me that he's never had any friends. What I didn't know was that he considered me one. I thought that all I was, was an acquaintance. The same goes for the rest of my friends.

He said one of his only friends, that means a few people, that means he might just consider some of the group as acquaintances. Then again, he doesn't know some of them that well. Though he has been liked a lot more by the others.

"Same to you, you're a good man."

Martin gives me a light smile before he turns back to face the rest of the trail. He's a really nice person once you get to know, if not a bit weird. Point is, I like him, and I'd like to keep him around.

The both of us continue to walk into the wilds. If only this day could last a little bit longer.

A/N: I'm so sorry for not updating as fast as I would like to. For some reason I just can't get into a creative mood as well as I used to.

I think I'm tired of chapters like this, for some reason I still think I butchered the story in this sense. But worry not, I'll continue writing what the crowd wants.

If you would like more chapters like this one, then leave a review about it. If you'd like more serious chapters then review that as well. Point is, reviews are always accepted.

Until then, see you in the next update.
