Domination: Volume Four

Episode Two: The Three

Featuring Captain Jack Harkness, River Song and Bernice Summerfield

Professor Rupesh Tybern was perplexed. A large black cylinder, resembling a TARDIS, had suddenly arrived in his office yet the door had not opened. It just sat there, waiting to be unlocked. He had called security, but when they had tried to open the TARDIS the security team had turned into ash. There was only one option left. He knew an archaeologist who could be able to open the capsule. All he needed to do was give the command.
"Get me Professor River Song now!" he yelled into his comms unit.

Bernice Summerfield was not having a good day. She had been sent to investigate the appearance of a black TARDIS in the lab of Professor Rupesh Tybern and the Doctor hadn't turned up to take her there. The reason she was annoyed about the Doctor not being there to take her was that she had been promised that she would be getting access to a time and space machine, piloted by a time and space traveller. Obviously the Doctor then. Obviously.
After half an hour, there was a blue flash and a charming youngish man, dressed in a military coat and wearing a vortex manipulator on his wrist, appeared. He smiled at her charmingly and held out his hand.
"Professor Bernice Summerfield, I presume?" he said, with an American accent, "I'll be your transport for today."
"And who are you exactly?" she wondered, thinking that this strange American man could be the Doctor.
"Captain Jack Harkness, at your service. Now are you coming or not?"

Rupesh had ordered for one archaeologist, not three. Unfortunately three archaeologists had arrived. Well, two archaeologists and someone who was still interested.
"Professor River Song!" Bernice exclaimed, noticing that River, one of her students, was with them, "What are you doing here?"
"I could ask you the same question." she replied, before noticing Jack and saying, "Oh hello sweetie. Good to see you again after the end of the universe."
"Did you like the cake?" Jack asked, remembering how he had bought a wedding cake for River and how they had spent an afternoon on the last planet at the end of time.
"I loved it. Could we get on with the job though? I haven't come from Metebilis Three just to socialise." River insisted.
"What were you doing on Metebilis Three?" Bernice wondered.
"Giving my husband a wedding gift."
"Ah."
"Rupesh, what's going on?" Jack asked Rupesh, silencing Bernice and River.
"You'd better see for yourselves." Rupesh said enigmatically, leading them into his lab.

A tall black cylinder had landed inside the lab and a young dark-haired man with black eyes and who was dressed in a black suit was examining some scientific equipment.
"Excuse me, what are you doing here?" Rupesh asked the stranger.
"I've come to try an experiment." the stranger replied, before then noticing Jack, Bernice and River and saying, "Ah, the three friends of the Doctor. I think this must be one of the greatest moments in history."
"Not while you're alive." Jack said, "Who are you and what on earth is that thing?"
"That, Captain Jack, is my TARDIS. Well, it's filled with energy from the Dark Universe but it is still a TARDIS." the stranger explained, "And my name is the Dark Lord, by the way. I rather like it."
"Did you say, 'the Dark Universe'?" Bernice asked the Dark Lord, suddenly having a thought.
"Yes, I did. Just then." the Dark Lord replied.
"Bernice, do you know about the Dark Universe?" River wondered, working out why Bernice had suddenly had a thought.
"The Doctor talked about it once, when we were on the trail of Eukaritt the Mind Slayer. He said that it was an ancient Gallifreyan gateway into a horrifying version of reality where the Time Lords dominate." Bernice explained, "But this Dark Lord is a Time Lord from our universe. He must be."
"Correct. Well done." the Dark Lord said, clapping to emphasise his point before stopping when one of the machines nearby him started to bleep wildly, "And my time here is done. I'm off to unleash hell and there's nothing you can do to stop me."
He waved goodbye and entered his TARDIS, before dematerialising. Jack fired three shots from his revolver but it was no use.

The Dark Lord, inside his TARDIS, watched the footage of the Doctor, Rose and Lauren on top of the cliff top and smiled to himself happily. He knew what he needed to
do in order to get them to where he needed to be. All he needed to find first was a Time Scoop and then he could bring the Doctor to watch his greatest victory. The Dark
Universe was about to return in a horrifying way.
"Oh, Doctor, there is little you can do to stop me now." the Dark Lord said happily, knowing that victory was his.
