Domination: Volume Four
Episode Three: The Vengeance of History (Part 1)
Featuring the Ninth Doctor, Rose Tyler and Lauren Dunbar
The Doctor, Rose and Lauren woke up and found that they were on an alien planet. The soil was blackened and there was no life on it whatsoever. Except for a smart young man with black hair, black eyes and who was dressed in a black suit with black shoes.
"Morning." the stranger called to them, waving.
"Who are you? Where are we?" the Doctor asked.
"So, Doctor, you're the Time Lord. By that reasoning, I must be the Dark Lord." the Dark Lord said, "And I wish to set my universe free."
The Doctor, Rose and Lauren stared in shock as the Dark Lord clapped his hands and a tall black portal opened up, with ash-coloured demons soaring out of it.
The Doctor took out his sonic screwdriver and tried to figure out where the portal led to, with Rose and Lauren gazing at the demons flying out of the portal. The little stick of metal glowed bright blue and whirred for a few moments, before giving the Doctor the right information. Information he dreaded.
"You're from the Dark Universe?!" he cried at the Dark Lord, "I thought I stopped you when I captured the Eleven!"
"Doctor, I am from your universe and the Time Lords forced me to explore the Dark Universe." the Dark Lord explained, "So I thought about bringing the Dark Universe to the Time Lords, as revenge for what they did to me, and so I got my agents to seed dark energy throughout Gallifrey's history. I put some dark energy into a Gallifreyan book but apparently that ended up in the hands of Sutekh, which is a shame but oh well. I'm here now: that's what matters."
"Doctor, how are we gonna stop him?" Rose asked, "Can we stop him?"
"I don't know." the Doctor replied, in the tone he used when things were at their darkest. He tried to think of a way to defeat the Dark Lord and reverse the damage done but no ideas came. There was no TARDIS: only him, Rose, Lauren and a sonic screwdriver. He then suddenly noticed the Dark Lord's TARDIS which was parked nearby and ran towards it. Rose and Lauren followed him and they managed to get away, to the fury of the Dark Lord.
The inside of the Dark Lord's TARDIS was, as they expected, dark and depressing: the walls were black with silver roundels scattered all over them and the central console was dark, covered in controls and had a short dark time rotor which rose and fell.
"Where are we going?" Lauren wondered, "I'm hoping for anywhere but there."
"I'm going to break every rule of my people all at once, thankfully they're not watching." the Doctor explained, setting course for Gallifrey before the Time War.
The Dark Lord's TARDIS materialised inside the TARDIS bays and the Doctor, Rose and Lauren stepped out. Lauren gazed out of the window nearby, looking at the sandy wilderness which surrounded the Capitol with awe.
"This is a nice home planet." she remarked, as Rose joined her.
"I can't see why people would want to live here. It's just sand." Rose remarked.
They both looked around to try and find the Doctor, but he was gone.
The Doctor was strolling down one of the corridors of the Capitol when he saw a young blonde woman, dressed in red Gallifreyan robes, heading the other way. He recognised her of course: she was President Romanadevatrelundar, his old travelling companion.
"Romana, mind if I borrow you for a moment?" he asked her.
"Yes but who are you?" she replied, thinking about who would have such an odd dress sense and realised that it was the Doctor, "Doctor! What are you doing here?"
"It's hard to explain so that's why I need to borrow you. Is that okay?"
"Certainly."
Rose and Lauren, meanwhile, had noticed a strange white crack, hovering in mid-air. It seemed to resemble the crack in time back on Skaro, when Captain Pandorix had pushed the Doctor into the crack in order to try and fix Skaro's odd history.
"What do you think this is?" Rose asked, "Another sign that Gallifrey's history is odd, like Skaro's?"
"I don't know. It seems to look like that. We should tell the Doctor." Lauren decided, just as the crack widened and a skeleton fell through. The strange thing was that the skeleton was dressed in the Doctor's leather jacket and held his sonic screwdriver tightly. Rose stepped back in horror.
"What the hell is that thing?" she demanded, "That can't be the Doctor, can it?"
"I think, Rose, that someone will have to die today and this is what happens if we let the Doctor die." Lauren said, fear rushing through her blood.
The Doctor had now explained the situation he was dealing with to Romana and she sighed. The reason she had sighed was that she was somewhat ashamed that the Doctor, who was one of her own people, had broken the rule regarding time travel Time Lords obeyed at all times.
"What should we do then?" she asked him, slightly annoyed.
"I dunno. That's why I need your help." he replied.
Suddenly, a white crack formed in mid-air and a skeleton fell out of it. It was a skeleton of Rose and it made the Doctor afraid in an instant.
"Doctor, what is it?" Romana wondered.
"Rose is going to die." he said, running off to find Rose and Lauren.
Rose and Lauren met the Doctor as he was rushing to find them and he had a distressed look on his face. Rose, therefore, decided to ask him why he had such a distressed look on his face and he explained everything about the skeleton version of Rose.
"But hang on, we saw a skeleton of you." Rose replied, walking over to the Doctor's skeleton and showing the Doctor, "Does that mean you die as well?"
Lauren, however, had worked it out.
"Don't you two know what this is? It's time, nudging us on the right path. You two aren't going to die because you're afraid of what's happened in a future." she explained.
"But what about you? What'll happen to you?" the Doctor wondered.
"I think I'm going to die." she replied, grimly.
Behind them, a version of the TARDIS materialised. It wasn't the Doctor's TARDIS but it still resembled a police box. Out of it stepped a bald man dressed in a zip-up hoodie and a tie and a young blonde woman.
"Who are they?" Rose asked.
"Hello there, I heard you needed some help. I'm the Doctor and this is my friend Ellie." the Other Doctor said with a smile, "Apparently the universe is about to end so we'd better get a move on. Shall we save reality?"
