Dimitri POV :
I checked my phone when I heard a ping.
~Hey comrade, I was wondering if you would come over. I wanna show you something. Be there by five. XOXO Rose.~
It has been a week since we had lunch together. She called my comrade, due to my strange fascination of western novels and duster. I liked it better when she called me comrade, more than Andrew.
I wonder what would happen if she knew the truth. Would she talk to me? What if she doesn't want to see me ever again? I couldn't afford to lose her. Even though we had meet only a few weeks back, she had become the great part of my life. She was the highlight of my day. God, this ridiculous crush has got to stop.
Reading her message again, I smiled to myself. I wonder what she wanted to show me? I could show her a lot of things too. My thoughts started drifting to dangerous territories. I mentally chastised myself. Get your mind out of the gutter, Dimitri Belikov. She's just a friend.
I looked at the clock impatiently, it's two thirty. Two more hours to go. The time sure is moving very slow today.
Rose POV:
"How do I look?"
I looked up from my phone, after texting comrade. There he was, he looked quite good, like a rich business man. I smiled and gave Mason a thumbs up. Man, this was sure a lot of work. I sighed remembering what happened.
~Flashback~
I walked into the office, late again. But after the made up relationship with Dimitri Belikov, it seemed like I was the boss of the office. Stan was sitting in the sofa reading newspaper.
"Rose?" Stan called out.
"Yes?"
"You have to invite your boyfriend, Dimitri, to the Thanksgiving party tomorrow." He said, without looking up from the newspaper. I'm glad he didn't, because I stood paralyzed in shock before trying to compose myself.
"What? Why?" Stan looked up, staring at me incredulously.
"There will be few famous actors and actresses, if Dimitri would speak to them. They might sign our contract. This could be a huge step for our company. Maybe we might get a chance to produce a film."
I gulped, trying to think of a reasonable excuse. "Dimitri won't be able to make it. He has a business meeting."
"Didn't you tell me you were going to spend Thanksgiving with him and took a leave for tomorrow?" He asked, raising his eyebrows.
Shit! Why did I say that? Oh yea, because I wanted some 'me' time. Damn it! What do I do? Think Rose, think.
Before i could reply, he continued, standing up. "I know your lying to me Rose. You just want to spend Thanksgiving with him alone. But your going to do it, for the sake of the company and your job. Do I make myself clear?" He said, fixing me with a cold stare, and walked out of the room.
I swallowed heavily. I am so dead.
I had spend the rest of the day trying to figure out what to do. Lissa and Christian were with me. I told them the truth. They would know obviously, if I started dating someone. To say they were angry was an understatement. They were furious. We fought. I was desperate. I was not ready to loose my job. I had screamed at them for not understanding and it had resulted in lissa and me in tears and christian trying to comfort us. After this, our bonds were closer than ever.
They wanted to help me, and told me they would always stick by my side. Even christian got emotional, he would never admit it though. But he was a big softie on the inside. So, after my conversation with Stan, I immediately went and explained everything to them. And so here we were. We were thinking of all possible ways, but came up blank.
After some time, Christian got frustrated, "God Rose, only you know how to get into situations like this."
"Gee, thanks for having so much faith in me Christian" I said sarcastically.
He looked like he wanted to cut my head off, before he could retort, Lissa interfered. "Seriously? Fighting now won't help. Use this energy to come up with an idea."
Damn you lissa for being the reasonable one.
"Well, you could try to talk to him Rose?" Lissa asked.
I was shaking my head before she even finished her question. "No way liss, after all the publishing I did of our 'relationship' I'm shocked he didn't come and kill me."
"Maybe he should have." Christian muttered.
"Did you say something chrissy? I didn't hear you." I said, challenging him.
"Guys." Lissa said exhausted.
"He started it." I said. At the same time, Christian said, "She started it."
Lissa rolled her eyes and gave us a pointed look. We shut our mouths. We knew, the last thing we wanted was her to get angry.
"The worst part is no one has ever seen him. That guy is a mystery." Christian said, trying to change the topic.
I immediately sat upright, looking at Christian, "What? No one has ever seen him? No media? Nothing?"
"Yeah, were are you getting wi-.. Ohh!"
Lissa still looked confused. "But who's going to do it?" Christian asked, "No way, I'm not doing it." He said immediately when I looked at him hopefully.
"But-.."
"Rosemarie Hathaway, there is no way in hell I'm going to do it."
I sighed, it's impossible to change his mind. He was as stubborn as me. I tried to think of someone who might do it while Christian filled lissa in on our plan. Just then, Mason passed by, whistling.
I felt my smile widen and I immediately stood up. "Oh Mase, sweetie, can you come here for a sec?"
He looked at me, and walked towards me hesitantly and suspiciously. I gave gave him my best man eater smile and trailed my hand across his arm. He gulped. Gotcha.
"I really need your help in something Mase, you will help me won't you?" I asked, battering my eyelashes.
He swallowed heavily and said, "Oh..Kay! What should I do?"
I smiled, hugging him and thanking him. I knew he liked me more than just friends, I wasn't supposed to take advantage of him. But he was my friend and he knew I don't like him like that. He's a sweetheart. I felt guilty for not liking him. He was a amazing person, I don't know why I didn't like him.
Maybe because you have a certain Russian on your head. Ugh, not again. Ever since we are lunch together I can't stop thinking about him. Something about him is just so attracting. God, I sound like some lovesick teenager.
I explained my idea to the bewildered Mason. To say he was shocked was an understatement.
~flashback~
I called comrade over, to see if this works. Let's hope it works.
Dimitri POV :
It's 4:30, finally. Smiling to myself, I jumped and starred packing my bag. God, what was this girl doing to me. I immediately locked my cabin and walked hurriedly, hoping no one saw me. Alas, I did not succeed.
"Oiyee Dimka, where do you think your going so early?" A voice asked, teasingly.
Muttering few curses, I turned around to face the one and only Ivan. Damn it, today is not my good day.
"I was going for a business meeting." I lied quickly, hoping he would believe me. That asshole just raised his eyebrows and smirked.
"Without your business partner?" He asked cheekily. I groaned. I completely forgot he was my business partner and we went to all business meetings together.
"You're going to meet Rose, aren't you?" He asked, grinning like a Cheshire cat. I scowled and his grin widened, if that was even possible.
"Well, don't forget to use protection." He said, still smiling.
I shot him a look and walked out, ignoring his laughter echoing the walls.
Damn it. I wasted so much time with him, if I don't hurry I'll be late. I thought trying to catch a cab.
I reached around 5:10. Taking a deep breath, I rang the doorbell.
Rose opened the door, and gave me a smile, before ushering me inside. I met Lissa, Rose's bestfriend and another guy, sitting next to her, I assume that's her boyfriend.
"Ohh, comrade. This is Lissa and this is Christian.. and guys, this is Andrew." Rose said pointing at each one of us.
I flinched when she said Andrew, I hoped she didn't notice. I wanted to tell her the truth, but I want her to like me for me and not my money or popularity. I sighed.
"You want something to drink?" Rose asked, smiling at me. Lissa looked at me weirdly. I tried to ignore her. "Sure, anything is fine." Rose threw me a can of coke.
I was in the middle of drinking when she said, "Okay, comrade. I want you to meet my boyfriend." I sputtered my coke out, and started coughing.
"Your.. your boyfriend?" I asked trying to catch my breath, my heart sinking.
She has a boyfriend.
"Yeah, comrade. Meet Dimitri Belikov. You might have heard of him." My eyes widened, with shock and confusion.
I looked bewildered as I saw a guy in a tuxedo, red hair. Was that a .. gold watch?
"Hi, I'm Dimitri Belikov. Nice to meet you." He said, extending his hand to me. I tried very hard to keep a straight face, I didn't succeed. "You.. your Dimitri Belikov?" I asked incredously. He looked unsure.I bend over laughing. The guy looked confused and scared, the other two were looking at me curiously.
I looked at Rose, still laughing. She looked very angry, I tried to compose myself.
"I'm sorry." I said, after I composed myself. She just huffed and sat down, sighing.
"Even you could tell he is not Dimitri Belikov. How will the people in the party believe it?" I said frustrated. I immediately felt bad for laughing.. and confused.
"What are you talking about?"
"Well.." Rose started, biting her lips. God, her lips. Focus, Dimitri, focus.
I listened, she told me everything. Why she told she was dating Dimitri Belikov, he conversation with Stan. Everything.
She looked so disheartened I felt my heart break. Oh, what and all I would do to see her smile again.
"I'll do it." I said looking at her. Looking at her unsure expression, I continued hurriedly, "I knew this was not Dimitri Belikov because I had met him once. And I can act, as I am a small business man myself."
"That seems like a good idea." The red haired guy said. Lissa and Christian agreed.
Rose smiled, mouthing me 'thank you' and looked at the red haired boy and apologized for the inconvenience she caused him. He waved her out and pulled her to a hug. I immediately felt a spark of jealousy. That guy was smitten by her, alright.
Looking away, I saw Christian looked at me and to my hand. I looked down and saw that in my jealousy, I had crushed the soda can. Luckily I had already drunk everything.
The red haired guy bid everyone good bye, wished my luck and left. Next Lissa and Christian left, saying that they were going to the party first.
I was left alone with Rose. She smiled and thanked me again.
"It's my pleasure." I said, looking at her. She leaned forward and hugged me. I froze. Before I could hug her back, she pulled away. "You're the sweetest friend ever." She said.
I looked down, blushing. Wait a minute, since when did I blush.
"Let's go?" I asked her. She smiled and nodded.
Rose POV:
As we reached the party, I prayed to God everything to be fine. I felt someone squeezing my hand and looked up to see comrade, giving me a soft smile. I automatically smiled back.
"Everything will be fine." He whispered in my ear.
Needless to say, everything was fine. The whole party went by smoothly. Nobody doubted him. He acted like he actually was Dimitri Belikov. No slip-ups. Nothing.
Looking at him interacting with people, I felt myself smile. This guy sure is something else. I think I'm falling for him.
