Chapter 14
The devil made me do it
Now I know you are all wondering why I told him I was scared. It could be anything. It could be that I was afraid of the dark, or spiders, or the fact I had to go to the bathroom really badly and was afraid to wake him up just for that. But the true reason why I was afraid…well let's find out shall we.
I know my introduction to this epic tale of how I lost my heart and unfortunately my virginity to my worst enemy ever was probably the longest introduction in the history of introductions, and for that I applaud you for sticking with me. Either you are a very generous person or feel bad for my bad luck or you are curious to know if my life becomes a living hell once again. In my opinion, I hope you're here to see if my life becomes a living hell once again, I feel as though you being here because you feel sorry for my 'well-being' will make me feel like a charity case.
So let the record show that I, Rin Mori, being a sound minded and ample-ish breast size, enter this monologue contest for evidence of my humiliating and scandalous time in my last year of high school. And because I will be judged by a bunch of my fellow peers I'll try and say the words 'like' and 'totally' as much as possible. Like totally not going to happen.
I confess that I, in no small part, was to blame for any of the gossip in me being a hooker, a superhero, or an alien for that matter. However, for those of you that are hoping for the sizzling details of my months handcuffed with Sesshomaru Takahashi would give you reason to lock your door and make love to your sister's moisturizing lotion, well you are gravely mistaken. I admit that the first part of my tale was…very heated but strangely awkward on my part, and I can't assure you that the next part will be much different, but there is something I can tell and something I will only tell once.
Never trust your enemy.
No matter how nice or how much they act like they're your friend, they will always come around and shoot you in the back.
After a weekend of absolute bliss, Sesshomaru and I were heading back to school. God if I could legalize Monday, I would. I mean who wants to get up at six in the morning to learn about how to find X and how we had a lot of wars in the past that nobody cares about? I mean seriously, didn't they have anything else to teach us? Or was it just the teacher's way in saying to never trust anybody out of our own circle?
Didn't matter, because for a period of time, I was a fool to trust someone who I clearly hated the guts out of. But wasn't that how it worked? Keep your friends close and your enemies closer? No? Okay, whatever then.
"These letters are going to kill me!" I yelled across the hall.
Once again I heard the Hulk growl beside me as I watched him pick one up and shred it with his hands. I on the other hand opened one and actually read it.
"Dear Rin, you are the pumpkin to my pie, the red to my rose, the….pickles to my ice cream?" Okay that one was a little too gross. "…You smell of sunshine and rainbows. I love you more and more every day. Love yours truly."
I gave it to Sesshomaru and he shred it up in seconds. "Once again I fail to capture his scent. And you do not smell like…sunshine and rainbows. More like blue cheese and seaweed."
I looked at him, unimpressed. "Gee thanks. By the way, you're not funny."
Remember when I said I was scared? Well, I guess I should tell why I was scared. "This guy is ticking me off," Sesshomaru said.
No duh, Captain Obvious. "I'm scared," I muttered at nothing.
"About this." It was no question, but a statement. He knew why I was scared. He just wanted me to admit it.
"I don't know what to do."
"We'll find him, Rin." I smiled at his words right before he pushed me against my locker. "Don't forget that I'm right beside you all the time. Literally."
Whistle calls sounded in the distance as Sesshomaru's past friends walked by. "Take her top off!" Koga called.
Sesshomaru snarled at him and faced back to me. "Ignore them. They are-"
"Incorrigible jackasses that are nothing but attention whores?"
He chuckled low. "I couldn't have said it better myself. But don't worry too much," he placed his lips on mine gently and added, "okay?"
I nodded and pressed against him for a quick kiss. "Yeah, yeah." Our kissed dwelled deeper. Technically we were making out in the hallways.
It wasn't until Ms. Midoriko came strolling down the hall and ruined it all, "Arm's length apart!" she ordered us, walking by naturally.
We immediately separated, but only until Ms. Midoriko rounded the corner, then we went right back to making-out.
"God, you guys are going to make me throw up my breakfast," a familiar female voice said.
We pulled apart to see Ayame standing two feet away from us, crossing her arms.
"Seriously, do you have anything better to do then make-out in the hallway?"
I giggled. "Well we could be fighting like, and I quote, 'an old married couple'," I mimicked in her voice.
"Okay, one, I do not sound like that and two, you're more like a divorced couple."
"But you said-"
"I've changed my mind," she cut me off.
Sesshomaru cleared his throat. "If I may, Wolf, you handcuffed us together, thus creating our romantic bond. For that, I thank you. Rin is no longer my enemy but my girlfriend." He kissed me.
Ayame make a face of disgust. "Yuck, I don't know what I hate worse. You and him kissing or you two fighting. I think it's a tie. But you're right, I would rather you guys be like this then fight and yell horrible names in the hall. It so much…quieter and peaceful when you two are all lovey dovey. But no lovey dovey in front of me! And Takahashi…never thank me again. Freaks me out."
"With pleasure," he bowed slightly.
"STAHP!" Ayame cried. "No more! Please! My ears are going to explode from your niceness!"
"Of course, my apologies."
She sighed, and I covered my mouth to stop laughing. "I give up. Oh and on another note, only two more months until you two are un-handcuffed. How does it feel?"
"What are you a radio interviewer?" I asked.
She blinked rapidly. "I'm just asking a simple question."
"I'm glad it's almost over," Sesshomaru commented.
I looked at him with a grin on my face. "But….?" I added.
"But, I will always be with Rin."
"And don't you forget it, Takahashi! Because if you ever betray me, I'll cut your pretty little cock right off, and wear it around my neck as a trophy."
"That's a little harsh," Ayame commented.
"It's what I do, and Takahashi knows it."
He nodded in approval. "I've taught her well."
"You've taught her to cut your cock off if you betray her?" Ayame questioned.
"No, I've taught her a value lesson on threatening people."
"And that's from you two being together?"
"No," I continued, "that's from all the years we fought together. These past few months haven't really taught me anything except that he's really, really horny."
"Yeah, I didn't need to know that," Ayame said.
"I mean you should see what happened to his cock when I just kiss him!" I exaggerated a little.
"TMI, RIN! TMI!" Ayame backed away, and backed away, and backed away, until she hit one of the nerds carrying a really large science project of the solar system. Yeah, he wasn't happy.
It was like the Big Bang happened all over again on the school hallway. There were planets and stars and books and pencils and whatever else she had in her bag everywhere. Earth ended up right beside an Earth science text book, irony ahoy to that one. And the sun ended up somewhere by…a key? Yeah, I was confused at first too when I saw it. But it was there, a very small key. I knew the second I saw the key, it wasn't her house key. I've seen her house key, it's twice the size. No this key…this key could probably open a very small chest, or…"Handcuffs," I muttered. Those were the handcuff keys.
Ayame picked up her stuff quickly and placed it back into her bag. I didn't know if Sesshomaru saw it too, but I didn't care, I marched right over to Ayame. "Ayame, what was that?"
"What was what?" she asked innocently.
I narrowed my eyes. "Don't act all innocent on me. I saw that key by our sun. Tell me, what does it belong to?"
"My…" she hesitated. Red flag, red flag! We have a red flag. "…diary."
"You don't have a diary."
"And how do you know? I could have a secret diary that nobody knows about."
"Ayame, if it was a secret diary, then you wouldn't have told me. Now what does that key open!?" I demanded.
"Nothing!"
"Takahashi, you saw that key right?"
He nodded, narrowing his eyes evilly at Ayame. We walked towards her, intimidating like. She was getting nervous, her face began to grow sweaty, her eyes moved around quickly. Yeah, she was definitely hiding something. "Alright!" she confessed. "Alright, you got me!" she pulled the key out and showed it.
"And what does the key belong to?" I asked.
"The handcuffs. It's the key to the handcuffs okay?"
"But your mom isn't even back," I said. I should know I usually would see her mom everywhere.
"She isn't, but I…had the key the whole time."
"You what?" Unbelievable! When I heard this, I couldn't even react the way I wanted to react.
Sesshomaru growled beside me, his eyes tinted red. "You better have a good reason for doing this, Wolf!"
I ignored him and eyed my best friend all betrayed. "Ayame…but why?"
"Look, I was just so frustrated with you two always fighting every year. It was always I hate him, I hate her, and well…it got really annoying. I get you two are enemies but once you are on the sidelines for a number of years hearing it all, it just…I couldn't take it anymore. I thought this way would be the perfect opportunity to maybe get to know each other a bit better and stop the fighting. It worked, better then I hoped for actually. Trust me, I never expected you two to fall in love. But…" she sighed, "…I never meant for it to go longer than four months. When my mom got back, I swear I would've freed you."
"You'll free us now if you fear for your life," Sesshomaru threatened.
But I only looked at her with hurt filled eyes. I couldn't believe she would do this to me. When she handcuffed me to Sesshomaru for the first time, I forgave her because one, she told us specifically she was sick and tired of our arguing and wanted ten minutes of quiet, and two, she said her mom had the only spare and wouldn't be back for four to six months. I agreed that I would wait, but now…I didn't know what to think. She lied to me! And it was all because she wanted to feel comfortable. Sure Sesshomaru and I fell in love, but seriously, I didn't think that would change when the handcuffs were off. And if we never fell in love in the first place, we would still be enemies when they came off. Nothing would've changed.
"The devil made me do it," Ayame surrendered.
"The devil?" I asked, growing angry.
"Figure of speech, but seriously, I'm really sorry."
"Just free us," Sesshomaru snarled.
Her hands shook when she placed the key into the hole. And with a click and snap, they came off. I stepped away making sure Sesshomaru didn't follow, and…he didn't. They were gone. I could not believe my eyes.
However Sesshomaru's eyes looked mighty scary. They were all red and blah. He growled low as an indicator of attack. A second before he pounced on Ayame, I held him back with as much force as I could muster. "Whoa, Takahashi, stop!" I pleaded, but to no avail.
"You're dead, wolf," he hissed.
"I would run, Ayame," I warned, as I positioned myself in front of him. "Takahashi, calm down. Shhh, please," it wasn't working. "Sesshomaru!" I snapped. "Enough!" I finally got his attention. "We're free, so stop. Let's just get to class and move on."
"Wolf," he called to her, "you better sleep with your eyes open!"
"Rin?" she eyed me, looking for a way out.
I looked at her sadly. "I'll talk to you later."
I was very angry at her, but she was my best friend, and I knew I couldn't be angry at her forever. However, what I hated the most was a liar, and she outright knew that. For that, I wasn't sure how I was going to handle this situation.
I just wanted to get through today at least.
Besides, I was free, and for that, I was grateful.
