Chapter 22

I'm sick of doing stuff I can't do!

This was awkward. I felt like I was being watched by dozens of my fellow peers, their eyes tormenting and judging me. Oh wait…I was! But I wasn't the only one. Although because Sesshomaru was a demon, he didn't get that many stares or made comments said about him. People were too afraid about being squashed like a bug on the sidewalk. Too bad humans were like cockroaches and never died, or dozens would be dead right now from his piercing stare into their souls.

Okay…enough of this! "Scram!" I snapped at the large number of people.

And they all scattered like a flock of pigeons when you run through them. I always loved doing that as a kid. Then an old lady feeding them would bicker and yell how children ruined this century. Yeah, well you know what lady; I can do what I want! Maybe….

Sesshomaru, who stood beside me, was like a stone statue…nothing new there. As people left the interesting subject of us, he returned his gaze to where Kagura stood. What used to be a small array of grey lockers was now adorned with a giant hole, the size of my head, dripping with acid metal. I had to remind myself several times a day how powerful Sesshomaru really was. If I wasn't careful, that array of lockers could be me …but he would never let that happen. Right?

"Takahashi?" I muttered low.

His ear twitched, letting me know he could hear me.

My eyes landed back on the hole. "We should get out of here before a teacher comes."

"It's too late," he said shortly.

"No it isn't. If we leave now—"

"Enough Rin!" he quietly snapped, making me jump. "Don't worry so much. If I end up expelled, I end up expelled. It isn't the end of the world and it doesn't mean I'll stop hunting Anonymous." His eyes narrowed. "He's here…I can smell it."

I looked around, wondering if he was nearby. Sesshomaru had a good sense of smell, but was it really good enough to smell every single scent in the school? Beside the point, the school was filled with sticky, disgusting smells that not even humans liked to whiff. I couldn't even imagine what it was like for him.

"Rin!" I hear Ayame call from behind me.

When Ayame called my name I knew things were going to go down with Sesshomaru. He was boiling up for sure…and it was all going to go towards her.

Think about it for a second. Ayame was the one who started it all. The handcuffs—the one aggravating object in this entire world that can make both Sesshomaru and I lose our minds at the extent of gaining absolute power, but landing in a pile of dog shit in a barrel instead. Of course, Ayame is and always will be my best friend, I couldn't just let Sesshomaru rip her apart just because some wind-headed demoness decided to announce at the top of her aired filled lungs that my dear and eerie Anonymous friend was only steps behind us…literally. I wasn't and would never be that crazy. Plus, I was to blame for the fact Sesshomaru and I were, once again, chained together by the fates of metal, but that was only because of the growing demon inside of me. I wasn't going down alone.

If Sesshomaru was going to rip her up…I was never talking to him again!

When I saw her though, I breathed in relief…oh man I was so bloody happy! I never thought I would be happy to see Koga with her. Hopefully that would stop Sesshomaru's madness of going rogue.

"Rin," she placed her hand on my shoulder, her eyes landing on the scene, "whoa, what happened?"

Koga's eyes widened too. He looked at the demon beside me. "Dude, did you do this?"

"Who else is capable of doing something such as this?" he answered in such a…serious and monotone voice.

"Uh, I don't know really, but…geez, did you have to go as far as to destroy my locker? I mean I knew you were still mad at me, but…dude, the porno magazines I borrowed from Miroku were in there."

"Since when do you read porno magazines?" Ayame asked, crossing her arms.

Koga's eyes shifted. "Did…did I say porno magazines…I meant pool magazines. You know all those cool pool designs and stuff. I was…thinking of building one in my backyard."

"Mm, hm."

"But seriously, dude, I never thought you would miss."

"What do you mean?" he asked.

"Well, the girl is standing right beside you twenty-four seven. I thought she would be the easiest target ever." He started laughing. "Who know Sesshomaru Takahashi, the strongest demon in the school, had such a lousy aim!"

Wait…what? Did he just say 'the girl is standing right beside you'? Meaning me? Sesshomaru wasn't aiming at me nitwit! Gods, male wolves are idiots! Here's a middle finger to you Koga!

Sucks to be the wolf too. Seconds later, even Koga was pinned up against the wall. I was kind of thrown into it. The whole few seconds felt like I was a ninja or something. Very blurred-like. But, Koga was being held against his will by Sesshomaru's claws. At least it wasn't Ayame, Sesshomaru was getting is anger out to, but still, this was the second person in a day! This had to stop.

"Takahashi!" I tried to pull his right arm away. Gods, he really was a statue. "Takahashi!"

The claws began to glow green. Now Ayame was in on it too.

"Takahashi!" I yelled again.

"Stop!" Ayame added. "Let him go!"

And now we were drawing a crowd again. I growled this time. "SESSHOMARU! ENOUGH!"

Then Sesshomaru's eyes were on me. Yes, I said your name, no need to be all shocked about it. I didn't realize until then either that my breaths were heavy. Who knew trying to get a demon, with lethal claws, to stop killing another demon was such hard work. And that was my work-out for the day. Anyways, when Sesshomaru saw me, his face softened and he let go. Koga dropped to the floor, coughing like Kagura did. Ayame helped him on his feet, staring daggers at Sesshomaru the whole time. But all Sesshomaru and I could do was stare at each other. I didn't know why, but it was his eyes…something inside of me…he seemed more amazing?...no…beautiful?...no. Maybe I was horny. But his eyes made me want to hug him and never let go. It made me want to love him even more. Wait…

Love.

It was what those eyes read.

I understood now.

"Rin…" his right hand was placed on my cheek. It smelled of burning flesh a bit, but it was warm…like really warm. "…are you alright?"

I smiled, placing my left hand on his right, and nodding my head. "No, I'm okay." He dropped his hand and I looked at Ayame. Koga's arm was loosely around her shoulders and he seemed really out of it. I frowned. "I'm sorry, Ayame. Maybe you should take Koga to the nurse's office."

She nodded. "And you get out of here. I can hear a few of the faculty members coming."

I tugged on the chain, trying to get Sesshomaru to move. Like seriously. "Takahashi….we have to go!"

"I'm sick of doing stuff I can't do!" he growled. "Koga, you better sleep with your eyes open tonight!"

I kept tugging. "Takahashi!"

He growled lightly and followed my tugging. We moved our way through the halls, wondering where we could go. But right then and there, I had an idea.

"Takahashi, I have to pee."

"Not my problem," he answered, still moving and now dragging me through the crowds.

"Yes, it is your problem. We've been through this. And we can hide in the bathroom!"

He halted and looked at me. "Fine!"

However, when we got to the bathrooms, there was a bit of a…mishap.

We stood in front of the men's and women's washrooms not knowing what to do. There was no way in hell I was going to go into that stinky bathroom full of gross men peeing, and I was pretty sure Sesshomaru would never step foot in the pink stalls of the lady's powder room to stand in line for hours and hours, especially since it smells like a bloody flower shop with all the perfume the girls wear. Trust me; I avoided it like it was Hell on Earth.

Behind us, we could hear the calls of principle and a few of the teachers. They were closing in fast. Shit.

"The handicap bathroom!" I announced.

It was only a few meters from the main bathrooms and was reserved for those who couldn't fit or otherwise was outcast as totally different from the norm between humans and demons. Right now, Sesshomaru and I qualified. I for being pregnant and not able to stand in a glorious line for two hours, and for Sesshomaru being a grouchy dog demon who hated crowds and otherwise couldn't stand the stinky, unforgiving smell of the men's stained urinals. I heard they didn't even place those blue cake things in the urinals since they realized someone thought it was mints and was unintentionally eating them. They have suspicions it was the one of the pig demons. Those pig demons always did have a strange taste in food.

We moved into the dark and empty handicap bathroom, which smelled really fresh. Sweet, we were the first ones to use it today! I turned the lights on and waddled to the toilet. "Pee. Pee. Pee."

When your pregnant and need to pee, you need to pee. And when you go…I can honestly say it was absolute bliss! Heaven! Unconditionally amazing! This came to a close second in the best moments ever. First was sex of course.

I breathed in relief as I went. Sesshomaru stared at me when I went and I gave him the 'what' look. He rolled his eyes and continued to gaze around the small eleven by eleven foot room.

"Can't you hurry?" he asked.

"One does not rush a pee trip, Takahashi. You should know this already."

"If you haven't noticed, Rin, the longer we are in here the longer Anonymous is getting farther and farther away!" he spoke with force, before breathing and calming down. "I need to end this quick so we can move on with our lives without stress."

I sighed. "I know, but with a mob of teachers out there hunting us down, we'll have to remain low for a few minutes at least."

"They have passed us. Those human adults are fools if they think they can take me down. There is nothing that can defeat me."

This time it was me who rolled their eyes. "Probably not, but they can expel you."

"Even then, hunting Anonymous down will not stop me."

"But Takahashi, if you get expelled then your scholarship to Oxford…."

"Oxford is off the menu as long as Anonymous is out there." He kneeled down beside me. "Besides, you are pregnant. You and the child come first than anything in my life right now."

I shook my head slowly. "I can't let you just give up on your dreams for me and the baby, Sesshom—" and I almost called him by his first name for the second time today.

He chuckled. "I want you to say it, Rin. When you say my name, full blown electricity runs through my entire body."

Okay, I didn't want him to make me utterly speechless! Like cheese wiz people! I was still peeing…oh wait…And there goes the horn. I laughed when Sesshomaru made that face when he smelled something just plain disgusting.

"That was vulgar."

I smiled. "You're welcome."

He breathed heavily. "Are you done now?"

I nodded, standing up and washing my hands. "We can't go out there yet though."

Another growl.

I turned the tap off and looked at him through the mirror. "We need to devise a proper plan. And we also need a base of operation."

"Then what were you thinking?"

"This room will do fine."

"I am not planning a thing in a bathroom filled with your unforgiving gas."

I frowned. "I'm not that smelly, am I?"

"The only reason why I am alive is because I am a demon who can hold their breath for an extensive number of minutes."

"Fine, then where? And how do you suppose we get there without being caught."

"Rin, I told you already I don't care…."

"Well, I do! I want to graduate! And as long as we are connected…and I don't mean by the mate mark…we will be going everywhere together. That won't work if you're expelled and not allowed to step foot in the school. No, you are not getting caught and therefore we need to find a place."

He gave me a soft look. "I can't hide forever, Rin."

I blinked. "Then we'll think of something…"

"Rin, this isn't about finding a place to hide and therefore plan to defeat Anonymous. This is about me going to Oxford…why is it bothering you so much?"

I turned to him, leaning against the sink. His chest was right there, just a foot away. "I don't want you to give up on your dream…I've already told you. You'll be throwing your future away when you take yourself in. I don't want that. You've worked so hard and to just throw it away—"

"Will be the best decision I've ever made."

"What?" My eyes shot to his face.

"Rin, you are the most important thing to me right now. I can care less about some stupid scholarship. Besides, my future was already ruined when we mated for the first time. I knew what I was getting into when I decided to make a move. I knew the consequences."

"But…"

"I've already spoken to my Father, Rin. He's already set a job up for me in his company. A good one, in fact. I don't need Oxford anymore. All I need is you."

"Okay…now you're scaring me."

"Why?" he leaned forward. "Is it because I love you?"

Wait…what? Did he just…love? Me? I? You? Oh my lord! He had never said it before. My mouth grew dry. Words could not escape. I was…speechless didn't cut how I was feeling. My heart was racing like one of those horses chasing a fake rabbit around a track. My knees shook like a 10.0 magnitude earthquake hit. I was…

"Rin…?"

"Huh…."

"It's time to come back to Earth, Rin."

I blinked and pushed him…of course not fazing him. "I am on Earth you…dumb demon."

He chuckled. "And your names just keep getting worse and worse. That's one thing I love about you."

"Stop!"

"What?"

"Takahashi, you are really creeping me out with all this…love talk."

His eyes narrowed in my face. "Do you wish for me to be an emotionless beast that I really am and kill you where I stand?"

"Please!"

There was a moment of silence then, "No."

I shook my head, locking eyes with him. "I don't get it…why now? You have never said 'love' to me before so…why?"

His hand brushed over my cheek, giving me the chills. "I guess…time."

"That makes no sense."

He grinned, leaning his forehead on mine. "Good. Then you can figure it out."

"That's no fair."

"Tough," he kissed my nose. Great, now I was blushing. "I promise you this, Rin, when I kill Anonymous, everything will return to normal."

"Except we won't fight like we did."

"Perhaps we can," he grinned. "How about once a week?"

"Tuesdays are good." I smiled.

"Then Tuesdays it is." He kissed my forehead. Everything grew quiet again, and when I thought he wasn't going to say something, he did. "Rin, when this is over, I want to marry you."

I leaned back slightly to look into his eyes, with only one question in my mind.

"What?"
