hi! im alive and trying to get back into the swing of things.

Chapter 26

You need to watch your jokes

I knew I should've worn protective underwear today! If I had known that Sesshomaru would take off like Peter Pan, dragging me with him, then I wouldn't have almost peed my pants. Controlling the bladder is harder than it looks when you're pregnant.

But here I was, hanging onto dear life while Sesshomaru glided through the chilling air. Yes, I screamed in his ear on how he was an idiot, but did he listen? Nope. Because he is Sesshomaru Takahashi: the demon who gives no fucks.

"And why couldn't we take the car again?" I yelled out.

"I need to let off some steam," he said in his normal tone.

If I wasn't so close to him, I probably would've heard it at all. But that didn't stop me from having some fun.

"You need to get some cream?" I asked back.

"No! I need to let off some steam!"

"You won't be on the team? What team?"

He turned his head, and narrowed his eyes at me. I only gave him an innocent smile as we descended towards the school.

As our feet touched, I gave him a pat on his shoulder while he still gave me the cold glare. Reminded me so much of when we were still best of enemies. "Don't worry, if it makes you feel better, I probably wouldn't be able to keep up when you tried out for the team. Plus, I can't drink coffee so no cream for you. Unless it's on cake, then why not?"

"We're going be late," Sesshomaru commented, taking my hand, and pulling me inside.

But once inside, a vibration hit my pocket, making me and Sesshomaru stop in our tracks. I gave him a small smile and shook my head. "I'll look at it later. It's probably just Kaede."

I couldn't concentrate in English class, and not because Mrs. Abe was showing us boring films. My phone would not stop buzzing. I knew it was Anonymous, but I didn't want Sesshomaru to get all heated up and destroy a wall or something.

When the bell rang, I knew that I would have to look sooner or later.

So I pulled the phone out just as people were shuffling out of the room, and looked.

How long until you realize that he will only betray you again? –Anonymous

My thoughts went straight to Sesshomaru. He had 'betrayed' me before, but told me it was nothing but a joke, a stupid game between him and his friends, and his feeling for me were true. He had made me his mate, asked me to marry him, and I was even pregnant with his child. So how could he be lying to me? Could he betray me again? I eyed him carefully as he gathered our things, catching my stare.

"What is it?" he asked.

I shook my head. "Nothing."

"Rin, you got a text message from Anonymous." Well, that didn't take long. I shook my head at his words. "Don't lie. I couldn't concentrate through class from the persistent buzzing. Give me your phone, please," he said, holding his right hand out.

I gave it to him without any argument. He would've kept asking and…it would be annoying as the buzzing. I watched his expression turn dark as he flipped the phone back. His eyes blazed, turning white into red. He growled low in his throat that made my hairs stand on end. He grabbed my cuffed wrist, and started to pull me from the room.

"Let's go," he growled.

"Takahashi, where…" I didn't need to finish my question as we went into the library and headed to where Naraku sat.

We stopped right in front of him, and I didn't need to mention that angry glares of students nearby. Sesshomaru slammed my phone on the desk so hard that it was probably broken. Great. I sighed as he started to go off on Naraku.

"I'm done with your games. Tell us the truth now, Naraku. Why are you sending Rin anonymous messages?"

He gave us a confused look that made me shake my head at Sesshomaru's actions. "I have no idea what you're talking about," he answered.

"Takahashi…" I started. "…it isn't him."

"Shhh!" several people in the library spoke up.

"Let's go before we get in trouble," I whispered to him.

"Not until he answers my question!" he snapped, leaning forward and grabbing the collar of Naraku's shirt. Now we're definitely getting into trouble. "Tell me why you are doing this! And if you confess, I might spare your miserable existence."

I honestly had never seen Sesshomaru like this before. Seeing him like his made me realize how dangerous he could be. He was a demon: a killer.

"I still don't know what you're talking about," Naraku's voice shaking with fear.

I started to try to pry Sesshomaru's hand away. "Takahashi, it isn't him, please stop!"

"I barely know Rin; I would never do anything like that."

"But you are related to Kagura, am I correct?"

"Yes, she's my cousin, but I don't associate with her often."

A loud clearing of a voice interrupted behind us and I turned to see the librarian standing there furious. Her finger pointed to the door, and that's when I looked around to see the audience we had gathered. Why did this always happen?

"Takahashi, let's just go." I looked at Naraku. "Naraku, I'm so sorry. My boyfriend is just trying to protect me."

Sesshomaru let him go, his eyes still blaring red. Then we left, people still glaring at our backs like we were some kind of drama show.

"Takahashi…you need to stop."

He stopped and turned to me. "I don't need to stop anything. If you think that this text message is true…"

"It's not," I cut him off. "I know it's not."

He took a deep breath and calmed down.

"We'll figure this out. But it's not Naraku."

"How do you know that?"

"I don't! It could be anyone of these people! But we can't start threatening those around us to tell the truth."

He shook his head, brushing his finger against my cheek. "You know, you're the only one who's keeping me calm in all of this."

I smiled. "I'm trying."

But the words etched into my phone screen didn't leave my mind. And as Sesshomaru leaned down and planted a small kiss on my lips, I wondered if they could be true or not.

Nah…

xXx

I couldn't stop moving my leg up and down. Man, this was too nerve-racking, and it didn't help that the women in this room were overly pregnant. Gods, I was the youngest one here. Why was I cursed?

Sesshomaru's hand moved to rest on my leg, stopping the shaking. "Relax, Rin," he whispered in my ear. "All will be well."

"Yeah, say that to me when I'm pushing this thing out of my uterus."

"Rin Mori?" the nurse called me.

I stood up, my legs shook, and Sesshomaru helped me into the back. The table covered with a thin, white paper, intimidated me to the brink of my extinction. It was tautening, whispering to me: "HA! This won't go well for you little girl." Fuck that table!

I got onto that table, lying down and grasping Sesshomaru like I was a child getting a shot. I better be getting a sucker after this.

A young woman dressed in purple nurse clothes came in and smiled. "Alright, Rin; are you ready to see your baby?"

I nodded. Or at least I think I nodded.

She pulled my shirt up and placed cold, clear gel on my stomach. I bit my lip when she turned the lights off and started to move the gel around with this heated stick. Then from the monitor I heard it. The slight sounds of a thumping.

"That's your baby's heartbeat. Sounds very strong," she commented.

I looked at Sesshomaru, whose eyes were wide and stared at the screen.

My eyes moved to the screen were a small black and white mass appeared in the middle of the grey surrounding it.

"And that is your baby right there. You seem to be around ten weeks. At eighteen you can find out the gender."

She turned the lights back on and my eyes blinked to the brightness. I whipped the goo off my stomach and walked out hand and hand with Sesshomaru.

"This is unreal," I said, looking at the ultrasound pictures.

But Sesshomaru didn't say anything.

"Takahashi?"

"Yes, it's insane that this is happening."

I smiled up at him. "Mind if we stop by the mall? I'm craving ice cream."

He chuckled. "You and your cravings."

He took a hold of my waist and jumped into the air. Was it strange that I was getting used to this? It was almost calming being in the air. Humans can't fly? Bullshit! All you need was a flying dog demon! Sold in stores near you! All parts sold separately.

But my stomach was still growling and ice cream was calling. The mall came into view and we dropped down at the entrance. My happiness level was at its maximum going inside. I had a great fiancé and a baby on the way. Yeah, sure I had some creepy guy stalking me, but my bodyguard was a demon, and I doubt he was going anywhere anytime soon. However, when we got inside, we were met with our favourite demon in the world, and my smile fell from my face.

Her red eyes caught ours and my cuffed hand took a hold of Sesshomaru's.

"Well, well, look who it is," she said, flaunting her model walk to us, "my favourite people. Sesshy, did you become sexier or something?"

And that was when he pounced. His hand right hand shot for her throat, lifting her off the ground. Her friends gasped at the sight. Oh god, not again.

"Give me one reason why I shouldn't squeeze the life out of you right now, Kagura?"

"Because I have nothing on you," she wheezed.

"Takahashi, drop her now," I demanded.

He did. Kagura coughed, regaining her voice. "That's right, puppy. Do what your owner asks. That's what you're good at. "

He growled low. "Don't give me your shit, Kagura. I want one thing from you. To tell me who Anonymous is."

"Ah ah," she shook her finger, "that's not how the game works, Sesshy. You know that, and well as her. You want to know who Anonymous is, I already told you all about that. I'm not giving you any more hints."

His growl became louder. If I do something, we would have a murder scene at our feet. "Kagura, please, end this." I said.

"And why should I do that? You took my boyfriend from me, Rin. Why should I help you in return? You are nothing more than a disgusting whore."

"Silence your mouth before I silence it for you," Sesshomaru warned.

"Wow, Sesshy, you are such a great actor. But I wonder, how long until you crack under the pressure of one human girl."

"You need to watch your jokes."

"Do I? Or is it you that needs to watch your jokes. She doesn't even know what we're talking about, but she will. In time."

She turned around, leaving me utterly confused and concerned. My appetite was gone and I felt like I was going to vomit.

"I will kill her, and if I wasn't attached to these things, I would follow her and track down Anonymous in hours."

"But would you?" I asked. "Or would you leave again, and say this was all a fake?"

"Are you serious? Rin, I told you not to listen to her or that damn text message you got! She works for Anonymous and will do anything to keep you from not trusting me. She just wants us to be separated from these cuffs so I would leave your side for a second, and let her and Anonymous get you. As much as I hate these things, they are keeping you safe from them. If only we had proof to take Kagura down."

"Maybe we do."

"We don't. Those messages mean nothing."

"No, but we can find another way to prove it."

He raised an eyebrow at me. "So you came up with another awful plan?"

"Hey, my plans aren't awful," I grabbed his hand. "Let's go."

It was time to take down the witch once and for all.
