As much as I wish I did on these characters I don't. I'm just a fan telling a story. Hope you Enjoy!

Linda's First Time to Sunday Dinner~ 1995-96ish

Linda's heels clipped the pavement as she walked swiftly. Panic bubbling through her, she could turn and run, call him and tell her she was just too scarred. She had known of the Reagan family all her life, well at least since high school. She didn't know them personally very well, she had seen Erin queening the halls of their mutual catholic high school, she heard that Erin was at Columbia studying pre-law. Joe, she had seen a couple times at school and she had occasionally seen the youngest Jamie at mass, as well as Mr. Frank Reagan and Mrs. Mary Reagan . She pressed the crease out of her blue dress as she stopped just on the corner where she could see the house. She knew that his grandfather Henry Reagan was the police commissioner and that Ms. Betty had talked to her on a few occasions after mass. She would be having dinner with that family today. Oh, those Sunday lunches that she had heard the Reagan friends talk about how, no matter what plans were going on, the Reagan kids were always at home for dinner on Sundays. He had flashed her a quick smile right before service started. That damn smile that had gotten her into this trouble in the first place. Danny freaking Reagan. Who would have thought that would be the man she had fallen in love with, the man who fought for a chance with her for a year before she finally actually went on a date with her. Now a year later she was in this predicament, she hadn't been able focus on the sermon as she ran all the ways that meeting his family could go sideways. All she had been able to do was stare at the back of the Reagans Heads. What if they didn't like her? She was so different then any of Danny's other girlfriends, hell she was still surprised he was in love with her. This was a family of cops, and she was a nurse. A damn good nurse, but she saw the aftermath of what they saw first hand. Her feet now refused to move on, once she turned the corner there was no going back. Danny was probably watching out the window for her. They had agreed not to tell his family who he was dating, she had been petrified that he was just going after her because he couldn't have her. She didn't want to be humiliated if he dumped her just a few weeks after dating, so she had asked him to keep it secret for a little while. He had agreed reluctantly, but had kept his promise faithfully. Now, he was about to introduce her as his girlfriend, the mysterious woman. She knew there were rumors circulating on what woman had tamed the wild streak out of Danny Reagan and she was proud of what she had accomplished in making Danny Reagan a tame..no a tamer version bucking bronco of his youth. They had in fact been dating for a year and she no longer doubted that Danny was just after her because she was a trophy he couldn't have. He was bringing her to Sunday Dinner for God's Sake.

"You can do this Linda!" She said out loud but they felt like empty words. Her feet finally got the signal that she wanted them to move. "If you can be a trauma nurse and see GSW and be in gruesome surgeries you can meet the man you love's family!" She reprimanded herself as she finished walking down the sidewalk, climbing up the stairs to the front door, her trembling hand pressed the doorbell.

"Danny who is it!" Erin demanded. Danny sighed as Erin repeated the question yet again. He wasn't going to answer it.

"Erin, you are going to meet her in ten minutes, you can wait that long." Mary scolded her daughter. He breathed a silent prayer of relief at his mother's rescue

"Mom really? You are taking his side. He's been dating this girl for over a year and we have no idea who she is." Erin cried, throwing her hands up in despair.

"Give him a break. We should be thanking this woman for making Danny bearable." Joe teased.

" Joe, you go help Jaime set the table, Erin, lay off the third degree on your brother," Frank's voice boomed into the living room.

"Why do I have to help?" Joe cried indignantly. Danny glared at Jamie,

"Youngests always sets the table." Grandma Betty said, "Now hurry up, dinner is almost ready and the table won't set itself."

"Yes Grandma." Joe sighed, leaving the living room.

"Danny, do you mind sharing with us at least the name of this girl who has caught your heart?" Frank asked his oldest son coming up behind him as he stared out the window. "Really Dad".

"How many times do I have to say, she asked me not to say and I promised I wouldn't." Danny responded. Why can't they just let him keep his secrets

"Well, keep your secrets." Mary remarked.

"I'M TRYING TO" He screamed mentally

He knew they were all burning with curiosity. Ever since he stopped partying at clubs late, made it church every Sunday and started getting his life together about a year and a half ago, everyone knew something in his life had changed. He had been trying to prove to Linda that he was serious about dating her. Six months later, once she finally agreed, he started having weekly plans and that did not go unnoticed by the rest of the group, he stopped being as reckless but he was so careful to never reveal what changed. He knew why she wanted to keep it secret, he had never shown that he really stayed long and she didn't want to get hurt. Once he slipped up and revealed she was a nurse, and that sent their collective minds running trying to trace any aquanitence who was a nurse, all turning up empty though. Attempting to pry any little bit of information out of him, Erin, Joe and Jamie all teamed up with assaults to get as much information as they could. To his own surprise, he had managed to stay ahead so even Dad didn't know who his mystery girl was. Fooling the police commissioner was harder and Danny, as of now, was unsure if his Grandfather was aware of the identity of the love of his life. To be honest he enjoyed fooling his family, he enjoyed them always assaulting him with questions about his "mystery woman" . Joe had even proposed the idea that maybe there was no girl and that he was faking a girlfriend just because Erin had started dating. As these thoughts ran through his head he saw a flash of blue. Linda, his girl, was making her way up the steps to the house. He ran faster, faster than after any perp to get the door before Erin. There was a rush to all areas of the house to get to a place where a person could see who was standing at the door.

"Hey." He greeted as he opened the door.

He relished the collective gasp, I knew its, and pure shock that went through his family.

"Hey." Linda smiled back at him. She was nervous, he could tell, she always chewed her lip when she was nervous.

"Guys this is my girlfriend Linda O'Shea." Danny introduced.

"You think, we can see her! We've known her this whole time!" Erin cried. "JOE, how did we not see this!" Erin slapped her brother's shoulder.

The family broke into roars of laughter at Erin's reaction, breaking the tension in the air.

"Welcome Linda to our Home." Mary recovered first.

"Dinner is ready, come get seated." Betty added, pushing Jamie towards the dining room.

Linda breathed a sigh of relief. Their secret was out, she was the "mystery woman". They had responded better than she expected, and to be honest she was going to be laughing about this for a while. The nervousness melted away as dinner continued. She was asked questions about her job and which hospital she worked at. She felt accepted and to be honest she loved the family dynamic around the table. She would be happy to spend her Sundays around a table as this, especially with Danny's hand clasped in hers under the table.

I hope you enjoyed this little short story idea that came out of nowhere and I just had to get it out. It has inspired me to write a collection of one shots of different people at the Reagan dinner table. I don't know how often I will update, depends on my other story schedule. I tried my best to get the ages and birth order right but even the writers themselves are confused on who is born when. For the purpose of this short story the birth order and ages in this story are as follows.
Danny: 21-22ish

Erin: 19-20ish

Joe: 18

Jamie: 15

I maybe incorrect about the ages/birth order but it's just how I'm going to be doing it.

Love Eliza

P.S if you have any characters you want to see at the Dinner Table feel free to ask and I will try to accommodate you, but no promises :)
