The day was clear and the sun was shining while giving off a little of its heat, a perfect day to go out or take a walk with the family.
"Papa! Mama! Swing!" pointed a little girl with long silver hair with a purple forelock.
"Hey Alas=Ramus, do you want to get on the swing?" the father asked his little daughter.
"Swing! Swing!"
"Fine, I'll go up with you."
"With Papa! On the swing with Papa!" the little girl smiled happily.
The little girl's "Papa" was none other than Sadao Maou, or better known as the Demon King of another world.
"Emi! You come too!"
"Mama! Mama! Come!"
The woman who was called "Mama" by the little girl was Emi Yusa, also known as Emilia Justina or Emilia the Hero, in another world.
Emi sighed, but seeing the small scene of a supposed father and his daughter together on the swing was enough to make a small smile appear on her face.
Emi gripped the handles and got ready to push. "Ready for blast off!" she joked.
At the same time, Maou chuckled and Alas=Ramus pumped her small fist in the air.
After a while, Emi released the swing and giggled at the combined yelling of Alas=Ramus and Maou.
Once the swing finally came to a halt, Alas=Ramus gave Emi a look and reached out her arms. "Mama's turn now," she said with a cute smile that would be hard to deny.
Emi laughed nervously and replaced Maou's position on the seat with a firm grip on Alas=Ramus.
"Hey, don't worry, I will make sure the swing doesn't rock too much," Maou whispered with a playful wink and a smile, fully knowing about Emi's motion sickness.
Emi pouted and blushed in annoyance waiting for the swing to take off.
Emi thought to herself how Maou was so considerate towards her and how he's been so nice to her, even though there was a lot of bad blood between them before. All those feelings seemed to fade away from her heart and were now replaced with warm feelings for Maou; they still fought, but neither meant it, and with Alas=Ramus, they were even closer and looking more like a real family as days passed.
These thoughts were broken when Emi felt the swing move. She tightened her grip on Alas=Ramus so the little girl wouldn't fall.
'Faster! Faster, Papa!" Alas=Ramus exclaimed.
Little did they know they were being watched by two people from afar: Rika Suzuki, Emi's best friend and Chiho Sasaki, Maou's coworker and a mutual friend. Chiho also nursed a huge crush for Maou – the scene before her didn't sit well with her at all.
Oh, why did she let Rika-san talk her into watching the three of them, Chiho thought.
"They look too cute! I'm gonna take their picture," Rika exclaimed as she took out her phone to snap a quick shot.
While Rika was looking for a perfect angle for a picture, Alas=Ramus was excited about being on the swing with her ''mama'' and getting pushed by her ''papa'' – it was the perfect family moment for her and the child had the biggest smile on her face.
''Higher, Papa! Higher!" the little girl said to Maou in a happy and excited voice.
Maou was trying his best to hold back, for Emi's sake, but Alas=Ramus kept insisting. With no other choice, Maou started to push the swing with a little more force. Emi noticed that she was moving a bit faster, and higher, than usual.
''What do you think you're doing!?'' Emi panicked.
''I can't help it! Can't you just bear with it for a while?" Maou said in a slightly joking tone.
With Rika and Chiho spying on the happy family, Alas=Ramus having the time of her life, Emi on the verge of nausea with cold sweat, and Maou just enjoying the scene, it was just another ''normal'' day at the park.
They stayed like this for a few more minutes, until Maou noticed that poor Emi was reaching her limit. When he stopped pushing the swing, Emi let out a sigh and Alas=Ramus looked at him questioningly.
"Papa? You didn't push?"
"Let's leave it for now. Mama won't hold on long if we keep going, let's let her relax a little, okay? Let's go sit down over there."
"Mama? Are you okay?" asked the little girl as she looked at her mother.
"Y-Yes" Emi said forcing a smile. "It's only a slight dizziness. Don't worry Alas=Ramus, Mama will feel better soon."
"You can get up, right?" Maou asked this time.
Emi could only stay silent and look away nervously. She did not want to admit that the dizziness was affecting her quite badly, since father and daughter were obviously having fun in the park. Emi did not want to ruin the moment because of a silly discomfort.
Seeing Emi's lack of response, Maou could only sigh.
He took Alas=Ramus and put her on the ground next to him, then proceeded to lift and carry Emi – princess-style – to a nearby bench under the cool shadow of a tree.
"E-eh?! Maou?!"
"If you can't, just say it, idiot. You don't have to be ashamed of that." Emi blushed and avoided Maou's eye.
"But seriously, are you okay? Do you need anything?" he asked, voice laced with concern.
Emi, suddenly feeling shy and embarrassed, shook her head from left to right. She already wanted this time in the park to be over.
"Don't worry-I'm fine-enjoy time with Alas=Ramus," Emi said in defeat.
Maou was not used to seeing this side of Emi, which sent up red flags. He sat beside her and motioned for Alas=Ramus to join them under the shade.
"Hey Alas=Ramus, let's take a break yeah?"
"Yea!" Alas=Ramus exclaimed as Maou carried her onto his lap.
Silence fell between the three of them, but it was far more comforting than awkward.
"Heh, they really look like a family" muttered Rika as she lowered her camera from the sight of what it seemed to be a family unit settling down and enjoying the peace they shared within each other.
Chiho, even though there was a bubbling sense of jealously building up, smiled in relief that Emi and Maou were getting along better.
Back to Emi, Maou and Alas=Ramus, the "parents" let Alas=Ramus try every ride there was in that park until evening, when it was time to go back home.
"Hey Alas=Ramus, it's time to head back okay? Papa and mama both have work in the morning."
"Okie," said Alas=Ramus cutely, a hint of sadness in her voice.
"Mama, Papa, Alas=Ramus, hold hands," she made a request to both of her adoptive parents to hold hands with her to which they didn't deny nor mind at all.
So they held Alas=Ramus little hands, one on each side, and started walking towards home.
Rika took a picture of them at that exact moment.
"Aw, I've never seen Emi so happy before, I am really happy for her that she found her happiness," Rika said as she put down her camera and looked at the "family" with a satisfied smile.
Chiho was really quiet all this time. She just nodded her head, "Shall we go Rika-san?"
"Ya, let's head back!"
"WHEN DID YOU TAKE THESE?!" Emi was so shocked seeing the photos that Rika took.
'I couldn't help it! You guys looked so cute! God! Just marry already."
Emi rolled her eyes, but kept staring at one particular picture where all three of them were just holding hands; Maou and Emi looking at Alas=Ramus and smiling slightly.
'I think I'll keep this one," Emi thought.
