I do not own Iron Man or the Avengers.
When he made it home, he checked on Biela, who was still sleeping, and assembled the Expo model in his lab.
"Jarvis, could you kindly vacu-form a digital wire frame? I need a manipulable projection."
A blue light scanned across the board, covering everything in blue light. Once it had crossed, Jarvis said, "1974 Stark Expo scan complete, sir."
Tony held out his hands and lifted the image up, carrying it across the room.
"How many buildings are there?" he asked.
"Am I to include the Belgian waffle stands?" Jarvis asked.
"It was rhetorical, just show me." He set the image down and snapped his fingers. It began to spin, and ended up facing him vertically.
"What does that look like to you, Jarvis?" he asked. "Not unlike an atom, in which case the nucleus would be here," he said, touching the globe that marked the center of the Expo. Highlight the Unisphere," he ordered. The globe lit up. Tony held out his hands and expanded it.
After a moment, he said, "Lose the footpaths. Get rid of them!" He swiped them away.
"What is it you're trying to achieve, sir?" Jarvis asked.
"I'm discovering – correction, I'm rediscovering – a new element. Lose the landscape and the shrubbery, the trees," he said, swiping them away. "Parking lots, exits, entrances," he continued, swiping them all away. His voice got quieter. "Structure the protons and neutrons with the pavilions as a framework," he ordered, using his hands to move all of the pavilions into the Unisphere. He thrust his hands out and it expanded around him, encasing him in a sphere of blue light. He gazed around at it.
"Dead for almost twenty years, and still taking me to school," he said. He shrunk the atom down so it sat in the palm of his hand.
"The proposed element should serve as a viable replacement for palladium," Jarvis said.
"Thanks, Dad," Tony said.
"Unfortunately, it is impossible to synthesize," Jarvis continued.
"Uh-huh," Tony said, not believing it for a second. He looked over at Dummy. "Get ready for a major remodel, fellas! We're back in hardware mode!"
Biela came downstairs to see her dad with a jackhammer, destroying the living room.
"Do I want to know?" she asked once he turned it off.
"I've rediscovered a new element that will serve as a replacement for palladium," he said. "But I've got to build a particle accelerator to synthesize it."
"And you're building this where?"
"The garage," he said simply. "Wanna help?"
"Are you going to apologize for sedating me?"
"Bee, I am very sorry for sedating you, but I didn't want you going straight to Coulson, since you're all buddy-buddy with him now."
She thought a moment. "I'll accept that. So...particle accelerator?"
"Do you know how to build a particle accelerator?" Tony asked.
She nodded. "I have a book on it."
Tony smirked. "Then let's go."
