This is a Dean chapter! Seth comes next

Sat at the kitchen table Colton happily shoveled his favorite chocolate chip pancakes into his mouth. Renee smiled watching his little feet swing back and forth under his chair. Dean's flight was arriving within the hour and they were both excited to pick him up.

"Alright syrup boy clean your face and we'll go pick up daddy"

Grinning Colton raced off to the bathroom, his little sock feet sliding around the corner.

Renee loaded up the dishwasher and wiped off the counter, this weekend they planned to take Colton to go visit Santa. Both her and Dean could not wait to give Colton the Christmas he deserved.

"Ready momma!" Sneakers on the wrong feet, syrup still smudged on his cheeks and his hair stuck up from his forehead where he swiped the cloth across. He was everything a little boy should be, and it brought tears to her eyes.

Seeing the tears in Renee's eyes Colton's eyes widened and his tummy turned. "Momma? I'm sorry did I do it wrong?" Little fingers felt around his mouth gulping when he felt sticky syrup against his fingertips. His cheeks reddened with shame.

"Oh, baby no" Renee whispered leaning down to kiss his head "Momma's just so happy that you're here with me"

Burying his face into her stomach Colton wrapped his little arms around as tight as he could. He loved Renee, more then he even understood some days. "Love you momma"

"I love you, to the moon and back" She whispered kissing his nose. "Now come on let's get that last little bit of syrup off or you're going to stick to daddy!"

Dean leaned back in his seat as he felt the plane begin its descent. It had only been two days and he was going insane. He could not wait to wrap his arms around Renee and Colton. Since the trial was over Colton was pure joy, always smiling.

After grabbing his bags Dean practically ran through the airport. He was glancing around looking for the two blondes who ran his world when the little voice he had been missing most rang through the airport.

"DADDY!"

A blur of blonde hair and dinosaurs raced across the airport before launching himself into Dean's arms.

"Hey champ!"

Colton giggled and tucked himself into Dean's arms as Renee leaned over to give him a soft kiss.

"Missed ya roughneck"

"Missed you more"

Loading up into the truck they headed home idly chatting back and forth.

"So, guess where we're going tonight bud?" Dean teased watching Colton's eyebrows furrow in the rear-view. He shrugged his shoulders and stared at Renee; he was not sure.

"We're going to go visit Santa" Dean grinned his dimples showing through. He was excited to give his little boy the Christmas he deserved. Colton beamed back at him but both grown ups failed to notice the uneasiness in his eyes.

Colton had never had a Christmas before; he had always assumed Santa knew he was a bad boy. If they went and saw Santa surely, he would tell them how bad he really was! He gulped and shifted in his seat his tummy somersaulting.

Parking the truck in the driveway Dean glanced back to see Colton throwing the door open and running for the grass.

"Colt! What's up?"

Leaned over the front lawn Colton threw up his breakfast. Renee turned him around when he was finished kneeling to feel his clammy forehead.

"Oh, baby you're sheet white, you must have eaten too many pancakes" Renee sighed she had not stop him from eating three. He was so mature for his age she often forgot that he needed to be helped along like any other 4-year-old.

"Momma I don't feel good" He whimpered resting against her. He was not sick from eating too many pancakes, but he could not tell them the real reason, so he went with it.

"Let's get you washed up and see if we can fix that sore stomach hey bud?" Dean scooped his son into his arms and carried him into the house.

A couple hours later Colton was giggling and running around the house chasing Dean. His sore stomach seemed to settle immediately after, and Renee was so relieved. They had big plans for tonight.

"Alright I'm going to get ready. You two can handle yourselves, right?" Renee teased earning a huff from both boys. "Alright go on then"

"Where we going daddy?" Colton asked as Dean helped him change his socks and pants for a clean pair of dark colored jeans.

"Santa remember?" Dean murmured adjusting Colton's sock. Damn these tiny things he could barely keep his own on!

Colton's stomach lurched and he ran from his dad's arms into the washroom. Dean cocked his head listening as his son threw up again. Colton had been fine all morning after he had been sick. It was not the pancakes and they had all the same thing for lunch.

"Fuck it's only when we talk about Santa" Dean groaned smacking himself on the head. Standing up he headed for the bathroom and his heart broke when he saw Colton curled against the toilet. His little head rested against the lid.

"C'mere Colt" he said softly opening his arms for his son to curl into his chest. Taking his fingers, he gently tilted Colton's chin, so their eyes met. "Why are you afraid of Santa?"

Renee having heard all the fuss leaned against the doorway behind them. Colton whimpered and hung his head. They were going to hate him. He was a permanent fixture on Santa's bad list.

"Santa never bringed me presents, I'm a bad boy" He whispered, and Renee's heart broke all over again. How could anyone deny a little boy Christmas. Inside Dean's blood thrummed through his veins, if only he could get 5 minutes alone with that sick son of a bitch.

"You're not a bad boy Colt" Dean murmured kissing his head and rubbing his back. Renee sat on the edge of the tub beside him leaning into his shoulder as she ran her hand across Colton's head.

"But Santa never came momma" Colton sobbed against his dad's chest. He always wanted to get a present and to see Santa. He would see the pretty lights and the decorations but only ever from afar.

"Parents have to let Santa in the house baby, if Jay told Santa no then he couldn't get in. It was not your fault. Santa knows you're a great little boy"

Colton lifted his head hope sparkling in his bright green eyes, he did not know that. Maybe Santa didn't think he was bad after all.

"Really?"

Dean nodded his head and smiled "It's true we even had to sign a piece of paper saying Santa could come in our house. So, what do you say? Why don't we let Santa tell you himself huh?"

"Kay" Colton grinned and charged into his room grabbing his clothes to get ready. Dean dressed in his dark jeans and black polo shirt, Renee wore her black leggings with a simple white top and Colton was in his dark jeans and his black and red checkered button up.

Driving to the mall Dean and Renee chatted back and forth while Colton looked out the window. He was excited now. Maybe Santa liked him after all!

After waiting in line for what felt like hours it was finally Colton's turn. He gripped Dean's hand as Santa said goodbye to the other little boy and turned to Colton.

"Colton! My boy!" He boomed opening his arms and smiling widely. Giving him a nudge Dean and Renee nodded watching as he ran over.

"I'm so glad you're here! I sent the paper over to your mommy and daddy, I have so many presents sitting in my shop waiting for you!"

"Really?"

Renee wiped her tears before they began to fall. She had phoned ahead and explained the situation and the girls and Santa had been more then happy to help. Motioning them over they posed for their first family picture grabbing a copy before heading to the food court for a snack.

Colton was bouncing he was so happy.

"I told Santa I wanted stuffs for Rhysee to daddy!"

While Dean watched Renee and Colton talk back and forth, he fidgeted with the box in his pocket. The moment needed to be absolutely perfect. But was this it?
