( chapter 1 - The Big Duel )
It's a beautiful summer day in Domino City and Alexis Rhodes step onto a bus that will take her away from the city.
Nearly a year ago, Alexis met Jaden again after many years and they fell in love with each other.
Despite their feelings, the two of them both decided to not date.
Jaden wanted to travel more to rediscover his passion for dueling and Alexis herself wanted to focus on finding a good job.
She did find it.
Alexis was made the new head of the Obelis Blue female dorn at Duel Academy.
Having had a couple weeks off, Alexis is now on the way back to Duel Academy again.
The bus will take her to the airport where a plane is waiting to fly her out to the Academy island.
When she get to the airport, Alexis yawn a bit, feeling slightly tired.
Onboard the plane, Alexis sees another person, a man.
The man wear a long black overcoat, sunglasses and a fedora hat so it is impossible to see who he is.
And being tired, Alex doesn't care right now.
She take her seat and only a few seconds later she is asleep.
Had she not been tired, Alexis might have noticed the man's body shape, the bit of red tat can seen, a red leather t-shirt under his coat and the old very worn duel disk on the seat next to the man.
It is a Slifer Red disk that loo very worn as if it has been through many serious adventures.
The man is Jaden.
Jaden is on the way to the Academy upon the request of Chancellor Nicole Redent to duel against a pro-duelist in honor of the anniversary of the Academy.
Seto Kaiba requested Yugi Muto's presence so that Kaiba and Yugi could duel again for the first time in many years, but Yugi refused so Kaiba ordered Nicole to ask Jaden instead.
Jaden accepted without a single tiny doubt.
Though since Jaden is a duelist of another generation, Kaiba didn't feel it would be he himself who would duel Jaden so Kaiba brought in another duelist instead, a man with plenty of pro-leauge experience.
Upon arrival at Academy island, Alexis and Jadens tep off the plane.
Alexis now notice the duel disk the man carry.
"Hello, my name is..." begins Alexis with a friendly smile.
"...Alexis Rhodes. I know." says Jaden.
"Jaden...?" says Alexis, who of course recognize Jaden's voice.
"Yup, babe. It's me." says Jaden as he take off his hat and sunglasses.
"Nice. What are you here for?" says Alexis.
"The anniversary duel. Rdent invited me, but didn't tell me who my opponent will be." says Jaden.
"So, they picked you huh? Welcome, back, former slacker." says Chazz Princeton as he step ourt from the shadows of a building.
"Chazz? Is it a good idea for you to duel...? As far as I know you were in hospital, barely able to walk..." says Jaden.
"I recover fast, old friend. And I couldn't miss the chance to face you again, for old fucking time's sake, not that I feel nostalgic, but still. I've prepared a deck just for this so don't dare to back out." says Chazz, just as confident as ever.
"There's no way I'd back out now, dude. Ya better be fully healthy 'cause I'll be bringin' my best, no less." says Jaden.
"Welcome, guys. Good seeing everyone again." says Syrus as he appear.
"Hi, man." says Jaden.
2 days later.
"Duel Academy, today on our great anniversary we're having a special duel in honor of this special time. Allow me to introduce Mr Jaden Yuki and...his former rival...Sir Chazz Princeton." says Chancellor Nicole Redent.
"I've dreamt about this for years." says Chazz.
"Awww, sweet that ya've missed me, Chazz. Kinda cute." says Jaden.
"Don't fool yourself. I was talking about dueling you. There's no one else I desire to defeat more." says Chazz.
"Ya might just get ready to desire that for the rest of your life, since I'm not goin' to lose. Not here, on this important day." says Jaden.
"Okay, Jaden. Let's duel." says Chazz.
"I summon Elemental Hero Avian in defense mode and I also throw out a couple face-downs, in case ya got something nasty waitin' in the wings." says Jaden.
"There's stuff in my deck ready to kick your ass, believe me. This, for example. Dark Blade, in attack mode." says Chazz.
Dark Blade destroy Elemental Hero Avian.
"Killin' my good ol' hero set off my trap...Hero Signal." says Jaden.
"Same man as always, are you?" says Chazz.
"Only in certain ways. The hero of my choice is...Sparkman." says Jaden.
"You've not changed much, Jaden." says Chazz. "Not when it comes to dueling."
"Really? You'll be surprised. My turn. First I'll bring Avian back to my hand with the spell Warrior Returning Alive. Then I summon him to the field. And I play Polymerization to combine my two heroes, creating the magnificent Elemental Hero Storm Hawk." says Jaden.
"What the fuck's that...?" says Chazz.
"Ya remember Chumley, right? When I went seein' him at Industrial Illusion a couple months ago he gave me some brand new cards, man." says Jaden. "Thunder Tornado Attack!"
Elemental Hero Storm Hawk destroy dark Blade and deal a large amount of damage to Chazz's life points.
"Interesting. I give you that, but I won't let you defet me again after all these years." says Chazz. "I summon Chthonian Guardian and use his effect to summon Chthonian Emperor in attack mode. I also play a card face down."
"Kinda badass. He won't be able to take down my hero though. The two monsters have the exact same attack points." says Jaden.
"True." says Chazz.
"Alexis, who do you think's going to win?" says Syrus.
"I can't really predict. I've no idea what cards are in their decks these days so it's impossible to say who's got the advantage." says Alexis.
"I discard my entire hand to activate Storm Hawk's special ability. He can now remove one monster on the field from play for the rest of the duel if that monster is face up and I select the only other monster available, your Emperor. Say goodbye to him." says Jaden.
Chthonian Emperor is removed from play.
"You shouldn't have done that. When my Chthonian Emperor is destroyed or removed from play, his effect activates. It allows me to summon his wife, Chthonian Empress and I place her in defense mode, for now, at least." says Chazz.
"She won't take an attack from Storm Hawk." says Jaden.
"Really? Attack then and we'll see if you're correct." says Chazz.
"Elemental Hero Storm Hawk, destroy the Chthonian Empress." says Jaden.
"No! Chthonian Empress, Phantom DeCharge!" says Chazz.
The ability of Chthonian Empress activated and reduce the damage to 0.
"Ha. Nice try, but not good enough." says Chazz.
"Okay." says Jaden.
"Get ready to lose, man. I play Holy Purity Star and bring back my Chthonian Emperor. Attack...Phantom Dark Fire!" says Chazz.
"Sorry. Ya set off my trap...Neo Gold Shield. It prevent damage from any Dark monsters for one entire turn." says Jaden.
"Interesting." mumbles Seto Kaiba who is not present in person, but watches the duel via direct online stream on a computer in his office.
Yugi Muto watches on his computer in his apartment.
"Very good duel." says Yugi, taking a sip of his hot black coffee.
Alexis is nervous that Jaden might lose the duel.
Syrus notice drops of sweat on Alexis' neck, understanding that she is nervous, but he says nothing about it.
"Jaden must win." thinks Alexis.
"I discard my entire hand and remove Chthonian Empress from play." says Jaden.
"Fuck!" says Chazz. "I play Supply Destruction. This spell-card force my opponent to send the top 3 cards from their deck straight to the Graveyard."
"My turn. I draw. Perfect. I play De-Fusion and split my monster into two again. Then I play Polymerization, fusing Sparkman with Elemental Hero Kusari in my hand, creating Elemental Hero Black Master." says Jaden.
"No..." says Chazz.
"Yes. Elemental Hero Black Master, destroy Chthonian Emperor." says Jaden.
Elemental Hero Black Master attacks and destroy Chthonian Emperor.
Chazz only has 520 life points left.
"It's not over yet, Jaden." says Chazz.
"No, but soon." says Jaden.
"Perhaps so, in my advantage." says Chazz.
"That I doubt." says Jaden.
"Why?" says Chazz.
"Simply 'cause I've this...the spell card Hero Duplication!" says Jaden.
"What does it do?" says Chazz.
"By discarding a high-level monster from my hand or deck straigh to the Graveyard I can create a perfect copy of one monster on the field for a single turn only if it is the same level as the monster I discarded. And since I decided to discard my Elemental Hero Berserker, a level 9 monster, I can duplicate Elemental Hero Black Master. Both versions of him counts as separate monsters so I get a second attack. Now my second Elemental Hero Black Master can do a direct attack." says Jaden.
"Dark Energy Reduction! This trap reduce the attack of a Dark monster to 0 this turn. Your mighty hero's power does nothing." says Chazz.
"Fine. I'll kick your ass next turn." says Jaden.
"Try. I set a monster in defense mode and play 3 cards face down." says Chazz.
"I summon my Elemental Hero Wildheart and play Fusion Gate to fuse him with Elemental Hero Clacier in my hand, creating Elemental Hero Wild Ice. Wild Ice, destroy Chazz's defense monster." says Jaden.
Elemental Hero Wilc Ice destroy the defense monster.
"And now...Elemental Hero Black Master, attack Chazz directly! Black Doom!" sasy Jaden.
Elemental Hero Black Master attack Chazz directly and Jaden win the duel.
"Alright, I give up. You're still the better duelist." says Chazz.
"Thanks, Chazz. It was a good duel. You're not too crappy." says Jaden.
"Okay." says Chazz.
