(5)-The Book Of Tommy.

Clare drove up to the Turbo residence. The former home of Tommy...and the home of his abusive drunk of a father...Scott Turbo. Scott's car wasn't on the property, meaning he wasn't home. This was good news for Clare, as she had feared he would be home and would make trouble for her by turning her into the police for kidnapping Tommy. But since he wasn't home at the moment, Clare decided to take advantage of the situation and go into the house to see if she could find any evidence of disappearances being Rapture-related. Sure, she didn't believe that this global vanishing act was God's doing, but she wasn't about to dismiss it without finding any hard evidence that it wasn't true. And what better place to search for answers than the home of the boy who believed in the Rapture event?

Clare got out of her car and went up to the front door of the house. And to her suprise, the door wasn't closed all the way. Scott was probably drunk when he was leaving the house...or so high on drugs that he forgot to close the door shut and lock it. An extremely dangerous thing to do, especially now of all times with all the crime that was going on in the world due to the disappearances. During her trip back to Chicago, Clare heard on the radio about countless home invasions and looters either stealing stuff out of people's homes or throwing wild parties in the homes of those who had been the people who vanished...or taking refuge in the former homes of the vanished.

Clare opened the door all the way, entered inside, closed and locked the door, and went upstairs to Tommy's bedroom where she began searching for any sign of evidence that what the kid said about the Rapture was true. She looked under the boy's bed, but found nothing, followed by pulling back his bed-covers, still finding nothing. The 35-year old woman then placed her hand under Tommy's pillow and got out a brown book. She opened it and saw writing on the first page that read The Book Of Tommy.

Clare turned the page and saw the table of contents Tommy had made.

Table Of Contents.

Chapter (1) Mom's Death.

Chapter (2) The Move To Chicago.

Chapter (3) Bullied.

Chapter (4) Nightmares.

Chapter (5) Dr. A.

Chapter (6) Bryson.

Chapter (7) Miss Clare.

Chapter (8) The Visions.

Chapter (9) Heaven's .

Clare then sat down on the bed, turned the page, and began silently reading the book, starting at Chapter (1): Mom's Death.

After reading the first four chapters, Clare had to stop. She couldn't believe all Tommy had endured as a child. Everything from his mother dying to his father becoming an abusive, neglectful drunk, to moving to Chicago to being bullied at his new school to being abused and neglected by his father and to having nightmares. It was more than any child should have to put up with. It wasn't fair. She knew that Tommy's father was a monster to him after his mother passed away, but these stories were horrifying. Clare felt like she had just finished reading half of a horror book. She was very angry and nerved up to the point that she didn't want to continue. But she knew she had to continue if she was going to have any luck in finding out what happened to Tommy and all those other millions of missing people around the world.

She turned the page to Chapter (5): Dr. A...and began silently reading it. As she did, she could hear Tommy's voice in her head, as if he was the one reading the chapter.

Chapter (5) Dr. A.

"Dear Journal,

at the age of 8, i've come to the conclusion that everyone in the world, including my own Dad, is against me. I have never been a bad kid, but my Dad sure treats me like one. For example, i use to need to be home at 5:00 PM everyday when i was 5. This clearly restricted my amount of play-time outdoors. I wasn't allowed to have friends over to play at the house...nor was i allowed to go over to anyone else's. I had to finish my homework directly after i came home from school, no matter how long it took.

My Dad refused to buy me video games and forced me to read books and then write a book-report on them to prove i actually read it. Now, even though those listed above were quite upseting to me as a 5-year old, they aren't what upset me the most. What really hurt me was the lack of compassiong or loving attention on behalf of my Dad after my Mom died.

My Dad has become a bitter drunk, who always makes me feel guilty of accidents or mistakes i make. And he only knows one emotion: Anger. The only time he speaks to me is when he screams at me for not having dinner ready for him when he gets home from drinking and partying, or beat me up for allowing the food to get cold. But...enough about him. Let's talk about my school counsalor. For her own privacy, i will call her Dr. A.

Like all schools, a counsalor is always avalible on campus during school hours to assist any kid in need of counsaling. Wheather it is emotional, academic, social, behavioral, ect. To be honest, i have never seen any kids talking with Dr. A. Everyday, i would walk past her office on my way to lunch and peak through her door's little window. She would always be alone in there, working on some paper-work. I guess most kids are too afraid to speak about their problems to an adult who was pratically a stranger. For this reason, it took me three weeks to gather enough courage to go into her office.

March 2nd was the day i decided to voice my troubles to Dr. A, as both my Dad's abuse and the nightmares have gotten too bad and scary for me to deal with. During lunch-break, i stood in front of her office door and knocked. Through the window, i could see her raise her head, smile, and motion for me to come in. I did. She greeted me by introducing herself and asked me for my name. Dr. A was a very soft spoken person who seemed to be very nice. In less than 30 minutes, i rambled to Dr. A about how mean my Dad was to me, and how he was a drunk and how he didn't care about me at all, as well as the nightmares i have been having and how they scared the living daylights out of me. After a while, my voice began to quiver...and i stopped speaking.

The doctor listened patiently to my whole spill, arms folded and head nodding. I half expected her to begin talking about how everything i had just said was untrue and that my Dad loves me very dearly and bla, bla, bla. But she didn't.

Dr. A leaned toward me with a grin on her face and said she was the best school counsalor in the world, and promised she would fix this.

I rolled my eyes and just agreed with her, followed by asking her how.

Dr. A simply stated she had her ways and that she was a woman of her word, promising that real soon things will change for me for the better...forever. And she made me promise not to tell anyone about our metting and that it would be our little secret.

I promised."

Clare then stopped reading the journal and thought about some of the stuff she had read that stood out to her. March 2nd was the day Clare had met Tommy when CPS assigned her to him after being contacted by a psychologist at the Chicago middle school of Lincon High.

Then a light-bolb went off in Clare's head. She would seek out the school psychologist that had contacted CPS about the situation with Tommy. She needed to find out more about these nightmares he had been having. Clare couldn't help but wonder if they were somehow related to his disappearance, as well as the disappearances of millions of other people around the world.

Tommy had told Clare that he had nightmares, but he hadn't told her what they were about. Maybe if she learned the truth behind nightmares, she would be able to find out what happened to Tommy and all the other millions of people that vanished. Maybe she could find out where they went.

Although Clare had already decided that aliens were responsible for the mass disappearances, she needed to find out where the aliens had taken the missing...and what they had planned to do with them. If they hadn't done anything to them already.

Deciding to take the journal with her, Clare closed the book, got up off the bed, put the covers back over it, walked down the stairs, and headed for the front door, only to stop in her tracks when she heard it being unlocked on the other side.

Knowing that it was Scott, Clare ran out of the living-room, through the kitchen, and exited the home through the back glass slide-door and closed it back. She walked to the front of the house, looked around the corner, and saw Scott's car parked beside her's, followed by seeing that Scott wasn't standing at the front door anymore, meaning he was inside the house. Clare then rushed to her car, got inside, started it up, backed up, and drove off, heading for Lincon High School to meet with the school psychologist.
