"And in other news, does the Silver Sentry have some new competition? Although first discovered by an online journalist, we have steadily been seeing more reports. Although not much is known, she has been dubbed "Redwing" by said journalist and as far as we've seen from comments the name is growing in popularity. Footage so far is blurry, but we hope to receive more information soon."

I banged my head against my desk repeatedly. I couldn't believe this. How had someone ever gotten a picture, let alone one that clear? I let out a frustrated groan.

"And I didn't even get to choose my own name," I muttered to myself.

A few days had passed since my latest adventure. My ankle was back in tip top shape and I was starting to feel antsy. How was it possible to feel claustrophobic just from being on the ground? That seemed close to how I was feeling, although it was more of a longing for the sky than a fear of the ground and its looming buildings that constantly surrounded me.

I thought of the costume I had hidden in the corner of my closet. Although I didn't think I was nevessarily cut out to be... whatever that journalist thought I was going to be, it was probably better to be in disguise.

Once Christina had gotten over her worry she had chided me for the damage I had done to my clothing. She mourned each and every tear, but still insisted on "creating something new and better."

While I would need to find something to fit my own preference at some point, it would do for now. I grabbed a small bag that would stay secure on my back. This time I would need a key to my apartment.

I didn't go further than the roof of my apartment. I wasn't too worried about being disturbed, I had climbed up higher than what was supposed to be accsessible. The small space was most likely just there for maintenance. It was a windy night and so cloudy I could barely see the sky at all. As I did the last time I was out here I sat on the edge and let my legs dangle out into open space. I felt so much calmer out here.

I squeaked and jerked to the side as I felt a tap on my shoulder. A large hand encircled my arm and pulled me safely away from the edge. I turned to look with wide eyes and found myself facing Michelangelo.

He let go of me as soon as I was pulled to safety. "Sorry, sorry!" His face lost a little of its light when he saw my shocked face. "Sorry," he said again with a chuckle that only sounded a tiny bit forced. "I'll leave you alone..."

I reached out to snag his wrist as he turned to leave. "No!" I said, the words coming out louder than I had intended. "Um, no. I'm actually glad to see you again." I hadn't been able to bring myself to email him again. I had tried to think of what to say only to keep deleting the words. It was stupid, but ever since I found out his identity I couldn't think of what to say without feeling like a fraud. It hadn't been my intention, but now that I knew it felt weird that he still didn't know who I was.

But maybe I should have stuck to digital communication because now that he was in front of me I had still no idea what to say. At that moment I remembered that I was still holding his hand. I dropped it and pulled my hands to my sides, smoothing out noexistant wrinkles in my clothing. I was more than happy when Michelangelo broke the silence.

His face had regained it's usual glow. "Never got your name last time," he said, hooking his thumbs through his belt. "Redwing, right?"

I barely succeeded in making a face at the name. Apparently it was getting around fast. I didn't really want some vague superhero alias to be that he knew about me. "Kind of," I mumbled. I scuffed my heels against the ground and took a long deep breath. "But actually...it's Mikayla."

I flicked my eyes up briefly to gauge his reaction. And then looked up fully. He looked confused. His eyes were squinted as he tried to figure out the relevance. I had to admit it was a little cute and I strategicaly placed my hand in front of my face to hide my small smile. It went a long way towards making me feel better.

I removed my mask and held it loosely in my hand as I smiled nervously. "Hi?"

Once Mikey had managed to speak he bombarded me with questions. I didn't have many answers, but I answered as best as I could. I found myself spilling all the information that I had only shared with Christina, my closest friend.

I didn't really know anything about my powers except for, "...super strength? Or something. Maybe?" And the oh so impressive ability of "jumping really far." No matter how much fun I had with that, there wasn't really a way to make it sound cool. And there wasn't much to say about my "backstory" so the conversation moved on quickly. I honestly didn't think my life was that interesting, but he still seemed intrigued. I was much more interested when he told me his own history.

"Three brothers, huh? That must make life interesting. I just have the one sister."

Mikey shrugged. "We get along pretty well. Leo's been a little crazy lately. The key is to stay out of the way when he and Ralph go at it."

Faint droplets on my arms distracted me from my response. I looked up to the sky to see that ominously dark clouds had crept up on us while we were talking. It lightly drizzled for about 30 seconds before breaking into a torrential downpour.

I wiped the water out of my eyes and scrambled down to the fire escape. "This way!" I called back. I glanced back to make sure he could follow and continued until I reached my apartment. I flicked off the water as best as I could before entering and then ran for some towels. When I returned to the room I saw that Mikey was still hovering out in the darkness outside of the apartment.

"Come in!" I encouraged, gesturing for him to enter. He still hesitated, but ventured in after a moment, looking around furtively before taking the towel that I offered. It took me a moment to realized why and I felt like an idiot that it took me that long. "My roommates aren't here. Kelsey is staying with her boyfriend and Anna is doing an overnight study session at a friend's."

I felt like he relaxed a bit at my words. I continued with wringing the water out of my hair. My clothes were hopelessly soaked, way beyond anything a towel could do for them. "Do you mind if I change into something dry?" I asked. "I'll be right back."

I sped to my room and changed quickly, only pausing when I caught my reflection in the mirror. I made a face and hoped my hair would behave itself while drying instead of expanding into a lion mane of frizz.

I stopped outside the living room. Mikey was finishing drying off as he looked around the room. It was a little surreal to see a mutant turtle standing in my apartment although it didn't actually feel strange for him to be here.

I frowned as I heard the sound of the rainfall increasing. I peeked out the window to check. If anything it was worse than it sounded. There was no way Mikey could go out in this! Hopefully it would at least lighten up, but for now it made more sense for him to stay.

"So, can I give you a tour?"

Chapter is up a little late tonight, but it's still Friday! :)

I forgot about this for a while, but I've imagined this version of New York as one that is a little superhero crazy. The general public is always interested and this is used to sell the news and drive viewership. Even though the newest "hero" may only be seen once, the first to get the information is the first to capitalize on it and the first to profit.

Thank you so much to rybkakoi and REDpanda! Your reviews filled me with happiness. :) I had finished this chapter when your reviews came in, but chapter 14 is definitely longer ;)

REDpanda-thank you for all of your comments and feedback. I was a little stuck and your review gave me both a push and the inspiration to get past where I was stuck. The rest of the turtles (or at least one) should be featuring more in he story pretty soon.
