The Hex Series Chapter Six
Locked in his padded cell somewhere in the California state prison system stood The Phantom or otherwise known as Daniel Prezette. "I did everything you said, and The Hex Girls still live!"
From inside his sleeve Daniel pulled out a hidden blade, "if you don't answer me right now, I swear I'll end it here and now." Daniel threated. The only thing that could be heard was Daniels heavy breathing, getting no response .Daniel clenched his teeth and put the blade ever so close to his throat and put pressure on the blade and ever so slightly a thin line of blood trailed across his throat.
Across the country gathered around a black cauldron, stood several members of a black order.
"Sister Agnes." One of them screeched, "our agent is getting ready to end his own life, shall we intervene?"
Sister Agnes opened her eyes and opened her mouth to speak. "Tell that idiot we still have use for him or rather I should say our mistress does."
"Our mistress Sarah calls from the black?" one of them asked.
Sister Agnes gave her a curt nod. "Mistress Sarah says to summon the rider.
Midway to cutting his throat open a voice spoke in Daniels head, "stop! We have further use for you.
Daniel immedialty dropped the bloody blade, tears of joy crawling down his face and that's when he was tackled by the correctional guards and then everything went black.
A day later.
The Hex bus gently rolled to a stop as it entered the driveway of their hotel and a pneumatic noise indicated the bus door was ready to be opened. Quinn grabbed his stuff and was the first person off the bus and onto the ground. Followed by Thorn Dusk and then Luna
Quinn's head looked up and down impressed by the sheer size of the mansion they would be staying at. "Tell me again why we're staying here in this drably little town instead of exciting New York City?" Quinn asked his older sister Thorn.
Thorn rolled her eyes before answering "because for the fourth time little brother, were only staying here for a couple of days because we wanted to see the town were the horseman is from." Quinn raised his eyebrow. "Horseman?"
Luna popped her neck. "ya'know the story of Sleepy Hollow? The Headless Horseman." Luna said that as if that explained everything.
"I still don't know what you're talking about." Quinn admitted.
"You should've really paid attention in Mrs. Millers third period history class, like we did, anyway the legend goes, that during the revolutionary war specifically the battle of White Plaines near here, that a Hessian horseman was killed by having a cannonball decapitate his head and shatter his body, the British hastily carried what was left of his body and buried it in the Sleepy Hollow cemetery, the story goes that when the rider rises he looks furiously for his head but when he can't find it he likes to take heads off little boys."
And that's when Dusk came up behind Quinn and grabbed him shouting "Boo!"
Quinn screamed.
Luna laughed, "that was for last week when you woke us up at six in the morning telling us we were going to be late for school."
Thorn put her hands on her hips and rolled her eyes, "can we go in? I need a shower and a nap."
Dusk stifled a giggle, "Sure." And Dusk picked up her stuff and followed Thorn into the mansion.
"Quinn." Luna began. "welcome to the Tarrytown House Estate"
Luna walked up to the reception desk and spoke to the man." Four to check in please."
The baldheaded man looked up from his paperwork and smiled recognition on his face. "hey, I know you, your Luna from The Hex Girls! I can't believe this I'm your biggest fan." The man's eyebrows furrowed into confusion. "But where are your sisters?"
Luna gave him a smile. "right behind me." Luna moved so the man could see her sisters.
The man stepped out of behind his desk, "I need to shake your hands." And that's what he did. The man shook Luna's hand first then Dusk's and Finally Thorn's. "Thorn? This place blows I'm not getting any wifi or any data connection." Quinn whined
"Quinn!" Thorn shouted her face red with embarrassment. The man smiled. "it's quite alright I have a daughter about his age."
"son, the wifi password is Hex Girls Rulez."
Dusk smirked, "wow you really are a fan."
The man nodded in agreement. "I have all your cds and I know all about you. As I said I'm your biggest fan."
Luna turned to Dusk, "what was that weird girls name? the one we met back in California?"
Dusk huffed. "her name was Candy. Candy said she was our biggest fan so you might have some competition there."
"hmm." The man said softly. "anyhow, my names Ryan and if you need anything don't be afraid to shout."
Ryan went back behind his desk and pulled out three keys and handed them to each member.
With the keys in hand, and their bags in another The Hex Girls made their way up the magnificent wooden staircase, Thorn made her way to her room with Quinn in tow and put her duffel bag on one of the queen sized beds and rummaged through it, finding what she sought Thorn made her way to the large bathroom, seconds later Quinn could hear the water running, Quinn laid down on the spare bed, hearing the relaxing sound of the water run, Quinn's eyes became heavy and soon he fell asleep.
The dream started out normal enough, Quinn running through the field, the sun warming his skin and sky so blue it hurt to look at, and birds were singing their songs. But then Quinn heard it. A horse whinnied. Quinn stopped running and looked over his shoulder, in the far distance Quinn could see a rider: a horseman.
"hiya!" the rider said, as it galloped towards Quinn, as the rider got closer Quinn could make some of his dress, an old timey uniform that was tattered and foreign, the rider carried a large shiny sword that shone in the midday sun, but Quinn realized in horror the horseman had no head.
Soon the Horseman caught up to Quinn, cutting off his escape. Quinn could feel the sharp blade under his chin as the rider forced his head up and made Quinn look at him, the rider had no way to speak but Quinn heard it all the same.
"We are coming for you" the rider said "All of you."
