Questions

Harrison Wells rolled into the room, assessing the situation.
"What happened?" He asked, perfectly calm.

"I don't know!" Cisco exclaimed, typing furiously at the keyboard in front of him, "I'm sure we got the levels right, but if we don't figure it out soon, the bank - "

"I didn't ask what you think happened, I asked what actually happened." Dr. Wells said emphatically, rolling over to Barry.

"We gave him some pure caffeine and he started reacting." Caitlin said, voice as calm as still water, but the crease between her brows revealed the truth.

"I assume you got the dosage right, so what factor did you miss?"

"We considered his fast metabolism and his-" She began, but he cut her off.

"I did not ask 'what didn't you miss', I asked 'what did you miss!" He took a breath, glaring at the two of them, "I did not hire idiots. Now, please answer the question Dr. Snow."

She stood silent a few seconds, considering then a look of nervousness passed over her face.

"We didn't consider if he already had some caffeine in his system. If he's already had a few cups of coffee today, it would add to the amount we gave him!"

"Good. A significant oversight, but a likely cause for the situation." Dr. Wells said, "Now we have to ask Mr. Allen how many cups he had."

But Barry had stumbled over to the monitors and had focussed on the robbery. "Ineedtogetoverthere." He mumbled and looked like he was going to take off then and there until Dr Wells intervened.

"Mr Allen, I wouldn't suggest running at all, much less at the speeds you were about to attempt."

Cisco, after biting into one end of the twizzler, said, "But wouldn't running cause him to work it off faster? Get the blood pumping it out of his system?"

"It may," Dr. Wells responded, never taking his eyes of Barry, "but it would likely induce a heart attack. His heart is already beating too fast. Physical exercise would only make it go faster."

"But those people!" Barry protested, hands still shaking as he reached for his suit, "Thereare probablyhostagessince thebankdoesn'tcloseuntil-" The words blurred together, coming out tumbling on top of one another, all vying for a chance to be heard.

"I'm afraid you may have to leave this one up to the police. You are in no fit state to be fighting metahumans." Wells stated apologetically.

"I just hacked into the CCTV and it looks like this guy can make huge shards of broken glass appear out of the ground. Can I call him Glassman? No, what about Shatterer?" As Cisco came up with possible names, Barry grabbed his suit and zipped out of S.T.A.R Labs. "…well that's not good." Cisco muttered before taking another bite of his twizzler.

Author's Note:

So, things start to go wrong and imposter-Wells shows up! I tried to get his brisk no-nonsense almost rough dialogue down, but you guys'll have to tell me whether he feels in character.

Next time on 'The Experiment', new villians! New tensions! Will Barry make it out alive?

...

just kidding, this is set in season 1 and this is not an AU :)

Have a great weekend!
