Summary: While visiting her old city, Anzu decides to take it upon herself to visit a certain someone.
A smile formed on Anzu's face as she observed the city she once called home. The laughter of children playing in the park and the distant chatter coming from nearby adults filled her ears as she peacefully sat on a local bench. The wind gently blew onto her as she sighed in enjoyment. It was a beautiful day indeed - but there was still one thing she needed to do.
Observing the freakishly large building that was slowly coming up her way, she couldn't help but to think that maybe she should just turn around. Instead, she brushed off that idea and figured since it took her one hell of a walk to get to her designated area, there was no going back now.
A furious, familiar looking white dragon stared her down as she was about to enter the building. Anzu couldn't help but to laugh a little.
"Only you, Seto Kaiba, would have a blue eyes statute outside your building," she thought to herself as she opened the doors.
The front lobby was packed -as usual- with top engineers and designers from all around the world wanting to show how they could help make Kaiba Corp even better. All leaving Anzu astonished with admiration for just how hard Kaiba still worked to keep his company number one even after all those years ago.
"I'd like to see Mr. Kaiba please," she said to the front receptionist. The receptionist nearly hesitated before granting Anzu his office location, she simply figured that maybe this one of those "secret girlfriends" from those silly tabloids published to the public to read.
The elevator doors shut and without thinking, Anzu laid slightly back onto one of the rails. She couldn't describe how she was feeling; was it nervousness or excitement? Either way, it was indescribable and maybe she liked that. Getting off the elevator and walking to her destination, her heart began to race. That's when she opened the door.
"Hi," her voice nearly echoed due to how large and spaced out his office was.
It was within seconds that a head popped out from behind the only computer in the room. Making his way up to the oddly familiar voice, Seto Kaiba was struck by the presence of Anzu. Not just by the fact that it had been so long since he laid eyes on her, but how much she changed since her dweeb squad days.
Her hair just a tad bit longer, her face more structured, and her figure a slightly bit taller. Needless to say her outfit complimented it all - the tight but flowy dress hugging her curves and showing off her very attractive figure. It was all expected but quite unexpected for the CEO to be laying his eyes on, especially during a typical work day.
"Mazaki?" He said in a surprised tone, now standing in front of her.
She nearly blushed at his now visible appearance. Although she had never admitted it to her friends, she was awfully fond of his good looks and now seeing that ten years later those feelings hadn't changed, she couldn't help but feel a bit embarrassed.
"Good to see you too, Kaiba," she sarcastically remarked. He shook his head, chestnut hair swaying as he did, all while trying to find the right words to say to not make this awkward.
He cleared his throat. "Thought you'd be in New York, no?" he questioned, hoping it was a polite thing to say.
"Well, I like to visit my friends once in a while," she answered, "but yes currently I still reside in New York. After all, I've started to teach there. It's a different life living there than it was being here, but I wouldn't change it for the world," she passionately said. It seemed to him that her positive self hadn't changed.
His eyes raised at her response. As a cocky, self centered teen, Seto always thought that her whole dancer career was nothing more than an unachievable dream, but now hearing that she had actually made it, he felt proud of her for her hard work and determination.
"I would ask about you, but I can see that from just being in your lobby that Kaiba Corp is still number one in the gaming industry," she smirked, walking a bit closer to him.
He chuckled, "glad to see you've noticed, Mazaki, but last I checked I don't think Kaiba Corp was hosting a dork fest reunion." She playfully rolled her eyes at him, running her fingers through her hair before speaking.
A big smile formed on her face. "I'll have you know that I've already visited the fellow "dorks."
"Oh so you saved the most interesting person for last I see," he raised a brow. "And obviously that person would be me."
"Maybe," she said, their eyes locking in place just as she did.
"How are those people, anyways," he asked, looking away to face the side of his office. She frowned a bit as she didn't face her.
"Oh, so suddenly you care," she teased. He couldn't help but admire her playful feistiness.
"I don't, but since you're here and it's been who knows how long since we've spoken, I figured it'd make quite the conversation," he replied.
Anzu sighed. "Really I thought you'd be asking more about me," she painfully admitted. Seto almost smiled at her confession, but caught himself before doing so.
"Tell me, Anzu, why would I do that?" She blushed at his words.
"I don't know, Seto," she laughed quietly. "However, what I do know is that it's almost past five, which means I guess I should get going."
He turned back to face her, this time walking up close to her to the point where they were practically centimetres apart. Anzu was quite flustered by the quick reaction of his movement.
"If you'd like to know more, I'll be at that fancy new restaurant at around seven," she spoke but a bit quieter now that they were so close. He was appalled that she had just basically asked him to dinner.
"I'd better get going," she broke the silence again, before walking towards the doors.
Just as she was about to open the door, it was his voice that stopped her.
"I'm a busy man, you know," he said in that charming tone.
"But you're also an old friend," she playfully smiled. "See you around, Seto," she said one last time before exiting the room, leaving it just to be one confused man standing in isolation yet again.
"An old friend?" He thought to himself. "She sure is just as crazy as she was before," he chuckled making his way back to his office chair, but maybe he was even more crazy for actually going to attend her offer.
