Brat opened up the bag pulling out one of her guns. She then got up picking up the bag and walked up to Link holding the bag out to him. "You're going to be carrying this with you. If they ask… just say its personal belongings. It has your clothes in it along with a couple of my things. The map device and a first aid kit are on top for Eznik."
Link nodded as he took the bag from her and swung it over his back. He suddenly winced as the redhead hugged him tight. He looked at her confused. He wasn't sure what was going on. "Give that to my dad for me." Brat said as she let go of Link, looking him directly in the eyes.
Link stared into her brown eyes; the hug and her request gave him a bad feeling. He had a feeling just like Navi did that Brat knew that she wasn't going to be coming back with them. She had more insight of what was going on than them and more of an idea as to what will happen to her and she wasn't letting them in on it. She just acted as if everything would play out fine.
Link smiled weakly at her. "I will..." he promised quietly. He'd rather just tell her to do it herself because she was going to be coming back with them. But the look in her eyes seemed to scream out that she wasn't going to be coming back. As if she deserved what she was going into.
Navi looked at Brat. She wanted to yell at the girl, but her eyes seemed to say her sad story, which made Navi more interested in finding out what Brat had done. Navi went to open her mouth to ask once again, but at that moment a voice came over the intercom.
"Hailing Ship, ID 38d729s, this is Police Station Yundra. What is your reason for being in this air space?" a stern male voice spoke up over the intercom. Link walked up to the control panel and then looked at Brat as she walked up next to him. "Hold this button down and give your ID number along with the fact that you have the outlaw Brat Conway."
Link nodded as he held down the button. "This is 43349275943, and I have with me the outlaw Brat Conway…" He then let go of the button. "Please…repeat…Please repeat your message." requested the male voice anxiously as it once more came across the intercom. Link once again repeated his ID number and his message. Then radio silence.
Brat pulled out her other gun; holding it to Link. "Safety is on." She showed him the side of the gun. "If you got to shoot, pull this back. Otherwise, leave it on as it will keep you from shooting me by accident. You're going to be holding this to my back. After they take me just put it in your pocket." He looked at the gun and put it in his side pocket. His eyes followed Brat as she walked over to the shackles.
Brat grabbed the small bracelet off of the ground as she quickly wrapped her tail around her waist. She used the bracelet to hold her tail in place to keep it from moving. She picked up the muzzle along with the shackles. She walked up next to Link and dropped them onto the chair next to him.
"What now?" Navi questioned Brat. She knew they were venturing into the unknown and she wanted to get as much information up front as possible. Brat looked at her. "They are running the ID through their database. After that, hopefully… they will be giving us permission to dock. That is if they fall for this ruse."
Brat leaned against the control panel waiting. The waiting was killing her; each second seemed like a kazillion years and it scooped out her insides leaving them lying exposed across the floor of the ship. She felt ignoble, vulnerable and defenseless and it made her a nervous wreck. She closed her eyes. She knew whether they fell for this or not; that she wasn't going to be getting out of this. She prayed the scuttlebutt about her was true. They always said she had the devil's luck and could get out of anything.
"43349275943, it is an honor to have you dropping in on us. You have permission to dock. A company of guards will be waiting to help you escort the prisoner." The voice finally spoke from the control panel.
Brat turned to the control panel; typing. "The ship is going to autodock for you. You need to remember you can't show any remorse, upset or disapproval for how they treat me. If you have to…be severe and hit me or something of the sort. And mean it. I can take it…I promise." Brat coached as she looked at Link. "Be tough! Be a Bully!"
Link and Navi both nodded. Brat pulled out a small black device. She held it out to Link. "If you trigger any alarms or need a big distraction, this is going to be it." She opened up a small lid showing a number pad. "Press 3434, it will cause this ship to explode. It should give you the distraction you need. Remember use this only in a dire emergency or if you are going to teleport, do it as well. I rather not have those bastards on my ship." she nattered anxiously as she handed it over to him.
Link stared at it for a second and then took it. "3434…" he repeated quietly to himself. He closed the small lid putting it into his other pocket. He turned his attention to Brat once again as she attached one of the shackles to her wrist. She then turned around in front of Link moving her hands behind herself. "Can you fasten this on my other wrist?"
"Yeah… sure." Link mumbled. He studied the shackle and snapped it onto her wrist. He then looked at the muzzle picking it up. "You want me to put this on you as well?" he asked her not sure how it worked. She nodded. "There's a clip you hook together in the back."
Link placed the muzzle over her mouth and hooked it up. "Is that ok?" he asked awkwardly. Brat nodded as she turned to look at Link. She studied the teen; she prayed he could handle himself. She knew that she could no longer help him passed this point. It was up to him and his little friend to keep themselves safe and to free her father.
The ship docked. The door began to open as the three headed towards the exit. Link pulled out the gun and held it to Brat's back like she had instructed as Navi fluttered beside them. Brat stumbled about. Link followed Brat's lead; actively shoving her forward as if indeed she was his prisoner. Link was impressed with how she was really throwing herself into her part which helped him play his part much more credibly.
Brat finding herself staggering; forgot how much she used her tail for balance but in the long run she realized it helped get Link into character which made this show appear more realistic for the guards that were waiting ahead. Brat took a deep breath as she surveyed the guards that were pointing and leering at her. This was it. It all came down to this, whether they pulled this off or not, she had forfeited her life. There was no getting out of this; she truly knew that. She noted that there were 10 guards waiting to help escort her. All this for one person she thought. They wanted her bad and weren't taking any chances.
Link studied the guards as they walked up on them; he wasn't sure what would be coming next. He hoped they were buying this for it was clear they were outnumbered. One of the guards stepped forward. The guard had his gun on Brat. It was clear that Link was not the enemy, so the plan looked like it was working.
"Sir, …uh madam." the guard muttered looking to Link and then Navi. "We will take the prisoner from here; our Commander would like to speak with you both." He moved his gun to Brat's head. "So you can put up your weapon, we've got it from here."
Another guard stepped up pointing his gun at Brat. Without any hesitation at all he pulled the trigger. The shot echoed across the docking bay; shocking everyone. "That's for my brother!" the guard brazenly shouted as Brat fell to her knees. He had shot her in the leg. He didn't have the guts to kill her, even as much as he wanted her dead. He already knew that he was going to be paying a hefty enough price for this offense.
Link eyes shot to the guard; ready to jump him, he reached over his back for his sword. He pulled it out targeting the guard who had just shot Brat. At that moment, the actuality of what was playing out brought him to his senses. He had to get a hold of himself; hold back his instincts and emotions. He was just caught so off guard. He couldn't believe that the guard had just shot Brat. His heart was racing; he looked at the guard who was still aiming his gun at Brat. What if the guard shoots again; this time to kill? What should he do? Brat had not covered this scenario in her directives still he knew he couldn't let that happen even if it blew their cover. So despite his many concerns he continued to hold his sword at the guard.
Brat stared at the ground; leaning her upper body on her wounded leg in hopes to stop the bleeding. She let out a small whine from under the muzzle. She closed her eyes to gather herself from the pain. She believed that she deserved this for what she had done to this man's brother although she didn't remember him personally. But she knew she was responsible. It was something that she could never take back; something she could never make right.
"If you shoot that girl again I promise you I will shoot you in the head before this elite cuts your head off." A woman hostilely shouted as she stormed up, calculatingly pointing her gun at the guard's head. She had long black hair with a pair of sunglasses on, even though they were inside. Every step she took the metal of her boots clanged..
Link stared at the woman trying to pull his senses together. He realized she had taken over the situation and holstered his weapon as he watched the woman grab the gun from the offender. "Get lost before I lose my restraint and end up shooting you." she scoffed at the guard. Her eyes tracked after the guard as he headed out of the docking bay. The woman then tossed his gun to one of the other guards.
"You peons will clean up this mess as each of you is responsible for each other's actions. You're lucky I'm not going to court-martial you all!" the woman spouted as she then turned looking at Brat on the ground. "So put up your weapons; she's bound and secured" she added as her attention went back to the guards. "If any of you sad bastards shoot this girl again I promise you I will give her a gun to shoot you back… or better yet I'll just shoot you, myself."
Link studied the woman; she seemed to be the one in charge. He was thankful that she had showed up keeping him from having to break cover. He glanced at Brat who seemed to be in a great deal of pain. He looked back at the woman not wanting to see Brat in agony. He wondered what would transpire from here. What direction was all this heading?
The woman turned to Link and Navi. "I'm Zinc, to keep it simple. Follow me." Walking passed the group of guards she abruptly stops; shouting… "Alright, you scum… if any of you let this bitch escape I promise you I will kill you PERSONALLY! If any of you shoot her again I will kill you PERSONALLY! Are we clear on these orders?" "YES, MA'AM!" the guards shouted back. She held up her hand and the guards quickly headed over to Brat, grabbing onto her then dragging her towards their destination.
Link and Navi were watching the guards trying to make sure they were treating Brat ok and to hopefully see where they would be taking her. Zinc snapped her fingers in Link's face to get his attention. "Don't worry, they may be idiots but they won't be letting her go or shooting her ahead of schedule since they know I have a tendency to shoot people who don't listen to me. So let's head inside." Zinc voiced as she headed to the large set of doors that led into the main area of the station.
When the group of three walked in a loud applause exploded across the room. People were applauding and cheering along with shouts of approval in all sorts of languages. The crowd was dressed in armor or else uniforms. They were all cheering in admiration of the teen and his faerie.
Link and Navi both stood in utter shock. This was the last thing they expected in this plan. They were being greeted like Heroes as if they had captured some wickedly evil villain and just saved them all. A mob of people rushed up shaking Link's hand, patting him on the back while expressing their gratitude and praise. Their thanks seemed to just be a blur as this didn't seem right or real as Link uncomfortably grinned and shook his head approvingly at the group of fans.
This was something he had always wanted through his lives; something he sometimes fantasized about; be recognized for what he had done; appreciated…but this was all wrong. He just turned over a friend; a good person and he's being treated like a hero. It had a sickening and distasteful feeling to it while at the same time it drudged up many disquieting questions about Eznik's daughter.
"Hey." Zinc once again snapped her finger in front of Link. "I'm sure you want to stay here and be swarmed by your adoring fans and bask in the limelight, but I'm on a timetable to get your ass to the people who are in charge of this hell hole. So let's keep moving. You can come back and enjoy the party later…after all, it's in your honor."
Link shook his head out of the shock of everything happening and followed Zinc out of the room. All that ran through his mind was the question… was he on the wrong side of all of this? What did Brat do that was so atrocious that the people who captured her would get a welcome like this? And he couldn't help but think back to the guard who shot her seemed to be screaming out for revenge.
Navi watched Zinc. She held her tongue for she knew that she couldn't ask what Brat did for then it would be obvious that they weren't who they claimed to be. She glanced at Link thinking he was probably thinking about the same thing.
Zinc looked back at the two to be sure they were keeping up as she headed into a room. "Zinc reporting as requested…with the Elite." she articulated while she looked back at Link and Navi as she mentioned them then peered once more at the two that she was addressing. "So may I leave? Unless you need me to shoot someone…that is?"
Link scrutinized the two sitting at the table. He frantically realized that he recognized one of them. The older man was with the guards who had taken Autum, and Eznik. His heart pounded as he feared that the man might in return recognize him. This could ruin everything! He swallowed uneasily as he tried to regain his composure.
Next to the man, he distinguished was a woman with purple scaly skin. She stood up; walking up towards the group. Link observed that this odd looking woman with purple scaly skin approaching them didn't have hair on top of her head. He also noticed that she walked with air of condescendence definitely defining a presumably high position. "Zum, inform Brat's father that we captured her… thanks to the elite that he so hates." she solicited. Zinc rolled her eyes at the sound of her real name as she scoffed. "Tsh!"
Link quickly addressed the odd purple woman. "If I may request… we would like to give her father the news ourselves." Navi who was now sitting on Link's shoulder looked at Link worried about the next turn this mission was taking as she got to her feet. She hoped they would buy Link's lie. "We would like to see the look of shock and terror on his face. You know the look that all hope is lost. And I would like for him to know that it was Lily and I that executed it."
The woman nodded. "Yes, of course...totally understandable. That will be fine." She looked over at Zinc addressing her further. "I don't want you drinking and celebrating with the rest of the group. You need to make sure that cat creature is put in a high security cell with guards outside round the clock. You are dismissed." "Of, course." Zinc answered as she went to leave. The Commander then turned her attention back to Link holding out her hand. "It is a great honor to have one of the prestigious elites here."
Link nervously took her hand, shaking it strongly; hoping she didn't think too much about his sweaty palm. He had to be careful; anything could be a-giveaway. He nodded a little, still not sure what the woman wanted. "I am Ailith. And over there…the one yet to speak is Commander Re-ju." she presented as she looked to the commander as he got up and walked towards the. Link kept his eyes on the man, he prayed that his cover wouldn't be blown.
Re-ju held out his hand to Link. "It's a great pleasure and honor to meet you, young man." he said as he smiled at Link, though he wasn't a bit impressed by these Elites. "It is nice to witness in person that the buzz about the great elites is most assuredly true. Just two days ago a traitor to the government was arrested and brought to justice thanks to the elite; undoubtedly your friends… and now you brought in one of the most wanted mass murderer's of our time, Brat Conway."
Link shook his hand trying to keep a stiff upper lip and a steady shake as his gut wretched as the man mentioned Autum and then Brat. "Raven's my name and this is my companion, Lily." the teen spoke boldly trying to stay in character. He didn't know what these two wanted with him and underneath it all, he was not convinced that this Commander Re-ju didn't recognize him.
Ailith smiled. "I believe most of the people here would like to thank you in person for what you have done. So once you're done giving Dr. Eznik the bad news, you should go ahead and head back to the party. You can enjoy yourself… and know you're welcomed to stay here as long as you like."
Re-ju studied the teen and his faerie; something seemed familiar about them. He couldn't put his finger on it like an odd déjà vu that seemed to have no reason nor rhyme. He shook the thought from his mind. "I'll escort you to the holding cells. That will keep people from bothering you." Re-ju said as he headed to the door. "Come on." He gestured with his hand as he headed out of the room. Still Re-ju felt something was up as this odd feeling kept gnawing at him like he should know these two.
Link nodded towards Ailith then followed after Re-ju. Link and Navi stayed quiet as they followed him. Luckily, it seemed that Re-ju took this silence as how the mysterious elites would be; adding to their mystique. The halls that they walked through were practically empty; everyone must have been at the party the two figured. After walking down a series of hallways they walked up to a door. Re-ju opened the door as he spoke "5th cell, I have some things I need to see to, so I can get to the partying. I'm sure you can find your way back to the main hall easily enough."
Navi and Link both nodded as Link flashed a small grin at the commander. Link walked into the lockdown section. He looked back as the door shut behind. He knew now started the race against the clock. Once they helped Eznik escape there was only so much time for them to get Autum's body and meet up with Brat.
Eznik was on the ground leaning back against his cell; his eyes closed. He heard the door open down the hall. He guessed that they were going to ask one last time about him giving up the information. He listened to the footsteps getting closer. He let out a small groan as he heard the footsteps stop in front of his cell.
"Eznik!" Navi shouted as she flew into his cell. Eznik's eyes shot open as he heard the familiar voice to find the faerie right in front of his face. "Navi?" he spouted in surprise as he looked at her smiling. He then looked to the teen standing right outside his cell. "By the Goddess, how did you two get here?" he questioned them. He slowly started to get to his feet. He let out a moan as he held his leg.
Navi flew up next to his leg. "Your daughter helped us. Did they do this to you?!" she asked worried about him. "Are you going to be ok?" She watched Eznik as he nodded.
Eznik looked at Navi as he bit his lip. He highly doubted it was Gotenoo. So that meant Brat turned herself in; that was the last thing he wanted but the only thing that made sense. That's why he had endured all this torture so to keep her safe and now it had all been in vain. His heart sank that she was now going to be just an experiment of the government. He used the wall to help him get to his feet. "Did she give you a hacking device?" he inquired.
Link shook his head as he studied the cell. He noticed the control panel. He ran up to it. He pushed in the series of numbers that Brat had given him. The door slid open and he ran into the cell to assist Eznik.
"I guess she prepared you for everything." Eznik chuckled weakly. He leaned up against the wall. He watched Link pull out a small white case. "I believe this is a medical kit. She said you would need it." Link said as he held it out to Eznik.
Eznik allowed Link to hold the case as he opened it up. "You know, they probably are sending guards right now." he warned the both of them as he pulled out a medical gun. He then quickly rummaged through the small vials in the case. He pulled out one and hooked it up to the gun. He then shot it into his leg; letting out a small groan in the process.
"What!?" Navi spat out. "But how!? We were left here alone." Navi looked around confused. "We tricked them right, Link? They bought our ruse, didn't they?" She looked at Link for verification but he seemed just as confused.
Eznik closed the small case. He pointed up at the ceiling as he explained "They have these things called video cameras... Basically, the walls have eyes and it's tattling on us right now as we speak." Eznik started to make his way to the exit. He knew the medicine would take the pain away long enough for them to get out of there.
Link pulled the gun out of his pocket holding it out to Eznik; stopping him. "Brat wants us to get Autum's body out of the morgue." he stated as he looked at Eznik rather seriously as he realized now time was really against them.
Eznik glanced at Link as he took the gun from the teen. It seemed they knew of what happened to Autum. Brat must have done some pretty heavy hacking. He took the safety off the gun as he watched Link pull out a small device. Link held it out to Eznik as he positioned the bag on his back once again.
"Brat said this was a map of the place. It should have on here the location of Autum's body." Link stated as Eznik took the device. "Brat also said that she is going to try to meet us at the lock-up." Link said half-heartedly as he looked to the ground. His eyes said what he wouldn't let himself say.
Eznik put the gun in his pocket. He then put his hand on Link's head. "Don't even go there. You can't blame yourself for what she got herself into." he uttered as he smiled gently at the teen trying to help him through this. He sympathized with Link understanding that he being in a whole other dimension, dealing with technology, laws and regulations that he doesn't even have a clue about must be totally overwhelmed. How brave and good-hearted this young teen was he thought as he looked over the device, fiddling with it.
"It looks like we don't have far to travel." Eznik declared as he limped out of the cell. He knew that he didn't have time to tend to his wounds or worry about the pain. He glanced at Navi who flew up to his shoulder, sitting on it.
"What did she do?" Navi asked him. She couldn't take it anymore. "I know this isn't the best time, but we were greeted like heroes for turning her in. They called her a mass murderer. That can't be true!" Navi pleaded for an answer.
Eznik looked at her as he put the device in his pocket. He then pulled out the gun. "Unfortunately Navi, it is true. She killed a lot of innocent people; fathers, mothers and children. And she killed them all without mercy." he recited disparagingly as he then snuck a quick look at Link looking for his reaction. He then looked over the cellblock. There was no sign of any guards anywhere, which he knew in this case was a bad sign.
Navi sat silent on his shoulder. She was shocked; his daughter didn't seem like a person who was even capable of killing one person let alone a lot of people without mercy. Navi looked back at Link who looked away from her. It seemed he didn't want to believe Eznik's words either though they fit the scenario of what all they witnessed.
"Come on" Eznik stressed as he started to unsteadily jog down the hall. He had an unsettling feeling that they were going to be walking into a trap just ahead since this place was wired up so efficiently. And they, undoubtedly were adding more security to Brat at that moment; which meant the odds of her escaping out of her holding cell were even less than before and he knew the odds pretty much stunk from the start. But he knew this was their last chance they had to make the best of it.
Link followed after Eznik. He kept his guard up not sure of what would happen next. His heart was racing; something about all of this didn't sit well with him. This seemed way too easy, especially considering how Brat made it sound like they'd be fighting a life and death scenario if their cover was blown and Eznik claims their cover is blown.
Eznik dialed a few numbers on the control panel to the morgue door. He walked in. Once Link walked in he closed the door, locking it. Shivers went down all of their spines from the temperature change. Eznik pulled out the device looking at it.
Navi shivered as she sat on Eznik's shoulder. "W-Why is it so cold in here?" she asked Eznik rubbing her arms trying to keep herself warm. She looked around the room. There were a couple of shelves with strange tools on them. There were lots of circular metal doors that covered one of the walls. She jumped off of Eznik's shoulder as he walked up next the wall with the doors.
"It prevents the bodies from decomposing so quickly and keeps the smell under control." Eznik spoke matter-of-factly as he started to walk down the row of doors. He was looking at the ID numbers on the doors. He paused at one of the doors. His hearts racing, he didn't know if he could take this; seeing his sister dead. Then he truly had to accept that she wasn't coming back.
Link looked at Navi as she sat on his shoulder. He walked up slowly next to Eznik. He didn't have words for the doctor. He was still trying to prepare himself for this. He watched Eznik punch a few buttons on the panel.
Eznik grabbed the handle on the door; pulling. A mist came out along with a table that was automatically released with the opening of the door. Navi let out a small cry, looking away. Link looked towards the wall; his heart was pounding in sadness and remorse. It was the last thing he expected. His heart cried out as the memory of the gunshots firing replayed once more through him.
Eznik looked at the body that was on the pull out table. It was Celtic's. His body looked like it had just been shot up that day. They hadn't even removed the bullets out of the body. It seemed they didn't even bother with the body at all. Eznik's heart started to race, some realizing this was a surprisingly good turn of events. His sister wasn't in the registered morgue compartment, which meant that she could still be alive. He realized that it could also be that they transferred her body already, but he doubted that because it would only make sense that they would have sent Celtic's body as well.
"Link, get out the medical case." Eznik requested as he walked over to one of the small tables with vials on it. He pulled the table over to Celtic's body. He swiftly scanned through the vials on it. He snatched up one of the vials. Now he needed to test something Celtic had told him, something that he just had never really believed it.
Link looked at Eznik confused. What was he planning on doing to Celtic's body? He didn't even want to think of Eznik cutting into the body. What would be the point anyway? He shook his head at the thought. He took off the bag and pulled out the medical case. He handed it to Eznik. His eyes trailed to the corpse; his heart cringed seeing Celtic that way.
"What are you going to do?" Navi quizzed Eznik. "I don't mean to sound insensitive but…isn't it going to be hard enough carrying one body out of here…let alone two especially with the police on our tails and you injured?" She didn't want to really know what he was about to do. The truth was she just wanted him to hurry up so they could get out of that creepy cold place.
She looked at Celtic's dead body. She felt bad that she had said some crude things to him before. She hadn't really cared for him but she sure didn't want this to happen to him and she felt bad now wishing to leave him behind. She looked away. It made her a bit sick seeing him dead.
Eznik grabbed the case, setting it on Celtic's body avoiding Navi's grilling. He pulled out a vial out of the case. He mixed the two vials together, and then loaded it into the medical gun. He closed the case moving it off of Celtic. He then shot the medical gun into Celtic's side.
Eznik held out the case to Link. Once Link took it he checked for a pulse. He then slapped the lifeless body several times across the face. "Dammit, Celtic! We don't have time for this!" he snapped angrily at the body as he smacked the face of the corpse again. Link and Navi gasped in horror. Eznik had lost it! They watched as Eznik grabbed another vial off of a table nearby. He loaded it into the medical gun.
Link and Navi looked at each other. It seemed that Eznik really had lost it. "Eznik… he's gone…" Navi spoke up quietly. "I'm sorry… but we don't have time, we need to find Autum's body." She felt bad as she spoke, but it was the truth their time was running out.
Link watched as Eznik shot the lifeless body with the medical gun again. "Eznik…" he softly addressed. "He's dead. I'm sorry. But we need to get out of here. We need to stay on task." Eznik seemed to be ignoring his pleas as he continued looking through the vials of medicines so Link grabbed Eznik's hand that was holding the medical gun finding him suddenly receiving Eznik's undivided attention. "I'm sorry but he is gone. I witnessed it go down several days ago. There is nothing you can do for him now. If we're taking him with us… fine! But we need to find Autum's body and go meet up with Brat. No more of this other stuff. We're seriously running short of time."
Eznik looked at Link. The teen didn't know that they were already out of time. They had walked straight into a trap; he was pursuing their last resort. This had to work, his eyes went to Celtic. "We're already ran out of time." he rattled off in all seriousness.
Link stared at Eznik. They were out of time, but how? They made a clean getaway. No guards around as they escaped Eznik's cell and they ran into nobody on the way to the morgue. How could they be out of time? "What… do you mean exactly?" Link drilled Eznik as he watched him grab another vial.
"There are probably 20 or so guards outside of the door by now. You see, they heard our whole chat in the cell, haven't you ever heard that walls have ears?…Well, here it is more than true; technology-wise. They knew that we were coming here, that's why we met no resistance on our way for this room has only one exit; much easier to trap us." Eznik nodded to the door. "Which makes it strategically impossible for us to leave out that door, yet it's the only way out. So at this moment we are trapped."
Link looked down. All of his hope shattered. This was it? Nothing else they could do. Was this really how it was going to end… all of them captured; nobody rescued? Still that was no reason for Eznik to torture a dead man. Maybe, they shouldn't listen to him at all; walls having ears and ceilings having eyes…and him giving medical treatment while abusing an obviously dead man. It seems Eznik must have snapped under the torture and pressure interrogation.
Just then Navi let out a scream. Her heart was racing. "This isn't possible!" She screamed out as she hid behind Link's neck. Link shot a look at Celtic; his heart stopped. It didn't make sense… How is it that Celtic is sitting up!? Link stared at Celtic shocked and confused, it was without question that he was dead just a moment ago. He looked at Eznik who was grinning. Did Eznik know some kind of resurrecting medical cure?
Celtic sat holding his head. "Even the dead can get no rest around you, huh Doc?" he feebly chuckled. He was in a lot of pain; his body didn't have time to recover completely from its wounds. Celtic held his throbbing chest as he looked at the group hovered around him.
Eznik let out a sigh of relief as he commented "You had me worried, Celtic. I hoped but still I found it hard to believe." He smiled at the once dead devil. He looked over at the vials on the table. He grabbed one of the vials hooking it into the medical gun. He shot it into Celtic's side. "I am sorry but that is the best I can do for the pain."
Celtic looked at Navi and Link. He remembered clearly the two non mergers; besides there was no way that he could forget that annoying faerie. He winced in pain as he moved to get off of the table. "I told you I can't die, Eznik. All this just hurts like a bitch, that's all ..though sometimes I wish I could die rather than enduring lethal pain."
Link watched as Celtic slowly got off the cold metal table. He stumbled some trying to get his balance. "What do you mean you can't die?" Navi spoke up staring at the bullet wounds in Celtic's chest. She still couldn't believe he was alive. She thought more like the living dead as it was obvious that he was DEAD just moments ago! And with those wounds there is just no way…
"Just as it sounds, I can't die. I'm a true immortal. Not one of those whose life is ungodly long. I'm one you stab me in the heart. I'm still going to live, but unfortunately in a shit load of pain." Celtic bellowed as he started to check his pockets. "Damn morgue people stole my cigs; stealing from the dead… what's with that?" he spat as he ran his hand through his bangs. He could really use a cigarette at the moment to get his mind off the pain.
"Celtic, we don't have much time. If they wanted to hide someone so they could claim that they were dead, where would they put them?" Eznik asked. He prayed it wasn't high security, because there wouldn't be any way for them to get there.
Celtic looked over at Eznik as he walked over to one of the small medical tables. Celtic started to browse over the vials as he answered…"I-So chambers would be my guess, only a small amount of specified people have the clearance to go in there. Why? …Damn, I thought my pack of cigs might have been over here!" Celtic glanced at the group as he snatched up one of the vials. He then walked up to Eznik and held out the vial.
Eznik took the vial from Celtic loading it into the gun. "Only reason we found you is because that morgue ID was said to be Autum's." he stated as he shot the medical gun once more into Celtic's side.
Celtic let out a grunt. He stared at Eznik intensely for a moment and then looked away. Celtic's guess was that the interrogators couldn't get any information out of Autum or Eznik, so they went as low as lies and deception. "The I-So chambers aren't far from here. We could get there quickly and easily."
Eznik put the medical gun into his pocket… responding… "Easily?... Problem is… the many guards that are lining up outside the door as we speak. Unless… you wouldn't mind getting shot back up again." Eznik articulated as he looked at Celtic knowing what he was asking of him but also knowing it was the only thing that might give them a chance.
Link and Navi just stared at Celtic. This guy couldn't die? And by the way they were talking Autum may still be alive!? "Does that mean Autum is alive?" Link spoke up, praying from the depths of his heart it be so. He looked at Eznik who nodded a little. Link sighed in relief.
"Only the gods know what condition she's going to be in when we get to her. She might be better off dead." Celtic replied grimly as he walked up slowly to the door. He was once again going to be target practice for the police but this time he couldn't fake his death in his hibernating deep freeze. He would have to keep going through all of the pain on top of the pain he was already enduring. Now he was going to be testing his true endurance and strength. He hoped he was up to the task.
Navi watched Celtic and Eznik when suddenly she remembered. "Wait!" Navi shouted. "Brat gave Link a device that would blow up her ship as a distraction." Eznik looked at Navi as he stated "That might give Celtic here a little more of an edge; catching them off guard a little is better than just getting shot up as he pummels the guards."
Eznik walked up to Link holding out his hand. Link pulled out the device. "3434." he recited. Eznik smiled as he nodded at the teen, confirming the detonation code. Link nodded at Eznik letting him know that he was with them all the way as he then followed him towards the door. Link looked Celtic over; it still seemed so surreal that he was alive and even more unreal what he was about to endeavor yet again. "Way to be alive!" Link lightly ribbed.
Celtic laughed softly at his tease but then leaned against the wall trying to regain his self-control. He was in too much pain for humor, that small laugh was quite painful. The pain medication wasn't close to being strong enough to even to start drowning out the pain that was coursing through his body. "I'll knock on the door 3 times to let you know the path is clear. Take a right, follow that hallway and look for the I-SO C32 rooms. Use my id code 203orme, it should give you the clearance to open the door. I'm sure they didn't bother to change it since they considered me dead. Oh and I doubt I'm going to be in shape for any running, so the faster you get in and find her the better. Ready?" he asked as he looked at them all.
Eznik nodded as he opened up the lid to the device. He pushed in the numbers. "Go!" he broadcast as he pushed the entry key. The room shook a little, as the ship exploded in the docking bay. Celtic darted out of the room shutting the door behind him.
