Two months had gone by and Wesley was in Riker's office right now.
It hadn't gotten any better, it had gotten worse. Wesley would be exhausted, cutting himself more often but deeper and have even more trouble focusing. He lost consciousness yesterday afternoon causing him to miss both shifts.
Riker thought he was just fast asleep so he let him slide knowing he had been having trouble sleeping. He woke up dizzy from losing so much blood ten minutes before his bridge shift.
Riker had talked to Picard about this to keep him posted on how Wesley's been doing and Picard had been keeping Beverly posted. Even though he's Captain now Picard was still his mentor and ask him for advice sometimes. Picard would gladly help him when he needed it.
"You know Wesley, if it makes you feel uncomfortable to be on Titan and remember what happened we can talk to the Admiral and try to put you on a different ship. Maybe put you back on the Enterprise." Riker said.
"I, I don't know Captain. I want to stay but at the same time it's making me see what happened. I have nightmares every time I'm sleeping after my shift."
"I've heard from others about that. People see you have trouble focusing sometimes too. And when you're at the bridge you can have trouble focusing to. That's why I wanted you to be on the bridge when you're not on duty around noon. So you can get some rest in the morning after your shift and then keep yourself busy during the day."
Wesley sighed.
"I don't know what to do sir. Part of me is willing to go back to the Enterprise and the other part of me is willing to stay here."
"Let's give you another week here and see what happens unless you want to leave before then. If you still have trouble sleeping and focusing or decide you can't take it we'll talk to Captain and Admiral."
Wesley nodded.
"Dismissed."
Then Wesley got up and headed to his quarters.
When he got there he sat down and looked at a picture of him and Josh. Then he took a shaky breath and put it down.
He sat there with his hands on his face and felt tears coming down.
'I don't know what to do Josh, dad. This ship is making me see what happened with it a few years ago. I still cry every night, day or both and I don't think anyone will take your place.'
Then he took his face out of his hands. They were both wet now.
Then he remembered what he did with the Indians a few years ago so he did it again and heard something.
"Wesley?"
He looked at what he saw and saw Josh and Jack.
"Josh? Dad?"
"Wes, I know you lost me and I don't blame you at all. That was Nick's idea. But you need to move on and find someone else." Josh said. "I'll always be with you."
Wesley looked at him.
"I know you will, but I don't think anyone can take your place. I looked at people and only liked them as friends. I'll never replace you."
Then Josh walked over to him and gave him a hug and kiss.
"Yes you will."
Then he looked at Jack.
"Dad?"
"Wes. I can see you've learned many things and decided to go back." Jack said.
"Yes."
"I'm proud of you for learning so much and want you to know that Josh is right. You have other people. Look at your mother, she got over my death. So try and find someone else. If you need to go back to the Enterprise then Jean-Luc will gladly take you back in."
Wesley nodded his eyes watering a little.
"You can do this whenever you want or need to and know that I'll always be there and love you." Josh said.
Wesley nodded, gave him one more hug and kiss then was gone.
When he looked up he sighed.
"I can't do it. I have to go on a different ship." he said.
So he got up and headed to Riker's office.
When he got there he hit the chime.
"Come in."
So he opened the door and Riker looked at him and saw the look in his face saying he needs a different ship.
"I can't do it anymore sir. I just talked to dad and J-Josh and dad said that if it makes me feel uncomfortable to be here then go back to the Enterprise and Captain Picard will gladly take me in."
Riker smiled knowing he was right.
"Alright, let's give admiral a call and then Picard."
Wesley smiled and Riker called the admiral.
"Captain Riker? What do you need?" the admiral said.
"Lieutenant Crusher is having trouble focusing while he's on the Titan, the ship that it happened at a few years ago and we were wondering if we could call Jean-Luc and ask him if Lieutenant Crusher could come back."
"Oh, that was the ship that that happened at?" Admiral said.
"Yes."
"I'm sorry Lieutenant Crusher, I thought it was a different ship. Yes, you're welcome to go back to the Enterprise if Jean-Luc welcomes you back."
"Thank you sir." Wesley said.
So they hung up and Riker called Picard.
"Captain Picard." Riker said.
"Captain Riker, Lieutenant Crusher?" Picard said then saw Wesley's face knowing what he wanted to talk about.
"Hello sir." Wesley said.
"What can I do for you two, or are you just checking in with me?"
"I was wondering if you were up for taking Wesley back to the Enterprise? He keeps seeing what happened a few years ago and has trouble focusing." Riker said. "I just talked to admiral and he said he could go back to the Enterprise if it's alright with you."
"Of course he can come back. He can either be Lieutenant or ensign Crusher."
"Thank you sir." Wesley said.
"Alright, why don't you go pack up and then I'll have you go to the Enterprise?" Riker said.
"Yes sir."
Then he left to get packed.
"He has cried every night and been exhausted. I would have him on his night shift and then let him get some rest after that. Then in the afternoon I would have him come to the bridge and have him be there so we can look after him. We're both getting worried that he's going to try to commit suicide. That's why I told him to do it." Riker explained when the door was shut.
"That's a good idea. I'll keep an eye on him when he gets here." Picard said.
Riker nodded and told him what had happened for the week.
Two hours later Wesley was about to be back on the Enterprise and saying goodbye to everyone.
"I'm sorry sir." he said after getting a hand shake.
"It's alright Wesley. I understand what happened." Riker said smiling.
Then Wesley went into place and waited.
"Engage." Riker said.
Then Wesley was gone.
"I'm going to miss him." Deanna said.
"I will to. But we both know that it would be better if he was somewhere else. He was pretty much raised on the Enterprise so I thought it would be better if he stayed there." Riker said with her in his arms.
