Chapter 30: Limits

Rin let out a small whine as she opened her eyes. She was on her stomach, she tried to move her arms but was unable to. She was strapped to a table, she could hear the chatter of the nearby scientist. Gritting her teeth she pulled hard trying to get free, but no luck.

A sharp pain pulled from her back. She let out a shrill from the pain, they had ripped out one of her precious wings, leaving the small demon with the two left. Closing her yellow eyes she cried some. She pulled at her restraints, trying to get free.

Autum sat in her cell. She looked towards the door where she heard the scream. Closing her eyes in disgrace; this was her fault. She brought these children into this death trap. No, it was worse than a death trap, they were all going to be experiments, fresh bloody meat for whatever they needed them for.

She heard a slam in the cell next to her. Autum looked to the wall where it came from. She could hear the young red hair yelling in his cell. She looked up to the ceiling, thinking about what Jewel had said to her. She could protect the teen from all of this. It made her sick that part of her wish she had done it.

Sakki slammed into the door. "STOP!" He screamed out. He could hear Rin's cries and he wanted to help her. He slid down the door as he let out a small cry of defeat. He closed his eyes. "Rin…" He whimpered, he was useless.

Sakki looked up to the small window in the door as another scream came from his friend. He covered his ears, not wanting to hear it anymore, not able to bear it.

Autum looked to her door as it opened. Her eyes looked at the two guards to come for her. No rest it seemed for her. She closed her eyes, her leg was in a brace. They walked in grabbing her, pulling her to her feet. She gritted her teeth from the pain of being up on her leg.

As she was dragged through the lab she looked to the small demon who was on a table. The poor girl had all of her wings ripped from her back. Autum looked away, closing her eyes as she was dragged away.

Autum winced as she heard another door unlock. She looked up to see them pulling Sakki out of the room. He was trying to fight, but they had just tranquilized the boy. She bit her lip knowing that would be her fate if she faught.

Celtic laid on the ground of the lab he was in. He had a water bottle next to him. He was waiting for the next task that they would make him do. Looking to the door as Bella walked in. She let out a small yawn as she sat down at her desk. Her eyes trailed to Celtic.

Both of their attention went to the door as Autum was dragged in. "Just set her on the ground next to him." Bella spoke up as she started to shuffle through her drawers looking for something.

Autum hit the ground next to Celtic. She closed her eyes and gritted her teeth from the pain. She rolled over on her side facing away from him. She would rather not look at the bastard. She still had such mixed emotions about him.

Celtic sat up slowly looking at her. Her arms shackled behind her. He could easily break them, but he'd rather not risk her getting the backlash from it. He already had one friend suffering from backlash from helping him. "Autum…" he whispered quietly knowing she could hear him.

No reply, Celtic let out a small sigh. He looked up at Bella who walked up to them dragging her chair behind her. She sat down looking at the two. "Celtic, if you would." She tossed him a small key, he looked at her confused. Was this a test?

"Go on. If she does anything I'm sure you can restrain her." Bella spoke as she watched him unshackle her. It was clear that Autum was not on speaking terms with Celtic. She had good reason though the scientist surmised. He was not shackled and just doing what was told.

Bella winced as Autum first reaction getting free was slugging Celtic in the face. "Bastard!" Autum snapped. She tried to get to her feet, she gritted her teeth as she grabbed her broken leg.

"I would sit, they only put your leg in a splint my dear not a lot of protection. Seems they rather not have you causing too many problems since you were in the Elites. No doubt they're a little afraid of you." Bella explained to Autum. She watched Autum get her feet. It was clear she was a fighter and quite stubborn.

"Sabaku." Autum gritted her teeth as her blade appeared in her hands. She moved the blade at the woman, who didn't even flinch. "Do you really want to go down this path?" Bella spoke calm and composed looking at her. "If you killed me, do you think there would be no consequences for such? What I am really asking is do you think you're here all by yourself and what you do effects no-one else? Do you not think your brother will not be punished or any of the others friends here.. for what you do? I'm sure they will make you watch their death or their torture whichever they see fit so that you do understand that your actions have consequences and those consequences fall on others. Here I am just trying to offer you a little bit of freedom."

Autum closed her eyes as she moved her blade down using it as a crutch. She hated this, she was nothing more than a lab rat who couldn't do anything. She had to make sure her anger didn't get anyone killed now. She winced as she felt Celtic grab her arm. She glared at him.

"Please, you can be pissed at me all you want. I don't care, but please sit, let your leg rest some." Celtic spoke up looking into her webbed eyes. He could see the hopelessness. It scared him, he never saw her like this. She usually had fight in her sparked with anger.

Once she let go of the blade it seemed to vanish into thin air. He slowly helped her to sit on the ground. He walked over and grabbed his water and held it to her. "Drink, I doubt you're going to get much any other way."

Autum looked to the door ignoring him. "I wouldn't blame him for being a loyal 'dog' as some put it. He is protecting someone by doing what he is told. He understands consequences. And furthermore, there are more of you now that can be used against him, and frankly the main one they plan on using is you." Bella informed Autum.

"Just do whatever experiment you want on me so I can go back to my cell." Autum spat coldly as her eyes locked onto Bella. She rather not play games with this woman. What's more it didn't matter Celtic should of got a backbone at some point during his incarceration..

Celtic set the water down. He looked at Bella who had pulled out a medical gun. She tapped it on her hand debating how she wanted this administered. She held it out. "Celtic, shoot this in her temple."

Celtic stared at Bella. "N-no." He managed to speak up. He looked to Autum who looked at him. "Just do it.. so I can leave." she snapped at him. Celtic looked away from her. He slowly got up and took the medical gun from Bella.

Celtic looked at it. He knew what this crap was something he could hardly endure. He looked down at Autum, she already was in enough pain. His heart said no, he wouldn't hurt her. He just refused. Celtic chuckled as he bent down next to Autum. He knew what it was, he didn't want to watch her writhe in pain. "I am an idiot." he said softly to her.

Autum looked at him and cringed as he shot himself in the temple. He crouched over and let out a scream from the pain. Her hearts raced as she moved over to him. She grabbed the medical gun looking at the vail. "What the hell was in that!?" she snapped looking at the woman

Bella had a grin on her face, it seemed there was a person he would bend the rules for, someone he would risk all for. That's what this test was all about. She glanced at Autum. "He knows what it is, he'll live. In a hell of alot of pain, but he'll live. But look what you made my loyal dog do, break his rules. There will be consequences. Lucky for you there is someone else who will pay his consequences. It had to be hard for him to choose one over the other. But nice to know he can make such a decision." Bella spoke as she got to her feet. Glancing back at Autum who clearly had her eyes locked on Celtic.

"Celtic?" Autum spoke up quietly when he stopped screaming. He was an idiot. He should've just shot her with it. She could of dealt with the pain.

"You know what Orme, I think I'll let her pay for your consequences after all. Punch her in the face." Bella spoke up watching the two. Autum looked up at Bella confused. She let out a small cry out of shock as Celtic punched her in the face. Holding her cheek. It felt like it was broken he hit her so hard. She looked at Celtic, his eyes cried out to her in his misery. She slowly backed up on the ground. She couldn't even get up on her feet at this point.

"What the hell did you do to him!?" Autum snapped.

Bella watched very happy. It was clear that this formula was more powerful. "Orme,, I want you to grab her broken leg and twist it." She watched Celtic went to his feet and moved towards Autum with no restraint.

Autum grabbed the nearest thing. She grabbed the water bottle looking at it. Not a sufficient weapon at all. Dropping it, she backed up some while trying to get to her feet. "SABAKU!" She snapped as her blade appeared in her hand. She pointed it at him, she hated this feeling unable to protect herself, not truly wanting to hurt him.

Celtic grabbed the blade with his left hand and shoving it back at her. Autum gasp as much as she tried to put up a fight against him it didn't even seem to budge his way. The blade sunk into his hand as he pushed it back at her. He put his foot on her good leg. Autum gritted her teeth as she looked up at him. "Celtic snap out of it you jackass!" she snapped under her breath.

Celtic had a couple tears running down his cheek. He was doing everything in his power to fight this. He could see himself bending down grabbing her bad leg wishing he could stop what he was doing. "Do it.." Bella goaded him. Autum shrieked as he twisted her broken leg. The blade she had been weiding vanished from the pain.

Falling to his knees he let go of her. He gritted his teeth as he held his head. He hurt her worse. He should've just done it, shot her up with it, let her do whatever to him. He just worried she wouldn't be able to take the pain that formula caused. Besides last time he was still able to fight it, apparently they are getting close to perfecting the formula.

Bella walked up to Autum, scrutinizing her as Autum slammed her fist into the ground trying to fight the pain. "Orme. Bella called. Autum glared at her. Part of her feared what the woman might command of Celtic next. It was clear that he didn't have control over himself. What was worse she couldn't fight him in this condition. "Pick her up and put her on that table." Bella nodded as she walked towards her desk.

Celtic slowly moved, his body still on autopilot, he didn't have control still. He feared that he might have to hurt her again and he wouldn't be able to stop it. He picked her up. Walking up to the table he set her on it.

Autum held her leg with her eyes closed. Great, she thought her leg was in worse shape than it was before. She was sure that this woman was testing whatever was in that vial against emotions. They didn't know that her emotions were sealed for the idiot and her memories. Celtic should've just shot her with that stupid medical gun. At least those feelings wouldn't blind her, she already had one person doing that, the good thing was he was far away from all of this.

Celtic stood waiting for his next command. He blinked a couple of times and he collapsed to his knees panting. "I-i" he closed his eyes. "Autum, I-i didn't want to.." he muttered.

Bella walked up to them. It seemed it lasted a bit longer and he wasn't able to fight it this was a step forward. She bent down next to Celtic looking at him. She held a medical gun to him. "Use it on her leg. You shoot it in yourself. I promise you will hate the next thing I command of you."

Celtic looked at her. His hand shook a little as he took it from her. He reluctantly stood up. His balance was off. With his free hand he used the table to help. He didn't look at Autum's face, avoiding eye contact, the guilt was too much. He shot her in the leg.

Bella stood up and grabbed Autum's leg. She twisted it and pushed it back into the socket. Autum let out a cry of pain as she laid back. She had been through so much pain in so little time. Her body was exhausted and she couldn't fight back the pain as much now.

"You should be happy I gave you any pain medication." Bella spouted. Looking at Celtic who clearly was having issues standing. "Go to Reki's room. Don't come out till I call you."

Celtic looked at Bella. Looking to Autum, who knows what this woman would do to her. "I am going to stay." He looked to Bella who watched him carefully. "Are you disobeying a direct order, Orme? " A stern voice spoke up behind them.

Celtic's eyes shot over to Oskal, his heart stopped. He glanced away, great this bastard now. "No, he wasn't Oskal." Bella spoke up looking over at him smiling. "He got to choose to rest or help me administer the drug to Autum." She glanced back at Celtic who stared at her. "Apparently he wants to help, you came just in time for it." Bella reached into her pocket pulling out the vial holding it out to Celtic.

Celtic winced as he felt Autum grab his wrist. He looked at her. "Just fucking do it." She snapped under her breath. She was breathing heavy from the pain she was in. Slowly he took the vial hooking it into the medical gun he had. Moving it to her temple, he paused. Closing his eyes he shot her, he could feel her grip tighten on his wrist.

Autum let out a scream as she rolled over holding her head with her other hand. It was a lot more painful than she expected it to be. She closed her eyes trying to hold back her screams.

Oskal watched the two closely. He knew that Bella was covering for the immortal. It seemed Celtic would disobey for his wife. Though the woman was in their hands, so they could use her as an asset to keep Celtic under control. Meaning; they needed to find something to keep the woman in line till they had finished the formula.

Bella watched as Autum's body language relaxed. "Get up off the bed." She wanted to know if the subject could feel pain or not. So it was a very perfect experiment. Watching Autum move off the bed she stood there looking at Bella and Oskal. She didn't seem to show any sign of pain.

Grinning, Oskal walked up to Autum, studying her. "Ask her how she is able to summon her blade." He spoke up as he walked behind Autum surveying her.

Celtic stepped back away from Oskal. He felt horrible for what all was happening. She should never have come for him! He was watching Oskal closely, if he did anything to her. No, he couldn't. There were too many people lives on the line right now.

"How are you able to summon your blade Autum?" Bella asked firmly while watching Celtic. It was clear he had his full attention on Oskal. Part of her wanted to know what the immortal would do if they did put Autum in danger. Would he be willing to strike Oskal?

"I just call the blades name" Autum spoke up. "Why are you able to?" Bella questioned her. "I don't know." Bella stared at Autum dismayed by the reply. She can summon a sword and has no clue why? She glanced to Oskal who chuckled.

Oskal put his hand on Autum's arm looking at the seals. He ran his hand down her arm studying them. "I guess I see why you picked her Orme." Smirking as he looked to Celtic. "She looks to be your age, but how old are you really, huh? How much did you lie to this woman, to make her fall in love with you? Why don't you tell us?"

Celtic gritted his teeth. His attention went to Autum as she let out a small cry as she fell and hit the ground. Rushing to her aid ignoring Oskal's questions. By her expression he could tell that she was in more pain than she could even express. He held her close, "She needs medical attention."

Oskal watched the demon, he glanced at Bella debating what to do. "Their on your time you decide." Oskal prompted as he walked over to Bella. Glancing to Oskal she looked back at Celtic. She doubted Autum needed a doctor. She probably passed out from the pain. "Pick her up and take her to her cell. Then go head to Reki's room." She instructed him.

Watching the demon slowly get to his feet holding his wife. Her eyes followed his every step out of the room. "It seems Orme is treading on thin water." Oskal warned Bella. Bella smirked, "Shows a lot though, how much he cares. It's good for testing.. such as the formula. Celtic took the vial the first time rather than giving it to her. After such a galliant move I made him punch her and break her leg again so his little gesture was in vain. It's clear that I have gotten it a lot stronger."

Oskal nodded in approval. "Then we shall run our little test before heading to bed." He proposed. "I'll go set up for the girl to be tested and you should make sure Orme ends up in Reki's room. As he is testing his limits it seems." He warned her.

Celtic meandered down the hall. His body trying to fight through what had been done to it. He avoided any eye contact with the scientist and guards along the way. He couldn't deal with it, not now.

Walking into the lab with the cells, he glanced to the wings that the scientist seemed to be studying. His eyes trailed to the small demon who was pinned onto a table. She looked to be out cold, they had a device on her back.

Cringing at the thought of what they had done to the child, he walked up to Autum's cell. It was open. Walking into it, he looked at what could be called the bed. He gently laid her on it. They would be sending a doctor, right? He sat down on the ground and leaned against the cot-like bed. He looked at Autum and then laid his head on the edge of the bed. He would wait for the doctor to yell at him, at least he would know that she got help.

Bella made her way down the hall, typing on her tablet. She was compiling her new results. She walked into the lab where Autum should've been dropped off. She took note of the cell being open still. Walking up to the cell she looked down at the demon who had passed out leaning against the bed. She looked to one of the guards in the room. "Lock the cell with both of them in there." She started to walk out, she was excited that she was going to get to do her experiment with Brat, it didn't matter too much about the immortal at the moment.

Walking over to a scientist. "When either of them wake up please send a message to me." She smiled as she walked out of the room.

Brat was leaned up against the glass of her small cell. None of these scientists would tell her of her father or anyone else who came for her. It was wearing on her, she feared the worse for her friends.

Her eyes trailed to the door as she saw Oskal walk in. Her ears went low, as much as she hated the bastard he was the only one who probably would boast about what happened to her father and friends. She needed to know what happened to them, were they alive? They were all in this mess because they tried to save her.

Watching him walk over to a couple of the scientists who handed him files. He didn't seem too happy with them. He pointed at Brat saying something and then tossed the file back to the scientist. He then pointed to the door watching the scientist leave.

He approached her small tube cell. He smirked at her and tapped on the glass. He wanted to see if that other side of her would come out. Pushing a button on the control panel he watched her. He could tell by her expression she was waiting for him to speak. He knew what she was waiting for, he chuckled some.

"It seems you get the last of my attention for the night." Oskal spoke up. Pushing another button on the control panel the tube slid up. He watched the girl fall off the small platform. "Stay where you are." he commanded as he walked around it looking down at her.

Brat didn't look at him, she just stared at the ground knowing that any moment he would command something. The stupid pet collars would shock her till she did it. She flinched as she felt his hand on her head. Clenching her fist she was powerless. "What has happened to my father.." she spoke under her breath.

Oskal smirked as the girl finally said something. He bent down in front of her as he took his hand off of her. "Maybe after this I'll let you know. I'll also let you know what I am doing to your crew members, too. That will be exciting news, you might even find out which ones are in critical care right now."

Brat looked at him staring at him. What had he done to her friends and family? Her heart sank. She had to find a way to save them.

"Aren't you nice" Bella articulated as she walked up behind him. "I would have let the rat suffer and not know anything." She held the medical gun to him. "Well, I like to suffer lab rats in a different way than you." He chortled. She watched him take the gun and grab the girl's arm. He pulled her close as he shot it into her temple. A grin went across Bella's face as Brat shrieked from the pain.

Oskal stood up as the girl curled up on the ground. When she went silent he glanced at Bella. Bella smirked "Get to your feet." She commanded of the girl, but nothing. She watched the girl's reaction. She was just staring at her hands.

"So, it seems that our theory may be right." Oskal spoke up as he grabbed Brat's arm pulling her up to her feet. When he let go of her she stumbled back growling at him. It was clear she lacked balance walking on two legs. Her brown eyes were green and more cat-like.

"Is this the beast of Orion." Oskal asked. "Can you speak?" He questioned the girl watching her closely. The beast was clearly trying to grasp that it was in a human body. She glared at Oskal and then at Bella.

Debating whether to talk and please these two scientists. To speak, was the question. Asking anything of them, they would want answers in return. None of which she would want to tell them. It was clear in this body she would be defenseless and still with those dreaded collars.

"Do you understand what I am saying to you?" Oskal asked as he walked towards her. He knew to keep his guard up. Who knows how this beast would react in this human body. It was clear that she was studying him, though hard to tell if she could understand him.

"I command you to speak in common, tell us your name beast." Bella barked knowing that the pet collars would activate. She rather not go Oskal's route, it was wasting too much time, as they found out they didn't have too much time when she switched like this.

The girl let out a scream as she held her neck. She was fighting not to speak, not wanting these mortals to pester her about herself. "Orion!" she snapped panting as the pain stopped. She collapsed to her knees, it was clear that this body was in shambles from transforming so much.

Oskal looked back at Bella as she walked up to Brat. "So you can speak, good. Alright "Orion' why did you kill all of those people on that station?" she snapped at the girl.

Orion looked up at Bella "I only killed the ones who hunted" she snapped at Bella. She let out a small cry as Bella slapped her. "You liar! You murdered my children!" she yelled. "You tore them apart! They were not hunters! They were kids!" It was clear that Bella was letting her emotions get the better of her.

Orion closed her eyes as she listened to the woman express herself. "I killed no child that day." she responded sternly. "You liar!" Bella screeched. Oskal grabbed Bella from behind and held her. She started to cry. "I'm going to make you kill her father… even if you try to fight it." she snapped at Orion.

"Bella." Oskal spoke softly to her. "Go on to the bedroom. I'll finish up here." He let go of her watching her try to straighten herself up some as she walked out of the room. The moment she was out of the room Oskal bent down looking at his little experiment.

"Next time, we are going to have a nice long conversation about what the hell you are Orion." He grinned at her. He got up and kicked her in the face. Watching her lay helpless on the ground, it was clear she wasn't getting back up. "Get her back in her cage. Also make sure that the message was sent that I am keeping this girl." he spoke to the scientists who were standing obediently outside of the room.

Orion glanced at a table that was nearby crawling up to it and she snatched something off of it as the scientists were just then making their way back into the room. She tucked it into her shirt, praying that the girl would be able to use it to get out of these collars.
