It is early June. Sun is glaring, heat rising by the day. The demigod quest is nearly concluded, the Seven waiting for their impending battle with Gaea.
"So. Anyone have a plan?" Leo Valdez. Son of Hephaestus. Pyrokinetic. Short, latino elvish looking boy.
"Not really. All we have is "to storm or fire the world must fall". which means it could be me, you or Perce." Jason Grace. Son of Jupiter. Praetor of Rome. Atmokinetic. Blond, built, attractive teen.
"We really don't know what that means yet Jason, it could have a double meaning. Most prophecies do." Annabeth Chase. Daughter of Athena. Blonde, slender Californian type girl.
"Still. There aren't that many possibilities for that. That line seems pretty clear to me, Annabeth."
Frank Zhang. Centurion of the Fifth Cohort of Rome. Son of Mars. Shapeshifter. Stocky, built, Asain teen.
"Even so, we still have to consider the possibility of anything happening. Gaea could literally anything hidden up her sleeve." Piper Mclean. Daughter of Aphrodite. Charmspeaker. Lean, tan, athletic young woman.
"Seriously though. We need to figure something out before we, and the rest of Western Civilization get wiped out." Hazel Levesque. Daughter of Pluto. Geokinetic. Slim built, dark young lady.
Annabeth looks towards the last member of the quest, Percy Jackson.
Son Of Poseidon.
Slayer of Kronos, the Minotaur, Medusa, Polyphemus, Alecto, Polybotes, Arachne and countless others.
Survivor of Tartarus.
Honorary Praetor of Rome
Savior of Artemis.
Hero of Olympus.
Percy Jackson stood at the port side of the ship, staring out to sea, his green eyes smoldering as he turned and faced the rest of the group.
"Chiron just IM'ed me from camp. Gaea is starting to awaken there, and we're nowhere near the States yet. I'm calling the gods." He said, walking to the brig.
"Oh Iris, goddess of the Rainbow, show me Zeus, King of the Gods, on Olympus." Percy whispered into the mist.
"Young Perseus. What pray tell is so important that it requires my attention? Olympus is about to descend on Camp Half-Blood as we speak." Zeus thundered.
"Uncle, when you launched us from Greece, we did not land where intended. The Argo II is out of commission, and Jason does not have enough energy to transport all of us to Camp. If you would be as generous to lend us a hand, we would be honoured to aid you on the battlefield my Lord." Percy responded with his head bowed.
"Ah I see. Thank you for informing us of this young demigod. Apollo and Artemis shall arrive shortly to assist you." Zeus spoke. Percy nodded.
"Thank you Lord Zeus." Percy replied, waving his hand through the mist to end the call.
Just as he was about to turn around and go tell the others, two bright flashes appeared right in front of him.
The one on the left, the golden one, faded first, revealing Apollo suited up in armour with his bow slung over his shoulder.
The second one, silver in colour, faded to reveal Artemis in her usual Hunter's outfit, with her hunting knives strapped to her side.
"Lord Apollo. Lady Artemis. I thank you on behalf of the Seven for aiding us on our quest." Percy said, lowering into a bow as he spoke.
"Aw cuz you don't need to bow to me. We're cool y'know?" Apollo said, reaching to pull Percy out of his bow.
"Boy." Artemis replied, a cold look gracing her features.
"Bring us to the Seven. I want to talk to my favourite, awesome half-brother before we go huh?" Apollo said, walking through the hall towards the deck.
"Lord Apollo? Lady Artemis? What are you doing here?" Jason exclaimed, with a shocked look on his face.
"Just here to help you demigods get to Camp. Four of you come with me, and the other three go with my little sis, and we'll meet you there ok?" Apollo responded, preparing to flash them to Camp.
"I'm not your little sis you idiot. I'm a day older than you. How many times do I have to say it to get it through that thick skull of yours?" Artemis hissed, glaring daggers at her younger twin.
Apollo flinched and backed away.
"Ok Ok, sorry sis. So who's coming with me?"
Hazel, Frank, Leo and Piper raised their hands and walked towards Apollo. In the meanwhile, the remaining three, Annabeth, Percy and Jason walked towards Artemis, waiting for her permission to touch her.
"Everyone grab on. Let's hurry to Camp. You demigods have a war to fight." Artemis said stoically, flashing the three to Camp, Apollo following suit.
TIME SKIP
The war was over. Gaea had fallen back into her slumber, and Olympus had prevailed once again facing a near-unbeatable battle.
Out of all of this, their two-time Saviour was still in a shit mood.
Flashback
Percy stood by the beach, just examining the peace he helped build up once again. Fiddling with the Olympian Silver ring he had received from Hephaestus, he breathed a sigh of relief. He heard a twig snap, and spun around, Riptide already at the stranger's throat.
Annabeth raised her hands. "Percy, we need to talk."
Capping Riptide, he walked towards Annabeth, hands reaching for hers. She pulled back, not looking him in the eye.
"I'm fed up Percy." She said, sadness filling her voice.
Percy, shock filling his features, tried to speak, but was cut off by Annabeth.
"You've saved me so many times Percy. It's almost sickening. I love for everything you are, and I wish things didn't have to end like this. I don't want to be in a relationship where I'm the one being saved all the time." she said, tears beginning to fill her eyes.
Percy began to shake. "Annabeth I-"
"LISTEN TO ME PERCY! I- I wanted to be able to stand next to someone who I could consider my equal, my partner. I thought that my pride would let me be with you and stay with you, but now…. Now you've gone and made the gap in between us even further." she sobbed, falling to her knees.
Percy stood there, emotionless, thoughts and scenes racing through his head.
Percy flying her out of the pit of mechanical spiders.
Percy standing over her as the Golden Fleece healed her.
Percy fighting Atlas on the quest to save Artemis when she was holding up the sky.
Percy telling her to leave Hephaestus' workshop just before it exploded.
Percy fighting Kronos while she lay on the ground, helpless.
Percy killing Arachne after falling into Tartarus with her.
Percy taking a near fatal blow just as Gaea was about to kill her with an earthen spear.
He looked up at her, tears streaming down his face. He reached out towards her, hands cupping her cheeks.
"Annabeth, I know you know this was never my intention. But if this is how you feel, then I will accept it, for both our sakes." he said solemnly, never taking his eyes off of her.
She nodded, a forced grin gracing her features.
"Thank you Percy. I wish things didn't have to end like this.." she whispered at the end, making her way to leave.
"Wait. Take this. I know that it won't help, but it's better if you have it, rather than me." he said, pulling the ring out of his pocket.
Handing it to her, she looked at it and gasped, tears filling her eyes once more. The ring was beautiful, created from the rare Olympian SIlver, with ornate inscriptions all over it, describing their multitude of adventures. In the middle, there sat two small gemstones, fluorite and emerald, intertwined so it looked as if they were naturally meant to be together.
" I had it made before the war started, while we were in New Rome. Hephaestus and Hades helped me, forging the ring, carving the inscriptions, and fusing the gemstones." he said with his trademark grin, albeit a bit less bright than usual.
"Percy I-"
"Annabeth, I should have realized this sooner. When I bathed in the Styx, I was relieved when I saw you as my mortal point. Your name and face were the only things I remembered entering New Rome other than my own name. I was happy, just being able to be with you for as long as I was. I'm not the best person to be saying this, but as my mom once told me, I know you'll do what's best for Annabeth, because she'd do the same for you. If this is what's best for us, then be happy ok? Don't be sad for me, be happy for your future." he said with an air of finality, leaving her alone with the ring.
LINE BREAK
2 years have passed. Six of the Seven were made immortal, minor gods of heroes, and protectors of Camp Half-Blood and Camp Jupiter, which have moved closer to each other due to security issues. Nico and Reyna were also made immortal, Nico serving as his father's lieutenant, and Reyna as the legion's eternal Praetor.
Within those 2 years, no one had seen or heard anything of the Hero of Olympus. It was as if he had disappeared off the face of the earth. The camps had sent out multiple search parties, and had always come back empty handed, not even sensing a trace of where he might have been.
At the same time though, the camps had been receiving more and more demigods, and the Hunt receiving maidens meeting Artemis' terms. Each of them said the same thing describing the man: "Pitch black hair, about 6'2, lean, built and has golden eyes."
Everyone had the same thoughts racing through their heads. This was essentially a description of Percy Jackson, aside from the golden eyes. When asked what weapon he used, the gods were shocked to learn that the mystery man used nothing but his hands to take down the monsters. His hands, and a faint golden glow that surrounded him.
Little did the gods know, all of their questions would soon be answered.
