Chapter 35: Autum's Seals

Autum groaned as all she could feel was a throbbing of her leg. Opening her eyes she could see Celtic on the floor against her little cot. Debating whether it would be worth her time or not to wake him. Rolling over she started to check his pockets. The idiot had to have something useful. She pulled out the black lighter looking at it. Hearing someone outside of her door she rolled back on her back tucking the lighter under the bed mattress. Her eyes trailed to the door as it opened.

A guard walked in. "Orme up now!" the guard snapped. There seemed to be no response from Celtic, it was clear he was a heavy sleeper. The guard walked in and kicked him in the leg. "Get up!"

Celtic jumped a little as he looked up to the guard. Gritting his teeth he slowly got to his feet. Looking to Autum who had closed her eyes to pretend to be asleep. It was clear she didn't get any medical treatment.

The guard walked out waiting for him. Once he walked out the guard locked up the cell. "Go to the mess hall and take this." One of the scientists spoke to the guard holding up a coffee mug. The guard nodded as he walked up grabbing the mug as he escorted Celtic to the mess hall.

Celtic looked around the mess hall. There seemed to be only a few people there, it was in the early hours. Celtic glanced to the guard who guided him up to a person who had their head on the table. The guard pointed to the chair, walking away. He walked up, setting down the coffee cup on the table.

The woman who had her head on the table eyed the coffee. She yawned as she took the coffee while taking a drink. "Forgive me, I just got out of a 12 hour surgery then they shipped me here for this consult." Setting down the coffee she rubbed her eyes. Her green eyes looked to Celtic, a smile covered her face.

Celtic stared at the woman, he remembered her from a long time ago. The woman didn't even look like she had aged over the years. "My how you've aged over the years Celtic." The woman chuckled. "I remember when I met you. Oskal had invited me onto this station. My little nephew, Reki, ran to me screaming for help." She then pointed at Celtic. "He didn't want to say what had happened, so he dragged me to you. He was scared that his father would find out. You nearly had cut off your arm from some stupid stunt. There you were not crying at all, more worried about the trouble Reki would be in." She smiled. "It's amazing you were left with no scars after that surgery."

Celtic chuckled lightly remembering the past. He wasn't sure why he was meeting with her. The woman was a surgeon. "Mira, what did you mean consult?" Celtic spoke up as he watched her take a drink of her coffee.

Mira looked at him and she pulled out her phone looking at it. "I'm not exactly sure of all the details. It's odd talking not to the patient about it, it's for an Autum Hitaru. I apparently will be on call for an emergency surgery. All I have is current scans of her, but nothing seems really for my specialty. She reached over to her bag pulling out a tablet. Doing a couple swipes on it she set it down in front of him. She looked up to him.

"Is everything ok?" By Celtic's expression it was clear something she said triggered it. Celtic looked down at the tablet in front of him. He closed his eyes, he knew what this all was. It was for when he had to unseal Autum. He didn't even know what to say to her.

Mira looked to the guard. Something was off about all of this. She stood up looking to the guard. "I want to speak with Oskal." Celtic looked up. "N-no, Mira." Celtic spoke up. He had to have a good reason for how he was acting. "Why not, it's clear that I am not being told what's going on. As a surgeon I need to be told about everything to make sure that they come out alive. I'm also not one of Oskal's hired hands!"

"S-she's my wife." Celtic spoke up praying that this would stop her. He couldn't have Oskal thinking he wasn't being cooperative. Mira stared at him. She slowly sat back down. She looked to the tablet. She was to ask the person where and what injuries were on this woman. All of this was unsettling to her. "I want to know what is going on or I will go to Oskal." She looked to Celtic.

What he said next had to be very choice words. He knew that there was a reason the guard was here still, keeping tabs on what he said. Celtic closed his eyes figuring out what to say. He knew he was bad at lying.

"I sealed up her wounds a long time ago." Celtic started as he took the tablet. "Oskal, he." Celtic glanced up to her. "Wants me to unseal her. She will have the same wounds from the day I sealed her. They will be worse though."

Mira listened to him. "You obviously don't approve of what my brother has asked of you." She watched him closely. "Uh.. I" Celtic looked down and shook his head. "Why isn't she here? I believe I should be consulting her on the risk as well. This is more about her, than you Celtic"

Celtic looked up at her. "She is…"

"Occupied at the moment." Oskal said as he walked up to them. "Forgive me for not being here when you arrived." He smiled at her.

Mira studied him as she tapped the tips of her fingers together trying to figure out this. "Why are you having him unseal his wife?" she asked as Oskal took a seat at the table.

Oskal glanced at Celtic, deciding what he had said to her. He doubted Celtic would've said anything he shouldn't have. "His wife wants the seals removed." He leaned back looking at Mira. "I doubt being occupied is keeping her from being here. From what he said the wounds would be worse than before, that is information his wife needs to know."

"She already knows this Mira." Oskal spoke up. He winced as Mira slammed her hand on the table. "Get her in here Oskal, I'm not playing whatever game you're playing. So go get her." She crossed her arms. "Plus I can tell you already have him under your thumb." She nodded to Celtic. "He is too scared to say much to me." She snapped.

Oskal studied his sister. She knew him all too well. "I'm sure she is probably with the medical staff getting that leg treated, because I won't do surgery with a leg like that." she snapped.

Oskal got to his feet. "I will go fetch Autum then." He watched his sister stand up. "I'm sure the three of us can go. I prefer to ask her if she really wants these seals off." She smiled. "Come Celtic, I'm sure you would like to tell me how you met her."

Oskal gritted his teeth and pulled out his phone typing a couple things on it. Mira watched him and looked to Celtic who was staring at the ground. "How did you meet?" Celtic glanced at her. "Uh,er we met through the Elites." He spoke quietly.

"Oh you were part of that rumored group? Reki and Oskal never told me where you vanished to." Mira smiled at him.

Bella walked into the lab yawning. Getting the text from Oskal had woke her up. "Get a doctor in there to fix up her leg." she snapped. Stretching a little she walked up to the door opening it. She looked at Autum who had set up on the bed leaning back against the wall. She looked up to Bella. The guards had come in and shackled her, she didn't fight; she hoped that it would give her more time to rest.

"Now you are going to be unshackled, we expect you to be good. Any questions that are asked we want you to answer them honestly or by what we say to. If not, we will kill your brother and then from there we will go through the list of the rest of the kids here. Their lives are on your hands." Bella walked up to her bending down holding up an earpiece. "Just incase if I need to inform you of anything." She spoke up as she put it into Autum's ear.

Autum looked at the woman. What was she playing at? "Move her to the lounge and get her whatever she wants to drink. " Bella spoke up. "Do it quickly."

Oskal stopped outside of a room and looked at Mira. "She's here. She really can't be walking around on a bad leg." Mira walked up to the room. "You two boys can stay out here till I call you then." Mira walked into the room.

Looking at Autum who was sitting on the couch taking a swig of a bottle. Walking up she sat on the coffee table in front of Autum. "I am Mira, you must be Autum." Mira held out her hand for the bottle. "If you don't mind, the drink"

Autum studied the woman and held the bottle to her. Mira studied the bottle reading the name of it. "Good choice. Especially to numb the feeling of physical pain. Also to help with emotional distress, helps numb that part of your brain." She handed it back to Autum.

Autum didn't say anything. She didn't know what was going on. It was clear that they were trying to impress this woman. Who would they need to impress? She knew Oskal was the Upper here, most Uppers didn't dabble in each other's private matters. So who exactly was this woman? She didn't seem to have any emblems on her clothing to show ranking.

Mira watched her take another drink. It seemed the woman wasn't much of a talker. "Let me see one of your hands." She held out one of her own. Autum let out a sigh holding her hand to the woman. She watched Mira slowly move her hand over her wrist moving slowly up her forearm. Her touch was gentle and soft.

Mira looked at the markings over Autum's arms. "Do you want the seals your husband put on you removed?" Mira looked at Autum. "And just so you know, I know a force answer when I hear one. I want to know what you want. It's clear that Celtic doesn't approve of the matter, but that shouldn't matter as this is your body."

Autum glanced away from the woman. Was this a trap she was walking into? Here in all places they were taunting her with the one thing she wanted, these seals removed. She could hear Bella barking at her in the ear piece to say yes. She was trying to sort her own emotions. This was the chance to get them unsealed right? Should she take it?

"So?" the woman asked, waiting for a response. She clearly was watching Autum body language trying to pick out what she was thinking.

Autum looked at her nodding. "Why would you want these seals taken off? They are from what I heard just holding wounds in check." Mira questioned her.

"There is more than just wounds sealed." Autum spoke quietly as the woman let go of her arm. Mira studied her as she spoke. "Is whatever that is worth possibly death?" Mira spoke up as she got to her feet.

Was it worth still losing her life? She had friends, she found out some of those memories. Yet, she had no emotions to them. Looking up to the woman. "Yes." Autum spoke up. Their eyes met and then there was a silence.

"You both can come in." Mira said as she looked out the door. The moment Oskal walked in Mira glared at him. "Why was this woman in shackles?"

Oskal had his phone out walking up to her. He held it to her. "Mrs Hitaru here is a wanted woman. She was turned in, I did what I could to bring her here for the sake of Orme. Some things I do because I have to keep in line to please others."

Mira took the phone looking at the wanted data. She tossed the phone to Autum sitting down on the couch across from her. "Is that true? Or did he toss this together just to please me?" Mira questioned her.

Autum looked at the phone looking at it. Glancing at Celtic who slowly sat down on the couch next to her. "It's true. I am the assassin Black Ash." she verified as she tossed the phone to Oskal. "Can't say the man is doing me a favor, though. Still locked up in a cell." She spoke up looking at Oskal who didn't look happy from her comment.

Mira smirked, the woman was honest. It was clear that Oskal wasn't happy by his expression. "The broken leg?" Mira decided to push for more information. "Is this important? It's clear she wants the seals removed." "Yes." Mira insisted as she leaned back crossing her arms.

Autum looked to the bottle that was almost empty. She knew she still needed to watch what she said. She could hear Bella telling her to say. All of it was some bullshit story, to make it seem like they weren't the bad ones here and it was here. She decided to just go with the truth. In the end she could just tell this woman to go look at the camera's if Oskal wanted to challenge her.

"I broke in here to free my niece." Autum's eyes trailed to the woman. "Oskal is a bit of a lying bastard, isn't he? I wasn't transferred here I was caught here trying to rescue my niece. Just happened to be the same place of this idiot of a demon." Autum illuminated as pulled out the earpiece tossing it onto the table. "Mr. Upper also has a bitch of an assistant as well. Wanted me to play nice so made me wear that. Been bitching up a storm in my ear."

Celtic stared at the earpiece. What was Autum doing? Was she really trying to push Oskal? He looked up at the man who clearly was holding his anger back. He was shocked as he heard Mira laughing. It wasn't the reaction he was expecting. By Oskal's face, it wasn't what he was expecting either.

Mira leaned back laughing at Autum. "Finally, someone who isn't afraid who talk back. What more; honesty, no lies made up to try to please me." She glanced at Oskal who was glaring at her. "I will be on call for this. Not for you, for her. She clearly isn't afraid of you, Oskal." She looked to Autum.

"I also know what I want as payment for this. I want 2 days with Reki, his little friend, Celtic, and his wife, Autum here." Mira looked at Oskal. "I want reservations at the Galidace for a dinner for four. I also want 3 hotel rooms, the best rooms on whatever DP station you want us on. So that way you can keep track of your prisoner."

Oskal closed his eyes trying to calm himself. " No promises." Mira shook her head. " Don't bullshit me you can do it… all but the reservations should be easy for you." She lectured as she bent down for her bag.

"I believe it's time for business matters now." Mira said as she opened her bag. She pulled out her phone. She touched it to the table. The table lit up showing the full body scan of Autum. Looking to Celtic. "I need you to explain her injuries and the extent of them. As much as you can remember with as much detail." She looked to Oskal. "I'm sure you have better things to do than be here and bother my consult. So off."

Oskal got to his feet. "Do you need Orme?" He questioned his sister. "Yes, this is a family matter between them. He is her emergency contact and he needs to understand what options he might have to pick from for a worse case." Mira looked back at him. "So if you don't have any other slow-witted questions you can leave us. Though." She pointed her thumb at Autum. "No more alcohol for her.. or whatever other drugs you are going to put in her. I also need a list of everything you have given her since she 'transferred' here. I will also be sending you a list of the medical staff I want. It will take them two to three days to get here."

Autum watched the woman. It was clear the woman could back talk all she wanted to the Upper. She was a bit surprised. Most Uppers don't even deal with family any more. Here he was under every whim of his sister trying to please the woman. She glanced at Celtic, what more it seemed Celtic knew this woman. She closed her eyes, her pain still ached. She knew that they didn't give her the best treatment but at least her leg would heal. She was grateful for the alcohol it felt like it was drowning out everything slowly.

Mira looked back at them as her brother left. "As this is a medical consult. I do need this information from you, Celtic." She pointed to the table. "The more information the better the odds that we will be able to make this successful. You understand that?"

Celtic nodded. He didn't even know where to start. He glanced Autum, he knew that this would be news to her to know the extent of what had happened to her. Looking to Mira and then to the table.

Mira could see the fear. "After you explain it all. We will talk about the complications and then we will decide if we want to continue with this." she assured him. "I will not go into this if I believe we will fail at keeping her alive."

Celtic nodded. He then started to explain everything he remembered of that day, describing her injuries. He dare not mention what had caused it. Celtic was sure the room was bugged and they would want to know about the furies. Also it was clear that Mira didn't care, she wanted to know everything about the extent of only the injuries.

Mira was looking over the markups that Celtic had done. Leaning back she was in deep thought. She then looked at Autum who clearly was taking it all in. All Eznik had told her was her child was ripped from her. Not all the other injuries that had happened. Her eyes trailed to her arms on the chart. She had deep gashes in them from what Celtic had said. Slowly she rubbed her arm trying to let it all sink in what happened.

"There will be a lot of risk with this. I can tell you what will for sure be a result of this. You will not be able to have children again, you will need to be bedridden for a month or more afterwards. Even with the medicines; the wounds and your age of your species it will take that much time for you to heal."

Autum looked at her as she spoke. "As I am now can I have a child?" She asked quietly. "To be honest I don't know how the seals work." She pointed to the scan. "I can tell there are some issues with healing here and here. You would have to go to a doctor and be examined for that one. It seemed who ever helped you after the seals did the best they could to help repair your body."

Celtic looked at Autum who clearly was taking deep thought in all of this. "Autum.." he uttered."I want to do this." she spoke up as she looked to Mira. "I want him to unseal me. If you can keep me alive through it then let's do this."
