Hey Guys! Here is a short Chapter 6 just to let you all know that I hear you and I wanted to show you that I am back with it and I am writing again! I will get more out soon, I PROMISE! I Just logged back on for the first time in a long, long time so just bare with me! I will have more out in the coming days!
Claudia Joy knew that Denise would want to continue that closeness, continue being fairly intimate as they had been since she came home from the hospital whenever she got back to the house that day, but something inside Claudia Joy had her worried. Denise meant so much to her, more than she ever thought possible, but Michael… Michael was her world. He was always supposed to be her forever, could this sudden passion with Denise really come in and change that?
She shook her head clear of the thought as she walked through the PX and nearly bumped into Roxy and Pamela. "Woah, there Claudia Joy, wake up there girl," said Roxy. "You need glasses or somethin?"
Claudia Joy shook her head. "Sorry, no, I just, my mind was wandering. I apologize ladies. It's good to see you though. I feel like things have been so crazy that we haven't had much time to talk."
Pamela and Roxy shot each other a look and Roxy spoke up. "Yeah that's cause you and Dee have been held up in her place since she came home from the hospital like it's Fort Knocks or somethin."
"Yeah, what's up with that?" Pamela added. "Is she okay?"
"She's doing better," Claudia Joy said. "She just hasn't really been feeling up to a lot of company and Michael called to tell me that Jeremy is home for a few days now so she will surely be tied up with him. It wasn't intentional that we were trying to keep you two away."
"Uh huh," Roxy mumbled. "You call us when we can come over Claudia Joy." The two started to walk away.
"I will, I promise," Claudia Joy assured them, sensing that her other two friends, Denise's friends were angry with them for not being around. They often hung as a group after that day with Pamela and the twins. That was certainly a day that Claudia Joy would never forget and it forged a friendship between the four women and Roland so she understood why they were upset, but she couldn't have it getting all over the post about her and Denise.
She continued her trek through the PX and then got out to her car as quickly as she could with the bags, silently praying that she wouldn't run into anyone else, literally or figuratively. As she turned the key in the ignition, she glanced at the clock on the dash, one pm, she was due to meet Michael for lunch in thirty minutes and she felt sick at the thought of seeing him for the first time since going over to take care of Denise since her accident.
Michael knew her better than anyone and he would know that there was something eating at her. What was she supposed to tell him? She couldn't lie, not about this, but this situation had the power to destroy so many more lives than just hers.
She dropped the groceries off at her house and then drove over to Michael's office where she was supposed to meet him for lunch. The closer she got to the parking lot, the harder she could feel her heart begin to pound against her chest. She wanted to keep this secret for now, for Denise's sake and for her own; they had to get a handle on their feelings and truly decide what they wanted, but she wasn't sure she could. The longer she kept this secret, the more it would hurt Michael.
