Chapter 48: New Memories

The four; Celtic, Link, Navi and Autum began again to clean up the house. Navi teleported back and forth a few times to get the supplies that Autum had purchased to fix the house up. The hardest part in this clean up was taking down the nursery. It took extra time as there was some mourning, a few fights and the like that went on during it. But as painful as it was they got it done.

They cleaned up the pond area and placed a large marker stone so to always remember the one they lost. Autum telling the others of her burdens and the like helped her release. And they all being so supportive and loving made her believe that maybe indeed her home could become home once again. She felt hopeful.

Link and Navi were happy to see Autum coming around. Celtic was more than thrilled as all of this along with Autum healing some helped heal a lot of his wounds as well.

As they moved forward Autum drew up some blueprints with Link and Navi for the house that they wanted. It was a small but adorable cottage.

Autum asked Brat's crew if they could help build it. They were more than up for it. They said they were almost done repairing their ship so as soon as they finished they'd be there to build that house. They would not let their friends down. This house building was going to be a family affair as they considered friends part of the family.

Eznik had a vid chat with all the group telling them he would have to bail on their plans. He had personal matters that he needed to tend to. He told Brat's crew that he would drop off his housewarming gifts to them and they could deliver them for him.

Everyone tried to pry information out of him as to why he would bail on this family affair especially it being the important marking of Autum and Celtic reclaiming their life and Link and Navi starting their new life here but all he would tell them is that he needed time for himself after everything that had happened.

After a little persuasion on their part Eznik did reveal to them that he was going to spend some alone time in a Space Colony. He said that he'd be gone for a month or longer. He also made Navi swear not to pop in for a visit. He would call when it was ok for them to come.

They weren't all that happy with his secrecy. All of them were worried about him as he was coming to the end of his life. They didn't ever really talk about it but it was always on everyone's mind. It was the fear and sadness of the inevitable that lurked over them all. And something just didn't hit right about this, all felt the tone in his voice and his expressed secretiveness didn't reflect the confidence that he usually emanated. He seemed unsure and actually nervous of what he was getting himself into, which made them a little anxious and wary.

But there was nothing they could do about it as no-one told Eznik what to do. He always claimed that was Autum's stubbornness and failing. But it was his as well..

Autum ended up coaxing Eznik into a private talk about it. She demanded answers. She told him that she had been through enough and at this time she shouldn't have to be worrying as she was trying to rebuild her life. She also pointed out the fact that he was nearing the end of his life and she thought it rather selfish of him not spending those valuable days with family and friends.

Eznik caved under her pressure and interrogation. He told her the reason for his secrecy was that he didn't want to get anyone's hopes up but he had a friend who said that he found someone that could possibly help extend his life. Just in case things didn't work out he didn't want to advertise it. Autum was excited to hear such. She had a really good feeling about it so she promised to keep his secret.

Brat and her crew showed up there a week later. They got Link's and Navi's house up in record time. And as for Eznik's housewarming gifts, he had bought furniture to fill the whole house. The others brought small trinkets, pictures, dishes and other necessities and the like for the two. Link and Navi were taken aback by everyone's generosity.

Everyone also brought a variety of exotic flowers specifically from other planets which they planted around Autum's and Celtic's pond and the marker in memory of their child. Autum and Celtic were appreciative of the sentiment.

Link and Navi stood looking at their new house feeling indeed they had found a new home. They were ready to begin their new life with new friends. They were markedly excited to start this new journey; this new adventure. They couldn't have been more happy. What more was Link had a mentor who was going to teach him how to adapt and live in this new world. All was looking bright.
