Beacon Cliffs
Standing upon cliffs south of the Emerald forest the headmaster of Beacon academy, alongside his aide reviewing the footage streaming into their scrolls of the first years.
"You concerned for your younger sister?" Ozpin asked his aid as he noted the concern on her normally stern face.
"No, I know she is fully capable to deal with the matters ahead, it's just," Glynda said before pausing as she struggled to find the correct words.
"Glynda what you are feeling is completely natural, you have practically raised that girl from young since your parents passed away, as someone who has been in your shoes before it is ok too feel some kind of worry," Ozpin said in an empathetic way.
Ozpin glanced down at his scroll and smiled briefly before turning to Glynda.
"It appears your sister has definitely found a fitting partner wouldn't you say."
Glynda checked her own scroll and saw that her sister was partnered up with Ironwood's niece.
"Well at least she is better off than Miss Nikkos. I don't care what his transcripts say he is not ready for this level of combat," Glynda said seriously with a frown marring her features.
"Hmmm," Ozpin looked intrigued by his aide's opinion.
"I guess we will find out soon enough."
"What are your thoughts on Mr Vulpez," Ozpin asked curious in any opinions his aide may have formed from observing him earlier and seeing his skills in person from the other night.
"He is most definitely skilled, he is physically impressive, and I would say highly adaptable," Glynda said thinking back to the night she first met the young man.
"But he is also reckless and struggles to take things seriously. If anything, he is similar to Miss Valkyrie, combat wise both brilliant but from what I've seen personality wise there is much to be desired." Glynda gave an honest opinion based on what little she had seen thus far.
Glynda checked over each pairing's locations.
"According to the trackers, the pace that the bulk of them are all making some headway and should reach the temple within the next few minutes," Glynda said before leaving the headmaster to continue with her duties, before she paused and looked back at her superior.
"Speaking of which, what did you use for relics this year?" Glynda asked. As she did not receive a response. "Professor Ozpin?" she tried to get his attention.
Ozpin did not respond as he was frowning as he began to watch the progress of Miss Rose and Miss Schnee.
Emerald Forest
"So, what do they call ya? Partner," Naruto asked as he walked over one of the grimm that had an axe lodged in it face.
"The name is Shikamaru, Shikamaru Nara."
"Nara where have I heard that name before," Naruto said out loud as he was having a bit of trouble yanking out the second axe.
'He knows about my clan?'
"You're from Anima right, I think fought a relative of yours in the back in the days when we were living in Grey Terminal," Naruto said just as he yanked the axe free with a sickening squelch.
'Is that all he knows?'
"Yeah that's my family name, wait the you're from the Grey Terminal?"
"Not originally but why you got a problem with it?"
The thing about Grey Terminal was while it was on the continent of Anima it was the forgotten city. Built on the worst battle during the ten- year great war, now it was filled with trash and vagabonds who have nothing else in life it is essentially a lawless zone. It represents the complete opposite of what Mistral stood for in regard to the arts, but the rulers of the kingdom just thought if they ignored the place it doesn't exist.
"Anyway, that was another life," Naruto stated before the scent of burning caught his attention.
"We should probably make a move Shika," Naruto began moving towards where he believed the temple to be
"It's Shikamaru," the Nara reminded before following after his partner.
'Troublesome red head.'
Elsewhere in the forest Erica and Samui had found the temple and were currently looking at the relics.
"These are chess pieces, right?" Erica said as she was looking at the remaining pieces that had yet to be taken.
"It would appear so," Samui responded as she reached for a golden bishop piece before a new voice entered the fray.
"There you are missy, I was looking for you."
Recognising the voice Erica turned to face her best friend Yang along with another girl dressed in a black and white motif.
"Looks like it just wasn't meant to be Yang," Erica paused before pointing towards her partner. "This is my partner Samui Ironwood. Samui this is my best friend Yang Xiao- Long," she introduced.
Yang introduced her partner as well before going over to the chess pieces and plucking a golden knight piece.
While the two blondes who knew each other were conversing Blake and Samui stood back observing their respective partners, but before she could do anything else a girlish shriek rang out through the entire forest.
"Oh no some girl is in trouble," Yang said with some concern in her tone.
"Erm Yang," Erica said trying to get her friends attention.
"Yeah."
Erica just pointed upwards. As the other three girls looked their jaws dropped as a black and red comet appeared to be falling towards them.
"I think that I can hear something," Blake pointed out
"YANNNNNNNGGGG!" the comet was shouting as it continued diving headfirst to the ground.
"Erica is that?" Yang asked not quite believing how her sister was in this predicament.
Before Erica could respond another body crashed into the falling ruby knocking both bodies into a tree.
"Did your sister just fall from the sky?" Blake chimed up.
"I," was all Yang managed before the treeline began to move and an ursa type grimm came flailing around before a burst of static and it collapsed, revealing there was a girl riding on the same grimm.
"Did that girl just ride in on an ursa," Samui said with equally dumbfounded look on her face as the three other girls she was originally with.
Just before Yang could respond once again, a guttural sound drew the four girls' vision towards another part of the treeline just as red head in armour came sprinting closely followed by a deathstalker type grimm.
Ruby leapt out of the tree landing next to her sister.
"Ruby," Yang called to her sister.
"Yang," Ruby responded as she went in for a hug.
"Nora," Nora declared jumping in between the two interrupting their moment.
"Did she just run all of this way with a death stalker chasing her?" Erica queried.
Before Yang could answer again a massive roar could be heard from further in the forest as to missiles were launched out the forest one after the other.
The first missile just crashed into Pyrrha as she was being chased by the deathstalker.
The second missile just used the momentum he was hit with to rotate and land on his feet, but he did slide backwards until he reached where the bulk of the students were. As the young man stood up, he was about run back and kick that grimm's ass before he was tackled to the floor by a pink blur.
"Hiya Naru, didjamissmedidyadidya," Nora said in a manner most people wouldn't be able to follow.
Sighing to himself trying to ignore the slight blush creeping on his face as he had Nora on top of him.
'Ren help me you bastard,' Naruto thought as he noticed Ren was purposefully looking anywhere else as he began whistling.
"Hey Nora, and of course I did, now if you excuse me, I got myself a second round with that asshole," He said while pointing towards the behemoth class grimm that just broke through the treeline.
A behemoth class grimm appears as a large humanoid beast with horns and four red eyes on his head. His stomach is covered with many red eyes as well as big jaws capable of devouring objects, like cars, and turning it into a fireball.
Before anything else could happen, Yang exploded.
"I can't take it anymore could everybody just chill out before something crazy happens again!" Yang ranted.
Erica just walked over and patted the girl on the back.
"Erm Yang, I told her to jump," Ruby said pointing up at the circling nevermore.
Samui stared up and had to squint before she could make out the figure.
"Is that Weiss?" She asked looking to Ruby for confirmation.
As everybody looked up to see Weiss hanging onto the grimm's talon.
"She going to fall," Erica pointed out.
"And she's falling," Ren chimed in after a few moments later.
As Weiss was falling Jaune spotted her and decided it would be his time to shine and dove catch her mid-flight. Only to realised that when he caught her, gravity was still a thing and they came plummeting down together.
As they landed Blake and Naruto winced at the sound.
"My hero," Weiss said sarcastically as she landed on Jaunes back.
"My Back," Jaune whined.
Then a fwap was heard as Pyrrha and Shikamaru were both knocked at the feet of the group.
Naruto kipped up as Nora got off of him and walked over to Shikamaru and poked him with his shoe.
"You're not dead are ya?" Naruto asked before seeing his partners eye lid twitch.
"Oh, get up you lazy bastard and stop pretending to be asleep," Naruto said before kicking his partner hard enough to get him to sit up.
"Alright, alright I'm up," Shikamaru as he slowly got up to his feet.
"Troublesome prick," Shikamaru said before he began helping Pyrrha up.
"Great the gangs all here now we can all die together," Yang said exasperated from so much happening in such quick succession.
"Not if I can help it sis," Ruby declared sprinting off towards the deathstalker.
Yang's, Erica's and Naruto's eyes widened as Ruby launched herself towards the grimm.
Yang began to chase after her sister while Naruto looked towards his oldest friends.
"Ren, Nora want to play some Dartball," Naruto asked as Ren sighed and Nora got a twinkle in her eye.
The others around them looked on curiously at where this conversation was leading.
Nora unfolded Magnhild into its hammer form and began holding it like a bat with the flat of her weapon facing behind her.
Naruto ran towards Ren who had knelt down interlocking his fingers and has soon as Naruto's foot made contact with Ren's hand, he was launched high into the air.
As the others looked on, they witnessed Naruto take his sword off of his back as he began to comeback towards them, Nora reared her makeshift bat some more before swinging. Just as Naruto's feet landed on the right on the end of the handle, she pulled the trigger using the recoil to help launch her friend faster.
As Naruto flew, he noticed himself going even faster as he looked below him, he saw that his own shadow had become an arrow.
'Is that,' Naruto thought before looking up ahead as he saw Ruby pinned down by a nevermore feather, and her sister was cut off by the same feathers.
As Yang was on the ground staring with worry as the deathstalker and behemoth grimm were both bearing down upon her sister.
Naruto revved his until a familiar glow orange glow began to emanate from the sword.
'What is that noise,' Yang thought as her gaze was torn from her sister as she looked behind her and her sisters friend wielding a super-hot looking sword that sounded like a motor bike
Just as he reached the first set of feathers, he swung his blade bisecting them with ease, passing by Yang on the ground, while another white blur was not too far behind.
Naruto allowed the exceed system built into his blade and the momentum he built up thanks to Ren, Nora and whoever was responsible for that shadow thing, to carry him as he cut through each feather.
'Just hold on Lil' Red.'
Ruby was in trouble her cloak was pinned and the deathstalker just launched its stinger tail towards her and the behemoth swung its massive armoured fist at her. So, she closed her eyes, expecting pain but it never came.
"You are so childish," a familiar voice rang out.
Ruby opened her eyes to see a wall of ice blocking the stinger of the deathstalker.
"Weiss," Ruby said a confused manor as she looked around, she also saw the arm of the behemoth cleanly sliced off.
'Is that,' Ruby thought to herself as she saw a body next to the arm.
"Naruto," Ruby shouted towards.
"Kinda busy Lil' Red," Naruto grunted in response as he was blocking the behemoths other fist with the flat off his blade.
'This thing swung at me almost instantly after I cut its other arm off.' Naruto thought as he was starting to lose ground against the behemoth class grimm, as it was slowly pushing him back.
"And dim witted, and hyperactive, and don't get me started on your fighting style, and I suppose I can be bit"
"Of a bitch we know, do you really have to do this now," Naruto interrupted as he fought to hold the beast's fist back.
Weiss blushed a bit from embarrassment kind of forgetting about the behemoth.
With a couple of flourishes the behemoth was now covered in a thin layer of ice and couldn't move, allowing for Naruto to hop backwards and gain some space.
"Now as I was saying before I was so rudely interrupted, I can be a bit difficult," Weiss paused to glare daggers into boy next to her and her partner for his earlier comment. "If we are going to do this, we should do it right. So, if you stop trying to show off, I'll be nicer."
"I'm not trying to show off, I just want you to know I can do this," Ruby said slightly upset.
"You're fine," Weiss said before heading back to the group.
"Normal knees," Ruby whispered to herself after taking a big sigh in relief.
"You give yourself some more credit Lil' Red you are what two years younger the rest of us and you can give some of us a run for our money," Naruto supported before adding "Not me though, I'll kick your arse nine ways to Sunday," Naruto ended with a thumbs up and stuck out his tongue followed by a teasing grin before Yang came over an joined them.
Now back with the rest the group the 12 teens noticed that the nevermore was circling back.
"What are going to do?" Jaune asked.
"Look there is no sense in wasting time our objective is right here," Weiss said as if it was the obvious choice.
She is right our mission is to grab an artefact and make it to the cliffs, there is no point in fighting these things," Ruby reasoned.
"Run and live, that is an idea I can get behind," Jaune contributed.
"As much I like a good fight, but they are right are mission is to secure these things not exterminate grimm," Naruto added.
Just before the group could leave a large roar just erupted from behind them and as the group turned around face it, they saw it was the behemoth freed from its frozen prison, charging down at them.
"Sorry but it looks like there has been a change of plans guys," Naruto said before he looked apologetically the others before he turned away from them.
"Troublesome red head," Shikamaru said as he followed after his partner.
"Naru what are you doing," Nora called out.
"We would never make it to the cliff with a behemoth on our case, and besides me and Shika here, owe it some more payback for those love taps earlier," Naruto said never taking his eyes off of the approaching grimm.
Samui looked to her partner and they both nodded both stepping up with the boys that were staying behind.
"Erica, what are you doing come on, let's go," Yang said.
"Sorry Yang not this time, you go on we will by you some time and catch up once we have dealt with this beast."
With some reluctance the others began to make their way to the cliff.
"Naruto!" Nora shouted showing Naruto that she was serious. "If you don't catch up to us, before we reach the cliff, I'm going to break your legs.
Naruto just looked over his shoulder locking eyes with Nora and just nodded
Naruto, Shikamaru, Samui and Erica ran off further into the clearing leaving the deathstalker partially frozen and the nevermore continue to follow the larger group of students.

'Here it comes,' Samui thought as the Behemoth leapt at them causing them to scatter.
Erica recovered first before turning to face the ancient grimm and began firing her rifle. She was joined by Shikamaru who was firing from his wrist mounted guns. As the grimm tried to use its one arm to cover up to protect itself. Whilst it was preoccupied Samui and Naruto began sprinting towards the grimm, with Samui just edging ahead due to her speed.
What the huntsman in training didn't see was the stump of an arm begin to bulge and ripple before a new armoured limb had sprouted.
Samui's eyes widened slightly as another fist came flying towards her. Using her speed, she veered off to the side just narrowly avoiding the fist. Naruto on the other hand wasn't so lucky and had to swing his sword early to block the fist from launching him off somewhere else.
"Is this all you got," Naruto mouthed off to the grimm before powering through and knocking the arm away forcing the grimm to lose its balance and stumble backwards.
Shikamaru and Erica both saw noticed something the row of teeth on its abdomen region began to open up.
"Get out of there, the second mouth is opening up," Erica shouted as she continued to fire a barrage at the grimm.
Shikamaru activated his semblance yanking both Naruto and Samui back towards him.
'The further the better when it comes to this thing,' Shikamaru thought.
Once the grimm's secondary mouth opened up completely it began suck everything up debris, trees, the remnants of the temple. Once it gathered up enough materials the mouth closed and appeared to be smiling for just a second before it spat out a glowing pink projectile towards the students.
"This is so not cool," Samui spoke up
"It spits fucking napalm from its stomach," Naruto said surprised by that fact that their previous position was dissolving into sludge.
"Shika with your weird shadow step semblance do you think you can get me close enough, so I cleave this fucker in two?" Naruto asked as he turned to his partner.
Shikamaru just nodded.
Naruto then turned to the girls of their little rag tag group.
"Samui was it? You're quick, think you can sneak around and stun the bastard, so it doesn't pull that mouth shit again," Naruto asked as soon as he received a nod he turned towards the final member.
"Can you provide cover fire and keep it busy until we are right where we need to be."
"I got your back," Erica responded.
"Let's go," Naruto said as he began sprinting towards the ancient grimm. He was quickly followed by Samui who had disappeared in a flash of blue lightning. As Erica began to lay down rapid fire covering allow for Shikamaru to focus on his semblance as he moved all of his pieces around.
Shikamaru converted the shadows underneath both Naruto and Erica as they continued to move forward towards the grimm. The behemoth began to charge at the two as it was irritated by the shots that were being peppered off of its armour skin. The grimm began swinging its arms wildly as it tried to smash down its to latest irritants, but it couldn't pin them down.
Naruto was getting used the rapid change of movement it was odd having to adapt on the fly so quickly, but once he had gotten used to it he kept avoid being turned into paste and slash, for every time the behemoth missed Naruto made it pay two fold.
"It's slowing down," Erica called out as she dodged another swing which kicked up a lot of dust obscuring the battlefield.
As soon as the dust was kicked up Naruto began revving his princess until she fully ignited. Naruto crouched low placing his free hand on the ground and held his sword of to the side.
Erica switched her weapons form as opened and wrapped around her arm.
'Buster Mode success,' Erica thought to herself.
Using her semblance to calculate the most like place for the grimm to she dashed right for it as she launched her right arm forward see clocked it right in the jaw dazing the grimm before hopping away before she lost her cover.
Just as the dust settled the grimm appeared to be dazed.
'It's distracted,' Samui thought to herself as she used her lightning enhanced speed to leap onto the back of the grimm digging her blades deep into its back and then she channelled her semblance through her blades directly into the creature stunning it. The grimm fell down to its knees.
'Now,' Naruto thought as he sprinted with all the power he could muster, and after a few moments he had reached where the behemoth knelt. Naruto leapt into the rotated and swung his fiery blade it separated the grimm's head from its body.
As its body began to dissolve Samui pulled her swords from its back and landed just after Naruto and then began heading over to check on her partner.
Erica was sitting down as she tried to catch her breath along with Shikamaru who just looked at Samui and Naruto who did not even look like they broke a sweat.
"How did I end up partnered with another troublesome red head? so unfair," Shikamaru whinged to no one in particular.
Naruto just chuckled has pulled both Erica and Shikamaru to their feet.
"Come on we have friends to catch up with," Naruto said ushering their group towards the cliffs.
A few minutes later Naruto and the others reach the cliff the were supposed rendezvous at and they saw the group they were with earlier just waiting around.
"Hey guys we are here," Naruto said with a sheepish grin.
"Naruto your late," Nora growled out.
Naruto and Ren immediately recognised that tone.
"Nora, no we are here like I said we would be,"
"Your late," Nora reiterated before she began chasing down Naruto.
"Wait, Nora Wait," Naruto was already running away from her.
Causing the group to break out into laughter as they awaited to be picked to go back to the academy.
Beacon Academy: Amphitheatre
Later on, in the evening after all of the first years had completed their initiation, Ozpin was standing in the middle of the stage calling up every who passed the initiation.
"Russell Thrush, Cardin Winchester, Doze Bronzewing and Sky Lark. The four you retrieved the black bishop pieces, from this day forward you will work together as team (CRDL) Cardinal, led by Cardin Winchester," Ozpin announced afterwards team CRDL promptly left the stage.
Ozpin signalled the next team to come on stage. Jaune, Ren Pyrrha and Nora walked up onto the stage.
"Jaune Arc, Lie Ren, Pyrrha Nikkos, Nora Valkyrie. You four retrieved the white rook pieces from this day forward you will work together as team (JNPR) Juniper, led by Jaune arc.," Ozpin finished.
Nora giggled excitedly before engulfing Ren in big hug.
In the audience Naruto ignored the slight pang of jealousy he felt and instead chose to applaud his closest friends.
"Huh," Jaune asked confused about what just heard. "L-led by," he asked once more pointing towards himself unsure.
"Congratulations young man," Ozpin informed him.
Pyrrha just sent celebratory punch in the arm towards Jaune accidently knocking him down.
"Whoops," Pyrrha said before the next team made their way on stage.
"Up next we have Blake Belladonna, Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, and Yang Xiao-Long, the four of you retrieved the white knight pieces. From this day forward you will work together as team (RWBY) Ruby, and you will be led by Ruby Rose."
"I'm so proud of you," Yang leapt over engulfing Ruby in a massive bear hug. While the audience began applauding once more.
"Lastly Erica Goodwitch, Shikamaru Nara, Samui Ironwood and Naruto Vulpez, the four of you retrieved the white bishop pieces. From this day forward you will work together and be known as team (SNSE) Sunshine, led by Naruto Vulpez."
'Thank fuck it's not me, being a team leader is too much work,' Shikamaru thought to himself as he sighed in relief.
Erica turned and smiled at Naruto, "Congratulations, I guess we'll be in your care from now."
"Yeah, I hope you will be a cool team leader," Samui said simply.
Naruto just ran his hands through his hair and smiled.
"Guessing I can't turn it down, can I?" Naruto turned to Ozpin.
"No, you cannot," Ozpin said interested to where this was going.
"Gah, fine I'll step up, and we will be the best team the fracking school has ever produced," Naruto declared.
"Hmm, are you sure about that, the strongest team in history to graduate from this academy was team STRQ and you have plenty of competition from the fourth, third, second and other first year teams," Ozpin slightly challenged.
"Doesn't matter, you want me as team leader, I am aiming for number one and I am sure my team is with me," Naruto announced with a wild.
"Being anywhere but number one is definitely not cool," Samui said stepping up.
"I don't plan on coming second to anyone," Erica said as she thought of her sister and Yang.
"Troublesome red head couldn't you declare war somewhere else and not in front of the entire student body," Shikamaru chimed in.
Naruto smirk turned malicious something three people recognised with ease.
'Oh no what is he going to do,' Ren thought as he recognised that face on his oldest male friend.
Nora was giggling full expecting Naruto to cause some kind of trouble.
'He looks just like her,' Ozpin thought as a beautiful silver eyed fox faunus flashed through his mind.
Naruto turned to face the audience and began to flare his aura as a slight orange glow began to emanate from his being.
"This is a fracking declaration of war. My team and I are heading straight to the Oum damn top and if you are in our way you better step aside or get rolled over because we ain't stopping for no one. You better believe it!" Naruto proclaimed with a wild toothy grin to the whole while flaring his aura.
This caused most of the students watching him feel some kind of weight bearing down on them, not before long Naruto receded his power and the weight disappeared, and Naruto left the stage too join the rest of his friends.
'I have partnered up with an actual monster haven't I,' Shikamaru thought as he can only remember seeing two other people in his life do that with just aura his grandmother and Pyrrha though only when she is furious.
'Was that all him,' Erica thought about the power displayed.
'That was kinda cool,' Samui thought with a slight blush adorning her cheeks as she stared at her team leaders back.
"Ren did ya hear that did ya," Nora said as she bounced up and down.
"Yes Nora, I heard same as you," Ren responded as he looked towards Naruto as he approached.
"Really, you had to do that?" Ren questioned.
The others looked towards the red head joining them, along with the rest of his team.
"What my declaration, they made me team leader so technically it's their fault."
"That's not what I meant. Between you and Nora one of you were bound to take on the entire school,"
"Oh, you mean flare my aura, I was just letting people know I got power to go the distance."
"Yeah I figured as much," Ren just sighed before smiling at his friend and offer him his fist.
"You know I always got your back," Ren said.
"I know, that's what family is for right and back at ya," Naruto responded before fist bumping Ren
"Always and forever," Nora chimed in.
Back on the stage Ozpin looked on with slight surprise dawning his features. According to his file Mr Vulpez's aura levels are off the charts and the largest of his year group but what surprised him was the control he had over it along with that quite public speech was laced with determination.
'Looks like things are shaping up to be an interesting year,' Ozpin thought to himself.
After that whole event the students were escorted to the 1st year dorm rooms.
"Looks like we are all on the same floor," Jaune spoke up as team RWBY's room was across the way and team SNSE were next door to them.
"Yup, see you guys in the morning," Yang said before everyone separated into their own rooms.
With Naruto and his team, they chose a bed and dropped their stuff off next to it.
"Ok before we all crash you as we have our first day tomorrow lets properly introduce ourselves," Naruto suggested.
"What do you mean," Samui asked.
"Erm like introduce yourself, tell us your likes, dislikes hobbies and dreams for the future, that sort of thing. Nora, Ren and I came up with this when were little," Naruto explained.
Seeing confusion Naruto opted to go first.
"My name is Naruto Vulpez, I like ramen, Nora, Ren, my princess, the smell of air after a thunderstorm and fighting. I dislike racists," Naruto paused as he unwrapped his from his waist too show his teammates that he was a faunus. "Generally cold weather, and dogs. My hobbies are working out and drawing. My dreams for the future, I guess you can figure out from my speech earlier I want to grow as strong as I possibly can," Naruto paused for a moment as Nora and Ren passed through his mind. "So, I can protect my most precious people," Naruto said with a small smile.
"Cool I think I get it now," Samui said. "My name is Samui Ironwood, I like hot showers, massages, my family, and interesting people," Samui's eyes drifted to Naruto who currently had his eyes closed as he was listening. "I dislike being bored, weaklings and spicy food. My hobbies are currently exploring new ways to use my semblance," Samui paused to show static bouncing between her fingertips. "And my dreams for the future I think it would be cool to see the world and help people along the way."
"I guess I am next," Erica said as she got comfortable. "My name is Erica Ozma Goodwitch, my likes are my friend Yang, my sister Glynda, teasing Yang's younger sister and some of our teachers from Signal. My dislikes are being compared to my sister, the trouble Yang gets us into and Seafood. My hobbies are gardening and singing. And finally, my dreams for the future are currently to fulfil a promise I made as kid," Erica finished up.
Seeing as Erica was not going to elaborate on the promise Shikamaru coughed and started to speak.
"Hi, I'm Shikamaru Nara, I like sleeping, cloud watching, my friend Pyrrha even though she can be troublesome, playing shogi and my family. My dislikes are troublesome people and situations. My hobbies involve playing shogi and reading. And finally, my dreams for the future is to have a family of my own one day."
Naruto had a smile on his face as they all took turns to introduce one another.
"See now that's done we all know each a little better." Naruto said with a grin
"Now I don't know about you guys but do you want to unpack now and go to bed late or unpack tomorrow before lessons begin and start getting ready for bed now?" Naruto asked.
The team deciding to unpack now and then shower so they can get as much sleep as possible in the morning.
The following morning Naruto was having the best dream ever it involved eating the biggest bowl of ramen possible while being fed by beautiful women, but in traditional Naruto fashion something brought his dreams crashing down. The sound of a whistle blew through the air in morning.
"Gah!" This whistle caused Naruto to awaken in a panic and fall out of bed planting on his face.
The clattering Naruto 6-foot frame was enough to awaken the rest of his team.
"When I get my hands on that person who blew that whistle, I'm gonna ring their fricking neck," Naruto grumble as he recovered from that experience.
"What is this. Does our fearless leader actually has a weakness," Shikamaru mocked before rolling over to go back to sleep.
"What do you mean, aside from the cute orange-nette who has penchant for all things pink," Erica teased as she got up to head to the bathroom.
"So not cool," Samui just shook her head at her team leader as small smile that graced her features, finding his predicament amusing.
"Piss off the lot of ya" Naruto cursed before rolling onto his back and climbing back onto his bed before he checked the time.
'Two hours until class begins with Professor Port, whoever that is,' Naruto thought.
A little later on when the whole of team SNSE they had just finished getting ready for their first official day at the academy.
"Erm Naruto where's your tie?" Erica asked their leader.
"What tie? I have no idea what you are talking about."
"Really?"
"I have no idea where that noose is," Naruto said as he had the top button undone on his shirt. His tail was swishing around which Nora and Ren could have told them it normally a sign for an irritated Naruto and currently he hated the uniform as its bland.
"I don't think the uniform is that bad," Erica said as she fiddled with the hem of her skirt from her seat.
"For you and Samui it looks great, but Shika and I."
"Its Shikamaru," He corrected in the background, but was ignored.
"We look like a pair of tools," Naruto complained.
"I think it suits you both rather well," Samui entered as she finished getting ready in the bathroom. She began walking around Naruto inspecting him.
"You scrub up quite well Naruto," Samui said as she continued inspecting him.
Erica just looked on amused by the situation as it looked like Samui was the predator in and Naruto was the prey.
Samui stopped in front Naruto walking up too him even closer.
"W-w-w-hat are you doing," Naruto questioned as he internally cursed his stutter.
"Just some finishing touches," Samui responded coolly as she noticed the hint of red on his cheeks before undoing a couple of his shirt buttons.
Shikamaru just arched an eyebrow at the scene before deciding it would be to troublesome to deal with and went back to packing his bag with material for the today's classes. He had a plan and by Oum he was going to make it work.
"Its 08.55 you dunce!" the members of team SNSE all heard as their eyes widened a number of thoughts occurred.
'Where did the time go?' Erica thought.
'Saved by the Schnee, Now I got to thank her damn,' Naruto thought.
'Dammit I was enjoying that,' Samui thought.
'My plan doesn't work if I am late on my first day that draws too much attention already,' Shikamaru thought.
After a moment they collected what they all need and sprinted out of the room. As they came to the hallway, they team RWBY already had a head start on them and JNPR was on the floor tangled up with each other. Leaping over the downed team, Naruto turned around and stuck his tongue out at them. Team SNSE began catching up to team RWBY as they were neck and neck when they passed with team JNPR not far behind.
The scene Glynda and Ozpin came upon this morning was of a group of students sprinting to class late, that was nothing new to them.
"They won't make it," Glynda said after looking at her watch.
"Care for a friendly wager, Miss Goodwitch," Ozpin offered before sipping his drink.
Thirty minutes had passed, and Naruto was bored their professor is still on his life story. As Naruto looked around the room, he spotted several other yawning faces. Shikamaru was oddly attentive, awake and making notes which surprised him. Erica was scribbling something down, but he was sure it had nothing to do with what did guys was selling. Samui seemed to be daydreaming about something.
"A true huntsman must be strategic." The Professor said.
"Well educated," he continued.
"Wise."
"And honourable," the professor said.
Naruto snorted at that one quite loudly interrupting the professor's speech.
"Mr Vulpez do you have something to add, do you disagree that a true huntsman must be honourable."
Seeing as eyes had all turned to Naruto as the teacher put him on the spot, he decided honesty was the best policy.
'Just like my grandfather taught me,' Naruto thought to himself, as he stood up.
"Honour is for soldiers and dead men, I would rather be an ignoble winner then an honourable loser," Naruto said giving an honest opinion. "Grimm don't care about honour, they don't care if you were a good person, they will still kill you if you were a bad person simple as that," Naruto said before sitting back down.
"That is an interesting belief perhaps a demonstration is necessary. Who among you believe that they are the embodiment of the traits that I have described?"
"I do sir," Weiss said as her went straight up.
"Well then let's find out, Miss Schnee and Mr Vulpez please go retrieve your combat gear and face your opponents," the professor said as he pointed to two cages being brought into the room with ominous red eyes showing that they were grimm.
Naruto narrowed his eyes at that.
"I hate cages," Naruto growled out lower enough only his teammates and a certain black heard faunus in the front row pick up on it.
After around five minutes passed and Weiss and Naruto returned. Weiss was fully kitted out while Naruto was still in his school uniform minus the blazer and with both of his axes hanging from his waist.
'This is genius, if this grimm is strong enough it can damage my uniform and I can wear my normal clothes,' Naruto thought.
"Firstly, we will have Miss Schnee and then Mr Vulpez take on the beast," the professor announced.
Naruto just nodded and hopped into Weiss's vacant seat sitting in between Yang and Ruby and rolled up the sleeves of his jumper exposing his forearms.
As professor port unlocked the cage a boarbatusk began charging at its target. Weiss veered off slightly slashing at the beast's side. As it turned around readying for another charge the professor spoke up.
"Haha I bet you were not expecting that were you."
"Hang in there Weiss," Ruby cheered from her seat.
Seeing the beast begin its charge Weiss decided to meet its charge as she glided along the floor, she got into position to riposte against the beast.
"That's not going to work, Weiss you know this," Samui said from her seat.
When grimm and blade clashed, the blade lost and was knocked away by the grimm horns, while Weiss was flung in the opposite direction.
"Oho, now what will you do without your weapon," Port asked.
Weiss saw the boarbatusks begin another charge, so she rolled out the way before running to her weapon.
"Weiss go for its belly, there is no armour underneath!" Ruby supported once again.
"Stop telling me what to do," Weiss shouted back at her team leader.
Ruby looked upset, while the Yang and Erica both narrowed their eyes at the resident ice queen. Naruto saw an upset look come across Ruby's face and frowned.
The boarbatusks began doing its patented spin and launched itself at Weiss once more.
Weiss being more prepared this time did a flourish with her blade conjuring up two glyphs'. The one in front of her blocked the grimm's charge while, Weiss leapt up to the secondary glyph and used it as platform to launch herself into the position to perform the killing blow on the grimm.
"Bravo, bravo it does appear we are in the presence of a true huntress in training," Port applauded.
"Up next Mr Vulpez please come down here," Port called up to Naruto who patted Ruby on the shoulder as he got up and offered her a friendly smile.
"Alrighty time to show you how its done snow queen," Naruto said as he passed her.
Only for Weiss to turn her nose up at him.
'As if some ruffian could dispatch grimm faster than me,' She thought to herself as she made her way out of the battle zone.
Both team RWBY, SNSE, Ren, and Nora cheered him on, as he stepped up. Professor Port then unlocked the cage, and a Riot class grimm came bursting.
'Probably pissed from being locked in a cage,' Naruto thought.
"Now ain't you just full of piss and vinegar, you wanna rumble lets go," Naruto taunted as the grimm launched itself at him.
Naruto's eyes widened at the speed of the grimm.
"Oh shit," Naruto said as he fell backwards onto the floor to allowing the grimm to pass him. From there Naruto kipped up unhooking both of his axes from his belt and taking up a stance.
"I bet you thought it was going to be the same creature as before," Port chimed in from the background.
Naruto ignored the professor to focus on the riot in front of him. The grimm charged in swinging with its claws wildly.
'Left, right, lunge, tail whip lunge again,' Naruto thought as he was dodging appropriately to avoid getting hit.
"What will you do now?" Professor Port questioned.
Having enough of dodging Naruto decided to act as he figured he got the beasts timing down.
The riot swung both of its claws at its target, trying to disembowel it.
Naruto swung both of his axes with precision, effectively trapping the grimm's wrists between the handles and base of the axe heads. The grimm snarled trying to lunge forward and bite its targets face off. Naruto responded by rearing his head back just out of reach from the grimm's maw, and then smashed his forehead into the riot's snout with a sickening crack. The riots head snapped back and Naruto took advantage by removing the axes from there current position and hopping up slightly and swinging his blades in a quick flourish decapitating the beast at the base of its neck.
The class was silent as Naruto clipped his axes back onto his belt and headed back to his desk.
"Damn foxy that was impressive," Yang commented as she ogled Naruto as he walked by.
"It's a gift," Naruto said with a smirk before reaching his seat.
"That is all we have time for today, be sure to cover the assigned readings, they will a list up on the academies portal for which you will receive your logins later on today," Port said just before dismissing the class.
Weiss stormed out of class quickly followed by Ruby.
The rest of the class began to file out as well Naruto turned to the rest of his team.
"I'm got something to take care, I meet you guys outside next period," Naruto said as he walked after his fellow team leader.
A little while after following his nose Naruto heard "Ozpin made a mistake," from Weiss's voice as he turned the corner, he found Ruby on the verge of tears.
"Hey there, Lil Red. How are you doing," Naruto said before Ruby turned away trying to hide the fact that she was almost crying.
Naruto's eyes softened at the sight, so he just wrapped an arm around her and began to lead her to where her team was maybe they could help. The duo didn't get very far as the bumped into Professor Ozpin.
"Hmm, now that did not seem to go very well," Ozpin stated.
Ruby looked up at the headmaster while Naruto narrowed his eyes at the man.
"Is she right did you make a mistake," Ruby asked.
"That remains to be seen," Ozpin responded.
"I mean it has only been one day Lil' Red, you will get plenty of chances to prove yourself."
"Exactly, I have made more mistakes than any man, woman or child on the planet, but at this moment I would not consider your appointment as leader one of them. Do you?" Ozpin said.
"Being a team leader isn't just a title you carry into battle, but a badge both of you wear constantly. If you are not always performing at your actual best, then what reason do you give others to follow you?" Ozpin continued.
"You have both been burdened with a daunting responsibility, Ruby, Naruto. I advise you both take some time to think about how you will uphold it."
"Right," Ruby said feeling inspired before rushing off to her next class.
Naruto left to follow her but a question from Ozpin halted him.
"Mr Vulpez, you wouldn't happen to have any relationship to a Miss Kushina Uzumaki would you?" Ozpin asked hoping to gauge the young man's response.
Naruto tensed on the spot for a brief moment before relaxing.
"I have no idea who that is professor," Naruto responded coolly before walking off.
Ozpin said nothing just watching the back of the student as he walked away, curious to why he would lie like that.
As Naruto caught up with his team, he noticed that Cardin Winchester and his team were hanging around. As he got closer, he began to pick up on the conversation.
"Say hot stuff, why don't ditch this nerd and come hang with a real man," Cardin said indicating at himself while he leered at Samui, who look not impressed at all.
Samui just blanked him and continued talking to Shikamaru, and Erica.
"Everything alright guys, sorry I kept you waiting," Naruto said as he came up to his team.
Samui smiled linking arms with Naruto, hoping Cardin would get the message and disappear.
"S-S-Samui," Naruto stuttered as he felt her chest against his arm.
Cardin looked incensed.
"Really I didn't take you for the type to rut with animals," Cardin sneered.
"Really you want to say that again," Naruto said as he stepped up to Cardin.
As Cardin was about to respond a teacher walked by causing Cardin to scoff and walk off trying to barge past Naruto only for it to backfire as Naruto shoved him back.
"You don't want this fight. Your nothing but a filthy animal," Cardin said.
"Oh, I think I do. Dumbass," Naruto responded as his tail swished back and forth displaying his anger.
Erica put her hand on Naruto's shoulder.
"He is just a bigoted pig just ignore him for now," Erica said.
"Tch fine," Naruto agreed before walking off with his team to their next class, before turning around and looking straight at Cardin. "I'm going to make you apologise to Samui, soon or later that's my promise to you."
A few weeks had gone by since Ozpin, Ruby and Naruto had their little talk, and Naruto's confrontation with Cardin. The school day began with combat class for two hours with Glynda Goodwitch.
Normally this would be Naruto favourite class fighting different opponents each time currently there were six official undefeated students, Pyrrha Nikkos, Samui Ironwood, Yang Xiao- Long, Naruto Vulpez, Nora Valkyrie and Erica Goodwitch. Shikamaru would have been counted as well but he forfeited as soon as he got matched up to Pyrrha.
"I quit, I already know the outcome if we fight," Naruto remembered him saying, before walking off the platform.
Naruto frowned at the current battle going on Jaune was getting his ass handed to him by the first years resident open racist. The fight lasted a few more minutes before Professor Goodwitch ended the battle pointing out that they were fighting to tournament rules and that Jaune's aura was in the red and the official would have grounds to call the bout to a close and assume you are unable to battle.
As the bell rung signalling the end of the class and beginning of lunch. As everyone began to file out Naruto walked over to Jaune and helped him up.
"Your form is shit," Naruto commented.
Jaune just kept his head down feeling sorry for himself.
"Right now, you are on one the strongest teams out of our year group you do realise, that right? Right now, your dead weight" Naruto said.
"Don't you think I know that," Jaune whispered.
"What was that? Deadweight," Naruto said louder drawing the attention of their friends and teacher.
"I SAID DON'T YOU THINK I KNOW THAT," Jaune shouted finally losing his cool.
'Finally, some backbone,' Naruto thought.
"Well it appears to be your lucky day. Tomorrow morning and every morning until we some improvement we are going through conditioning training."
"What?" Jaune asked as a look of confusion fell across his face.
"If you want it. I'm offering you training with yours truly," Naruto said with a smile.
"Thanks for the offer but I don't want your pity, I'll get stronger on my own," Jaune said before he walked away leaving a stunned Naruto.
A little bit later in the lunch hall teams RWBY and JNPR were sitting together.
"So, there we were in the middle of the night," Nora began telling her story.
"It was day," Ren interrupted.
"We were surrounded by Ursai," Nora continued.
"They were beowolves," Ren interrupted again.
"Dozens of them."
"Two of them."
"But they were no match. And in the end, Ren, and I took them down, and made a boatload of lien selling ursa skin rugs."
"She been having this recurring dream for about a month now."
"Wow Nora, I'm hurt its only been a few weeks and I'm not included in your dreams anymore," Naruto came over followed by the rest of his team and sat down to join their friends.
Nora just stuck her tongue and reached over the table and tapped Naruto's nose.
"Boop," She said before sitting back down.
Pyrrha noticed Jaune not eating so she decided to get his attention.
"Jaune are you ok."
"Oh," Jaune jumped from his daydreaming. "Yeah! Why?"
"It's just you seem not ok," Ruby chimed in.
"Look seriously guys I'm fine ok," Jaune responded with a nervous chuckle at the end.
"Jaune, Cardin and his cronies have been picking on you, since the first week of school,"
Pyrrha stated.
"What, Cardin Winchester. He just likes to mess around you know, pranks."
"Hey! Nora and Naruto shouted from the other end of the table.
"We do pranks, what he does to you is torment," Naruto defended while he was pointing between him and Nora.
"He is a bully," Ruby reinforced.
"Oh please, name one time he so called bullied me," Jaune attempted to laugh it off.
"When he knocked your books out your grip in hall," Pyrrha reminded
"When he activated your shield and got you stuck in the doorway," Ren stepped in.
'I actually found one kinda funny,' Naruto thought to himself.
"Or when he stuffed you in a rocket propelled locker and launched outside," Ruby finished with.
"I didn't land to far from the school," Jaune defended once again.
"Jaune, you know if you ever need help, you can just ask," Pyrrha reasoned.
"Yeah Jaune, its ok to accept help, every now and then," Naruto chimed in.
"OH! We'll break his legs," Nora chimed in.
"Guys really its fine," Jaune said again. "Besides it's not like he only a jerk to me, he is a jerk to everyone."
"Oww that hurts," another rang out, attracting the other student's attention.
Cardin and his team pulling on a rabbit faunus's ear, while mocking her.
"He thinks picking on students makes him cool when it has the opposite effect," Samui spoke up.
"Atrocious, I can't stand people like him."
Naruto looked around and saw everyone commenting on it but no one doing a damn thing.
Nora and Erica looked at Naruto in concern.
"Naruto, calm down," Ren said as he saw Naruto's cutlery warp from the pressure, he is putting it under. The other members of their friendship group looked on with widened eyes as aura began leaking off of Naruto's skin.
'It's like with Yang's hair,' Ruby thought.
Shikamaru looked around and saw some teachers around doing nothing to stop what Cardin was doing.
Naruto emptied his trey onto the table and marched over to the four bullies with trey in hand.
"Hey! Asshats," Naruto called out getting team CDNL's attention along with rest of the lunch hall.
Cardin let go to turn his attention on the new arrival.
"What freak," He demanded while staring at Naruto.
"Punkbitchsaywhatnow,"
"Wha," Cardin managed to say before Naruto struck him upside the head with the metal trey.
Cardin dropped like a sack of potatoes, before Naruto turned to the rest of his team.
"Go on make a move, I DARE YA THE NEXT ONE OF YOU TO TRY SOMETHING I AM GONNA TAKE THIS TREY AND SHOVE UP YOUR ARSE," Naruto raged as his aura began to seep through and pour off of his skin.
Seeing as the rest of his team had frozen in fear Naruto turned to the rabbit faunus with a smile.
"Are you ok?" Naruto asked as he began to calm down.
Before she could respond Naruto heard Cardin groaning beneath him, Naruto turned, and gut kicked Cardin while he was down. After Naruto heard an oof from Cardin he turned back to the rabbit faunus.
"I am now. Thank you," the young woman responded.
Naruto looked around and noticed the stares from everyone in the lunch hall.
"Well I no longer feel welcome, wanna ditch this place and get some decent food," Naruto offered.
The rabbit faunus just nodded the duo just left the cafeteria. The two faunus leaving a stunned silence in their wake.
