Selene vs Metagross
Selene took a heavy sigh of relief as she cleared the ridge above konikoni city, wiping the sweat off her brow with her hand. As usual, it was another hot and humid day in alola. However, she quickly noticed something was definitely off. Instead of the hustle and bustle of the city there was nothing but an ominous quiet. Cautious but not deterred, Selene proceeded down the ridge and into the town.
A strangely cold breeze blew through the streets, despite the otherwise excruciating midsummer heat, and it chilled Selene to the bone. Though frightened and alert, Selene resolved to get to the bottom of this. "I'm the hero who took down team skull" she told herself, "It's my responsibility to look out for the people of this town, even if it means putting myself at risk." As she progressed further into the town she was met with a grisly sight. A pile of corpses rotting in broad daylight, brutally misshapen and covered in fresh blood. Shattered bones protruded out of the bodies at many angles, the clothes were torn to shreds, and organs were pounded into pulp. The color instantly drained out of selene's skin, making her normally vibrant and lively skin look as pale as a ghost. For a few seconds, she simply stared at all of the bodies, shocked at the unimaginable suffering these people experienced in their last moments. However, she managed to collect her resolve, and swore to herself "I can't let this happen to anyone else."
As selene approached the town square, her ear finally caught an ominous metallic groaning. The noise was something otherworldly and far beyond our time yet ancient, like the drowned out final lamentations of a long dead advanced civilization. Around the corner the culprit loomed before selene: metagross. Its immense bulk made the pile of fresh corpses next to it look like dolls. Both sunlight and fresh blood glistened off its shiny cobalt exterior. As selene stepped out into the center of the square, Metagross and selene's eyes locked, knowing that a fierce battle would ensue.
Selene shouted "let's go primarina!" as she tossed out her first ball. While she would have preferred to lead with her incinceroar, she knew full well that metagross' clear body ability would prevent Incineroar's intimidate and that incineroar's abysmal speed tier could easily lead it to being instantly killed by Metagross' earthquake.
Selene figured that fishing for a scald burn against metagross would be a way to end the battle quickly, and ordered primarina to fire one off. The searing hot water failed to ignite metagross however, only leaving a burn mark on its armor. Metagross took advantage of the opportunity to use agility. The hulking metal monster was now a blur, and before selene or primarina could react it had already made its way to them. Mega evolving and unleashing its fearsome thunder punch, metagross fried primarina instantly, sending its charred body back to its pokeball.
Selene cried out in anguish, and in tears sent out decidueye. Knowing that metagross was now faster, selene ordered decidueye to use it's supereffective stab shadow sneak. Cloaked in darkness, decidueye phased out of reality and appeared next to metagross to strike a powerful blow with its talons. While the impact rattled metagross it rapidly recollected itself, by virtue of its disgusting 150 defense stat. The moment metagross pulled itself together, it was instantly upon decidueye, freezing the unfortunate owl mid flight with its thunder punch.
Selene was devasted. In a matter of seconds, she had lost two of her fully evolved pokemon to metagross' fearsome bolt-beam coverage moves. She grabbed onto her last pokeball, knowing it was her only chance. However, she could not bring herself to throw it. Her body was shaking in fear. Her mind was flooded with the sudden loss of two of her beloved traveling companions and friends. Two of the partners she had conquered the elite four and alola league with fell at the feet of a single pokemon. Those seconds of hesitation would cost her dearly.
Metagross charged up to selene and smashed her right thigh with its signature meteor mash. Selene's leg buckled inwards, shattered like glass and stained purple with horrible internal bleeding. Before she could even process what was happening, another meteor mash connected with her side, causing her body to convulse and writhe in pain. Selene let loose a high pitched scream, but there was nobody around to hear it. Pain coursed like wildfire through selene's entire body, and the shock of the impact froze her in place, doomed to be nothing but a plaything for metagross.
Metagross' fearsome assault only got more and more brutal as the attack raises from meteor mashes began to accumulate. Selene's legs crumbled under her and she collapsed to the ground. Metagross' heavy, hammer like arms crashed again and again into selene's chest and stomach. She fought with every ounce of her being to move her body, to resist, to fight back but every powerful swing would force her back to the ground and knock the wind out of her already blood-filled lungs. Selene's lithe and flexible body was simply not built to take constant pummeling from a monster like metagross. Every single hit made her body lurch like a ragdoll. Selene's ribs buckled, fractured, and finally crumbled under the neverending punishment. In the corner of her eye, selene noticed the crimson red blood seeping out of the wounds on her abdomen and pooling under her. Her body writhed in agony as metagross struck her again and again, each strike stronger than the last. Every time metagross brought his arms down on selene's broken body, her naïve hopes of a bright future and long life became more and more of a pipe dream.
Gasping for air, selene made a last ditch effort. She fought through the excruciating pain to slide her battered body out of the path of a meteor mash, and with what little strength she had left, managed to reach her pokeball and throw it, before collapsing to the ground again, clutching her ravaged torso in pain.
Inside the pokeball was selene's last hope, incineroar. With its fantastic doubly advantaged type matchup, incineroar was the only chance of defeating metagross. Because Selene had paid the ultimate price, she was able to successfully proc incineroar's crippling intimidate on metagross, who no longer had clear body due to mega evolving. "Please incineroar! I'm counting on you more than ever!" wailed selene, unable to stand or even move her body off its crumpled position on the ground.
However, it was to no avail. Thanks to the grossly inflated attack from repeated uses of meteor mash, metagross instantly blew incineroar to pieces with another thunder punch, splattering red mist around the town square. Horrified, Selene made one last attempt to scream for help, but it was hopeless. Her body had sustained too much abuse, and nothing came out of her mouth but a faint gasp. As metagross once again turned to face her, more of selene's bones began to crumble as a result of the accumulated punishment. Her heart, too weak to sustain her broken body, was finally beginning to slow down to a halt. She realized her journey would end here. It was over.
