Chapter 5: Diaz & Epstein

"Dude, Guess who I saw get at of a big silver truck this morning?" Dov asks excitedly.

"Uh… Swarek?" Chris asks innocently.

"Well… Yeah… him and a lovely brunette we all know and love…"

"Oh? Who…?"

"Andy. Dumb dumb." Dov is shocked, Chris couldn't put that puzzle together.

"Well… That's nice of him to pick her up. She knows I would if she would ask…"

"Chris. I gotta feelin that this was not just a ride in to work… I'm gonna text Trace."

Dov starts texting while Chris continues to drive them around… they just passed High park.

Dov – "Hey trace, you know anything about Andy NOT walking to work this morning?"

Traci – "You saw her too? Excellent! Gail just told me... I'm going to have to text her and get it out of her. I need details!"

Dov – "Gail saw them? Hmm… I didn't see her and I was waiting right by the door. Weird. Let me know when you know something."

Traci – "Will do."

Chris and Dov respond to six calls. A robbery, B & E, stolen car, public nudity, vandalism, and shots fired that turned out to be fireworks. They were just getting ready for lunch when Dov felt his pocket vibrate with Traci's new found scoop.

Traci – "Dov! Andy said, "It was just a ride to work… he knows I walk everywhere. Just being thoughtful"… I told her he is not so thoughtful with everyone else and she said I should shut up."

Dov – "Oh… just a ride? Ha."

Traci – "Ewww Dov. Gail just made gagging sounds. Andy did say last night at The Black Penny that her and Sam were friends… I mean… I guess it IS possible this is innocent."

Dov – "Ha. Even Chris won't believe that…"

Dov sends a text to Andy just to be funny.

Dov – "Rock N Roll McNally."

Andy – "What are you talking about Dov?"

Dov – "Just a ride huh? Sure….. Rock N Roll!"

Andy – "Oh my gosh, did all of you see me get out of the truck? Jeez maybe you all should stop lurking in parking lots! Nothing. Happened. He picked me up and brought me to work. Jeez."

Dov – "Okay, I wasn't lurking… I was waiting for someone. If it is so innocent why are you so defensive, hey?"

Andy – "I think this conversation is over. You ride with Chris everyday to work, Something to share there? YOU will be buying my beer tonight to apologize for you are Traci harassing me today. "

Dov – " Okay… Chris and I? Really we live together. I mean I guess you are on Swarek's way… Maybe I'll pretend you are innocent. 1 beer tops… Sorry for caring about YOU!"

Andy – "Dov. It is innocent. Look, I know you care. Just…I've had enough… leave it alone."

Dov goes through all the texts with Chris

"Maybe it all is innocent Dov and now you just made her upset with us because she knows we are riding together and Trace and Gail cause she knows they are together."

"She's not upset Chris… embarrassed maybe…. Guilty maybe… but not upset."

"Why would she be embarrassed or guilty?"

"Well I'm leaning towards Guilty. And maybe cause she might be sleeping with her TO?"

"Dov. Don't say that… even if it is true, we cannot start that… she could get fired."

" Okay… come on lets get lunch before…"

Dispatch: "1505 we have a report of an EDP touching people with sock puppets at 1659 Spadina."

"10- 4 Dispatch. Mark us en route."

"Well… this should make an interesting story over beers tonight." – And off they went.
