Chapter 8: Shaw & Swarek

Two days later Sam was surprised he was riding with Ollie and not McNally but Best had explained he needed two senior officers to go pick up a pretty tough criminal. A guy who Sam read in his rap sheet had raped 3 young, beautiful, brunette women who all looked a lot like his rookie. So Sam was actually feeling pretty thankful that she was nice and safe far away from this pervert. She was at the barn doing desk work.

On the way to get this sicko Ollie started grilling Sam.

"So…. Brother… you and McNally dating yet?"

"What? I'm her TO… No. We are not dating Ollie."

"Oh… so just sleepin' together then?"

Sam swerved a little. "What? No! Where are you getting this from Oliver?"

"Sammy Sammy Sammy…. You forget… I know you. You like her and she likes you. She's single and you're single… It's bound to happen."

"Obviously you do not know me well enough if you think I would endanger her job or mine like that." Sam was actually getting angry at Oliver because he wondered how he had guessed that he did want to sleep with her and date her and maybe some other stuff too.

"That's not what I meant Sam. Calm down."

"Okay…" Sam didn't want to be angry with Ollie.

"Well… how do you feel about Miss McNally then Sammy?"

"Uh… she's gonna be a great cop!"

"Sam! That is not what I meant. Come on… you can tell me right?"

"Oliver look, I swear I am not dating her. I am not and have not had sex with her. And I don't have any plans to change any of that any time soon, if that changes I can promise to think about letting you know. Okay? Can we drop it now?"

Sam knew he was bordering the truth-lie line right now. Truthfully he was envisioning some plans of changing those facts but… he is still her TO for now.

"Okay Sammy, but when that changes. Make sure to let her know too…. Oh, and if you want everyone else to stop wondering things about the two of you maybe you should try not to stare at her in parade like you did today. Even she was distracted by you staring."

Sam thought Ollie might really be right on that one. When Best had said she and he wouldn't ride together today Sam had just stared over at McNally the rest of parade knowing he wouldn't see her the rest of the day.

"I guess that was a little much." Sam admitted.
