Chapter 10: Peck & Swarek
It's been quiet for a while and Peck keeps avoiding his look finally he breaks.
"Peck, what is going on today? Did something happen?"
"No…Sir. I'm fine."
Oh good she uses the same line as McNally.
"Fine? Yeah… I don't believe that."
"Do relationships between cops ever work out?"
Sam frowns. He's not sure if she is talking about her or him.
"Uh. I've seen it work a few times. Why?"
"Well… It's just something my mother said…"
"Yeah, what did she say?"
"She told me not to waste my time with Chris because he isn't going anywhere."
"Well two things there Peck. You guys are still Rooks you can go anywhere still. And two, your mother is never going to see what you see in Diaz because she doesn't know him. That's on you and your choices. Don't let anyone, especially a white shirt dictate your love life."
"Wow… experience much?"
"Not exactly. Just don't like when people get in relationship stuff. Oh and maybe you should have this conversation with Diaz. Secrets have a way of coming out."
"Thank you. You're right you know, secrets do have a way of coming out."
He glances at her… okay now that was about him.
"What are you saying?"
"Maybe it's not what I'm saying and something you should be saying to someone else."
"Peck, just because I listened doesn't mean I want advice."
"Noted sir. Just… she won't wait forever, she is human too."
"Yeah…"
