Savannah felt like a moron for running away yet again, but Han was getting too close, he was able to see sides of her that she never showed, sides of her that she hid. It wasn't fear of getting hurt, she had come to terms with pain a long time ago that living meant that she would have to suffer pain in some way shape or form. No, she ran because this wasn't forever it was only for a year. She ran because she couldn't face anyone getting hurt again. She came to a stop outside of a bar, she wasn't a massive drinker and would only drink with friends or in moderation, she had witnessed what alcohol could do to someone first hand but she felt that the situation she was in warranted a drink of something strong just to help her calm herself, just to help her get over what had just happened. So, she went inside to took a seat at the bar and ordered her drink. Other than herself, the barman and a small group of four men the bar was empty, the perfect place to sift through her thoughts and get a handle on things. Savannah glanced around and took a good look at the four men who were seated a couple of stools down from her. She thought she recognised one of them but put it down to her mind playing tricks on her because she was stressed.
She nursed her drink when her phone buzzed in her back pocket, with a groan she pulled it out and read the text, she wasn't surprised to see that the message was from Kayleigh.
'Jerk move running, away like that. But he gets it and so do I. I hope you're okay, you know where I am if you wanna talk. Love you. K. XX'
Savannah didn't bother to text back she just groaned again as she planted her head onto the bar, she had no idea what she was going to do. Everyone kept telling her to have fun and relax but if she did that then she wouldn't complete the task that she had given herself. If she had listened to that advice growing up, she wouldn't have earned the money to set up her own garage, she wouldn't have done what she needed to do to escape her rotten home life. With past thoughts clouding her mind she knocked back the drink she had been nursing and ordered another with the instruction the barman kept them coming...
Kayleigh knew Savannah needed her space but when she arrived back at their shared apartment and there was no sign of her she began to worry. It was late and there had been no word from Savannah for hours. She decided to try Savannah's mobile again it rang a few times before it once again went to voicemail. So, she text Marcus, she was able to make it sound non important and that she wasn't worried just wondering where her best friend had gotten too, as she wanted to go out and needed her translator, the joke threw Marcus off the sent that she was in fact worried.
'Spoke to her earlier about the dad issue, nothing since. Maybe she's out with the car guys, you know what she is like when cars are involved.'
Kayleigh tried her friend's phone again, but still no answer. She didn't want to worry anyone; she knew that Savannah would go off alone sometimes to think but that was usually for a drive. She decided she was going to try one more phone call before she rang Han and the other's when a text came through.
'I'm fine, just need some space, I'll see you in morning'
Kayleigh read the message over a few times, there wasn't anything out of the ordinary, it just seemed her friend needed some time alone to get her head together. Which of course she respected so she gave a her a simple message to say she was thinking of her and once again if she wanted to talk then she could always come to her and left it at that going to bed. As she laid in bed, she couldn't help but feel a little guilty, she felt like she was abandoning her best friend to deal with things alone, so she got up made herself comfy on the couch and waited for Savannah to come home so they could talk. Kayleigh didn't remember falling asleep, and she only a woke because of the alarm on her phone. She glanced around seeing that Savannah's bedroom door was still open and her bed hadn't been slept in, and nothing in the apartment had been moved since she had settled on the couch was when worry flooded through her, she changed quicker than she had ever before and rushed to the garage. As she once again tried Savannah's phone but it went straight to voicemail which meant it had been turned off. As she raced through the streets to get to the garage, she rang Han, she knew he wouldn't be up yet but she prayed that he would answer.
"Hello?" Han's groggy voice answered after the sixth ring and Kayleigh knew she had just woken him up.
"Have you heard from Savvy?" Kayleigh asked not bothering to hide the panic in her voice.
"Not since she ran off yesterday why?" He asked snapping out of the early morning grogginess.
"I'm on my way to you, get everyone together." Kayleigh ordered and she hung up.
When she arrived, Han had done as he was told and everyone was waiting for her, she burst into the garage completely out of breath and she tried to tell them what has happened. But her words were coming out in a jumbled mess as if she was racing against an imaginary clock. Neela came to Kayleigh's side with a glass of water and handed it to her.
"Take a sip and slow down." She said as she guided her to the group of couches forcing her to sit down, Kayleigh took Neela's advice took a couple of deep breaths to steady herself and told them what had happened.
