"I will never love someone as horrible as you!" Sarah bellowed. She was afraid but she knew she couldn't show it.
She regretted what she had done, but this is what she had always wanted, right? To not have a stupid little brother. But yet she wanted nothing to do with the Goblin King himself.
She quickly turned away, but Jareth grabbed her shoulder and spun her back around.
"Sarah, I have done nothing but be generous. I have done nothing but do as you asked. Please, give me a chance, give us a chance."
"Never!" Sarah shouted, looking up at him with fire in her eyes.
Jareth took a step back, shocked at her behavior. He thought if he made her wishes come true, she would love him. And he could finally be happy.
"Do you really think I could ever be happy with the likes of you?" Sarah sneered. She gritted her teeth.
"Sarah, please. I thought after all I have done for you, we could be together. We could be happy. We can rule together as one! And have a family together! I thought this was part of our agreement." Jareth tried his best to reason with her but to no avail.
Sarah shook her head and turned back around. This time Jareth did nothing to stop her as he watched her walk away.
A tear slid down his cheek. He reached out for her. He felt his heart break into millions of pieces. He stumbled and gripped his chest where his heart was.
"Sarah..." he whispered. "No..."
He felt like he had lost a piece of himself. He thought he finally had what he was looking for for all his miserable life. A love, a beautiful love.
"Maybe she will come around, maybe she will finally love me. But, who could ever love someone like me?" He mumbled as he walked over to the well next to him. He looked down inside at the glistening water. He sighed and looked away.
"She could never love someone like me, I'm hideous. I'm nothing" His grip on his chest tightened as another tear fell from his cheek. He looked down at his feet, unable to handle his grief.
He stood by the well silently sobbing.
