Jareth walked down the hall of his castle. He felt different, this was something he had never felt in his entire immortal life.

Love.

He had never felt love for any of his subjects or slaves before. This girl. She was different.

She was absolutely mesmerizing beyond belief. She knew how to carry herself. She was, in fact, very suitable to be his Queen. But she deserved more than that. So much more...

She stopped in front of a painting of himself. He tilted his head slightly to the right, admiring it.

Oh, if only she was in it. Sitting on his knee with a crown on her head. With a gown only regal enough for a girl like her.

He touched the frame of the artwork and his hand slid down.

He wanted her, he needed her. And now he had her. He couldn't ever let her go.

He stepped away from the wall and continued on down the hall. He passed multiple giggling goblins that greeted him with upmost sincerity. He glared down at them. He hated being king of such silly and stupid creatures, but what else could he do? They needed him.

He came to his bedroom door. He turned the knob and entered. He let out a sigh and walked towards his bed. He sat down and swung his legs over so he could lay down. He closed his eyes and drifted off.

Chapter 8

He felt himself falling slowly in a mystical world. He was surrounded by glitter and crystals.

He landed carefully on the ground.

'Where am I?' He thought. 'Is this my land?'

He turned around to his left, then to his right searching for any clue as to where he was.

He saw a shape in the distance. Was that Sarah?

"Sarah! My love! What are you doing here?"

She didn't answer, let alone even turn to look at him.

Puzzled he took several steps towards her. Her head darted his way. He took a step back, scared of what just happened.

"You!" She sneered. "Who do you think oh are?"

"W-what? Precious, what do you mean?"

"Don't you DARE call me that!" She snapped.

"Sarah, what do you mean?"

"Do you really think I of all people could ever love you?" She said, ignoring his question completely.

"W-what? Precious, how could you say that? I thought-"

"I SAID, don't call me that!" She shrieked.

Jareth didn't know what to do or what to think. He legs felt like rubber, he felt like he could collapse at any moment.

"Please, Sarah, think about what you are saying. Don't you realize it is very hurtful?"

"I don't CARE! I don't love you, and I never will!"

Jareth's heart sank and he trembled. He felt tears welling up in his eyes. He knew he couldn't show her how he felt. She would laugh at him.

"Awe, you're shaking! Good!" She spat, "I hope you will always remember this, I don't love you, I never will. You're horrible and ugly! No one will ever love you! Not I, not anyone!"
