(Hey wake up!) Ally was shaking Ulysses and whispering quite loud.
He just groaned, turned and pushed her arms away. "Come on it's still night time, just go back to sleep."
She was beginning to feel frustrated after a couple failed attempts to wake him up, so she turned him and slapped him. (Just wake up damn it!)
"Huh? What?! What's going on?! What was that for?!"
(I'm sorry but you wouldn't wake up, I woke up sensing another aura nearby and it seems... angry.)
"Oh I forgot you can do that. Is it moving?" He said while getting up and being cautious, he got into a fighting stance.
(Uh yeah it's kinda my thing, you know, aura pokemon? And no, it's not moving, it's just standing, like it's watching us, this aura seems very powerful.) Ally was getting nervous and Ulysses was noticing it.
"Ok, get ready to wake up the others, we'll need a quick escape or a good chance at fighting this thing. I may not be strong yet but I'll do anything to protect all of you." She smiled and nodded while going to wake up Amber first.
(Alright, after we wake them up we'll get rea-) Ally suddenly froze and was looking scared.
"What? What's wrong? Ally?!" He was also getting nervous.
(It's... It's gone..)
"What do you mean?"
(I don't sense it anymore, whatever it was, it was insanely fast, like it vanished into thin air.) She stood up again.
"We can't be sure, let's just stand for a bit just in case it comes back, I don't want to take any chances."
They then stood for a good couple of minutes. Everything was quiet, wind was blowing and leaves are flying past.
(I don't think that thing is coming back master.) She calmed down a bit
"Ok, but just in case I'll stay up for the rest of the night and don't worry, I'll wake you guys up if I'm in trouble." He said reassuring Ally.
(Are you sure? Aren't you still tired?)
"I'm fine, besides it's almost morning. Oh yeah, one other thing, we can't tell the others about this, they'll start to worry a lot saying that we could've been badly hurt or something. That thing may or may not come back, but until then we have to keep our mouths shut. I want us all to be happy so we can build our new home in peace."
(Oh ok, well good night then.) She said while closing her eyes and fell asleep. She knew he was just trying to protect them.
Another hour or 2 passed, the sun was rising and Ulysses was starting to question it.
"Hm.. What could it have been? I've seen some pokémon in this forest and I doubt any of them are fast enough to make Ally scared. Not to mention it seemed very angry. But what could it be angry about? Our fire? Territory? It could hate everyone in general but it would've attacked. It's like it's plotting something. Whatever that thing was, it seemed smart and smart beings are dangerous. I'd better watch our backs from here on out..."
Dante was beginning to open his eyes and stretched from his meditative state, (You say something Ulysses? You're up early.)
"Nah, I'm just mumbling to myself, and I wanted to catch the sunrise." He said trying to make up a lie.
(Uh ok then.) Dante chuckled.
"You ready to build our new home?"
(Yeah let's wake up the others so we can start.)
They walked over to the sleeping pokémon and began to wake up each of them.
"Hey Amber, wake up." Ulysses whispered and was shaking her lightly.
She began to wake up and yawned.
(Is it morning already? I kinda wanted to sleep more.) She said jokingly.
"Yeah yeah just go wake up Ally." He said knowing she was just kidding.
After they woke up everyone, they all gathered.
"All right, before Dante and me begin the build, I want us all to atleast eat something for breakfast. So I think that I should go out and look for some berries for all of us, and I think Ally should go with me and Dante stay here with the others."
(Or we can go look for the berries and you and Ally can stay here, something seems to be bothering you and I can tell you want to talk alone with her, besides we're pokemon, we're probably faster than you.) Dante chuckled a bit.
(Oh is something bothering you master? Is there anything we can do?) Amber looked worried.
(Yeah you can talk with us to you know.) Eevee said looking a bit jealous.
"I know I can but this time it's only with her, I'm sorry but I can only talk about this with Ally, you guys should hurry so we don't waste any time."
(Oh, ok then - well, we'll see you later, I guess.) Amber said while she and eevee were looking a bit down.
(Ok lets go you two, the sooner we get back the sooner we can start.) Dante said while trying to cheer up the two.
They walked off in search of the berries. Ulysses and Ally sat down in front of each other and began discussing what happened.
"Did you happen to sense how big this thing was? We might be able to tell what it is by its height."
(Well from what I sensed, it was shrouded in anger, but if I had to say probably around as tall as Dante.)
"Ok so we can rule out a pangoro and basically any bug type, hm. Maybe another lucario?"
(No I could tell if it was, besides lucario are shorter.) This really started to bother the two.
(Hm? Did you say something?)Ally asked Ulysses.
"Uh no why? Did you hear something?"
(It sounded like an echo. That was wierd.)
-- Worry not. --
Ally stood up and soon realized it was telepathy and began talking back.
-- Who are you? And what do you want from us? --
The voice talked back.
-- Be patient. --
-- What do you want, and why are you scaring us? --
Ally talked back while scared.
-- I'll free you and your friends from that pesky human. -- The connection broke.
-- Wait we dont need to be freed! --
Ally responded but it was too late.
"Uh Ally? What are you doing?"
(Oh uh, I think you might be in trouble.) Ally said with a worried look.
"And why would that be?"
(Well I think this thing assumes you are keeping us against our will...)
"Seriously? But I'm not keeping you against your will. You're welcome to do whatever you want, I won't judge or get mad!"
(I know, I know but you have to be ready for this, when that thing shows you might have to fight it or talk with it, but I doubt talking will work.)
"Well did you get any more information about what it might be?"
(It sounded female and since it used telepathy, it was most likely a psychic type pokémon but thats about all I got from that.)
"I'd rather not fight it but if I have to, I will." Ulysses said while standing up and petting Ally's head.
Dante and the other's finished with their berry picking and headed back.
(Did you two get to talk?) Dante said wondering.
"Yeah don't worry, everything's ok, right Ally?"
She nodded. (Yup.)
The others nodded and smiled in response.
"All right, well let's eat! Then we can get to building!"
(Yeah!) Everyone replied excitingly.
They all sat down to eat the berries which consisted mostly of oran berries. After awhile they finished their food and began building. Dante used his psychic power to put up the pieces where they should be, which made building alot easier. Eevee was handing nails to Ulysses, Dante was also using his psychic powers to put in the nails.
Amber and Ally were training with each other. In a couple of days they managed to finish thanks to Dante's powers.
"It took awhile but we're finally done!" Ulysses said sighing.
(Wow it looks amazing!) Amber said in amazement.
(It really does!) Ally replied.
(Indeed.) Dante said with crossed arms.
Eevee stared very happily.
"Well now that the cabin is done, I should probably go buy some furniture."
(Would you like one of us to accompany you?) Dante asked.
"Yeah actually, who would like to come with me?"
(If it's ok I'd like to stay, I'm kind of tired.) Eevee said.
(Yeah I am too.) Ally said sitting down.
"Amber, would you like to come with me?"
(Yeah sure!) Amber said happily.
"Dante can you stay here and watch over things?"
(You can trust me.) Dante said proudly.
"All right Amber, let's head out." Ulysses began to walk and she followed.
While they were walking for a couple of minutes, Amber broke the silence. (So what were you talking about with Ally a couple days ago?)
"Oh uh, we were talking about uh, how I wanted her to guard us while me and Dante were building. You know how wild pokemon can be, with territory and all." He lied
(Oh was that all? Ok.) She replied feeling that he was lying.
After about an hour or 2 they came up on the city of Lumiose. "Hey is it all right if we make a quick stop?"
(Sure, but where would you want to go?)
"I just want to check in on my parents, I haven't seen them in awhile."
(Oh cool, yeah sure I would love to meet them!)
"My old home shouldn't be that far, let's go."
She nodded in agreement. After a few minutes of walking they came up on a tall building.
(Woah! You live here?!) Amber said in amazement.
"Well, I live on the top floor. Come on, we should go inside."
(This is so cool!)
Ulysses and Amber walked into the building and entered an elevator. He pressed the top number and put his thumb on a scanner looking thing.
(What's that?)
"Oh me and my parents have this so that nobody else can get into our home up there, you see this elevator leads straight to a hallway with one door which is our place, so nobody else can get up there besides us or if we give the confirmation that a person is allowed to enter."
(Oh that's good, no stranger can just enter then?)
"That's right."
The elevator closed and began to move upwards.
(Woah.) Amber grabbed on to the bar that was attached to the side.
"You've never been in an elevator?" Ulysses chuckled.
(No I have, it's just that I don't really like it. Plus it's my first time as a braixen.)
"It'll be over before you know it, just hang in there."
When they reached the top they left the elevator and walked to the door. Ulysses took out a key that he had and inserted it in the door.
(You have a key to your old home?)
"Yeah I keep it with me so that whenever I come back, I can just enter."
He turned the knob, opened the door and entered.
"Mom! Dad! Are you home?" He said in a louder voice.
"Oh Ulysses is that you??" His mom said while going over to hug him.
"Yeah it's me, I just came back to see you guys!" He returned the hug.
"Oh and who is this? What a cutie!!" She began petting the braixen.
"This is one of my partners Amber, she's a braixen." He responded.
Amber was blushing at the compliment and smiling from the petting.
"Where are the others? Didn't you say you had more friends in your letter?" His mom questioned.
"They're back at my cabin, they were tired so I just let them guard while we went out. By the way, where's dad?"
"Oh he's just taking a nap, he should be up soon, would you like something to eat?" She said while walking over to the kitchen.
"Yeah that sounds great!" He followed.
"I'll make some curry so Amber can eat some to." She looked at Amber with a smile.
(That sounds good!) Amber was looking hungry already!
"I hope she said something about her being hungry." She said while cooking and looking at the braixen with a confused looked. Considering she couldn't understand her.
[oh that's right, I can understand pokemon.] Ulysses thought to himself.
"Don't worry she said she can't wait to try your curry." He said making his mom feel better.
"Oh that's good, can you go wake up your father so we can all eat?"
"Amber, can you go wake him up? I want to stay and talk with my mom for a bit. He should be down that hall to the left."
(Ok! Will do!) She said in agreement while walking to the hallway.
"Oh she's so cute!" She said with her hand on her cheek.
"Yeah she really is."
Amber walked into the hallway and saw a door to her right.
(I wonder what's in here?) Her curiosity began to get the better of her.
She opened the door and saw that it was a bedroom. It had posters of pokemon leagues, regions, and a poster of a woman in a white outfit with a gardevoir next to her with the words 'Diantha' on the top and 'The Kalos Champion' on the bottom. The room also had pokemon plush toys on the bed.
(Huh, must be his room. I'll ask him about it later.)
She exited the room and went to the room on the left. Amber opened the door slowly and saw a man sleeping on a bed.
She walked over to him and shook him trying to wake him up.
(Hey! Wake up mister!)
He just shifted over to the side. Amber on the other hand began to get annoyed after a couple of failed attempts.
(Hmm, maybe I should do to him what I did to master when he wouldn't wake up.) She giggled and took out her stick. Amber gave him one good whack on his forehead.
"Ow! What the-!?" He woke up looking angry.
Amber ran out of the room. "Hey get back here!!"
He followed her and Amber hid behind Ulysses.
His dad stopped in his tracks when he saw Ulysses. "Oh you're home."
He walked over to hug him.
"Your little pokémon hit me on my forehead and woke me up." He said while rubbing his forehead.
"Ahh she did the same thing to me when I wouldn't wake up. Dont worry, I'm sure she's sorry."
(Im sorry.) Amber replied looking sad.
"She may be cute but she can sure hit really hard." His dad began to walk over to Amber and pet her. "It's ok, I forgive you."
(Thank you mister!) She said looking happy again.
"So what's for lunch? I sure am hungry after my nap."
"We're having curry! I'm almost done making it."
"Hey dad, do you know where I can buy some furniture?" Ulysses asked.
"Hmm, there should be a furniture store nearby that should have couches, beds, tables and stuff. I think they may have refrigerators to, why do you ask? Are you perhaps looking to replace your old things?" His dad wondered.
"Uh, we had a bit of an accident a couple days ago but it's all good, no need to worry." He said with a hand behind his head.
"May I ask what happened?"
"Well, long story short it was burnt down, but it was no ones fault I swear!" Ulysses quickly said.
"Did anyone get hurt?" His mom said in a worried tone.
"No one was hurt, I promise." He reassured.
"That's good." Both of his parents said at the same time with a sigh of relief.
"Lunch is ready!" His mom said.
"It smells really good!" Ulysses was looking hungry.
(I can't wait to try some!) Amber was excited to eat.
They all ate and when they were all done, Ulysses and Amber said their goodbyes as did his parents and were off. The two kept walking until they came up to the furniture store. He bought a bed, a couch,a kitchen table, a refrigerator, as well as a couple of blankets, he gave his address and a location on a map showing where he lived to the deliverer. They left the store and were on their way back to their home.
(Hey master, can I ask you something?)
"Sure, go ahead."
(When we were at your old home, I kinda went into what I assume was your room, what was all those things that you had in there?) Amber asked
Ulysses stopped walking and stood still.
"Oh, you saw those things... Well no use in hiding it now."
Amber was looking at him curiously.
"Well... I was a pokemon trainer back then and wanted to be in a league, but so many things weren't going my way and I just gave it up."
There was a moment of silence.
(Why? You never gave up now, why did you give up back then?)
"I was only 11, I didn't know any better. After I got my starter pokémon, a froakie. It wouldn't listen to me, I just figured it would get along with me as my journey progressed, but in my battle to try and capture a fletchling, it continued to not listen to me and it ended up flying away. I got a little annoyed but I decided to overlook it. Then later after we battled our first gym and lost, I took him to a pokémon center. After he was healed of his damages, I carried him on my way out but he jumped out of my arms. He just ditched me and ran away. I ran trying to look for him but I never managed to find him. After that I gave up and went back home. Instead I just admired other trainers I saw on tv, cheering them on because I couldn't be like them."
(Oh, I'm sorry.) Amber was looking sad.
"Don't worry about it, I had to tell you at some point, besides it was like 5 years ago." He said trying to cheer her up.
It worked a bit and they continued walking.
(By the way what's a league? Is it like a beauty contest?)
"It's like a contest to see who is the best trainer."
(Who fights in these leagues?)
"Mainly trainers, I remember the last one I heard was really interesting."
(Really? Who fought in it?)
"The finals are where it was most interesting, I think it was a guy and his mega charizard versus a kid and a strange greninja. I heard it was a spectacular battle, I just wish I didn't miss it. Come to think of it, around that time I also remember a horrible event that took place, some weird people wanted to conquer the kalos region, but the two trainers put a stop to it. They were so cool. I want to be like them." He just starred blankly at the sky.
(Oh yeah, I think I remember something like that happening, there were these weird red vine like things attacking the city. I was so scared, my old trainer put me back into my pokeball.)
"It was a frightening experience, my parents took me out of the city."
(So what ever happened to the 2 trainers after?)
Amber wondered.
"Last I heard, the guy with the charizard went on to travel other regions and compete in the leagues, and the kid with the strange greninja went back to his home region."
(What was so strange about the greninja?)
"It had a form where it looked like its trainer and was really powerful, unlike mega evolution it didn't need a stone, just their bond atleast that's what the professor told me."
(That's awesome!) Amber said looking amazed.
"It really is. We should probably go and get home."
They were both about to head out when they saw a guy in a lab coat running to them.
"Wait! I need to talk with you!"
"Uh sure?" Ulysses said.
After he caught up with them and catching his breath he said," Are you Richard's son?"
"Yeah why? What do you need?"
"Oh perfect! I've been searching for you! The professor wants to talk with you!"
"The professor? I wonder what does he want to talk about?" Ulysses was getting curious.
"Just follow me back to the lab and he'll explain." The guy said.
"Yeah ok, let's go Amber."
(Sure! I'm right behind you master!)
They walked until the guy in the lab coat said they were there and walked inside the building.
