Jareth stood on the balcony of the tallest tower of his castle. He servayed all the work that was quickly being done for the wedding.

"Such little time to do things, but short notice is my kind of thing..." He trailed off. "...I think the by the well is a perfect spot to have the ceremony, don't you think, Hogbreath?"

"It's Hoggle! And I can't exactly see over the railing."

"Oh, pity..."

Jareth thought for a moment.

Where would the reception be? What should HE even wear? What would his and Sarah's future be like together?

He heard Sarah's footsteps behind him. He turned around smiling.

"What are you doing here? You're only up here when you have things to think about." Sarah asked.

"Oh, just thinking about the wedding and such. You know, hopeless romantic stuff."

Sarah laughed and walked over to his right side and hugged his arm. They looked down at the whole garden, already glorious and gorgeous, turn into a marvelous piece of art and beauty.

"I was thinking, since I chose where to have the ceremony... you could chose where the reception is."

"Well, now that you say something... how about the ballroom, where we first danced together?"

"Jareth! That's perfect!" Sarah exclaimed and hugged him around the neck. Jareth put his arms around her waist and gently hugged her.

Sarah was very excited for their wedding. She wanted to spend the rest of her life with Jareth. She paused midthought.

The rest of her life...

"Jareth, how will this even all play out?"

"What do you mean, darling?"

"Like what will happen to us after we are married? I'm not immortal like you... are..."

Jareth's heart sank right when she got those three words out.

I'm not immortal.

Sarah could see his hurt.

"You know how this will all play out, you told me that earlier. Why are you so upset, Jareth?" Sarah asked with a concerned look on her face.

"I know the pain will heal, but it is here in the moment. Eating away at my soul, draining every happy thought from my mind..." He said firmly, with a touch of melancholy in his voice.

Sarah touched his cheek with her fingertips. She didn't know what to say to comfort him.

"I hate to ask this... But what will we do about that? C-can you even turn me immortal like you?

"That's just it, Sarah. I don't think I can." Jareth let the tears spill. He knew he couldn't do anything to stop the pain and guilt.

Sarah began to cry too, "Jareth, I don't want to leave you, not here alone. Why would you do that to yourself?"

"I don't know that ether, I-I just don't know," he began to sob. Sarah hadn't seen him like this before. He has cried in front of her but not like this.

"Why would you chose a mortal girl as your bride?"

"Because no one is quite like you, Sarah. They don't have your confidence, your imagination, your courage. You're so strong and generous. And not to mention absolutely gorgeous. Where can I ever find that in someone else? Or at least at the level you have?" He said and he held her hands in his.

Sarah blushed but smiled through her tears. But she just couldn't shake the feeling that Jareth would've all alone when she was gone. What could she possibly do to help?

She had an idea. But she couldn't tell it just yet... But for now, she had to calm down her fiancé.

She nuzzled her way into his arms and started, "You have me now, please, don't stick to what's going to happen in the future. Just live by the moment, one day at a time."

Jareth hugged her tight and put his head on her shoulder. She was right. He needed to be happy while he still had her, but it was too damn hard. Why does love have to be so difficult?

"I know, Sarah. You are so correct. But it's just so hard to think positive when you know the love of your life is going to die right before your eyes. And you can't even do anything about it!" He stifled a sob.

"I wish there was someone can do, but I can't think of anything!" Sarah said exasperated.

Jareth sighed and took a deep breath. He had to let it go, he had to be strong. For Sarah, for his kingdom.

"Sarah, I can promise you, I will be fine. We will be fine. Please, don't be upset. Don't feel any remorse or guilt. It's something you can't control."

Sarah nodded, her eyes watering. She just hugged Jareth as tight as she could, and him her.
