Kensi! Open the door! I know you're here.
She had ignored his texts and calls the entire day and the detective was clueless to what he did or said to piss her that much. Normally, even if she was angry at him, she'd answer his calls and he would find a way to be forgiven. Deeks was really worried.
- Kensi I'm coming in.
The detective casted a look behind him to make sure nobody was looking at his direction then kneeled down in front of the closed door. A few seconds later, the lock gave away and he entered the strangely silent house.
Her boots had visibly been kicked away and her shirt was hanging on the back of her couch.
Shit! She has a guy over and that's why she couldn't answer my calls. Fuck, I think I'm gonna throw up. What do I do?
- Kensi I'm gonna go. I'm sorry, I didn't know you had someone over.
And to say I thought I wasn't the only one who had feelings in this partnership. How wrong I was!
His hand was on the door handle again when he heard his surprised partner from behind him.
- Deeks? What are you doing here?
Why did I even thought it'd be a good idea to come and check on her? Now I'm in this mess.
- I'm really sorry, Kens. I'm leaving, I promise. You weren't answering your phone and I thought that maybe something was wrong. I never thought it was, because you had someone with you.
And just like that, the sad and defeated look returned to his eyes. He was really hoping that she'd just accept his excuse and let him go.
The detective anxiously looked at the half-open door at the end of the corridor, waiting for her male friend to come out of her bedroom at any minute now.
Please let me go.
- What are you talking about, Deeks? And can you stop looking at the door to my bedroom. No one else is there beside you and me.
- I thought I was interrupting something between you and... a friend.
- Well you weren't.
-Obviously.
Kensi crossed her arms over her chest and looked impatient to hear what had brought him here so early in the morning.
- Why didn't you answer my texts and calls? I thought you were in danger!
- I was busy, the brunette answered quietly knowing that he wouldn't buy her lame excuse. But she couldn't tell him she had deliberately ignored his messages. And certainly not why she had been acting like that in the first place.
- Bullshit, Kensi! Why did you ignore my calls? Why are you mad at me?
-I... it's nothing, Deeks.
- Kens, please...
- Deeks, let it go. I wasn't ignoring you I just needed some space.
- Kensi...
- Deeks, can you leave now, please. I have things I wanna do.
He knew she wouldn't tell him anything. So, the detective let out a defeated sigh before stepping out her apartment.
- Okay. Bye, Kensi.
- Bye, Deeks.
Finally.
He shouldn't have come. Maybe she hadn't answered when he had texted her and tried to join her, but still her partner shouldn't have been picking her lock at 8 am to be sure she was still alive. It showed that he cared and it only messed up her conflicted feelings even more.
Yesterday, she had a date. Cute guy, great smile and he had made a laugh a couple times when they had first met outside a coffee shop. His name was Matt and he had looked slightly nervous when trying to ask her out which she had thought was cute at the time. Never did his eyes wondered, truly a gentlemen.
The brunette was looking forward to a good night in enjoyable company when she started to think about her scruffy partner.
What would he think of her going out on a date? Would he be jealous? Was he thinking of her right now?
Never before had the federal agent had thoughts like these and it destabilized her. She couldn't think like that, it was wrong. Her partner should be so far in the back of her mind right now. Only her date with Matt should matter.
But time was flying and all she could see was the sad and hurt eyes of her partner when she told him about Matt earlier today.
Turns out she hadn't been able to even get out of her apartment and instead spent the night watching stupid corny movies while ignoring her partner's calls.
No her partner shouldn't have come check on her, because now they were screwed.
