Elizabeth sat in her study going over the reports for the up and coming Phantomhive toy factory in the relatively new country America, she looked up noticing the picture on her desk of Ciel taken right before he left. Elizabeth sighed setting down her pen closing her eyes as she tried to imagine what Ciel looked like now when a knock came from the door, and she opened her eyes. "Come in!" the door opened to reveal Samantha her hands behind her back. "My lady the Germany head of Phantomhive toys is here, he is waiting for you in the Library."
"Very well then send him up here the study is much more appropriate."
"Yes my Lady." Samantha bowed to Elizabeth and left the room. Around five minutes later Samantha returned with a man who look ten years older than Elizabeth with blonde hair and dark brown eyes. He was handsome Elizabeth had to admit, but he wasn't her Ciel.
"Lady Elizabeth, a pleasure to make your acquaintance," He bowed to her, his German accent clearly showing. The lady raised an eyebrow looking the man trying to see what kind of man he was.
"Charmed I'm sure," she responded and there it was it was slight since he was bowing to her but she saw it, a smirk. Ahh so that's the kind of man his and Elizabeth's expression turned cold and the man then stood up as Elizabeth put on her stage smile. The smile she puts on in front of others like her parents and brother to assure them she's fine.
"My lady my name is Albert Bussche and might I say you look ravishing today." Elizabeth's smile turned more fake than usual not that the Lord noticed. It was clear to her that this man only saw her looks and didn't think she could run this company.
"Lord Albert so lovely to meet you please let us move to the gardens for some tea I'm sure you know how us ladies love our flowers haha. I'm sure your wife loves the gardens at your manor." Elizabeth said as she headed for the door and Albert followed as Samantha held the door open for them.
"Oh you flatter me Lady. I'm afraid I'm not married." The young woman's gaze shot to her maid/butler who in turn looked up at her as well understanding her message. Once in the hall Albert held out his arm and Elizabeth respectfully took it as they walked down the hall.
"I'm surprised Lord. You seem to be the man to have women falling at your feet." The older lord stroked her arm lightly making her want to shutter but she remained composed as they passed by a painting of Ciel.
"A shame he died so young. I'm sorry you had to lose him so soon. And before you were even married such a shame he left you behind." In response Elizabeth looked at the painting with no expression to anyone else it would look sorrow but if you looked closely you actually see her eyes held determination.
"Yes it is a shame. But everyone dies sooner or later. Since Ciel isn't here anymore, it's up to me to take over his responsibilities. It's fair, he never had an heir." Elizabeth spoke giving a bright big smile that to him said 'oh I just wanted to help out but I don't know anything'. Of course Elizabeth knew everything there was to know about the company inside and out. Before Tanaka had passed away around a year after Ciel left Elizabeth made sure Tanaka taught her everything about the company and wrote pages of pages of notes. The young woman also found all the blueprints for every single factory the company had and memorized each one. If anyone knew about the company the most it was her, she probably knew more than Ciel himself did.
The head of the German branch nodded thinking to himself that this girl didn't know a thing about running a company, and that getting money out her for the "company" was gonna be a piece of cake. Not mention maybe seducing her to becoming the head of the whole company won't be that hard either. The two reached the garden as they sat in the pale white chairs, Elizabeth's black dress very much standing out compared to all the bright colors of the flowers.
"So Lord Albert please tell me about the branch in Germany. How is it holding up?" Elizabeth questioned as she lifted her tea cup and batted her eyelashes in an innocent way not flirty. The head of the German branch straightened up making it appear like he was nervous when in reality he was only starting his plan. What he didn't know was the late phantomhive's fiancé had her own plan up her sleeve.
"Oh my lady the funds there have been going really low. The German children just don't seem to want our toys anymore. We are in desperate need of more money to keep our branch a float," as the Lord said this he kept inching his chair closer to hers as Elizabeth kept a straight face listening to him. Eventually he got close enough to where he placed a hand on her knee. "I understand it must be lonely for you here in this manor all alone. Forgive for saying but it seems like you need more company Lady," his hand climbed higher as he leaned into her, Elizabeth didn't make a move, "I can give you that company my Lady and-" Elizabeth cut him off becoming the real Elizabeth she was now.
"Oh really? You? You can give me company?" With in a flash Albert was ripped away from the young woman and to the other side of the gardens being held by Samantha.
"Hey what's going on?! Let me go!" Elizabeth slowly stood a death stare on her face as she stared at the handsome face.
"Low funds you say. Well sir I'll have you know I looked into the funds in every one of the factories and the German one is over funded but the workers wouldn't know that because you have been taking out all that money for yourself. Stashing it in the vault no one knows about under the factory in the tunnels." The German's eyes grew widen with shock and fear on how Elizabeth knew that.
"How did you-"
"I made it my job to memorize every blueprint for each of my factories and I make sure to check in with a few workers to find out what's happening. You're secretary the one you have been inappropriately hitting on told me all I needed to know and in fact she will be taking your job, as you are fired as of this moment." Elizabeth said walking closer to the man as he struggled against the demon maid.
"You bitch! You're just like that brat Ciel Phantomhive!" His spit at her feet but Elizabeth shoved a sharp knife against his throat causing him to freeze looking in her eyes that held death in them.
"Say one more word about Ciel ever again and I will slit your throat without a second thought. Understand?" The man slowly nodded and Elizabeth pulled away and Samantha let go. But as soon as he was free Albert made a move to punch Elizabeth to which she dodge easily and Samantha within two seconds grabbed his arm and twisted back breaking his arm. He cried out in pain and dropped to the ground.
"Samantha it seems like our guest needs some convincing on keeping our little secret." Samantha's eyes glowed violet as she bowed to her Lady. Ignoring the cries of pain the man makes as Samantha drags him away. The demon maid threw him across the garden far from her Lady so that Elizabeth wouldn't have to see this.
"Please please don't hurt me!" Albert said as he backed up against a tree, Samantha walking ever so slowly towards him her purple eyes aglow shining with death.
"Now Lord Albert was that any way to treat a Lady. You really should have known better didn't your mother raise you right?" As Samantha crept closer Albert got more and more terrified.
"Just what are you!?" Samantha stopped and smirked at the poor soul.
"I'm simply one hell of a maid." And with one strike blood splattered over the rose bushes and Samantha stood up wiping off her nails.
"Oh dear looks like the garden needs some cleaning now. Yet another thing to do." She sighed shaking her head then looked over to the now dead man.
"Men like you disgust me." And in a fast paced motion the whole garden was cleared and the blood gone as well as the body. No one heard of Lord Albert again.
Samantha walked into the piano room as she saw her Lady practicing with a straight look on her face. The piece was dark and hunting a musical number Elizabeth ordered Samantha to teach her. A piano piece from hell. The specific song Elizabeth was playing was the royal anthem that all Princesses had to learn on one instrument or another. Samantha herself learned the song on the violin and grabbed one from the music room and started playing along with Elizabeth. The golden hair young woman glanced at the demon maid before she crescendoed into the next part of the song, Samantha immediately following in rhythm. As the song came to a conclusion Elisabeth shifted to face Samantha.
"Is it finished?" The brunette lowered the violin showing no expression to her face. Then with such elegance the bowed to the blonde at the piano.
"If I couldn't handle a small perverted man what kind of Maid would I be?" Elizabeth nodded turning back to the piano lightly running her hands over it. Her mind drifted to Ciel as it always had and she immediately slammed the piano shut and stood up walking towards the door.
"Samantha please bring me some tea. I will be in my study doing more paperwork." Samantha again bowed agree to her Lady's demands and when the door slammed shut Samantha sighed and stood up again.
"That girl….she must learn to be more patient." Suddenly she saw a crow on the window sill and smiled walking over to the crow and gently petting it.
"Hello there. I haven't seen you in awhile how is your master?" The crow made a crow noise as if it was responding to her.
"Hmmm I understand well Lady Elizabeth is not ready to see him quite yet. Plus she has a lot more lessons on how to be the demon princess. I have a feeling she will be the last one." The crow, crowed one last time and flew away as Samantha stared after it as the bird was flying through the sky.
(Time skip to the ball that night)
Samantha stepped out of the carriage holding out a hand for her Lady. Elizabeth grabbed the hand with a delicate way showing off her dark emerald green dress with black lace trim. Her hair was worn as it had been all day and she wore a necklace of silver chain and a giant emerald in the middle. Keeping her stoned face on Elizabeth climbed the steps of the manor her maid following closely behind her.
As she stepped into the ballroom she look around at the marvelous sight. There was gold and burgundy all around with a giant beautiful painting on the ceiling and at the very center of the room was a big crystal chandelier. When she was younger, Elizabeth would have marveled at the sight and thought it was very "cute" but adult Elizabeth didn't have time for such parties. The sooner she could leave the better, through the years Elizabeth has come to hate balls or parties.
"Well well well miss Elizabeth Midford always a pleasure to see you miss." The said young woman turned in the direction of the voice to find, Victor Van Runkle. Victor was the same age as Ciel and was always jealous that Ciel had Elizabeth's hand and not him. He had black hair such as Ciel but brown eyes nothing like the beautiful blue her fiancé had. Ever since Ciel "died" Victor has been trying to win her heart much to Elizabeth's dismay.
"Victor Van Runkle, I should have guessed you would be here. How are you?" Elizabeth asked for formality only as she gave him a tight smile.
"Wonderful my Lady thank you. Would care to interest me in a dance?" He bowed holding out his hand and as Elizabeth was going to refuse Samantha's voice came in her head. 'Unfortunately yes mistress, it is proper to dance with some suitors since, you are single.' Elizabeth sighed even though to her she was anything but single, no one else was to know that so she nodded to the young man and took his hand. Victor led them out onto the dance floor and they fell into step. Throughout the dance Elizabeth looked anywhere else but him.
"Elizabeth please at least look at me." Elizabeth gave him a side glance as the music continued on. "Listen you know I like you and I have plenty to support you with so why won't you accept my proposal." Elizabeth stopped their dance looking him straight in the eye with no expression on her face.
"Because the one and only person I will marry is Ciel but he's gone so I will be as if I were a widow and never marry. I took on his company to carry on his legacy and for society sake I must come to these balls and parties and that my good sir is the only reason I am here. Now if you excuse me I have business matters to discuss with Lord George Chamberlin." With that final word the young blonde turned on her heel walking away her ever faithful maid following close behind. Lord Victor Van Runkle clutched his fist as he watched the woman walk off.
"I will have you Elizabeth Midford." And he then stalked off to the opposite side of the ballroom. Unknown to the couple or even the demon maid a figure watched from the shadows just outside of the window keeping a careful eye on Elizabeth. The figure tightened his hands into fists as it watched Victor walk off. Somehow he was able to hear the whole conversation and didn't like it one bit.
"Elizabeth will never be with you." The figure said roughly as it stared at Victor with murder in its eyes.
