Ok so this is not how I wanted to start writing my first fanfiction story. My friend drunk on the floor at 2AM and my cat that just won't go to sleep without me. I know no one cares about this part but I thought you should know where I draw my inspiration from. I really hope you enjoy because I know I will.
Disclaimer: I do not own The Darkest Powers
I can't breathe…
"Oh princess I can't wait for the guest to see you." Miss Lidia says as she pulls too hard on the corset again.
Miss Lidia, she's been with me for as long as I can remember. She's only a few years older than me but I call her "Miss" because she acts older than her age.
"Miss…Lidia…you're…pulling too…TIGHT!" I breathe out as my lungs try to function under the pressure.
"Princess I don't want to hear this whining coming from you. We have special guest coming tonight to see you. Many people don't know about you which is your father's fault after…" I gave her a look and Miss Lidia stopped talking already knowing that she was speaking out of line.
"I'm sorry your highness I shouldn't have brought that up, but you know I'm right." Miss Lidia said as she finished putting on the light blue Victorian corset my father had sent to me from England.
"I would like to be alone for awhile with my thoughts if you don't mind." I said as I got down from the stand.
Miss Lidia gave me a look as if I had scolded her.
"Your highness you know I would never speak out of turn without thinking what's best for you first." Miss Lidia pleaded as she grabbed my hand.
"I know but I must be alone for awhile and you can come back in with Sandra and Rain to finish getting me ready. Okay?" I looked at her begging to leave me alone.
"Yes, your Highness, Good Afternoon." Miss Lidia bowed as she looked up her eyes held a somber look. I acknowledged her bow and walked towards the window.
My name is Princess Chloe Lilica Saunders. My father is King Stevens Galen Saunders the Third. My dad rules a small country just south of England. We have over sixteen thousand subjects and I haven't seen one. Part of me believes that they're not real. About sixteen years ago when my mother was still alive, there was a terrible accident in the woods and her carriage caught on fire. That's all I know at least. I was two when it happened, and I was apparently with the wet nurse when this all took place.
My father, the few servants that I see, and Miss Lidia don't discuss it with me at all. I've tried asking about it. I even stayed up all night screaming for someone to tell me about her. Do I look like her? Do we have the same cheek bones? Can she see things that's not there like I can? I wanted to know at some point but now?
I just want to see the world and travel. I want to go to school and write stories about whatever I want. My imagination can be wild sometimes but when you have very little communication with people it's easy to get lost in your own world.
I continue to look out my balcony and I'm amazed at how convenient the placement of my room is because all you can see is the ocean. No towns people, no kids playing, no music, just the sounds of the ocean. At night I open my balcony and fall asleep to the waves of the ocean crashing. I'm usually awakened by Miss Lidia yelling about safety and why I shouldn't keep my balcony open at night.
Does it matter? I'm a princess in a tower that's big enough to be its own castle. I sit and count the days down until I'm old enough to ask permission to leave but who am I kidding my dad would never let me leave.
As I look out again, I believe an hour has passed. My guess is correct as I hear two distinct knocks at the door. I already know who it is.
"Come on in you two." I say with a giggle.
"Hey" they say in unison.
"I'm sorry hey your Highness." they say together again with a mischievous smile on their face.
"Sandra, Rain finally some normality around here." I breathe out as I stand up and kiss them on the cheek.
"Did Lidia give you a hard time again?" Sandra giggled already knowing the answer.
"I swear that lady needs to get laid." Rain said as he picked up my brush from my vanity and started brushing his hair.
Sandra and Rain are twins and around my age. They've been with me since I was about fourteen years old. They used to be formal and stiff with me but over time we've become close friends. Actually, they're my only friends.
"Rain you shouldn't say things like that…she can hear you through the walls." I said as I looked around the room for her.
"Yeah I bet that old hag can hear me." Rain said
"Uh you do know she's like twenty-two years old right?" Sandra said
Rain shrugged his shoulders and as if she was summoned Miss Lidia walks in and Sandra and Rain jumped up.
"Being useless as usual I see." Miss Lidia said looking over at the twins.
"Sorry ma'am." Sandra and Rain said together.
"Well come on we have a princess to get ready." Miss Lidia said as she approached me.
"Your highness we are going to do your hair, eyes, and lips for the guest coming tonight and your father said he would like to speak to you before they arrive.
"Yes, Miss Lidia I understand." I said
I don't know the guest, but they will be the first people that I interact with that's not Miss Lidia, the twins, or my father.
Needless to say, my imagination is running wild.
I honestly read this over like four times and I still think it's a bit rough, but I want reviews. I want to know if my story is worth writing about. I don't care if I get one review as long as I have an audience I will write and I promise you this is only the beginning this is nothing like you've read before.
