She blinked.
And blinked again.
This was... not at all what she had expected.
She turned to look at her surroundings. White walls, white curtains, doctors, nurses.
She looked at the person holding her in a baby manner. That was when realization hit.
She was reincarnated. As a baby.
The baby looked at her supposed to be mother, and couldnt help but gasp in awe. Fiery red hair sprayed out in an uneven manner, and emerald eyes. She was beautiful.
She heard her parents and the doctors fuss over her light blue hair and teal eyes and was internally excited. If she still had her looks feom her past life, then maybe she still had her lack of presence. She tried squirming her baby body but failed to do so. 'I mean, I was probably just a few minutes old.' She thought.
They stayed at the hospital for three days, with her mother resting a lot and her dad staying at both of their sides most of the time. While this would have been a great experience to know her dad, she was quickly dissapointed to see her dad muttering to himself how she wasnt a boy and looked nothing like the both of them. At least he wasnt the abusive type.
She was however perplexed on who Padfoot and Moony were. Why would a parent name there children like that?
When they went back to the house, she felt into a sort of routine.
Early in the morning, she would cry to be fed (and lose a part of her dignity while she was at it), sleep, wake up, listen to her mother tell her about magic (the thing taking her a few days to accept), eat, sleep, try walking, try talking, getting tired, sleeping, eating, sleeping again. Repeat.
One other thing she was sort of happy about was getting to know her parents.
Lily was a kind woman, a muggleborn witch who has a squib for a sister (who detests magic), and was bullied for her status as a muggleborn. The whole 'I-stole-your-magic' thing didnt make sense to her. How would they steal the pureblood's magic when they didnt even know magic in the first place? If they did, then why didnt they tell anyone else about it?
One thing she learned about the wizarding world, was that they had no common sense.
After a while, uncle Padfoot and Moony would visit, and Lily and James would always put an illusion on her to look like a mini James. Whenever she herad her uncles talk about how she looked just like her father, she would always look at the said person and see how his eyes would darken and the teeth clenching. If the other two saw it, they didnt say anything. She was pretty sure uncle Moony saw it though.
Life went on normal (as normal as you can get with a healthy baby body), and thats where the other thing comes in. It was that she was really healthy. It was common knowledge in her past life that she had a weak body, only being able to play 2 quarters, or even 3 when youre really pushing it. But know, she was a healthy human being (with magic). And so, at the tender age of 3 months, she was able to stand up. This wasnt normal, but the whole thing also wasnt normal. Her talking was getting better, at English and Japanese (thank goodness Kagami came from America.)
She learned about the ongoing war, and was oh so disgusted at what Voldemort had done to innocent people. Learning about her Aunt Petunia was exhilirating. Lily would always talk about her with melancholic smiles and she could get why. While Petunia would treat her badly, she was still her sister. Before Lily even knew she was a witch, they were best buds and now knowing something you cant do because of something you dont have, but what your sister has, just leads to jealousy.
Kuroko herself was jealous of the Generation of Miracle's power, but was quickly relieved she didnt have anything like it. If she did, she might have had turned with them. That aside, Petunia was jealous of Lily. Wanting that power quickly turned into hating that power, because she could never do anything like it. You need to learn that you can still achieve great things. Perunia never did learn.
Dumbledore... was a nifty person. He was kind, and always did things for the 'greater good'. Her parents didnt know it, but when they talked aout him, everything was just so sketchy. He was manipulative, and they didnt know. He almost always in control, and he seemed like the guy that considered only his ideas, never taking count of the other's. He withheld information that could've saved many lives. Kuroko remembered in her past life a basketball team just like Dumbledore. They would act all friendly with the referees, and use the blind spots to their advantage.
To have Dumbledore as a headmaster, a person who already had a lot of control in the first place, the thought just made her shudder. She was already starting to think abour going ro another school that was not Hogwarts (who named a school after a pig disease?).
Some more months passed by and she learned more. About spells, she memorized a whole lot of them, potions, the plants, the creatures (there were real centaurs, who knew?). She watched her mother do incantations, and even learned of the Unforgivables. The Imperious, Crutacious, and Evada Kedavra. Of course, the wizarding world just had to have a spell that could kill you instantly. She wondered how many death eaters were in the Imperious. The light spells though... they could still kill you. Aguamenti could make you drown, Incendio could burn you, Wingardium Leviosa can make something fall on top of you, Bombarda Maxima was basically an explosive, Reducto... basically Thanos. It really was the matte of you use them. Although some things really were meant to be left alone, like necromany. 'With Great Power, comes Great Responsibility.' When Uncle Ben's words, just hit right close to home.
At almost 15 months old, she was quickly woken up by her mothers footsteps. She saw her put a glamour charm on her to be Mini-Miss-James. She felt the magic wash over her in a soothing yet hurried tone. It was always different and better than her dad's. James' magic washed over her begrudgingly but at the same time almost forcefully. After that, a large pop was heard and Dumbledore appeared right in front of her. She watched their conversation go back and forth and saw her parents finally agreeing to move to Godric's Hollow. Of course, she just had to be part of a prophecy that her parents dont even know.
In October 30, her parents decided to make Peter the Secret Keeper. Everyone knew that Sirius was the Keeper and it would have been to obvious. There was someone about Pettigrew though that was so so wrong. When they made him the Secret Keeper, she cried for the first time in months. There was just something so different and so vile about him that she didnt trust him.
In October 31, Voldemort happened. She was sleeping when she heard the door open with a big bang. Startled, she sat up and looked around. She saw her mother in tears as she rushed toward her. She was halfway there when the door to the room opened and in came the man who killed innocents. She saw her mother plead and plead and couldnt help but cry out.
"MAMA!"
She watched Lily give one last glance at her and mouth three words.
"I love you"
Just as it came out, green light reached her mother's body. With one last intake of breath, Lily Evans-Potter crumpled to the ground with a melancholic smile.
Something inside Kuroko snapped.
Seeing her mother, her -ohsolovingandaffectionate- mother die right in front of her eyes, a part of her heart broke. Having Lily as a mother was one of the best things happening in her life. Lily would always look at her so lovingly, with so much affection and so much pride like nothing ever compared to her. No one has ever looked at her with so much raw emotions that it made her cry.
As the Evada Kedavra spell hit Kuroko's 15 month old body, it rebounded and left a lightning shaped scar on her forehead. Why it had done that? No one knows. Except magic.
When the spell rebounded, Voldemort was in the path. It hit him, and a large explosion was heard and seen as the house was blown up from the inside. After that there was only silence. When the death eaters saw only Voldemort's cloak, they grew terrified and fled, leaving the toddler crying from the impact of the scar, and leaving her with hetechromatic eyes
Soon, a black labrador had appeared, who Kuroko knew as Uncle Sirius. He looked around looking for Lily and James, and when he did, his heart broke. There they were laying lifelessly on the floor, with Lily having her sad smile. He broke out of his trance, when a cry was heard from behind him. He looked back and was dumbfounded when what he saw was a toddler with light blue hair, a lightning shaped scar on the forehead, and hetechromatic eyes- teal on the right, and emerald on the right.
"Harriet?" He asked, unsure.
"Uncle Pwadfoot." She cried.
He relaxed, knowing it was really her. That was always how she would greet him whenver she came to visit. "Why do you look so different?"
"Mama an Jwames put gwamour chawm on me evwy visit."
That made him give an amused expression. "So this is you real appearance?" He was now holding her tight, away from the wreckage.
She nodded and yawned. Her uncle just gave her a sad smile. They were now near the in the woods next to the house, basking under the moonlight.
She was about to sleep when she heard him.
"I'm sorry."
She looked at his eyes, seeing them shine with unshed tears.
"If I had known, I would have, I would have-"
With as much strength she could muster, she lifted her hand and slapped his face
*SLAP*
He looked at her flabbergasted, as if wondering when she ever had the tendencies to slap someone. She was too, in the back of her mind.
"Pwadfoot ish the bes uncle and godfawer eve," she declared. "Mama and Jwames wont wike it when you feel sad."
Her godfather just looked at her for a few moments until he let out a small chuckle. "You're right pup, you're right."
With that the fell asleep, with Sirius leaning against the tree with Harriet tucked between his arms and her head on his shoulders. He put on heating charms and wards around them, and finally transfigured a blanket over them. They slept there in the forest, wasted because of all the happenings
They didnt see that Hagrid had come by the house, only to leave empty-handed. They didnt see how Dumbledore looked murderous for not finding the prophecy child.
They slept there, blissfully unaware of anything surrounding but the dreams of their own.
