Hope you enjoy this.
Sitting in her office at SFIT, Professor Granville was supposed to be grading assignments for her classes. She was unable to focus though because her mind was on other things.
First, there was the upcoming visit from Liv Amara to plan. She was coming to see Tadashi's robot Baymax and Karmi's medical derma-stickers. Both were scientific breakthroughs.
As much as she admired Liv Amara, she knew the woman had difficulty when it came to taking no from private researchers. She had no doubt Liv had seen the leaked footage about Hiro and would pester Tadashi about having her lab analyze his brother's medical nanites.
She would have to intervene somehow to protect the privacy of her students and their families. Another fact was the school was going to be receiving high powered magnet for their science department and she needed to increase security.
Her original security robots had been working fine until they were compromised and started attacking everyone. She would have to rebuild them from scratch. Perhaps she could find better parts in Good Luck Alley.
Another headache was the school was in the middle of Rivalry Week with SFAI. SFAI had already painted their cafeteria and some of her top students had been caught when they tried to steal the statue and instead uncovered a secret lab belonging to SFAI's founder.
"If I had known how much of a headache I would be getting when I took the job as SFIT'S Dean I might have reconsidered." Setting aside the papers, for now, she decided to go for a walk and get some fresh air to help her think.
As she walked around the campus she recalled her years as a teacher at SFIT. She had been so eager and determined to inspire the next generation of scientists that she let it cloud her judgment.
Pausing in front of the robotics lab, she recalled the explosion and terrible fire. Sometime she could even still smell the smoke and the sharp points of the destroyed building.
"What happened to you Bob?" she asked herself out loud. After Bob had been taken to the hospital she had no further contact with him. As soon as he was released he dropped out of school and returned home.
She was able to find out he traveled abroad six months after the accident and eventually he returned home. Shortly after he came he disappeared and no one had seen him since. "Are you still into science or have you chosen another path Bob? What have you been up to since I last saw you?"
Continuing on her walk, she once again paused when she caught sight of the nearly rebuilt convention hall. A few more weeks and that hall would be complete in time for the end of the semester open house.
She was looking forward to greeting the parents and helping introduce the students to the Innovation of Tomorrow representatives. She hoped the hall would have a name when it opened.
Originally, she had given Tadashi and his brother a week to give her a name. Due to the robbery of her office and massive security problems, the school was facing she had extended the due date to next Monday.
"I do hope the Hamada brothers choose an appropriate name for the building," Professor Granville told herself. She was growing concerned about the brothers.
Normally, she wouldn't be this invested in a student's family, but this was different. Hiro was a future student and had undergone serious trauma caused by the former dean of the school, which resulted in impacts that would affect the teenager for the rest of his life.
She was not a fool. Since his first visit, Tadashi had refused to let his little brother on campus again. Knowing about Tadashi and his friends' part-time jobs, she feared Tadashi was walking down her path.
The path that nearly led her genius student to his death. "I have to warn Mr. Hamada about what his actions could lead to," she again whispered to herself.
Having had enough fresh air, Professor Granville headed back to her office. There was work that needed to be done.
Trina was sitting in Joe's Dinner waiting for Hiro to show up. The boy had contacted her recently and told her he needed to get away from his family for a day.
She agreed and sent up their "date." She wondered how Hiro was going to get here undetected, especially since his family had been keeping an extra close watch on the boy lately.
Last night, when she had been spying on Hiro, he had been doing his best to attach, whatever he had been working on before, to his transmitter. He had stopped the attempt when he heard Tadashi and Baymax coming up the stairs.
The door jingled as someone came into the dinner. Trina gave a genuine smile as Hiro rolled himself inside. He looked around once and adjusted his headpiece before coming over to the handicap section.
"Hey, Trina. Thanks for setting this up."
"How did you get here by yourself? I thought that your robot nanny had to escort you to places if your brother or aunt were able to?"
Hiro gave her a tiny grin. "Well, I technically snuck out. Aunt Cass is busy running the café and my brother's in school.
I would have brought Baymax, but when I told him where we were going and that we were going to meet you, he was going to tattle to Aunt Cass. So I might have drained his battery and left him to recharge for a few hours."
Trina chuckled and applauded his deviousness. "Way to be rebellious Hiro. Oh, I hope you don't mind, but I got you something." She reached in and pulled out a mini version of Baymax in armor, only it was blue, instead of red.
"Father and I actually spent some quality time at a virtual-reality game arcade and I won this. I thought you might like to have a friend who listens to you."
Hiro took what he thought was stuffed toy only to realize by the weight it was actually a little robot. "This was a prize at an arcade? An actual working robot."
Trina blushed and admitted she was into robotics and had turned the stuffed toy into a little companion. Hiro praised her for her creativity and turned the robot on.
"Greetings friend. I am your personal hero! May I know your name please?"
"Hiro Hamada."
"Nice to meet you, Hiro Hamada! My name is Mini-Max! Together we will be defenders of justice!"
Noticing the attention they were getting Trina took Mini-Max back and quickly adjust his volume levels. "Sorry, I guess he still needs a little work."
"No worries, everyone's first attempt is going to have a few glitches." Hiro placed his new robot on his right side. "Ready for lunch?"
About fifteen minutes later they were both eating sloppy-joes and drinking Mountain Dew. They talked about inconsequential stuff first. How their online friends were doing or how their physical therapy was going.
After taking a huge bite out of her food, Trina swallowed and set aside her sandwich. "I wanted to tell you what happened to me. I finally feel comfortable enough. You don't have to tell me about what happened to you if you don't want to."
Hiro leaned in closer to hear what Trina's story was. He noticed how her fingers brushed her locket. With only a slight hesitation, she removed the locket from around her neck and opened it, revealing a picture inside.
Inside, there was a picture of Trina's parents, holding her when she was just a baby.
She greatly resembled her mother who had a similar facial structure and body type, with the same colored hair. The only difference was her eyes were green.
"My mom's name was Andrea Dell. She was a freelance scientist whose specialties were biomechanics and botany." Seeing Hiro's raised eyebrows she explained her mother like to garden.
My father, Bob Akens is also a freelance scientist specializing in robotics, computers, and to many things, for me to name. They both wanted to push past the restrictions set by the government and find answers by themselves.
A little over three and a half years ago, my parents were working on creating a perpetual energy source." She looked at the picture fondly. "No one said it could be done. That it was impossible. They wanted to make it possible."
Hiro understood that desire. To prove you were the smartest person in the room. That the impossible was a limit for others.
"Something went wrong with the containment room. The resulting explosion destroyed our house and one acre of land. Thankfully, we were living way out in the middle of nowhere so no one else was hurt."
Tears started to streak down Trina's face as she quickly wiped them away. "On the other hand, being in the middle of nowhere means it takes a long time for help to arrive.
My mother died before help could get to us. My father and I were severely injured. My leg was shattered and my arm had been forcefully amputated. I'm glad they were able to reattach it.
My internal organs were also affected by the explosion. Some were bruised and squished. My heart was considerably weakened. I was in the hospital for six months before I was released."
Hiro blinked in astonishment. For someone who had been grievously injured, she looked astonishing healthy. He recollected what she had said the first time they had talked. "Your father must know a lot of people in high places to help you recover judging by how beautiful you are."
Again Trina blushed. "My father called in a lot of favors from people he had worked with over the years. I may look great now, but I'm still not one hundred percent yet.
Currently, Father is hoping to find someone who can help make my heart better."
After hearing her story Hiro couldn't hold his own back. He told her about everything that had happened to him and how he was struggling with his family to see him as a person again.
The only thing he held back was about his technopathy abilities he was still discovering. He didn't want her to think he was crazy. Instead, he showed her the firewall material he had managed to attach to the transmitter. "It's a precaution because somebody might figure out a way to control me again."
"Because even though the microbots are gone, your transmitter could be used for other robotic machines right?"
The two paid for their lunch and left the diner. Hiro suggested a walk through the park and Trina agreed.
The two teenagers went to the top of the larges hill in the park. "You want to see how fast you can go downhill?" she asked.
"Hey Mini-Max, want to try out the hill with me?" Hiro asked after turning the robot back on.
"A hero never passes up a challenge!"
Trina pushed Hiro's wheelchair down the hill. The boy expertly controlled the motorized chair. He avoided anyone in his path and managed to brake at the bottom.
They continued to have fun for another hour before Hiro realized he had to get back because Baymax was going to waking up from charging soon.
Hiro managed to get back to his room just as Baymax finished charging. The robot blinked as he checked his internal clock. "Hiro, why was I recharging? My battery power should have lasted until tonight."
Hiro shrugged his shoulders. "I don't know. Maybe you used too much power earlier."
Baymax's eyes narrowed. "You are lying Hiro. Lying leads to deadly consequences. What did you do to me?"
"Nothing serious! I just went to have lunch with my friend."
Baymax walked closer and did his best to cross his arms. "You were not supposed to go to lunch with anyone without me escorting you. Anytime you are in public without a family member I'm supposed to supervise you."
Hiro rolled his eyes and pointed out he had asked Baymax to accompany him, but he decided to tattle instead. "You and I, both know if I asked Aunt Cass for permission to go out, she would have said no. If she said yes without a doubt she would take it back when she found out who I was going to see.
My brother's paranoia nearly caused me to lose the one chance I had to make a friend for myself. I did what I wanted and I don't regret any of it."
He turned his back to the robot and rolled over to his computer. He wanted to chat with his other friends.
Knowing Baymax was going to continue to lecture him about his behavior, Hiro turned on Mini-Max. "Greetings Hiro! How may I be of service to you?"
"I thought you would like to meet your big brother." Twirling his wheelchair around, Hiro smiled as Baymax stopped in his tracks at seeing the tiny robot version of himself.
"Who is this?"
"I'm glad you asked. Baymax, meet Mini-Max. Trina gave him to me. He's your new little brother. Why don't you two get to know each other?"
Mini-Max jumped from the wheelchair and landed on Baymax's head. "What should we talk about first big brother? What are your hobbies? Do you think blue is better than red?"
Satisfied that Baymax would be occupied for some time, Hiro turned his attention back to the computer. He was going to practice with his technopathy. Ever since the incident with the robotic kaiju, Hiro had been experimenting and mastering his new power.
Taking a deep breath, he focused his mind on the computer in front of him and turned it on. The firewall protection on his transmitter also absorbed the excessive heat from the increased electrical activity.
Sending a signal out he felt his mind connect to the computer and the world around him faded as his vision was replaced with images of programs and the world of the internet.
He accessed the chatroom and saw his friends were there and they were talking about something Cyborg-Girl had mentioned.
HeroP7: Hey everyone, what's going on?
Brittlebones: HeroP7, is it true? Did you actually meet the elusive Cyborg-Girl in the real world?
HeroP7: Why do you want to know?
Newlungs: Because she has never opened up this much before. Since you two have started talking she is joining in with conversations not revolving around our struggles.
CPS: She wanted to talk about plants with me. It was the. The first time she has ever done that.
HeroP7: That is big news. I can confirm we've met in the real world. Anything else you want to know you have to ask her.
Brittlebones: Will do. I admit I would like to meet in the real world. However, we probably don't live close together. It's a miracle you live close to Cyborg-Girl.
CPS: Maybe one day. We will all meet. With each other and have fun.
Newlungs: That would be radical. I already had one miracle and I would love to experience a second. Hey, do you think it's okay if we disclose our genders? I mean if you're comfortable with that."
Brittlebones: Sure, I'm a guy and I use the pronouns he and his.
CPS: Girl. She and her.
HeroP7: Same as Brittlebones.
Newlungs: Gender fluid. For the most part, I feel female and use her and she as pronouns. But I do have my manly days and use him or his. I hope everyone is okay with that.
Brittlebones: Fine by me.
CPS: No problem.
HeroP7: You are who you are.
Newlungs: Thanks, everyone.
Hiro's vision changed again and now he could see his friends through their webcams. For the first time, he caught a glimpse of the people he had grown close to over the past few months.
Brittlebones was a young dark-skinned boy about fifteen. His hair was short and flat. The telltale bluish tint of osteogenic imperfecta could easily be seen.
Hiro saw the braces on Brittlebones legs and arms to help his friend move his limbs.
Pushing the cameras to zoom a little further he saw his friend's name on the door to his bedroom. Brittlebones real name was Noah.
Switching to CPS, he saw a redhead girl, about thirteen years old, sitting in a wheelchair with a belt across her waist, keeping her in place. Her hands were trembling slightly and he saw her mouth what she wrote awkwardly.
Her legs looked very stiff. He could tell by looking at her that her muscles were not as strong as other people's.
The camera focused on a bag attached to the wheelchair. The name Dana was sewn on there.
The last person Hiro checked on was Newlungs. She appeared to be Dominican-American with long brown hair in a giant braid resting on her back and bright brown eyes.
She appeared to be thinner and shorter than normal. A symptom of CF was that it affected the body's ability to digest food and retain nutrition. This affected height and weight of a person.
Because she had received a lung transplant, Maria, which was the name on the bottles of medication on the shelf, there were no longer any assistive devices for her lungs. She did have a feeding tube to help her get more nutrition.
She was taking a lot of drugs. Anti-rejection drugs to keep her body from attacking her new lungs, medicine for her CF, and there were even supplements to help her digest her food.
Pulling back out of the cameras, Hiro returned to the chat room to finish the conversation.
HeroP7: Sorry about blanking out. I was just imagining what it would be like if we all were together in the same room.
Brittlebones: Not a problem. It's a natural thing to wonder. I wish I could stay on longer, but I hear my mom calling for me. Bye.
CPS: I have therapy soon. Goodbye.
Newlungs: Time for me to take my medicine and get some rest. Talk to you later HeroP7. Bye.
HeroP7: Bye.
Hiro disconnected from the computer pleased with his mastery over his power. He maneuvered his chair so he was facing the two robots again. "So how are you two brothers doing?"
"Baymax is an excellent big brother helping care for the people my heroic actions saved!"
"Mini-Max is an intriguing little brother. I still have trouble understanding the relationship between siblings. By working together I can gain a better understanding so I can improve my services as a healthcare companion."
Hiro agreed wholeheartedly and mentioned Tadashi would put an end to this study if he found out where Mini-Max came from. "I promise I'll tell Aunt Cass and Tadashi about Trina if you won't tattle on me for the next two weeks."
"Two weeks is when you go in for another X-ray for your leg. You shall tell them after the appointment?" Hiro swore he would so Baymax agreed to keep his secret for now. If anyone asked, he would go along with the taradiddle Hiro had created Mini-Max.
Having Mini-Max for a companion was interesting. The little robot saw everyday chores as heroic deeds and he was helpful around the café becoming a waiter.
Hiro made himself useful by washing and drying the dishes in the back. It kept him out of sight of the customers. While the number of people trying to snap his photo had gone down significantly, there were still plenty of creeps out there.
Four days after Hiro's secret lunch date, he was in the back washing the plates and humming to himself. He scrubbed one stubborn plate hard and finally got it clean. "Hey, Mini-Max, come in here please."
There was the sound of the curtains parting and silverware clanking together before they were dropped in the sink as the little robot jumped on the teenager's lap. "How can I be of service Hiro? Do you need, me to power dry the dishes or put them away super fast?"
Hiro laughed before rubbing Mini-Max's head. "Nah, I was wondering if you could go out to the garage and grab a legal pad I left next to the computer."
"Certainly! It will be an honor to help my friend!" The little robot jumped off his lap and started sneaking in the direction of the garage.
After drying a few more dishes Mini-Max returned with the legal pad and a message. "I found your legal pad, my good man. Your honorable brother told me to remind you that you need to get going to therapy today.
Shall I accompany you or stay here with Aunt Cass and my elder brother for quality time?"
"Stay and help out here. Since you started helping out, we've gotten more positive reviews for The Lucky Cat Café."
Feeling happier than he had been in a long time, Hiro got into the van without a complaint. Once he was secured Tadashi started driving.
The college student looked in the review mirror at his brother. They still hadn't spoken much since the robotic kaiju incident. "Did you hear about Honey Lemon discovering Lenore Shimamoto's journal? That was a discovery of the century."
"Good for her. She must have been thrilled," Hiro replied kindly. "Anything else going on?" he asked as the tone of his voice become blasé.
Tadashi's smile turned into a frown as he tried to engage his brother. "We're nearly complete with our group project, which is great. Professor Granville gave everyone an extension to work on their semester-end projects because of how much pressure she put on us."
"How nice of her," the teenager stated sarcastically. "Does this mean I'm banned from the campus even longer? That's going to interfere with me being there when they dedicate the new hall. The one we were supposed to name, together, remember?"
The van came to a stop at a red light. Tilting his head over his headrest Tadashi responded. "We did to it together. I told you Professor Granville accepted our name."
"No, she agreed to your part of the name. You left my part out." The two brothers had agreed the hall should be named after two famous people related to the history of the city.
Tadashi had chosen Shimamoto. Hiro, who had used his abilities to search the entire database of SFIT alumni, had chosen the last name of one of Granville's past students, Akens.
Thinking it would be poor taste to name a hall after a student Granville had failed to protect, Tadashi had only presented his part. He had left the official notice on his bed, which is how Hiro new about the change.
"I'm sorry about that little bro, but I still think it was for the best not to remind SFIT's Dean of her past. You'll be able to attend the dedication now that the new security system is up and running properly."
Funny, how you trust robots, more than me Tadashi. The way your acting you think I committed a crime by telling Aunt Cass about using soft restraints on me.
Instead of admitting what you did, Aunt Cass is now suspicious of me because I don't want her in my mental therapy sessions anymore. No doubt that's why she asked you to watch my physical therapy session today.
Hiro couldn't understand why Aunt Cass was asserting her guardianship on this issue. It would a typical session with only two changes. They were going to start massaging his legs and work on range of motion exercises for his unbroken limb.
Dr. Pipton introduced Hiro to the massage therapist, Dr. Nursery, who insisted he call her by her first name, which was K.C.
As she set up the table, she asked if this was Hiro's first time having a manual massage instead of the ultrasound one used on his scars. He inclined his head.
"Well, don't worry. I'm a certified massage therapist and if at any time your uncomfortable please let me know." After helping the boy onto the table she explained she was going to give him a sports massage.
A sports massage wasn't just for athletes. Anyone who needed help with reducing pain and helping an injury heal should be open to having one.
"I'm about to begin. Remember, just tell me if I'm hurting you." K.C. told him. Once she was sure Hiro was relaxed she began.
"First, I'm going knead your uninjured leg before moving to the areas around your cast," K.C. told him.
Kneading was a technique that involved manipulating the tissue in many ways. Kneading involves lifting, squeezing, and moving tissues. This helped increase the pressure on the capillaries so more blood would flow to the area.
It also helped remove any waste products that had built up in leg because it hadn't been used properly in months.
When she switched legs she was careful to only massage the areas around the cast to promote healing. "Are you in any pain? Should I stop massaging around your broken leg?"
"No, it feels good. The itchiness has gone down considerably."
K.C. smiled and started to prepare for the next technique she was going to use. Switching back to his first leg she started using massage wringing on it.
This technique involved lifting the tissue away from the bone and pushing from side to side as her hands went up and down the limb.
Wringing helped bring oxygen and nutrients to the healing area. It also improved tissue elasticity and extensibility.
The session lasted thirty minutes. "Alright, that's enough for today. How do you feel?"
"Great actually," Hiro commented as he pushed himself upright on the table. K.C. then helped him into his wheelchair. "I can hardly wait to get another one.
K.C. smiled and told him she looked forward to it.
When Hiro finished his range of motion exercises he looked for Tadashi, but he wasn't in the lobby. He went to the parking lot and saw his brother was still in the van. His heart rate went crazy when he saw Tadashi snooping in his legal pad!
He accelerated quickly to get to the van. He pounded on it and Tadashi dropped the pad realizing he had been caught. Lowering the ramp, he let his brother roll in.
"Give me back my journal this instance!" Indeed, the legal pad was being used as a journal. The teenager had labeled it, "Hiro's Property" figuring that his family would leave it alone.
It seemed he should have labeled it properly. Tadashi picked up the journal and held it out as Hiro snatched it right out of his hands. "You read my journal! How could you?"
Tadashi held his hands up and looked at his brother with a pleading expression. "I'm sorry, I should haven't been reading it. I didn't know it was a journal."
The teenager wasn't cutting his brother any slack. "It's my property! You shouldn't have even been touching it, let alone read it!" He clutched the journal to his chest, not bothering to hide his tears.
Tadashi felt guilty about what he had done. He had broken Hiro's trust in him. At the same time, he was also angry about what he had read and seen in his little brother's journal.
"I'm sorry little brother. It was wrong for me to invade your privacy. Your thoughts are yours alone. I know I don't deserve your forgiveness. I will try to make it up to you though."
Hiro said nothing to him. Once again his brother had broken his trust. Did Tadashi even care he was breaking his promise to his little brother? Had his brother really lost perspective in their relationship?
That night at dinner Hiro didn't meet his brother's eyes. Instead, he ate his spicy chicken wings in silence. Aunt Cass hated seeing the tension between the two brothers. "Hiro, is something wrong?"
"Yes, something is wrong. Tadashi broke my trust again." The boy pushed his plate away before crossing his arms.
Aunt Cass sighed. "I'm positive Tadashi would never do something like that."
Tadashi put down his silverware. "I accidentally read Hiro's journal."
Aunt Cass gasped when Hiro interjected it was no accident. "It was my private property! You should have left it alone and not continue reading it once you knew what it was!"
Aunt Cass looked at her oldest nephew in surprise. "Why didn't you put it back once you discovered what it was?"
"Because I found out Hiro lied to us," Tadashi blurted out startling the other two. "He lied about making Mini-Max. A friend from the physical therapy chatroom he snuck out to see."
Aunt Cass whipped her head around and stared at Hiro. He wouldn't go behind her back and do something this stupid, would he?
"Did you leave the house and go meet with someone you only know from online? Answer me!"
Instead of replying, Hiro gestured for Baymax to come over and told him to play footage from the day he met Trina. The healthcare companion did as asked and played the footage.
"According to my sensors, she was telling the truth about who she was. I also double-checked the physical therapy schedule and found her listed next to several physical therapists for sessions to see them."
Aunt Cass's body language relaxed a smidgen. "Why didn't you tell me about meeting her? We could have arranged a time for me to meet her and her parents."
"Because Tadashi had already convinced you that everyone was out to use me when Trina brought up meeting me in the real world the first time. She had her dad's permission and was ready to talk with you until you shut me out."
Tadashi was about to retort when Aunt Cass told both of them to be quiet. Pressing her fingers to her temples, she counted to ten before letting out the breath she had been holding.
"I apologize for not allowing you to speak to me about the subject. Perhaps if we had talked our relationships wouldn't be frayed," she said as she looked at her youngest nephew sadly.
Hiro's heart started to beat a little faster. Was she really apologizing for all the difficulties she had put him through lately?
"Still, I cannot condone you sneaking out behind my back or lying about where things come from. Nor do I like how you've been behaving lately.
I know you are frustrated with your situation, but it doesn't give you the right to act surly towards us or disobey the rules that your brother and I set up to protect you from the media and harm.
You are grounded, Hiro. I'm confiscating your phone and computer. You've lost the right to go and work on projects in the garage lab. You will be helping me in the café by being a waiter because that little robot is going to be locked up.
I am going to be involved in each of your talk therapy sessions because you need someone to teach you how to behave. Not only will Baymax accompany you to all physical therapy and doctor appointments, but he will also be recording everything you say and do because I can't trust you.
You also owe Tadashi an apology for your behavior towards him. It hurts me a lot to see you taking out your angry feelings on him, for the consequences of your actions, including why you haven't been allowed to go back to SFIT."
Hiro's heart broke and he felt his nanites bracing his body as his mind exploded in rage. The power surged throughout the building once more causing everything electronic to die from being overpowered leaving the entire family in the dark.
Outside the power surge spread throughout the city causing explosions and blackouts. From, their lair Obake and Trina watched the footage from a drone as ten neighborhoods lost power.
"Fascinating. So his emotions also play a part in his technopathy. If rage brings on a blackout, what could other emotions do?" Obake seemed to ask himself.
"Hopefully, being sad doesn't mean turning the ac on the top setting and leave people freezing," Trina commented. Her father frowned at her and she shrugged her shoulders. "You did ask."
Obake rolled his eyes and then asked what her little robot had gathered.
"The super magnet will be delivered to SFIT tomorrow and the BH6 member known as Go-Go will be in the lab with Granville as they run tests on it.
The new security system is fully operational and extremely effective at keeping people from getting what they want. I would suggest sending in Noodle-Burger Boy to retrieve the item with some help."
It will be child's play to liberate a few of Krei Tech robots and take a few of my mentor's new security bots. "I believe a big disruption is called for if we're to be successful in our endeavor. Anyone that can help us out?"
Trina smirked and pointed to herself. "I can keep them distracted without getting caught. Remember that news report about Hiro's microbots forcing everyone out of Good Luck Alley?"
Her father nodded wondering where this was going.
"Then trust me when I say I'm going to make a bigger commotion when I turn all the fighter bots into a giant menace." The look in her eyes was cold and decisive. She was going to make Tadashi regret hurting her Hiro.
The next day the group gathered in the lab where Go-Go was working. She had gotten there early to try a few experiments for her end of the year project. They all listened as Tadashi recalled what happened last night.
Honey Lemon actually started to scold Tadashi. "Dashi, how could you? Not only did you break Hiro's trust in you, but you also had the nerve to use private information against him!"
"Dude, I'm pretty sure any lawyer would call you out for benefits from ill-gotten gain. Then tried to justify it as a reason to make him even more of a prisoner than he already is."
Tadashi was stunned by Fred's comparison. "That's not what I did!" he countered heatedly.
Go-Go groaned and slammed her head once on a workstation. "I can't believe these words are leaving my mouth. Ugh, Tadashi, Fred is absolutely right." She then scrambled out of the lab to the bathroom having become ill at saying that.
Tadashi turned his attention to Wasabi, who was fiddling with his hands trying to look like he wasn't there. As Tadashi continued to stare at him Wasabi cracked.
"Alright, I give in. My opinion is that you messed up by reading your brother's journal and using it against him. At the same time, I think you have every right to be angry at him for lying."
"I concur. Hiro was putting himself in danger by lying about his whereabouts."
Tadashi was glad that he had two people on his side. All he wanted was the best for his brother.
He was, however, surprised when Baymax continued to speak. "What I find disconcerting is the punishment he was given."
"What do you mean?"
"While lying about where he was and turning me off was wrong, I am also taking into account Hiro's mental and physical health." Baymax's stomach lit up with a diagram of Hiro.
"As you can see, Hiro has made a lot of progress since he came home. He no longer has any bruises or burns to his body. While the scar tissue on his chest and abdomen is painful, he has learned to manage that pain.
His hair is halfway back to normal and the inflammation around the transmitter is gone. Additionally, his ribs are almost completely healed and should not cause any problems in the future.
Without his latest X-ray, at this time I cannot give an accurate assessment of his broken leg. What I can tell you for certain is that Hiro has been gaining strength and his range of motion is increasing daily.
Once he begins hydrotherapy, I have no doubt he'll do well and be walking again in a matter of months. Mentally he has been depressed, but since chatting with his friends and meeting Trina, his mindset is more positive."
Before anyone could respond an emergency alarm went off. Security bots flooded the area as people were ordered to stay where they were and lock all the doors and windows.
"What's going on?" Honey Lemon asked frantically.
Go-Go rushed back into the lab. "There's a giant fighter bot tearing apart campus! You guys have to get out there and stop it because I can't leave the lab unguarded."
"Fred, stay here with Go-Go. The rest of us will handle the fighter bot." The others rushed out, not noticing a small shadow hiding around the corner.
"Looks like it's time to stir the noodles," Noodle-Burger Boy chuckled.
On the grounds, students were running for safety as a large robot stomped across campus. The robot had been constructed from cannibalized parts of other fighter bots.
Tadashi was riding Baymax as they flew overhead. "Baymax, use your rocket fist."
"Rocket fist away."
The Rocket power fist was directly aimed at the head. The fighter bot heard it was coming and suddenly a shield appeared around the head blocking the fist from connecting.
Honey Lemon charged in, tossing her chemballs hoping to encase the robot. Again the robot responded by whipping out several arms with paddles attached. They hit the chemballs back and Honey Lemon started dodging to avoid getting encased herself.
Wasabi sliced a thick branch off a nearby tree and hurled it at the robot. Two spinning razors popped out the chest and cut the branch in two. Wasabi sliced a decorative boulder into pieces and began hurling them in all directions.
The fighter bot started twirling around as it advanced. None of the rocks did any damage. A bolt of electricity fired and struck Wasabi. He screamed before going down.
Tadashi jumped off Baymax and rolled across the grass, whipping out his robots as he did. He had his snake and disruptor ready.
The fighter bot blinked and Tadashi found himself tied up by the snake and his disrupter was picked up by the fighter bot.
The fighter bot raised its foot high and brought it down with great force to squish Tadashi to death.
Baymax tackled the fighter bot and the two started wrestling on the ground. Honey Lemon sprinted to check on the boys.
Before she could reach them she found herself pinned under Baymax's weight after the fighter bot hurled him into her path.
The fighter bot looked around for more threats. The security bots had yet to respond to it. There was a loud crash that echoed across the campus. Noodle-Burger Boy and the stolen robots were making their getaway.
The fighter bot deployed a pair of wings and flew up to join the group. As the magnet was carried off Tadashi wondered what the villain Obake wanted with it.
