First day on the bus to sit next to her friends. This year is going to be different. She continued thinking as she joined her friends, Abigail and Lisa, conversation. They were talking about clothes.

When the new girl got on the bus. And everyone got quite. Diane had heard about her. She was from San Diego and her name was Lizzie. She had brown hair down to her shoulders and emerald green eyes. Lisa came over and whispered into Diane's ear.

"She looks terrified. I don't blame her. Was probably bullied at her old school or something." Diane thought about this for a couple minutes as the people on the bus started talking again and Lizzie started looking for a seat. Diane, because of how nice she is, let Lizzie sit next to saying a small "hi" before looking terrified again like she was expecting someone to jump out and drag her away.

So Diane tried to comfort her. "You don't have to worry about people killing you here you realize." "I know." She responded. "That's exactly why I'm worried. There is no reason to worry." After that strange answer they stayed quite.

At school we had a lot of their classes together. It always looked like Lizzie was trying to avoid the teacher. I don't blame her for trying. But the way she did it was like she'd been expecting it. When it looked like she wasn't paying attention in English and Mr. Zahn asked her a question. She looked surprised a bit, then answered the question completely correct.

After school she went up to me and asked. "Can I come over to your house today. And of course me being the person I am said yes. We got on the bus together. Not saying much. We got off together saying less.

I wonder what Abigail and Lisa are thinking right now.

Lizzie introduced herself as her full name being Elizabeth Ruewen. We started are night playing Truth or Dare. We played for a couple hours. She never choose Truth. After words she went home. Before she left I got the chance to ask her. "Can I come over to your house next time." And this answer was really trippy. "If you can find it."

The next day of school she want their. So I went looking for her house after school. Which was much harder than I expected. First of all I don't know what her house looks like. I was about to give up, but got an unfamiliar text from someone. It was a picture of a house. It was a least 4 stories tall. And was huge. It was surrounded with huge grassy fields. With strange animals all around it. And right there in the middle of it all was Lizzie! She must of photoshopped herself their or something. But where did she get the original photo from? I gave up on the search and went back home.

Lizzie was at school today and was wearing gloves, even though it was like 50 degrees out . After 1st period I went up to her and confronted her about it. "Why are you wearing gloves." I was expecting a straight answer but I should've known better. "Many reasons." She answered. "None of which concern you, well not yet anyway." And that's how it was for the next month and a half. Me asking her questions about her old life. And her giving me strange answers, that never actually answered the questions. Then after school I talked on my phone with Abigail and Lisa for hours. Repeat. Days after weeks of repetition until Lizzie didn't come to school for a week. She wasn't sick, wasn't on vacation just didn't come. When she came back I asked her why she didn't come to school. All she said was. "Come with me." So with a quick text to my mom I went with Lizzie. I figured we were going to her house, but I should really know better then to think that. We went to a dark alley in between two stores. And she said one thing and one thing only. "Do it." And I knew exactly what she meant."How do you know about that." "I just do, know go on." How did she know this. Nobody knew. I never did this. How. "Please tell me." I said instead. "Let's just say I can explain why you can do it." It sounded promising so before I could second guess myself I did it. Lizzie didn't look that impressed. But I guessed she was. Because when she looked into my eyes she gasped. "What!" I exclaimed. But she stayed silent staring into my eyes. Then she ran off. Took something that looked like a weed and yelled after her. "Is that a weed!" She turned back and said "no it's a yellow crayon". There was a flash of light. When I looked around the corner nobody was there.

Lizzie POV

I couldn't believe it! She was actually an elf. More elf then me. I knew she was an elf when I couldn't hear her thoughts. But she was a Froster. How do you hide something so physical like that around humans. I did the only logical thing. The Council would hate me even more if I brought her in as a forgotten elf. And the Black Swan had disbanded. So I went to Alden to see what I could do. I know leaving like that was abrupt but it was to big to wait. I had to leap to Havenfield and teleport from there because I was still dressed as a human. When I get there I run straight in and start to look for Alden. "Alden!" I yell. "I've got some big news." "Right over here." I hear Alden yell. He was in his office score. I run in. "How has it been." He says as he gives me a big hug. "You know, trying to live with humans." "How is that going for you." "Well, Great. I just found an elf." Alden stopped smiling, and frowned. "What?" I asked him. "Well that's strange." "What should I do?" I ask this time. "Well you can't bring her into the Lost Cities. And the Black Swan can't help you I can give you some contacts of some Washers they could help you but that's all I can do." "That works. Thank You." "Why do you have so quickly. Stay for awhile. Fitz and Biana are coming home shortly." "I'd love to stay Alden, but I have to get back to where I came from." "Well come back shortly then." "I will don't worry." "Isn't there always a reason to worry." I smiled at the joke and leaped away.

Back to Diane:

After that strange chain of events I went back to my house wanting to sleep it of to see if it would make more sense in the morning. But of course Lizzie was there waiting for me. When I got there she said. "Hi Diane we really need to get going, I have many things to show you, and little time to do it." "What do you mean?" I asked. "You want see where I live correct." "Correct, but—." "Today is that day, come on. Everything is handled don't worry." She was saying this as she pulled out the wand again and a huge bracelet from the other, she handed the bracelet to me. "Put this on it'll help you on our journey." "Sure it will." I say with clear sarcasm. "Good." She says. "Follow me." I follow her into another dark alley. She asks me. "Diane, have you ever felt out of place." "Sure." I answer. "I can make ice appear. That can't be normal." "What if I told you there are thousands of people just like you living right under your nose." "Then I wouldn't believe you." I noticed she said me not we. "Then you have little faith." She pauses and frowns. "Diane." She pauses again even longer. "How would you react if I told you, you're not human?" I don't answer not knowing what to say. "Well you aren't." I find my voice again. "If I'm not human then what am I." She blinks a couple times. "You're an elf Diane." "An elf? Are you crazy." "If I'm crazy how would you explain that." She says pointing at my hands. I couldn't responded to that. "If I am an elf what am supposed to do, go to the North Pole or make cookies." And out of all the response I was waiting for. She laughed. "What are you laughing at?" "That's the same reaction I had when Fitz told me this." Who's Fitz?" "Someone you shouldn't bother yourself with yet, have you puts the nexus on yet. We really need to go." I hold up my arm showing her the strange bracelet on it. "Good now we can move on. This." She holds up the wand. "Is a pathfinder. It's elvin transportation. It's in other words teleporting at the speed of light. We jump on a beam of light and go anywhere we want." "Where are you taking me." "To where I spent my first night in the Lost Cities."
