Dimitri

I noticed the new name being called, the new voice in the room but I couldn't see the girl who the voice belonged to. All I knew was that she had to be shorter than everyone in this room and injured. I lined up on the track like instructed and as soon as the whistle blew, I was flying. Running as fast as my leg could go. I could hear light steps behind me, pushing me faster and when I passed the first lap, I looked behind me and there was a new girl, passing the line fast until she slowed and slowly went off to the side.

Instead of finishing my laps, I went over to her to offer my help but she declined. It wasn't until Alberta told me to bring her in to get ice did, she accepted my help. I offered my hand to help her up, a fire burning as I helped her onto the bench. I brought her back ice.

"I'm Rose." She said looking down.

"I'm Dimitri." I replied, putting the ice on her knee. "What happened?" I asked her. She blushed and looked down.

"I'm very clumsy." She replied too quickly. I looked up at her. She was very beautiful, amazing brown eyes and long dark lashes. She was wearing the long sleeves despite the warmth. "I'm new." She said suddenly. I looked up at her.

"I noticed. I've never seen you around here before." I replied as she took the ice from me and held it to her knee. I sat on the bench next to her as Alberta called out exercises. I leaned against the wall.

"You don't have to be in here." She said. "You can go out if you want." I turned to her.

"It's alright, there's better company in here." She blushed. "How's your knee?" She stretched it out and out the ice pack down.

"It's fine. I just need to train it back up again." She sighed.

"Alberta's going to call end of class soon, better get back into our uniforms." She gave me a smile before getting up and heading into the locker room. I headed into mine and changed just as the others came in. When I emerged, Rose was there brace now gone, leaving marks from where it was tightly secured. She was talking to Alberta who waved me over.

"Dimitri, Rose is in advanced calc, you're in that class too, right?" I nodded. "Great, can you take her?" I nodded. Alberta left to go set up for her next class.

"I just have to wait for my friends." She nodded and stuffed the page back into her bag.

"Thank you." I gave her a smile.

"So you transferred here?" She nodded.

"Yeah, I transferred from a small town in Indiana." She replied. "Small town, not many people around you know." I nodded.

"I come from a small town too, Baia. It's in Russia."

"I thought that was an accent." She laughed.

"I thought I hid it well." She scrunched her nose and shook her head. "I don't?"

"No, it's there." I rolled my eyes.

"There they are." I said. She turned to look at the group of people I was pointing to.

"You're friends with her?" Rose asked, folding her arms over her chest. "She's not very nice."

"We kind of just put up with her because she's related to Christian." He waved over the group. "This is Rose."

"Hi!" The blonde girl from lunch said with an over excited cheery voice. "You're insanely fast! I'm Lissa. This is Christian, Eddie, Mia, Andre and Tasha." She pointed to everyone in turn. "We're heading off to Advanced calc, what class are you in next?"

"Me too. Dimitri was going to show me where the room was." Lissa smiled, linked an arm around Rose's and walked away.

"We'll bring you." Lissa said as Mia linked the other arm. "We needed another girl." Mia and Lissa walked ahead with Rose.

"She's hot." Andre said as he looked after Rose. I rolled my eyes as we walked after the girls. "Where is she from?"

"Indiana." I replied as we walked out of the gym. "She's in advanced calc."

"Brains too? She's dangerous." Christian rolled his eyes push Andre's shoulder.

"I think our Dimitri wants to get to know her." Christian wiggled his eyebrows. It was turn to roll my eyes. "He came to her rescue. She was almost as fast as him."

"She was injured." Andre laughed, clapped a hand on my shoulder.

"Of course." I laughed as I ignored them both. Tasha huffed as she walked past us and to her class. She wasn't in advanced calcs. We made it to the class and took our seats. Lissa forced Rose to sit next to her, leaving Christian disappointed. I laughed, sat down in my normal chair and waited for the teacher to come in.

He went through the class list, stopping at the unfamiliar name, questioning why there was a new person in advanced calcs. He rolled his eyes mumbling his disappointment. Rose ignored it, kept her head down and took notes. Before the end of class, he handed out a test. Rose finished it quickly, put up her hand and waited for Alto to pick it up. He looked it over there and then with a frown on his face. He slammed it back down on the table after grading it pointing to the door. Rose swallowed and rushed out the door. The rest of us left when the bell rang signaling the end of the day.

We walked out into the parking lot, seeing Rose as she waited. Andre shoved my arm and pointed in her direction. Lissa led the way over.

"Alto isn't the nicest! I can't believe he did that." Lissa was saying. "Making you take a test on your first day." Rose looked at her confused.

"I got a 100." Rose said. A car pulled up and Mikhil stepped out, opening the door. Rose smiled and got in, thanking Mikhil as he closed the door. He nodded to us before getting back into the car and driving away.

"That was Mikhil, right?" Andre asked as we watched the car. Christian and I both nodded. "As in Mikhil, Abe's head of security?" We nodded again. "So, who's coming to mine so we can get some answers?" We nodded again, getting in our cars. I waited for my sister to come out of the doors and then we set off explaining everything to Viktoria as we went.

"It's not a good time." Eric said after we got to Lissa and Andre's house and questioned him. "We're going over to Abe's for dinner. Your mom is already over there." He said addressing Viktoria and I. We had to leave, get dressed and then go straight to Abe's after. We pulled up, got out and met my mother in the kitchen. She smiled at us.

"How was school?" She asked. Viktoria smiled and answered her, waffled on about school. Andre leaned against the counter as Eric and Rhea walked in with Abe.

"So, Abe, where is this long-lost daughter of yours?" Rhea asked. Everyone looked over in shock.

"She's here somewhere." He replied leaning against the counter. "She'll be down in a minute."

"Mason? Are you okay?" A voice said out in the hall. "Mase - you can't."

"I'll be fine Rosie." Said another voice, muffled, probably on the phone.

"Duckie-"

"I'm out hot stuff."

"Mase." Then she walked in.

Rose.

She stopped, stood still and froze as she stared at us.

"It's you!" Lissa squealed as she ran over to Rose. She stood there as Lissa hugged her. "I didn't know!" Rose patted her back awkwardly.

"It's me."

Dinner was awkward.
