We had been walking for a least half an hour. Nobody saying anything. Accept Livvy saying we're getting close. And Lizzie, obviously on something said something random every couple of minutes. I was about to faint when Quinlin stops halfway between floors. "We are here he announces." He touches the wall. "I know the entrance is here somewhere." It takes him and Livvy another 10 minutes to find the door. When we go in everything is beautiful. Gold and diamonds everywhere. I must of been worth millions of dollars. It was like Everglen but just more. "How did rich are elves?" I barely whisper. Lizzie's pills must of worn off because she answered. "Elves don't really care about money. So everyone gets an unlimited amount." I expected her to say more. But she stopped. "Your room is this way." Livvy says. But I barely hear her. Lizzie walks over and starts to drag me down a hallway with all these doors everywhere. Livvy says. "All these doors are fake so don't use them." I nod trying to listen to everything. "This is the real door." She says pushing one open. Inside it was a study. A huge bookshelf, a couple soft chairs, a desk, and a fireplace. "Is this my room." I say sarcastically. Lizzie who hadn't fully recovered from the pills yet said. "No silly, the rooms are on the other side of the fireplace." In a very squeaky voice. Livvy sighs. "She is correct. The rooms are on the other side. Quinlin would you like to go first?" He nods and walks through the fireplace swiftly. Going straight through the fire. I gasp. "It's not that hard. It just requires a lot of trust. The fire won't burn you." Livvy says as she walks through the flames herself. "See not that hard. You'll be fine." I stand there not sure what to do. Lizzie starts to walk to the fire. Be not wanting to be alone. Runs through. Barely registering what I'm doing. Lizzie stumbles in after me. "Come on. We haven't even showed you your room yet." Livvy says once we are both on the other side. I sigh. Livvy starts walking. I sigh again and try to catch up. We start to walk down another hallway but Livvy stops. "Any of these can be your room if you want. But you decide." I peak in the first room. It's kind of bland but has the elven glamour on it. The second one is a bit bigger and as a few decorations it. The third room is huge. Filled with decorations. I look in the fourth room. It's ginormous. It's covered in glitter. And had a huge closet. When I open it up. It has a garden inside. I turn around to face Livvy. "I think I'll take this room."
Lizzie POV:
Diane had just fallen asleep. Perfect. I leap back to Havenfield. Not sure what to do I teleport to the Forbidden Cities. Still in a half daze from the depression pills Edelain gave me when I got the mallowmelt. I try to find Diane's house. By the time I find it the daze had warm off. I look in. Mr and Mrs. Smith are talking in the kitchen. "When should we have the funeral." I guess they had just woken up. "Within the next week." Said Mrs. Smith. "I want it to be quick so we can move on." Mr. Smith starts to sniffle. "I can talk to the morgue in the morning but all we can do now is sleep." Mrs. Smith starts the cry. "I can't believe she's gone." Mr. Smith walks over to comfort her. "She'll never truly be gone as long as she is within our hearts." Mrs. Smith nods. They start to walk upstairs. How could Diane want this to happen. She is an elf. Elves have very weak consciousness. Diane's conscience should of crumpled. Or at least put her in a very weak state of mind. But she is doing great fitting into the Lost Cities. I would have to look into it later. Right know I have to check their memories.
A couple hours later I can hear them snoring upstairs. The only reason I hadn't fallen asleep is that when I came to The Forbidden Cities I learned how to stay awake all night and day. Helped me in very many circumstances. I sneak in through the window that was left open. I sneak upstairs. Blinking in and out. Until I find one of the rooms. I peak in. A boy. Maybe twelve or thirteen. Is fast asleep on the bed. I walk over and put my hand on his temples gently. I push into his conscious. He is having a fairly good dream right now. For a young teenage boy, good. I only briefly look at it. All I see is a lot of skin so a avert my eyes back to the job at hand. Seeing if the family remembers Diane at all. I push into his subconscious. He had been having a great day. I guess his parents hadn't told him yet. He'll know soon enough. After seeing that I leave his mind and his room. Looking for his parents room. I find it fairly quickly. And go in. They are both fast asleep. I walk over Mrs. Smith and go into her mind. Inside I find very dark things. Like flashbacks of 'the accident' me and Damel made. It was so bloody and disgusting that I wonder how Damel sleeps at night. I pull out seeing no doubt. I go over to Mr. Smith and go into his mind. It's like his wife's. Accept for a tiny little piece in the farthest back corner, when I look at I pull out and start to leave the house not caring if they noticed my presence. I pull out my homemade pathfinder I made when I came here. Mr. Smith doesn't think his daughter is dead. How could he. I think as I hold up my pathfinder. Me and Damel made sure of it. I find a beam of light and jump to my destination. When I reappear I'm in front of an abandoned old house in San Francisco. In other words my home.
Diane POV:
When I got on the huge bed I fell asleep right away. A nice dreamless sleep. When I wake up I find an array of clothing everywhere. They were all so elegant and wonderful. I pick out something that isn't too over the top. A reddish tunic with some jewels in it and light brown leggings. When I leave my room and walk down the hallway I find Lizzie standing in front of a tinted window wearing human clothes. "Why are you wearing human clothes?" I blurt out. She sighs. "These days I try to separate myself from this culture. The only reason I came back is that I don't have the resources to train you." She stops to take a deep breath. "When you are steady here I'll go back to where I came from." She dips her head down and looks back up at me with a smile. "But that's not why I came here. Follow me." She says as she pulls out a tube of light. "Time to go to your lessons." We walk downstairs and outside. She grabs my hand and we reappear after a not so feel good leap. On the coast of a rocky beach. "This is the old entrance was. You threw the whirlpool- in- a- bottle into the water and you ride it down." She sighs again as she pulls out her pathfinder. "But I didn't bring you here for a history lesson. I'm bringing you to Tigran." She grabs my hand and we leap to the gates of Everglen. Lizzie knocks. Before someone answers she whispers. "Tomorrow I'm going to erase myself from this. Nobody except you will know. Everyone else will think Fitz found you and developed this system. Remember you can't talk to anyone about it. They will remember and I don't want to be apart of this until it's time. Good bye for now Diane Smith." And she leaps away
