I Solemnly Swear That I Am Up To No Good

"Lily, get up if you want to make it to the Platform in time", yelled Lily's mum.

"Coming!", yelled Lily excitedly as she jumped out of bed. It was her last year at Hogwarts and she was Head Girl!

Lily got dressed as quickly as she could and ran out into the kitchen with her trunk and owl. Her parents were making coffee for themselves and her sister was sitting at the table, determinedly not making eye contact with her younger sister. Lily sat down across from Petunia, who was being married to Vernon in two weeks, not that Lily was going. Petunia didn't want her to and Lily would have too much coursework to leave Hogwarts. Her mother set bacon, eggs, and biscuits in front of her, and Lily started eating quickly, she couldn't wait to get to Hogwarts.

When Lily finished breakfast, she got up and was almost hit in the head by an owl. The owl landed on Lily's shoulder after a few barrel rolls. Lily recognized the owl immediately, it was James Potter's dive bombing owl. She took the note and saw it was in Remus's handwriting, not James'.

Hi Lily, I hope you've had a great summer. I know you're probably Head Girl, so congratulations if you are. Anyways, James has a surprise for you on the Hogwarts Express that you won't like one bit.

Your Friend,

Remus Lupin

P.S. James's surprise is going to give you a heart attack, but it's not dangerous at all. (Hopefully)

"Oh great, James Potter has a surprise for me on the train", thought Lily

"Lily, we have to go!", called her mum

Lily grabbed her school stuff and ran out to the car.

"James, Sirius, Remus, Peter, time to get up!", yelled Fleamont Potter

The four Marauders jumped out of bed. They were going to make the most of their seventh year. James and Remus were Head Boy and Prefect, so they could get permission to be out past curfew saying they were on patrol. Remus took James's owl and wrote a letter to Lily before running into the kitchen where the Potters, Sirius, and Peter were eating breakfast.

"Thanks Prongs", he said when James Levitated his plate over to him.

The Marauders ate as quickly as they could before saying good-bye to James's parents. They grabbed their school things and Disapparated to Platform 9 3/4. James went to the Head Boy compartment, and Remus went to the Prefect compartment, leaving Peter and Sirius to find a compartment for themselves.

Lily said a quick good-bye to her parents and raced through King's Cross with her trolley. When she came to the barrier, she ran through and found herself on the familiar platform that only Wizards and Witches could access. She found Marlene and Mary, who nearly tackled her when they saw the Head Girl badge on her robes.

"Ouch, watch it", said Lily

Her two best friends jumped off of her and helped her get her luggage on the train. Lily say good-bye and went off to the Head's cabin. Hopefully Remus got Head Boy, that would be nice. She opened the door, and nearly screamed from what she saw inside. James Potter?! How could the biggest troublemaker in the school become Head Boy?

"But... How? You weren't even a Prefect", sputtered Lily

"Nice to see you too Evans", said Potter

Lily sat across from him with her face out the window.

"Evans?"

"What Potter?"

"Look, I'm sorry for being a total prat for the past six years."

Lily couldn't have heard that right, "What?"

"I'm sorry for being an arrogant toerag for the past six years. I've been completely obnoxious ever since I met you and I get it. I asked you out every 5 minutes and I know that was annoying. I just wanted to apologize if we're going to work together. I promise I won't slouch off and make you do everything, okay?"

Lily was shocked, was this really James Potter? This was too good to be true. "Thank you James, um, should we go brief the Prefects?", she managed to say

"Why not?", he said, with a small smile on his face. Unlike his normal cocky smirk, this smile was genuine.

The two of them walked into the next compartment. When the Prefects saw the two Head students, muttering broke out across the compartment, "Lily Evans and James Potter working together, that's a joke".

"Ahem.", James cleared his throat and everyone shut up, knowing that he would hex them if they didn't.

"Welcome back to Hogwarts. As Prefects, you will be required to do nightly patrols once a week. You will get the schedule tomorrow. This year, the password to the Prefect's bathroom is Dancing Lions. And that's about it unless you have anything else to add James?", said Lily

"Actually, I do. Please remember that only Prefects and Quidditch Captains are permitted to use the Prefect's bathroom. You may not invite a student that is not a Prefect or Captain to the bathroom.", added James

Lily and everyone else looked at him in amazement. James Potter taking responsibility was something that had never happened before. Most of the Prefects walked out, leaving James, Lily, Snape, and Remus behind. Snape walked up to Lily, "Don't trust Potter or the werewolf Lily. I'm warning you."

"Leave me alone Snape"

"No, listen to me, don't trust Potter, Black, or the werewolf, they'll just get you killed", he said, shoving her against the wall.

"Leave her alone!", yelled James and Remus, who both had their wands tuned on Snape

"Don't trust them, I won't leave until you swear that you won't trust them"

"Leave Snape", growled Potter

Snape reluctantly left the compartment. Lily looked at James Potter in amazement. He hadn't hexed Snape even though he really deserved it. This really was an improvement to hexing everybody just because he was bored and he wanted to practice a few spells for Transfiguration and Charms.

"You okay Evans?", asked James

"Yeah", said Lily

"You already knew about Moony?"

"Yeah"

"You don't by any chance know our other secret?"

"No", said Lily

"Obliviate", James whispered, and Lily instantly forgot about the question he'd asked

"You coming Moony?", asked James as he walked out to find Sirius and Peter.

As the two of them left, Lily smiled, "Maybe this year won't be as bad as I thought it'd be with Potter"
