"I'm sorry you're what now?" Shelly said dumbstruck. "And your name is Draco, like for real?" She continued.
"Well no my name is not really Draco that is more of a nickname my real name isn't one that can be said by humans nor matter how hard i tried in the past. You guys could never really get it right so I just told everyone to call me Draco even though they are just really calling me dragon." He replied with a huff of laughter. His honey colored eyes sparkled with a hint of mischief as he watched Shelly try and regain herself.
'It funny mortals are still so funny, even more so when they can understand what I am saying' he thought with a mix of amusement and loneliness.
"So wait. I thought everyone heard and understood all spoken language? How is it that you haven't heard your owe for so long? And how have you been talking to people?" Shelly asked.
"Like you said you humans can hear each other's language because they are languages created by humans for humans. But for those of us who are not human ours is one that is far older than humanity. Ours is one of the very earth itself." He said with a sad smile. Before Shelly could say anything eles the elevator had stopped on the ground floor, she hesitated due to the fact that she wasn't sure when she was going to see the dragon in men's clothing again.
"Shall we get off it's late how about I treat you dinner and I can show you how I communicate and you can tell me what you think of my newest book." He said with a wink as he held his arm out for her to take. She quickly took his arm and they walked off the elevator and out the door. While they walked she once again looked at him this time in a different light. 'At first glance you don't see it but now that I have heard him speak and now looking at his face I can see it though well hidden but he is lonely no that's not quite right more like he is lost trapped in a world where he is not only understood but he can not understand what people are saying.' She thought as they left the building.
"Um I have a dumb question, do you um have a car?" She asked before her brain caught up with her mouth. Her question was answered with a full body laugh that she felt over her whole body.
"It's not a dumb question since you know what I truly am but yes I do have a car, but i was thinking we could take yours and i can come back for mine after dinner, that way you can head straight home without some stranger either following you back to work or dropping you off at your house. You my dear are in complete control of tonight." He replied with what looked like a true smile. Once the transportation was settled and the restaurant chosen they headed off.

Once they got to their destination Draco once again escorted her. Once they got up to the hostess station before either of them could say anything the hostess's eyes lit up and she began to sign to Draco.
Welcome back and who is this young lady? She signed.
She is my publisher. I hope you are having a good day today. He replied, after a little more exchanges they were led to a private table away from the crowd it wasn't until after she left that Shelly said dumbfounded. "You have been using sign language all this time, since your language doesn't follow the "rules" sort of speak." She started.
"People just assume that I was born deaf yes. And since signing isn't spoken and when you have nothing but time to learn it easy to learn I could teach you if you wish?" He replied. They continued to talk only stopping when the staff came to check on them. What had started as a book review turned into a Q and A before Shelly had realized it. With each round of questions and answers Draco's eyes brighten. He had told her just how long it had been since he was able to truly speak to anyone that he was kind of giving off a huge "I'm just a big kid" vibe.
"I hate to intrude but it is time for us to close down for the night." The young hostess said. So they paid the bill and headed out. Shelly checked her watch and much to her shock it was nearly midnight.
"Wow I can't believe it's almost midnight, where did the time go?" She exclaimed.
"Do you need to go home?" Draco asked with a hint of sadness.
"Unfortunately yes I'm kind of a bear if I don't get enough sleep, but tomorrow is my day off so if you would like we can meet up and we can spend the day together, you could tell me stories and teach me sign language and I can help give you reviews on all your stories from a fan's point of view not just a publishers?" She said with a small giggle as she watched Draco's eyes light up like a Christmas's tree.
"Yes that would be great." He replied as he walked her back to her car. As he watched her leave the parking lot he couldn't help but feel protective of her, kind of like the way an older sibling would. 'Dammit Draco quit it even if she is one of them does not mean there are anymore. But if she is, maybe just maybe we can find more of my kin. As well as others like me.' He scolded himself before he began the walk back to Shelly's office building to retrieve his own car. Even after the mental scolding he still couldn't help but smile. Unknown to Shelly he didn't need her to give the review he already knew her passion for his stories. But he was never going to tell her if only because she can speak the Immortal language. 'Even if we are both the last of our kind I for the first time in countless years have a friend and that is more than enough for me. This gives me an idea for a new story.' He thought with a smile.
