Hey Everyone!
I'm taking a quick break from my other fics for a couple days to write something else, bc I ran out of ideas.
Don't fear, I WILL get back to Path of the Lucario soon, I just needed some time for ideas. Anyways, this is heavily inspired by like a dozen other versions of pretty much the same thing happening, so i'm just writing my own version.
This does have some somwhat heavy swearing, so be warned!
Please don't hate, and as always, and plz feed me your thoughts. I use them to survive. Like seriously, I live off of reviews. FEED ME!
Enjoy, my faithful!
DISCLAIMER THAT I TOTALLY DIDN'T FORGET ABOUT IN MY OTHER FICS: I don't own Spider-Man, just the plotline.
CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR AVENGERS: ENDGAME! DON'T SAY I DIDN'T WARN YOU!
Peter POV:
Peter gasped, instinct kicking in as he leaped to his feet. Everything was quiet, like the world was holding its breath.
"Peter." A voice cut through the silence.
Startled, Peter jumped into the air, and twisted around as he landed. It was the wizard, the one with the cool cape.
"Peter, we need to go now." The wizard said, his voice tense, but powerful, like it commanded respect.
"What happened?" Peter asked, relaxing just the slightest bit. "Where is Mister Stark?"
"He's on Earth, back at the Avengers Compound." The wizard (His name was Strange, wasn't it? Something Strange. Steve? No, that's Captain Rogers. Oh! Steven Strange. That's it!) explained, turning his back to Peter. "It's time to go."
The wizard (DOCTOR Strange) held out his hand, then slowly moved his other hand in a circular motion around it. In front of him, a sparkling orange portal appeared.
"Magic!" Peter exclaimed, taking a step forward. Through the portal, he could see... oh my. Was that... the Avengers Compound? It couldn't be! It was... completely decimated. The once lush grassy field was completely destroyed, riddled with huge craters, and covered in hundreds of aliens. Thousands of aliens, the same ones that had attacked New York all those years ago.
Strange stepped through the portal, then turned around and motioned for Peter to follow. Hearing movement behind him, Peter twisted with a start, before recognizing the freaky space people from before.
"Oh, hey." Peter said, giving them a small wave. "Ready to go save the world again?" He said, his voice quiet.
The freaky space lady with the crazy antennae things spoke up first, a creepy, huge smile on her face. "Oh yes! We are always ready for more world-saving!"
"We don't have time for this." Strange spoke up, frustrated. "We need to go now."
"Right!" Peter steeled himself, then stepped through the portal next to the wizard. He looked around, gazing in awe at the massive sparkly orange portals that were releasing huge armies from all over the world, ready to fight for the fate of the planet. Then he froze, staring at the all too familiar red and gold armor, the armor that helped make him who he was. "Mister Stark." Peter whispered to himself, before immediately shooting his webs up at an aircraft that floated overhead, using it to swing over to his mentor.
Peter landed in front of him, Tony Stark, his mentor, his best friend... his father. "Hey! Holy Cow! You will not believe what's been going on. Do you remember when we were in space? And I got all dusty? I must've passed out, because I woke up, and you were gone. But the wizard, Doctor Strange was there, right? He was all like, 'Come on, they need us.' And then he started doing this yellowy orangey sparkly thingy that he does all the time-"
Tony interrupts him, stepping forward and wrapping his arms around the young teen. "Oh God."
"Oh, oh." Peter replies, shocked. "This...this is nice." He wraps his arms around Tony, hugging him back.
HELLO THEERE MY NAME IS LINE BREAK, AND I'M A LINE BREAK BECAUSE THE LINE IS BREAKING!
The battle was intense. Peter clutched the gauntlet in his arms, his spider legs tearing through the swarms of Outriders and Chitauri. After the cannons stopped, and the massive alien ship crashed into the water, the super lady ended up hovering in front of Peter.
"Hey." She said, floating down to him. "You got something for me?"
Peter handed the gauntlet to her, relieved to be free of the burden. "Don't know how you're getting there, though."
Peter scrambled to his feet, and surveyed the battle. Everything was happening so fast, he could barely keep track of everything. His senses tingled, and Peter instinctively ducked, rolling under the Outrider that leapt at him. Peter threw one of his spider legs upward, the mechanical limp jabbing through the alien's abdomen, it's blood spurting out onto the ground.
Peter used his webs to clamber on top of the wreck of a ship. He scanned the field, then froze. "Mister Stark!" He whispered, watching his mentor face off against Thanos. Peter leapt down, swinging between the wrecks that were jutting out of the ground, using them to fly across the battlefield.
Tony lifted his hand, already about to snap. Peter swung down, reaching out his arm, and yanking the gauntlet off of Tony's hand.
"NO!" Tony yelled as he looked around frantically.
Peter watched in sadness as his mentor realized what had happened. "Mister Stark, I'm sorry. I have to do this."
"No! Peter don't do it!" Tony yelled back at him, trying to run to Peter.
Peter smiled sadly, and backed up a couple of steps. "I...I'm so sorry Mister Stark. I can't let you do this. You...You're just human, and if you do this, you'll die. I can't let that happen. Especially not now that... that you have a real family. You have a daughter to go home to now, right? I won't let you do this, because she needs her father. And I have super strength, you know? So I might be able to handle it, right?" Peter looked into Tony's eyes. He knew what this might do to him, but there was no other way. No one else was ready for this, and Peter sure as hell couldn't let Tony sacrifice his life, not again. "Say hi to Morgan for me, will you?"
Peter half smiled, not really hearing him, but knowing that Tony was yelling at him. He raised his arm, feeling the ultimate power flowing through his arm, the multicolored lines of light searing through his flesh, burning away the suit.
Peter took one more deep breath, and looked Tony in the eyes. Then he snapped his fingers, and all he felt was pain.
I'M A HAPPY LINE BREAK OH YES I AM YOU'LL NEVER FIND A HAPPIER LINE BREAK THAN MEEE!
Tony POV:
Tony felt the stones sliding into place, watching as Thanos snapped his fingers, and seeing the furious expression form on the Mad Titan's face. He raised his arm in preparation of the snap. He knew what would happen. Once his fingers snapped, it would be the end. There would be nothing else, because there was no way that Tony could possibly survive the power. This he knew, especially after seeing what had happened to Thanos after he snapped, even when Thanos was a being of unfathomable power.
Tony moved his fingers, letting the power seep through him. It didn't hurt yet, but Tony could feel the pain begin to form, and it was starting to become quite noticeable. But as quick as the power began to settle, it vanished, as his hand was ripped to the side, the gauntlet was torn out of his grasp.
"NO!" Tony yelled, looking at the Mad Titan, whose hands were both gripping the remnants of his huge sword. Wait, WHAT? Tony looked to the side, and froze. "No..."
Peter Parker stood, the gauntlet, complete with all six infinity stones, held in his grasp. He looked guilty, like a child caught with a hand in the cookie jar.
"Mister Stark... I'm sorry." The teenage superhero slid the gauntlet onto his arm, letting the metal readjust to his small hand, and gazed at Tony. "I have to do this."
"No! Peter, don't do it!" Tony yelled, sprinting towards the young Avenger.
"I... I'm so sorry Mister Stark. I can't let you use it." Peter hurriedly explained, backing up a few steps. "You...You're just human, and if you do this, you'll die. I can't let that happen. Especially not now that... that you have a real family. You have a daughter to go home to now, don't you? I won't let you do this, because she needs her father. And I have super strength, you know? So I might be able to handle it, right?" Peter stared into Tony's eyes, regret heavy in his eyes. "Say hi to Morgan for me, will you?"
"Peter... no... damn it Peter please don't!" Tony yelled, stumbled towards him, reaching for him as the kid raised his arm, helpless to do anything as the power of the gauntlet tore through him.
Peter gazed at Tony, a stony expression set into his face. His face quirked up through his pain, before sliding his thumb across his fingers, in the most powerful snap of the universe.
Peter's arm burned, the suit tearing apart and nearly crumbling to ash on his arm, and the flesh underneath cooked, the power searing away his skin as the lights ran up his arm, and a few of then crept up his neck, and across his chest. Tony watched in horror as Peter, the boy that Tony could almost say that he had raised, snapped his fingers.
He was aware of the dust beginning to fall, all around them, as Thanos's legions were obliterated, and not even Thanos himself was spared, as the Mad Titan slowly disintegrated. Tony was aware, but he had eyes only for the small crater that had formed at the origin of the snap. Tony slid down to the epicenter of it all, stopping next to the kid. The kid, the one who was so smart, and so very funny at all the wrong moments.
"Shit, Pete..." Tony breathed, tears springing to his eyes as he gazed at the broken body in his arms.
HELLO AGAIN! IT'S ME, LINE BREAK! I'M BACK BECAUSE I'M A LINE BREAK!
Steve POV:
Steve was climbing to his feet, ready to go back to the fight against Thanos, no matter how long it took. He reared his arm back, and threw a heavy punch into the center of a Chitauri warrior's face, but his fist just went right through the alien's face, which was already turning to dust.
"What the-?" Steve exclaimed, stumbling back. He whipped his neck around, searching for the source. He knew that it was probably either Thor, Tony, Carol, or maybe even Bruce had used it again. He watched as Thanos disintegrated, then saw out of the corner of his eye, Tony, his suit wrecked far beyond repair, sprinting into a crater.
"Oh, no." Steve whispered. He could sense that something wasn't right. He didn't know how, but it was almost like a feeling, that he somehow knew that everything went wrong. Steve sprinted, his feet pounding against the torn earth, until he reached the edge. Steve froze, his eyes filled with shock, and horror. "Oh god, no..."
Steve stumbled down the crater in a daze, his eyes locked onto the broken red and gold body, clutched in the arms of another, less broken red and gold body. "Oh god, Tony..."
Steve dropped to his knees, and wrapped his arm around the sobbing superhero.
"He...he did...did this for... for me." Tony sobbed, clutching the kid like he would never let go.
"Oh, Tony." Steve whispered softly. "It's not your fault." He gently squeezed his friend, letting him know that he wasn't alone. "It's not your fault."
"Boss." FRIDAY's voice crackled out of Tony's shattered armor. "Boss, Peter Parker requires immediate medical attention."
Tony's head shot up. "What?"
"Boss, if you delay too much longer, Peter will die." FRIDAY said, the AI's voice was dull and emotionless. "He requires immediate medical attention."
Steve nearly cried with relief, reaching to feel for a pulse. It was there, but so, so weak. "FRIDAY's right, Tony. He's alive." Steve scrambled back to his feet. "I'm going to go find a medic." He sprinted out of the crater, and ran. That boy had just saved the universe. Steve would be damned if the kid died because of it.
NO! I AM THE ONLY TRUE LINE BREAK! YOU ARE ALL IMPOSTERS! BEGONE, FALSE LINE BREAKS!
Pepper POV:
Pepper watched, too far away to do anything, as Spider-Man, no, Peter, ripped the gauntlet off of Tony's hand. Her face paled instantly when she realized what had almost happened, then she paled even further, once she saw Peter lift his arm, complete with the gauntlet and all six stones.
She activated her thrusters, the blue suit of armor shooting forward, past the disintegrating army, past the stunned people, until she reached the crater, just as Steve sprinted away. Pepper deactivated her helmet, and ran down the crater, stopping next to Tony, who's arms still clutched Peter's limp body.
"Tony, Tony are you okay?" Pepper asked, hugging him fiercely. "I thought I lost you there." She held him at an arm's length and looked into his eyes. "You need to go find someone to take a look at you, and make sure that you're alright."
"No." Tony replied, his voice flat.
"Tony, i'm sorry, but there's nothing you can do for him right now, ok?"
"No, I won't leave him."
"Tony..."
"Pepper." Tony's voice was dry, and she could feel his pain as he spoke. "Pepper, there's a reason he took the gauntlet from me."
Pepper's eyes widened. "No, tell me he didn't..."
"He did." Tony replied, his voice cracking. "Pep, he knows. He knows about Morgan." Tony looked Pepper in the eye. "He told me that he wouldn't let me do it, because... she... she needs a...a... a father." Tony broke, his head resting on Peppers chest. "He did it... for us."
Pepper was at a loss for words. She looked down at the scorched body, his hand still inside the red gauntlet, it's barren metal scorched and cracked. Pepper gasped, looking down at the gauntlet. "Tony..." Her voice was urgent. "Tony, the stones!"
Tony frowned. "What about them?" he mumbled, his face still pressed against the cool blue metal.
"The stones... They're gone."
HELLO EVERYONE! NICE TO MEET YOU! I'M JUST YOUR FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD LINE BREAK!
Nobody POV:
Tony's head rested on his hands, his elbows on his knees, hunched over in the chair that someone gave him. Pepper's head was on his shoulder, her arms wrapped around him. Steve was pacing the floor with Bucky alongside him, and Clint was sitting on the back of a chair, his arm in a brace. Sam and Rhodey were slouched in chairs across the aisle, both looking extremely exhausted. Even Happy was there, his eyes never leaving the door.
The door at the end of the room cracked open, and instantly everyone who was there was on their feet, waiting in silence. Bruce was the first through the door, with Doctor Strange and Princess Shuri behind him.
"Well?" Tony demanded, his voice harsh.
"Tony, it...it's pretty bad." The large, green professor said softly.
"His entire right arm is scorched, the stones really did a number on him." Strange explained, in full doctor mode. "He should be able to heal, but the scars will never go away."
"I ran a scan for the stones, and I think I found them." Shuri was unusually timid, almost as if she had bad news.
"What is it?" Steve asked. "Where are they?"
"I think you all better come with me." She replied, motioning for them to follow her. She walked back into a room filled with computers, explaining as she walked. "When Peter used the stones, something happened. We don't know why, or how, but somehow, Peter harnessed the full potential of the stones, in a way that we have never seen before."
"What does that mean?" Clint asked, raising an eyebrow.
"It means, that Peter actually absorbed the stones, and they are now inside of him." Strange replied, crossing his arms in front of his chest.
"Is it possible to remove them?" Tony's voice was shaking, he had never expected anything like this.
No." Strange replied.
"What do you mean, no?" Tony asked, furious. "We removed the reality stone from a Thor's girlfriend!"
"Yes, but in that case, she was a temporary host." Shuri replied. "Peter is not a host, he is... bonded with the stones."
"Bonded? What on earth does that mean?" Steve asked, frowning.
"It means, that when Peter wakes up, and he will wake up, it is very possible that he will be able to use the stones, even without a gauntlet." Shuri answered, her voice grave.
"Oh, shit." Tony said, stunned.
"Yep." Rhodey agreed, placing a hand on his friend's shoulder. "Oh shit is right."
"I couldn't have put it better myself." Strange said, a somber smile gracing his stern face.
"Well actually, I think that the proper way to say this, would be that Peter is currently in a shitload of shitty shit." Shuri said, shrugging.
"Damn right!" Sam cried, smiling slightly.
"Hell yeah, he's gonna be in deep shit when he wakes up!" Clint added, stepping forward.
"We might just have to kick his ass for pulling this shit on us." Bucky commented, then nudged Steve.
Steve sighed, then looked at the ceiling. "Oh what the hell." He groaned, then looked back at everyone else. "Peter's in some deep fucking shit."
The room went silent.
No one made a noise.
Everyone stared at the super soldier, jaws on the floor.
Together, everyone in the room chirped out one word.
"LANGUAGE!"
YAY! I finished it!
I really hope you enjoyed it!
Again, I apologize for not continuing Path of the Lucario yet, but I will, so fear not!
This story will definitely continue, because I had so much FUN writing it!
Don't know how long it will take, but hopefully I'll update sooner than later!
Until next time!
